The Health and Safety Commission received reports from heroes in the field, and everything has been going according to plan.
"Checking with Team Hellfire to confirm the staters of Healson Hospital evacuations."
"Some of the heroes stationed there are still combating lower-level Red Deaths on the ground floor."
"Cottontail has encountered possible talking type Red Deaths underground where Healson is hiding."
"Hellfire, Crest and a few other team members are rushing to support her."
"The hospital evacuations are nearly completed; the building is clear."
"The pros should be aiding in the process and will now join the fight."
"We have the upper hand. The enemies that appeared at the surface level are falling rapidly."
"So our only concerns are the ones underground."
"The talking Red Deaths are formidable. There is a reason why they are referred to as High-Ends. If they are anything like the one that appeared in Atlanta, their powers and physical abilities will surpass the typical Red Death. They are likely equipped with fast active cell regeneration as well."
"The top two heroes were in Atlanta, and they were barely able to defeat the monster that attacked there."
Loudspeaker was carrying Doctor around, though, at this point, it was nothing more than dead weight.
"It's over," Doctor cried.
"Can't you run yourself?" Loudspeaker complained.
Doctor didn't appear to be listening as he was wallowing in self-pity. "So many years, so much planning. And now our dream is dead."
X-Less was currently looking at a machine that had survived the onslaught. 'Those tubes were just as they took the brunt of the attack. I'll finish the job.'
He then fired his laser at the machinery. He had no idea what it was, but he suspected that it was nothing good. However, no sooner had he destroyed the machinery than Krogan sprang back to life.
X-Less stared at him as he had himself.
"It's cold," he said.
Meanwhile, the other heroes were still battling against the High-Ends.
Crest had just won his razor-sharp shield into Eleph, but it didn't fall.
"And this is with its powers erSurged," said Monk as he enhanced everyone's physical abilities.
"What a tough bastard," said Saber.
'I can't let go look away from these Red Deaths,' Trapster grimaced. 'But if Hellfire leads the other one over here, I can add it to the group.'
Hellfire was currently dealing with Woman, who was a safe enough distance away from Trapster.
"I'll feel even more amazing when you're bleeding out, number one," she said as her legs began to expand once more.
The lights then exploded once more, firing a liquid projectile straight at Hellfire, but he quickly created a flaming shield wall blocking the attack.
Hellfire looked back at Cottontail, who just stood up. She looked as if she was topple over at any moment. 'I can't leave Cottontail alone.'
"What's the deal?" Cottontail asked, looking rather dizzy from exhaustion and blood loss. "You need me to kick her?"
"No, stay back!" he ordered.
He unleashed several framing tendrils at Woman, but she moved with blinding speed and began dodging them.
"More! Come on!" she said excitedly. She jumped right out in front of him, opening her mouth wide. "You're mine!"
Technora then showed about nowhere, striking her with a powerful kick in the back.
"Sorry to keep you waiting," she said apologetically.
"Just glad you're here," said Hellfire.
"You've done well, but how other hand?" she asked.
Scarlet Dragon, who was in her dragon form, arrived with Rock Lock and Backdraft.
"Thanks for the backup," said Crest gratefully.
"We'll handle them," said Trapster. "Go help Hellfire further inside."
"On it," said Scarlet and took off. "Rock Lock! Backdraft! You're with me!"
Rock Lock and Backdraft quickly followed her.
Scarlet then saw Woman, who was currently in battle with Technora.
"Another one!" she said.
Backdraft immediately unleashed a powerful burst of water at Woman, and Rock Lock quickly placed his hand on the ground. With one single twist, he locked her in place, and Technora fired a laser from one of her drones, cutting through the side of her face. However, she quickly began to regenerate seconds after her attack.
"It's able to regenerate itself immediately," said Technora.
"Thanks for your help, but…" said Hellfire as he rushed in, "this one is mine!"
He then slammed a blazing fist, performing a powerful uppercut that tore her head clear off.
Black Hole had also arrived in time to assist Crest and his group with their High-Ends.
Trapster took this opportunity to rest his eyes. "Is it over?"
"Trapster!" Loudspeaker yelled as he made his way into the lab with Doctor in tow. "We've got the doctor!"
X-Less, meanwhile, was staring at an awakened Krogan, stunned.
"There's no way," he said.
He was about to fire his lSurger at him, but Krogan quickly grabbed his head, and he disintegrated into dust, leaving only his cape.
Krogan took the cave and put it on. "Seriously, I'm freezing."
Three minutes earlier, Sprite had just watched Hawks shooting out of the mansion as a burst of flames erupted out the window. Every instinct in his body was telling him that something was off and Hawks was in trouble.
Sprite began to free himself from Fat Gum, who did his best to restrain him.
"No, Sprite," said Fat Gum, but he was able to free himself from his grip and quickly took off. "Get back here!"
"What the heck are you doing?" Chargebolt asked shockingly.
"It's not safe," Fungi cried.
"Hawks was in that blast," said Sprite as he extended his wings and used the wind to carry them towards the villa. "He's in deep trouble!"
"You sure?" Fat Gum frowned.
"I'll help him!" Sprite yelled back.
"It's too dangerous to go alone," said Chargebolt.
'I knew he was strong, but geez,' said Fat Gum, somewhat impressed. 'Nobody has ever escaped from my fat before, much less without a struggle.'
Fat Gum looked at the other students. "All right, that's far enough." He then launched the students out of his fatty body. "Hurry back to the rearguard. Tell your classmates we're doing fine."
He then ran off chasing after Sprite. "Hey! You forgot to pay for your fat taxi ride!"
Hawks, meanwhile, was flat on the ground, with Diablo pinning him to the ground and burning his back. He then raised his hand, ready to deal with the final blow, but Sprite arrived just in time.
"Hawks!" he yelled and swooped down, punching Diablo back.
Sprite then looked at Hawks and saw his wings had been burned clean off. 'I knew the situation was bad; I didn't realise it was this bad.'
"You're a Berk rookie," said Diablo looking at him. "You must be joking. They drag students out here to fill their ranks. Well, take a good look…" He then gestured to Twice's dead body on the landing, "your pal here killed Twice stabbed him in the back with one of those big feathers. Twice, he was just trying to save his friends. Well, what are you here to do? Come to rescue him? Do you still think that is the right thing? These pros you admire play dirtier than me. But I learned that now before you waste your life worshipping them."
Sprite narrowed his eyes at Diablo. "We all have our flaws, whether we are heroes or villains, and that is part of nature. However, I find it hypocritical that you denounce murder after you killed so many people. As of right now, my only concern is protecting Hawks."
"You're brainwashed," said Diablo.
He immediately unleashed a burst of flames, and Sprite quickly grabbed Hawks and pulled him to safety. However, there was very little room to manoeuvre on the landings, and his foot got burnt in the flames.
"Not much room; I can't dodge much," he winced.
Sprite saw that his leg was already healing. 'Even with my regenerative abilities, my power set is not a good match to his. My priority has to be rescuing Hawks and getting him medical attention.'
"He still running his mouth," said Hawks weakly.
"Think about it, you barbecued heroes," Diablo smirked. "Who do you think really needs rescuing? Because it's not you."
"Your orders?" Sprite asked.
'He can finish me off before because he was too busy talking,' said Hawks. 'He's doing the same thing again, but why? His powers may have some drawbacks, so these throw us off-guard for a time. The flames as he software a lot weaker than the last ones, which means he can't fire at rapid succession any more.'
Even with this information, you knew Sprite was no match for him. "We go now."
Sprite immediately raised his arm and fired several wooden spikes at Diablo, but he dodged them and fired a burst of flames. However, Sprite had just jumped off the landing and grabbed it to swing down to the next floor, but the flames were singeing his hand.
He then crashed down to the second floor, pulling back his hand, which was slightly burnt but was already healing. He then noticed that Hawks was now unconscious, no doubt overcome by his injuries.
"Hawks, are you okay?!" Sprite asked, and they quickly checked to see if he was breathing. 'He is still breathing; the impact must have knocked him out.'
Throughout the room and pillar, the heroes and villains battle one another, and Mt. Lady towers over them all.
"Mt. Lady cut that passage to the underground!"
"Roger!" she said.
Sprite picked up Hawks, knowing he could stay here.
"I have to get out of here, and Hawks needs medical aid," he said.
However, before you can make any move, Diablo jump down towards him.
"I thought you might come this way!" he said as his blue flames consumed him. "So I saved enough power by making my last two shots weaker. Say goodbye!"
However, before he could launch an attack, eyes immediately erupted out of the villa, knocking him back. Sprite immediately used this opportunity to make his getaway and exited the villa.
Outside, Fat Gum watched as ice consumed the entire villa.
"What is that?" he stared.
He then looked up and saw that Mt. Lady had been long out of the villa and was heading straight towards him.
"Booty incoming!" he yelled.
He quickly jumped out of the way before Mt. Lady landed right down on top of him.
"Ouch," he winced.
The ice had been caused by Geten, who was now looking down at the heroes.
"You won't get in Re-Destro's way any longer," he said furiously. "You'll suffer before you die, you government dogs."
"Geten, sir!"
"We've broken out their line. Don't fight them on your own!" he ordered. "It's what they're counting on. Coordinate and push through together!"
Diablo was rather annoyed as Geten's outburst had allowed Sprite to get away with Hawks.
"That ice bastard didn't hold anything back this time," he grumbled as he picked himself up. "Oh well, maybe I'll start early."
Sprite was now gliding away from the villa, using the winds to get to the nearest medical centre. He was a little concerned about what Diablo had said about Hawks killing Twice, especially since he was a cousin of Ruffnut and Tuffnut.
"I'm sure you had your reasons for doing what you did, Hawks," said Sprite, looking at him. "I just hope everyone else sees it that way."
Meanwhile, beneath the villa, everyone was rather concerned, considering that the ceiling was beginning to crumble.
"Give me a battle update right now!" Re-Destro ordered. "And Harry out with my spare legs!"
"Re-Destor?"
"What is it?!" he snapped.
He then turned around; his eyes widened as Giganto was now standing up.
"He stood!"
"My master scent," said Giganto. "Yes, awakened."
Meanwhile, Night Fury and his group were involved in the evacuation of Los Angeles, which was a tough job considering the city's size.
"We will try to protect you, but this whole neighbourhood could become a battlefield," said Burnin. "Please tell us if you know anyone who has limited mobility or if you haven't been able to contact somebody who might not know what's going on yet."
"Everyone into the police vans! Move your asses!" Hookfang ordered.
"Thanks for your help, young man," said a woman, who gave him a candy bar. "Here, have a candy bar."
"Are you crazy?!" Hookfang snapped. "I'm working here!"
"She's being nice," said Valkyrie, rolling her eyes. "You should take it."
"If you're so desperate, you can have it yourself," Hookfang grumbled.
"He can't even be nice to an old lady," said Windshear, shaking her head.
"I've got a printed manuscript that my publisher is waiting on. PleSurge, don't let my only copy get destroyed."
"We'll be certain to protect your important literary contribution," Speedy promised.
Anime was using his powers to evacuate all the animals.
"Aw, so cute," said a little girl as a large number of cats walked by.
A pigeon then hovered in front of Anime and began to commune with him. "Thank you, friend." He then reached for his radio. "Anime, here. The neighbourhood has been cleared."
"Hey, hey," said Surge as she hovered over the city, watching a number of vehicles being evacuated. "It looks like we'll be done after this last group heads out."
"We should check nursing homes and apartment buildings one more time," said Speedy. "It's the best way to be sure that no citizen has been left behind."
"I've already got Sharpshot scanning for any civilians we might have missed," Night Fury reported.
"Stay calm," Burnin calmly told the civilians. There is no need to panic; you can wait in the shelter outside the city until we can determine it's safe to return."
"If anyone is feeling sick, please do not hesitate to say anything," said Night Fury.
Hiccup then suddenly felt sick, as if something was off, and he slowly turned in the direction of the hospital.
"Night Fury, is something wrong?" Valkyrie asked.
Night Fury didn't know what was going on, but he had a hunch that something bad was about to happen.
Sadly, his hunch turned out to be right. In the secret lab below the hospital, the walls leading to the lab where Krogan was currently located began to crumble. All the heroes immediately stopped what they were doing and looked horrified, while Doctor, on the other hand, looked as if he was overcome by joy.
Technora didn't waste a single second and quickly took off, grabbing Loudspeaker and Doctor and pulling them away just before the cracks touched them.
As the cracks continued to expand, more of the lab began to crumble to dust.
'This is Krogan's power to work here, but it's spreading further than before,' she said, horrified. 'Destroying things he hasn't even touched yet. We had been warned that they were trying to improve his metapower somehow. Is this the result?'
She quickly looked to the other heroes. "Get out of here! Don't touch the cracks. You'll die!"
The heroes immediately ran for it.
Outside, every single bird in the trees began to take off as if they sensed something was off.
"The hospital…" said Night Fury.
The others immediately turned towards the hospital and saw the birds in the trees flying away from it.
Scarlet immediately took off, grabbing as many heroes as she could, and Trapster ran alongside her.
"Climb on!" she yelled to him.
Trapster quickly wrapped his scarf around her claw, and she lifted him off the ground. However, he felt something grabbing his leg; he looked down and saw that Rippy was clinging to him. Their weight was causing his scarf to rip, and what was worse, Rippy himself was beginning to crumble and would take Trapster with him.
However, a shield spun out of nowhere, slicing through his hand freeing Trapster. He quickly turned and saw that Crest had tossed it, but he was also crumbling to dust along with a few other heroes.
"Crest, no?!" Trapster yelled.
Crest merely smiled and gave him the thumbs up before his body disintegrated.
Hellfire had grabbed Cottontail and was flying out of the hospital as quickly as he could. Scarlet was now forced to run across the ground carrying as many heroes as she could. Technora was flying alongside them, carrying both Loudspeaker and Doctor.
Moments later, the entire hospital began to crumble to nothing, and Krgoan's disintegration power continued and spread throughout the city. Any hero who was caught in its wake instantly died, and everyone immediately began to scatter.
Pixiebomb then slammed her hands into the ground, creating an earth barrier to stop the destructive way. However, the barrier she created merely began to crumble, and Tiger had to grab her so they could get to safety.
Thankfully, Hellfire, Scarlet and Technora were able to get away in time and flew directly over the city. From there, they could see the destructive wave spreading throughout the city, destroying everything it touched and showing no signs of stopping.
"We were defeated," said Doctor, grinning like a madman. "You insufferable heroes put so much time and effort into planning this assault and dream. But look, a miracle has occurred; Krogan is awake. All your preparations turned to dust the moment he opened his eyes and flexed his raw power. We did it! Victory is ours!"
Surge was hovering over the city and looked on, horrified. "This is not cool."
Night Fury and the others watched on as the destructive way began heading straight towards them.
"This doesn't look good," said Valkyrie.
"Quick! The civilians!" Glacier yelled.
"We need to move now!" Hookfang yelled.
"Hellfire?!" Burnin yelled over her radio. "Sir, are you there?!"
"Everyone, run!" Hiccup ordered as he rushed towards the destructive wave.
"Wait, Hiccup!" Astrid cried.
Night Fury had trained a lot over the past few months and could now harness about 30% of his power, but he was able to unleash 45% in short bursts. He then channelled 45% of his power into his body and performed a thunderclap. This shock which struck the destructive wave, but it had no effect.
"No effect," said Valkyrie. "This isn't some normal shockwave!"
"The whole city is falling apart!" Windshear yelled.
Night Fury instantly recognised this destructive wave, which could only belong to one person but was far stronger than anything Krogan had ever produced.
"Krogan," said Night Fury, narrowing his eyes.
Glacier then rushed in, creating a barrier of ice, but it too began to crack and disintegrate.
"It can't be!" said Glacier shocked.
"Run! Everyone!" Burnin ordered.
Everyone immediately ran for it just as the ice shattered.
"Hospital team!" Burnin yelled over the radio. "Someone respond! Hellfire! Cottontail! Crest! Whoever is there, please speak to me!"
Night Fury and the others quickly grabbed as many civilians as possible. Hookfang quickly took off, unleashing his flames, wrapping his legs around an old woman and using his teeth to bite down on a child's shirt before flying off.
Valkyrie quickly created some wires with electrical components, and Night Fury used his technokinetic abilities to wrap them around as many civilians as possible before flying off and carrying them along with Valkyrie. Glacier created an icy path and began sliding across it, grabbing a young woman. Heather began flying over the ground and grabbed a small child, and Surge used her powers to lift the bus full of people.
"Crap, why aren't they answering?" Burnin cursed. "Can you hear me? Hellfire! Scarlett! Someone! Anyone! Tell us what's going on!"
The Health and Safety Commission, everyone there was losing contact with a number of cameras across the city of Los Angeles.
"While the feeds disappearing?"
"I don't know; nobody is responding to us."
"The source of the destruction appears to be coming from… Healson Hospital?"
"Given what we saw, we're projecting a large number of casualties."
"I want any information you can get!"
"Yes, sir!"
"This is unacceptable. What in the world is going on?"
Krogan stood on the ruins of what used to be Healson Hospital. He was standing on a large parent that had not been destroyed next to the machine that X-Less had blasted.
Krogan then made his way to the machine and opened it. Inside were a number of metapower deleter bullets, the same ones Grimmel had used. However, most of them were destroyed, and only a small number of them looked usable.
"Dammit, most of these to damage to use," he cursed as he grabbed one of the destroyed bullets. "And after all the pain of getting the dock to make more. Grimmel wouldn't be happy to see this outcome."
He then winced in pain.
"What's that?" he frowned.
'Listen,' said Drago's voice. 'Hear me…'
Krogan once again for the surge of pain flowing through his head. "My head… this pain."
His eyes then turned to the ground and saw a remote control lying there.
"I'll be fine, small price of the upgrade of my power," he said as he bent down and picked up the control. "Now then, it seems like the situation has gotten out of hand. You were supposed to wait for me until I woke up." He then pressed down on the remote control. "Hear me, Giganto, bring the others with you. From this moment on, I will destroy everything."
Upon hearing his master's voice, Giganto unleashed a deafening roar.
