I don't own Batman or Kingdom Hearts. They belong to DC Comics, Square Enix, and Disney. And we're back with another chapter. Better late than never, I say! Now let's get this story rolling but first, some reply's to some reviews.
the mysterious Mr.E: Pretty accurate as that's the Red Hood I based off this version is. So good pick! :)
Bear295: Yeah, beware to those who come for the boy. You better say your prayers and make peace with God because Jason won't give them much of chance if they end up in the same room with them. Ah, we all know Sora's more likely to change him than the other way around. He'll be fine... in most timelines. JK! Sora will still be the hero we know him to be! XD
Gamelover41592: Hope it meets your expectations! :)
SpiderXElsa: Glad your enjoying this so far. Frozen Adventure 2 is slow progress right now. Need to figure out where I want it to go. So, it may take a bit. Thank you for being patient.
And with that out of the way, here's the first official chapter! Enjoy!
Chapter 1: The Destiny Boy
Not long after Thrawn left, two Stormtroopers were posted by the cell of the Red Hood. Stormtrooper commented, "So, that's the guy who took out a dozen of our guys back on that backwater planet?"
"He doesn't look so tough," The other Stormtrooper commented, "Bet I could take him."
"Hey," The first Stormtrooper turned to his fellow Trooper, "Our boys were well armed and had him outnumbered and he still killed them all. I wouldn't underestimate him."
"Then why not kill him," His partner asked, "Play it safe."
"No, the Grand Admiral wants to recruit him if possible," The first one answered, "We kill him now, we might as well throw ourselves in the airlock and save our superiors the trouble."
"Whatever," His partner shrugged, "I still think I could take him."
Suddenly, the red barrier started blinking and died down, putting the two troopers on alert, as the first one gasped, "What the heck?!"
"Must be a glitch in the system," His partner started moving toward the cell, "Come on, let's move the prisoner to a secure cell."
As they moved inside, their eyes widened under his helmets as they couldn't see the prisoner and empty cuffs lying on the floor. The first one gasped, "Wha- How did he?!"
Just then, his partner looked around before spotting Jason behind the first trooper, "Behind you!"
However, it was too later as Jason put the first Trooper in a choking hold making him drop his blaster on the former Prisoner's hand. He quickly used it to kill his partner blasting him squarely in the chest. He then dropped the blaster and with quick movements, snapped the Stormtrooper's neck killing him. He then picked up the fallen blaster and turned to the device he used to short-circuit the cell and smirked.
Before he made his presence known to Gotham as the Red Hood, he stopped by a couple of his old stashes that were hidden around Gotham. He kept some of Bruce's old gadgets in case he was ever in a jam. He didn't have Bruce's money anymore, he had to be more cautious of the equipment he used. Including a small EMP device that can short circuit a Motherbox if the need was necessary, he was certain, it would have the juice to fry the cell. Unfourtantly, he could only get the one without drawing Bruce's attention before he was ready so he likely couldn't use the same method if he got caught again.
Fortunately, there wouldn't be a next time, as he exited the cell that once held him as he commented to himself, "Now, where did that Hitler Smurf run off to?"
He knew he had to find him before he completes this Operation Kingdom. He ran off through the corridors of the holding cells. He knew he likely wasn't on Earth anymore, so chances were he was also going to need to find a ride back home. He planned to try to kill the Joker again, as long as he lived, people's lives were in danger. But first, he had to deal with space Nazis before they took over the Universe. He was never a fan of dictatorship either.
He spotted some air vents as he smirked. Opening the vent, he climb through around, he needed to get his equipment back and as many explosives he could get his hands on. When he left here, he was blowing this ship to kingdom come. Suddenly, he heard a familiar sound to him. The sound of a dog barking. Blinking he turned to vent, he saw at least two of those bucket heads guarding a cage as one of them banged on it, "Hey! Shut up in there!"
"Eh," The other Stormtrooper shrugged, "We know the device works on living animals, let's just kill the thing."
"Good idea," The Stormtrooper aimed his blaster at it and fired but missed, accidentally hitting the lock and freeing the door. The black-furred growled as it pounced on the Trooper, "Gah! Get it off! GET IT OFF!"
Jason's eyes widened, he knew that dog, "Ace?"
As the Trooper still standing aimed its gun at the Bathound, the dog swerved around to avoid the laser shots. Jason was shocked to see the dog here, he had heard Ace vanish just a few weeks ago chasing down one of Catwoman's old associates. Guess they were testing their portal device and Ace must have been caught in whatever these Nazis were planning. His eyes narrowed as Ace attacked the other Stormtrooper still standing. While the first one Ace first attacked recovered to aim its blaster at the Bathound, "Die, you stupid mutt!"
Before he could fire, Jason burst out of the event and shot the Trooper before he could fire. He then fired his blaster at the other Trooper killing him. Ace turned around and growled at Jason. He placed his blaster down, "Easy boy..." He removed his glove to allow Ace to sniff it, "You know me..."
Ace's growls died down as he started to sniff Jason's hand. Recognizing the scent of a friend, the Bathound panted happily allowing Jason to pet him. He recalled the mission he and Bruce found him. He actually saved their lives when a criminal in Pegiun's gang was going to get the jump on them when Ace took the shot himself. After nursing him back to health they learned Ace had a hard life, and since then he became a part of the Batfamily. After scratching him behind the ears, Jason smiled, "Come, boy, let's get out of here."
Ace barked in agreement, as the two exited the doors when they came. He and Ace were trained to be masters at stealth so even when they learned a prisoner and vicious animal escaped, they knew how to avoid detection. It helped that it was a big ship with plenty of places to hide in the shadows. Unfortunately, finding Thrawn and a way out was more difficult than Jason thought. If he had something that belonged to that smug alien, he was certain Ace could follow the scent but since he didn't have anything it was a dead end.
He also needed to find his equipment and the armory. Just then, something got Ace's attention, he glanced at the dog, "What is it, boy? You smell something?"
Ace barked before leaping out of his hiding spot when the close was clear. Turned to an automatic door ahead, before turning back to Jason, as if he was saying they sound go that way. Jason nodded, "Alright, I trust ya. I just hope you're not thinking with your stomach again."
The door slide opened revealing a secret cell, but this guy, this kid, looked like he was frozen solid, "Woah." He turned to Ace, "Think the poor bastard is still alive?" After receiving a whine, he sighed, "Okay, I'll see what I can do."
He then spotted a control by the container he was trapped him. He didn't recognize the words of the container so he had to make a few guesses to thaw the kid out. Thankfully, he pushed in the right buttons as the liquid turned red and started melting whatever was holding the kid. He fell to the ground grunting as he rubbed his eyes, "Oh... it feels like I've been trapped in there for years..."
Ace sniffed the boy as he petted the dog, "Thanks." He then opened his eyes before glancing at Jason, "Who are you?"
Not knowing if this kid was a friend or foe, he stuck to his field name, "The Red Hood. You?"
"Jabba the Hutt," He answered as Jason raised an eyebrow. This kid had spunk. He respected that.
"Alright, Jabba," Jason played along for the moment, "You wouldn't know anything about Operation Kingdom?"
'Jabba' shook his head, "Never heard of it, but if Thrawn and the Empire are after it, it can't be good."
"So, you've dealt with these guys before," Jason realized, "Who are they?"
'Jabba' blinked in shock, "Wait... you never heard of the Empire?" Jason shook his head, as 'Jabba' continued, "They're hell-bent on enslaving the galaxy! Control everything and kill whoever stands in their way! I sacrificed everything to give my friends a chance to free my world!"
"Well, it sounds like Hitler Smurf decided to up the game to control the universe," Jason told him, "He has a device that lets him teleport to other worlds..."
"Oh," The boy blinked, before closing his eyes, "I sense it might be much worse than that."
"What?" Jason raised an eyebrow, "You sense?"
"I'll show you," 'Jabba' gestured to the vigilante, "Follow me!"
Both Jason and Ace followed the young man, as the former asked, "You wouldn't by any chance know where they're keeping my stuff here?"
"I might have a few ideas," He glanced back at Jason, "It's just on the way!"
They continued their way across the ship before reaching a storage room, it didn't take long for Jason to find his things and place him back on his person. He placed his helmet on as 'Jabba' looked at a silver hilt, frowning, "Kannan..."
"What is that," Red Hood lifted an eyebrow.
"It belonged to my Master," 'Jabba' sorrowfully took it.
"Sorry for your loss," Jason nodded, "But we should find whatever this Empire is using and get rid of it."
"Right," 'Jabba' placed the hilt on his belt, as they exited the store room, "It's just this way..."
'Jabba' led Jason and Ace to an area that was guarded by two men in black armor. Spotting the three as they charged at them, "It's the escaped prisoners! Blast them!"
They fired several shots at them. Jason and 'Jabba' hopped on the sides of the corridor to avoid the shots. Red Hood was about to retaliate when 'Jabba' pulled out the silver hilt and a blue blade sprung to life. He deflected the laser blast back at them, killing one with his own blaster fire. When he was close enough, 'Jabba' blade sliced through the blaster before telekinicly pushing the remaining Trooper into the door knocking him out. Jason realized, "So, you're a metahuman. That explains why they put you on ice."
"I'm a Jedi," 'Jabba' declared, "I have no clue what a 'metahuman' is."
"Eh, tomato, ta-moto," Jason shrugged, before gesturing to the door, "So, what were looking for is in there?"
Using his powers to open a door and saw bits and pieces of debris put back together making a portal, 'Jabba' nodded, "Pretty sure." As they entered the room, Jabba closed the door behind them and locked it shut. The Stormtroopers and Imperial Scientist in the room tried to stop them but Jason and Ace made quick work of them. Jason spotted a control central, "So, you think this is Operation Kingdom?"
The Jedi's eyes widened, "Oh, this is bad..." He turned to Jason, "Listen, the Emperor, Thrawn's boss, wanted this thing! It could be used to travel through time in any place and any world in the galaxy."
Jason groaned as he removed his helmet. Rubbing his forehead, "Time Travel makes my head hurt."
"Wait, you've heard of this before," 'Jabba' asked.
"Yeah," Red Hood nodded, "We have an idiot back home who came from the future hoping to become famous in our time. So, yes, I'm no stranger to time travel."
"Well, we can't leave this thing in Thrawn's hands," 'Jabba' declared, "I don't know how they activated it without the Force but I'm making sure it's never used again!"
He raised his hand ready to destroy it, but Jason stopped him, "Wait..." He then gestured to the computers, "I'm not an expert on your technology or alien language but if I had to guess, it looks like they have backup systems..."
'Jabba' stared at the controls as his eyes widened, "Wha... how did Thrawn pull that off?" He then realized, "By the Force, it looks like they already have several basses on worlds far away from the galaxy."
"Wait, if they're already in the past, how come things haven't changed," Jason wondered as he inspected his guns.
"Well, it looks like when I first destroyed it caused some effect," 'Jabba' explained, "Looks like they can't travel to the past just yet, just the current time and 10-12 years into the future."
"So, we've got time to stop them then," Red Hood assumed as Ace growled at the portal. He then spotted two wrist devices, like the one he saw the guy in the grey suit was wearing.
Taking them, he tossed one to 'Jabba,' lifting an eyebrow, "What are you doing?"
"You're going to guide me to the worlds the Empire are on," Red Hood declared, "I will travel from world to world and disrupt their operations while figuring out what Operation Kingdom, stop it, blow the heck of this thing, then put a bullet between Thrawn's eyes."
'Jabba' raised an eyebrow, "All by yourself?"
"Of course not," Jason shook his head as he rubbed Ace's ears, "Ace will have my back."
The Bathound barked in agreement. 'Jabba' blinked before telling him, "You do realize you'll likely be outnumbered a thousand to one."
"Eh, there's been worse odds," Jason shrugged as he inspected some of the weaponry that he acquired from the dead Stormtroopers, "So, you're going to help me?"
"If I am," 'Jabba' shrugged, "I need to know I'm going to trust you."
Removing his helmet again, he introduced himself, "My name is Jason Todd. Red Hood is my name on the field."
Ezra stared at him as he offered Jason his hand, "Name's Ezra Bridger." After shaking it, "Listen, once we go through this portal, we need a different base of operations. It won't take long for Thrawn to figure out we're here."
"Any safe places you can think of," Jason asked.
"One," Ezra admitted, "I just hope the Empire hasn't retaken Lothal. Maybe I can give you some backup."
"Fair enough," Jason nodded as Ezra then handed him a communication device in his hand. Placing it in his ear, he placed it back on his helmet, "So, while you set up our base of operations, where do I go first?"
Ezra checked the computer terminal, "Looks like phase 2 of Operation Kingdom requires a 'key.' It looks like it's on a world with lots of oceans, small islands, and star-shaped fruit."
"Guess, I'm looking for a key then," Jason understood, "I'll get it before the Empire knows what hit him."
Suddenly, there was banging on the door, "There in there! Open the blast doors!"
"Better get moving!" Ezra told Red Hood as Ace growled at the door. With that, the three jumped through the portal just the doors were blown open...
Jason's eyes widened as he stood on a white bridge as they appeared in space and time with so many portals to many worlds. Ezra muttered to himself, "Never thought I'd be back here again."
"You were here once?" Red Hood turned to him.
"I was," Ezra confirmed, "A long time ago..."
"So, I'm looking for a world with islands with star-shaped fruit," Jason recalled what Ezra told him, "And I need to find this 'key.'"
"Right," Ezra confirmed, "But be aware, this 'key' might not actually be a key."
"Figures," Jason nodded, "Then Ace and I will just take whatever the Empire going after and work with that." He then gestured to his dog, "Come on, boy."
Ace followed Red Hood as Ezra told him, "May the Force be with you, Jason Todd."
Jason and Ezra passed a bunch of portals to worlds where cards follow the orders of an overweight Queen, there was some kind of enchanted forest, and quite possibly a world with anthropomorphic animals. Ace whimpered as Jason nodded, "You said it, boy. Some of these worlds are just bizarre."
Just then he spotted a portal to a world with islands and star-shaped fruit, he reached for his coms, "Ezra, I think I found it, so do I just walk through it."
"Yeah," The Jedi replied through the coms, "Pretty much. Try not to stay there longer than you have to. Get the key and get out of there. When the Empire find out that you have what they need, they should leave that world alone for the moment."
"Got it," Red Hood nodded as he turned to Ace, "Let's go." With that, they jumped through the portal...
...and landed on the Sandy beaches of a new world. Seeing small houses all around them, and a few islanders staring at them. He turned to Ace, "Right... so where are those Stormtroopers?"
Destiny Islands
As he and Ace walked towards the small village as people stared at them. Jason called out, "Listen! This might sound strange but have you some jerks in white armor marching through here lately..."
Everyone pointed deeper within the town and spotted a few destroyed police cars and dead cops. They must have tried stopping them but weren't a match for their small army. Jason nodded, "Right. Thanks."
Just then, he heard a young woman call out, "They were heading to my son's best friend's home! Could you keep to see if everyone's okay?!"
Red Hood turned to the silver head woman and by her side was a silver head young boy. He nodded to her, "Sure, I can check up on them."
With that, Jason and Ace ran in the direction of the path the Stormtroopers made. The boy turned to his mother, "You think Sora and his parents will be okay?"
"I hope so, Riku," His mother prayed...
Red Hood and Ace ran through the streets of the Destiny Islands, the former caught the scent of the bucket heads that came to this small world. Just then, the dog came to a sudden stop as he started growling. Jason knew what this meant, they were close. Both lowing down, they hid within the bushes. He peeked from the bushes to see the Stormtroopers surrounding the house. That puzzled Jason.
The Empire was after a 'key,' why would they look for it in a typical family home? Either way, they could be hostages, he had to stop them. Activating his detective vision scanned the surrounding area. 16 hostiles. All armed.
Not the worse odds, he's been in. He should be able to find this 'key' whatever it was without getting spot- That's when his thoughts stopped as he froze for a moment, "Wait..." He did a closer scan, there were three occupants that weren't Imperial. Likely the owners of the home. Two of them were adults. Both deceased. Gunned down by the space Nazis. The third was still alive. Small, terrified, hiding within a closet within a home. Jason's eyes widened, "...there's a kid still in there."
Ace growled quietly at that. Red Hood gave the dog gentle pats, "Easy... don't alert them. Not yet. I'm going in get him out of there. Once things go down... sic 'em."
Ace complied standing down for the moment. Jason knew whatever they were looking for would have to wait. Innocents always came first. One of the few things both he and Bruce still agreed on. A passing Stormtrooper wandered by the bush. With quick movements, Red Hood grabbed him from behind and snapped his neck before he could alarm the others. He then dragged the body back into the bush.
Pulling out his guns, Jason quietly approached the home. Careful not to be spotted before he could rescue the child...
Sora had never been so scared in his life. One moment, he was waiting in his room, waiting for supper. Dreams of visiting other worlds and making new friends with his best friend Riku stuck in his head. Then he heard a commotion from downstairs, going to check out, but he was stopped by his mother. She grabbed him and ran back upstairs as he heard his father yelling at strangers he had never seen before...
...that they shot him. His father didn't back up. When his mom realized they had surrounded the house with no chance to escape, she hid him in the closet and told him to stay hidden until help arrived. No matter what happened to her. She closed the closet and went to the phone. Likely to call the police. He then heard the shouting of those men again before he heard the sound of the blaster fire again... and his mother hit the floor.
It took every bit of resistance not to rush over to her side. Who were they? What did they want?
Why did his mom and dad have to die?
And why won't those men leave?
"Any sign of the target?" One of them asked.
"No," Another replied, "But the Grand Admiral the key was here. We have the house surrounded. There's no way they could have gotten him out in time."
"Alright. We'll keep looking."
"Remember, we're ordered to bring the key alive. And unharmed."
Key? His parents were gone because of a key? Why did they refer to a key as if it was a person? People weren't keys... right?
Suddenly Sora heard someone else approach the room. Alerting the bad men, "Wait... you're not supposed to be here!"
"Halt! Or we'll blast you too!"
After a moment of silence, the new voice answered, "You're welcome to try."
He heard many sounds of lasers, punches, crashes, grunts, and many strange sounds he never heard before. He heard several bodies hit the floor. What was going on out there...
Red Hood kicked the third Stormtrooper to the ground, not giving him a chance to get back up. He shot him in the head. Jason didn't need to know that the Empire was now aware of his presence.
"There's a commotion on the second floor!"
"I thought the parents were confirmed to be down?!"
"Then make sure it stays that way! Get after 'em!"
"Wait... what's that?!"
He heard angry dog barks and snarls outside with additional screaming from the bucket heads. Jason smiled to himself as he muttered, "Good boy."
He then turned to the closet, he detective vision revealing that the child was still inside. Ace could hold off the reinforcements for a time, not forever. He was getting the kid and get him to safety. Once said and done, he'd be back for the key... and make the scum pay for making this boy an orphan. Putting his gun into his holster, he approached the closet door, and turned the knob. Opening it, he looked down to see a small brunette spiky hair boy looking up at him...
Sora was surprised at the sight of the victorious warrior standing above him. Three of the bad men lied on the ground, and didn't get back up. Whoever the red helmet guy was, he must have been really strong and skilled to beat three of them at the same time.
Looking down at him, the mysterious hero offered him his hand, with a gentle voice coming from the helmet, "It's okay... I'm here to help..."
Sora slowly reached his hand for a moment before looking back to his fallen mother. His eyes began to water as the hero glanced back to her. He removed his helmet to reveal his face. He looked to him with sympathy, "I'm sorry. I wished I could have gotten here in time to save your parents too. I promise, I'll protect you from those men and then once your safe... I'll make sure they don't get away for what they've done."
Looking back to the man, Sora took his hand as he gently pulled him out. He then carried him as he placed his helmet back on, "Okay, things are going to get a little loud for a minute. But you'll be fine. You wanna get out of here?"
Sora nodded. Pulling out his gun, he warned Sora, "Hold on. And you may want to cover your ears if you are able..."
Crashing through the window, Red Hood leaped outside as Ace viciously attacked and pinned a Stormtrooper to the ground. Two more were about to aid him, but Jason quickly shot them down.
The dog turned to the former Robin, panting. Jason took a look and his surroundings to see five messed up Stormtroopers, he slightly joked, "You've been busy."
Ace barked in response, before turning to the boy, staring at the dog. Jason reassured the dog, "He'll be alright. Let's get him to safety." He then turned to the boy, "Kid, this is Ace. He's a friend."
Sora stared at the dog for a moment, "...hi, puppy."
Ace panted happily making the boy smile. The dog then noticed the Stormtroopers looking down from the floor Jason escaped from, "There they are! Blast them!"
"No wait!" Another spoke up, "You'll hit the target!"
Jason's eyes widened under his hood, "Wait... the kid's the key?!"
One of the Stormtroopers reached for his coms, "All forces! Be advised! A rebel and his rapid mutt had the key! Don't let them escape!"
Jason fired more shots at the Stormtroopers causing them to take cover. He then noticed three more charging in. Jason turned to Ace, "Time to go!"
Still holding onto orphan, Jason ran away from the house with Ace by their side as the Stormtroopers pursued them. He was never one to run from a fight and he knew he could take them on. But he didn't want them to lay their hands on the boy either.
Reaching for his coms, he called out to his new ally, "Bridger! We need a quick exit! Are you at a secure location?!"
"Yes," Ezra admitted as Jason avoided blaster fire before firing a couple of rounds back, "Thankfully, the Empire hasn't taken back Lothal... but somethings seems strange... how long was I..."
"Figure it out later!" Red Hood shouted as he fired another bullet at the charging Stormtroopers, "I have a innocent boy here that the Empire is dead set on getting!" Seeing a beach up ahead, "And I'm running out of places to cover!"
"Boy? As in a kid? Okay, hold on," Ezra sounded like he was rushing, "Opening a portal now!"
Just then, the portal that brought Red Hood and Ace to this world appeared by the shore. Except there was nothing on the other side. No location to enter, no nothing. Red Hood and Ace stopped before the ran head long into it. Reaching for his coms, "Bridger! I see a portal but no destination!"
"There they are!"
"Have them now!"
Jason fired several more bullets, taking one down, but force the others to take cover. Ezra growled in annoyance, "Something's wrong! I'm not sure how but I'm getting locked out of the portal. I'm trying to get you to Lothal but..."
"You're our only hope, Bridger," Jason stated as he knew he was running low on ammo.
The boy looked between his protecters, the Stormtroopers, and their means of escape. He wanted to help but he was unsure what to do. Suddenly, images of keys flashed in his mind...
...images of key shaped weapons, strange new worlds, and three friends laying beneath the same stars...
...suddenly much to everyone's shock. A giant key flashed to Sora's side at the Stormtroopers, knocking them back, and went for the portal. Light swirled around the tip of the key before firing a beam of light at the portal unlocking a pathway. To a whole new world. Red Hood stared at the boy and the key before the latter vanished.
Still, he wasn't one to look a gift horse in the mouth, "Okay... let's get out of here..."
Both the remaining Stormtroopers could catchup to them. The three went through the portal and into the unknown while the portal closed behind them.
With their target gone, the remaining Stormtroopers halted their pursuit. One pulled out a transmission device and Thrawn appeared, "Report. Do you have the key?"
"I'm sorry, sir," The Stormtrooper reported, "But the key has been taken by a unforeseen rebel..."
"The Red Hood," The Grand Admiral realized, "Ezra Bridger, and the mutt we used as a test. Unfortunate, but not unforeseen." He then assumed, "The boy used the Keyblade to access the portal despite its... setbacks."
"Yes, sir," The Trooper nodded, "Took out some of our men before it did."
"Good," Grand Admiral smirked, "It doesn't matter where or when they go, we have men everywhere, the boy will be ours and Project Kingdom will bring order not just to the galaxy but to every world in existence." He then ordered, "Return to my ship for debriefing."
"Yes, Grand Admiral." The Stormtroopers nodded.
"Long live the Empire," Thrawn smirked as the transmission ended...
And that will conclude the first chapter. I kinda had the idea for this based on the Mandalorian. If you seen that series, you know what I mean.
So, Jason and Ace are able to rescue Sora thanks to Ezra, and escape thanks to the future hero. But we all know Thrawn won't give up so easily. What is Project Kingdom? Where did our heroes end up? What allies will he make? What enemies will he make? Stay turned for the next chilling chapter...
I hope you enjoyed the chapter, be sure to leave a review, also don't forget to leave a follow and fav. as well. Okay, see ya next time!
