Jamie stopped himself from moving back towards the door. He heard soft moaning coming from the corner of the room. He squirmed a bit. He'd never been very comfortable around dead bodies. Another pit began to form in his stomach when he saw a hand move in the corner of the room. Swallowing his fear, he went over to the small pile of bodies in the corner. He saw the hand keep moving. He looked to the guard and pointed at him.

"Help me get this person out. They are probably suffocating under all these bodies."

The guard nodded and helped Jamie push the bodies away, only to reveal a woman who was very much alive. Jamie and the guard helped the as of yet nameless woman sit down against the wall. Jamie put a hand on her shoulder as she looked around and introduced himself with his undercover persona.

"I'm Doctor Stevenson. Just take it easy and breathe. That's it. Can you tell me how you got in here? What's your name?"

The woman swayed a little and closed her eyes. Opening them she took another breath and let it out slowly.

"My name is Lisa. I-I don't remember how I got here. I was in labor, and the next thing I know, I'm waking up here. Where's my baby?"

Jamie gave out a quiet sigh and looked Lisa in the eye.

"Are you hurt anywhere Lisa? Are you in any pain?"

Lisa moved slightly and let out another breath. Jamie took his starch white lab coat off and draped it over Lisa.

"A little. Where's my baby?"

Jamie gave Lisa a sympathetic look.

"We can talk about that once we get you back upstairs and cleaned up. Can you stand?"

Lisa did her best to try and get to her feet with Jamie's help, but her legs shook and then buckled. Jamie managed to wrap the starch white lab coat around her more and hooked a left arm under her knees and picked her up.

"I've got you. It's kind of far up to the house."

The guard who's name Jamie had never learned held his arms out to take Lisa. He only knew him as Officer Ferguson. If he really was an officer with the NYPD, he'd figure it out.

"Doc, I've got her."

Jamie could do nothing. He could only follow along and let the guard put the black hood over his head and one over Lisa's. Jamie kept talking to her the whole way up the long winding staircase.

"Everything's going to be ok Lisa. I promise."

When the three of them got to the top of the staircase, The guard stopped Jamie.

"Sorry doc, but you have to be quiet now."

Jamie grit his teeth and nodded. Him and Lisa were both taken through the door at the top of the staircase. The air was much warmer here. The hoods on both of their heads were removed and Jamie pointed towards the bathroom, the guard carried Lisa inside and placed her on the edge of the tub.

"I'll get Doc Matthews in here. I'll be back."

Jamie looked into Lisa's eyes and pointed towards the wall of the bathtub.

"There's a grab bar right there. Hold onto that. That way if you get dizzy, you won't fall into the tub."

Lisa grabbed the bar and held on while Jamie washed his hands in the sink. Drying his hands, he reached into the cupboard under the sink and pulled out a small pile of wash cloths. Putting some warm water on it and some soap, he looked at Lisa and held it towards her.

"Is it ok if I get some of this dirt off your face?"

Lisa nodded and Jamie carefully and gently started to wipe away the dirt smudges from her face. It took him a minute to realize that these weren't dirt smudges. He grew concerned and put down the washcloth for a moment, sitting down next to her on the edge of the tub.

"Lisa, I know your very confused about what's going on right now, but do you remember how you got these bruises on your face?"

Lisa looked away and swiped some tears from her eyes with her free hand.

"I don't want to talk about it."

The pit in Jamie's stomach began to grow again. This was the second woman he'd come across with bruises on her face. Setting the washcloth on the side of the tub next to him, Jamie went for a pair of gloves. His mind was solely on keeping up his undercover persona right now. He removed the starch white lab coat from around her and set it in the laundry bin by the door. He noticed the hospital gown she was wearing was as filthy as the one Sienna was wearing. His frown deepened as he looked at her arms. This worried him. But what worried him more was when his eyes landed on her middle. Averting his eyes up to Lisa's face, his expression softened.

"Lisa, do I have your permission to examine your belly?"

Lisa nodded and looked down at herself.

"Yes. What's going on?"

Jamie knew Lisa was worried about her baby, and his gut told him that there was something wrong, but he'd have to wait for Doctor Matthews to confirm his suspicions. He knew to be gentle, just like Doctor Matthews had instructed him. He looked up to see her enter the bathroom. He cleared his throat and informed her of the situation.

"Doctor Matthews, this is Lisa. I found her while I was checking up on Sienna. She needs stronger antibiotics by the way, her infection is getting worse and now she has the beginnings of Pneumonia. Lisa here was knocked unconscious and locked in a room maybe 100 feet from Sienna. I don't know how long she's been down there, but I think she may still be in labor. I examined her belly and I felt a foot and the baby's head here."

Jamie moved his left hand slightly to show Doctor Matthews his findings. Now it was Doctor Matthews turn to get a pit in her stomach. Her face paled and she looked Lisa in the eye.

"Ok Lisa, lets get you into something clean and into bed. Looks like your baby is on the way."

Lisa got tears in her eyes.

"Is my baby ok?"

Doctor Matthews took a breath and let it out slowly.

"Everything is going to be just fine Lisa. Doctor Stevenson and I will make sure of that."

Jamie felt physically sick to his stomach. He didn't like where this was going. Excusing himself from the bathroom, he gave Doctor Matthews and Lisa some privacy so that she could help her get into something clean. A few minutes later, they were helping Lisa into bed. Oxygen was given to her through a nasal cannula and the bed adjusted. Jamie watched as Doctor Matthews rolled the ultrasound machine over, quickly pouring a small amount of gel onto Lisa's belly and moved the wand over it carefully.

"Ok, baby's got a good heart beat. Above 140."

Lisa looked at the screen and swallowed, then she spoke.

"So their ok?"

Doctor Matthews nodded her head, turning off and rolling the ultrasound machine away.

"Yes, but I'll need to perform an exam real quick to determine how far dilated you are. I want you to relax and put your feet up here. There you go."

Jamie squeezed Lisa's hand as he heard her give a soft groan. He did his best to comfort her.

"It's ok. She's almost done."

He had to focus on the task at hand here. But his mind kept going back to Eddie. Was she ok? Was Patrick still with her? His head snapped back to attention when Doctor Matthews spoke to Lisa.

"Ok all done. I know. I'm sorry that was uncomfortable. The baby is in the correct position, and your water broke some time ago. I'm guessing awhile since we don't exactly have a time frame from the time you were in labor earlier and the time you woke up in that locked room downstairs. You've been having regular contractions right?"

Lisa nodded her head.

"Yes. But I can't remember when I had the last one."

Doctor Matthews proceeded to place a fetal monitor around her belly then fixed the blankets.

"This'll monitor the baby and the contractions when they come up. Have some rest."

Lisa nodded and closed her eyes. Jamie helped put the covers over her and then looked at Doctor Matthews. He motioned for her to go towards the window so they could talk in hushed tones.

"I found her in a locked up room with at least 20 bodies."

Doctor Matthews looked at Jamie with a confused expression.

"Bodies? As in dead bodies?"

Jamie nodded and sat down in a chair.

"Yes. She was buried under three bodies. Apparently Rolanil, after these women give birth, he's been giving them something to stop their hearts and putting their bodies in there. There are more rooms like that below this house."

Doctor Matthews gave him a hard to read look.

"How is it that she even survived in that room? How is her baby still alive?"

Jamie shook his head and shrugged his shoulders.
"That I don't know. Did you get a chance to check on Sienna yet?"

Doctor Matthews became quiet. Jamie could barely hear her answer, so he leaned closer to her.

"It was too late by the time I got to her. She must've passed in her sleep."

Jamie gripped the arm rests of the chair he was sitting in.

"We can't just let more women die. There's more rooms with bodies. But its going to take time to identify each and every one one of them."

The pieces to the puzzle were starting to come together in the big picture of things. But the one huge piece that was missing were the babies. Where were the babies going? Were they going to unsuspecting adoptive parents thinking they were adopting their kids through a reputable city/state run facility? All these things and more were swirling around in Jamie's head. Nothing was for certain anymore. He couldn't let anymore babies be taken away from their mother's. Eddie included. Doctor Matthews looked at Jamie and a frown appeared on her face.

"Lisa is exhausted. I don't know if she'll have enough strength to deliver this baby mostly on her terms. You and I are here to basically just catch. We don't know what this baby's condition will be once they come out. We have to be ready for anything."

Jamie gave Erica a look.

"Anything? That's kind of a relative term. You yourself said we don't have everything we need here. I'm not trained for any of this stuff. Just what you've been showing me. That C-section with Eddie, really put things into perspective for me. I really appreciate what you as a doctor does on a daily basis. Thank-you."

Doctor Matthews looked at Jamie and was about to say something in response, but the monitors next to Lisa's bed began to beep rapidly. She let out a cry and looked towards the pair by the window.

"I think I need to push! Please help me!"

Jamie swallowed his nervousness and put his professional mask back on. He looked Lisa in the eye.

"Just breathe Lisa. Everything is going to be ok."

Lisa nodded and took a deep breath in and let it out. Jamie gave her a sympathetic gaze and she grabbed for his hand.

"I don't know if I can do this!"

Looking her straight in the eye, Jamie gave her a confident look.

"Yes you can Lisa. I'm going to tell you the same thing I told my wife: You can do this. Your strong. Soon you'll have a beautiful baby in your arms. Healthy and beautiful and yours. I'm going to let got of your hand for a minute ok? Let's get your feet up here."

Lisa nodded her head and accepted Jamie's help. She looked at Doctor Matthews and gave her a concerned look.

"What's wrong?"

Doctor Matthews gave Lisa a smile.

"Good news. I can see the baby's head. I want you to give me a push. Good. Keep going. That's it. One more and the head will be out. I promise. Good job mama, one more and the head will be out. Good! Here come the shoulders. One more. One more for me mama. Ok! Looks like you have a beautiful baby girl!"

Lisa felt herself fall back against the pillows behind her. Jamie felt a smile come to his face as Doctor Matthews held up the screaming little girl. Lisa let out a sob.

"Thank you, Doctor Matthews! Thank you, Doctor Stevenson! She's beautiful!"

Jamie let go of Lisa's hand and went over to where Doctor Matthews was sitting, grabbing for a pair of scissors after he pulled on a pair of gloves. Cutting the umbilical cord, he gently took the little girl in his arms and placed her on top of Lisa's chest.

"Oh my god. She's beautiful. Thank you!"

The smile stayed plastered on Jamie's face, another healthy baby brought into the world. But not a safe one. Not in this house at least. He had to protect these mothers and their children. He didn't want any more bodies to keep piling up, and he'd only been to one room. Who knew how many more bodies there actually were below the house.

To Be Continued…

A/N: So, what'd you guys think? So, I'm slowly getting all my ideas together. What will Jamie and Doctor Matthews do next? What will happen to Eddie and Patrick? Is Officer Ferguson really who he says he is?
