A/N The elf Hanbey's name is spelle but I keep getting an auto correct t Y. Just fyi so there is no confusion. I will try to correct it but just in case.

When Harry got home he wrote Hermione a letter to let her know they would be going to an amusement park the next day. He introduced her to Hedwig and explained why he was sending her and Loki. He wanted to make sure Hedwig could find her in France.

The next morning Harry got a reply,

Harry,

Your owl Hedwig is beautiful, not that Loki is not, but the white feathers are lovely.

You'll have a great time tomorrow, I hope Remus can keep up with Sirius! Let me know all about it and take pictures!

Our car is all packed and we are ready to leave for the airport tomorrow. We're planning to see the National Library of France and I'm excited about it.

You probably shouldn't send me a letter tomorrow because we'll be on a plane, I thought of that after we left the Leaky caldron today.

My parents are really happy to have two weeks off from their dental practice, and they are excited about the trip. I'm trying to be, but it just seems like a long time for a vacation, all the other ones we've taken have been one week.

Have a great time tomorrow!

Love,

Hermione

Harry read the letter twice and started his letter to encourage Hermione.

Dear Hermione,

You are going to have a great time in France!

I really hope you have a good time with your parents. Having parents and being away from them for so long at Hogwarts would be hard I think.

The library sounds awesome, don't forget to tell me about it.

I have to go, Sirius is yelling for me to go eat breakfast.

Harry left his room to go downstairs and he ate breakfast with Sirius and Remus, both who were already dressed in muggle clothes.

"Hey pup, we'll be leaving right after breakfast." Sirius said.

"Are you ready Master Harry? Do you need anything?" Hanbey asked.

"Can we get pictures? I want to show them to Hermione." Harry asked, looking around the table.

"Good morning Master Harry." Mariy said. She was carrying a tray with hot chocolates on it.

Harry stood up to help her. "I got it, good morning Mairy." He said and sat the tray on the table. Since Harry started to get taller than the elfs he tried to help when he could.

She sat down and started to eat also. They talked about where they thought the camera had been left.

Sirius and Remus let them talk, then Sirius raised his wand and said, "Accio Potter camera." A minute later a camera floated into the room and Remus caught it out of the air.

"Thanks, I'm going to have to remember that one." Harry said and took the camera from Remus to familiarize himself with it again.

Hanbey and Mairy were going with them today. Sirius had put the offer to any elf who wanted to go but it seemed no one else wanted too. Remus and Sirius both know Hanbey and Mairy were the two who primarily got Harry out of the manor.

Once everyone was fed and Harry had finished getting ready, they took Harry and apparated to a nearby apparition point then caught a taxi. Hanbey and Mairy were wearing their jewelry to make them look like humans so they looked like a regular group of people to the non magical folk.

When they got to the amusement park Harry was amazed at the size of it. He'd seen pictures and Hermione showed him pictures from when her family went but he didn't realize how big it really was and he was surprised.

They rode every ride they could and Sirius got sick once. Remus teased him mercilessly and Harry tried not to laugh at the teasing, but he did. Neither Hanbey or Mairy rode any rides, they kept watch. Harry saw them watching the crowd and he knew they were making sure he was safe.

Harry took pictures, and a stranger had taken a picture of all five of them using the Potter camera. Harry ate fried foods and he saw Mairy put a corndog in her pocket. He didn't know why she did it, but he thought it was interesting.

When it was time to go they took a taxi to the apparition point then went home. Harry sat on the couch in the living room and promptly fell asleep.

Hi Hermione, I'm back. We went to the amusement park yesterday and it was so much fun! After we rode a roller coaster Sirius got sick and Remus teased him, it was funny. Sirius was fine, he only rode a few things after that though.

Hanbey and Mairy went too, but they didn't ride anything. It seemed like they were on guard for trouble the whole time. I want to figure out something nice I can do for the elfs. They have worked so hard for me, especially Hanbey and Mairy.

I was so tired I fell asleep on the couch when we got home last night!

We took pictures and I can't wait to show them to you when you get back. I hope you are taking pictures too.

I'm going to go, I have defense lessons at 1 today and it's 12:45 here. I'm going to send this with Hedwig.

I miss you, but I hope you're having a great time!

Love

Harry

Harry,

France is amazing! They have so many museums and libraries! Mum and Dad are out to dinner with just the two of them and I'm not allowed to leave the hotel room. I had boeuf bourguignon for dinner and it was delicious.

Will you please keep a list of what you learn without me? I don't want to fall behind.

Tomorrow we're going to the Louvre, and I'm pretty excited. There are several paintings I want to try to see in person. Books do a great job of showing the art work and explaining it but it's exciting to think about what I might be seeing in person tomorrow. They have a magical part of the museum but I don't know if we'll be able to find it.

I've been reading our second year's potions book and do you realize Remus and Sirius have almost taken us through the whole book? Of course I knew we were working out of the book but I didn't realize when we start school we'll have made every potion for the first year and the second year!

I think it's going to be hard to be away from home for so long. I mean we've spent nights at each other's houses, but nothing compared to the months we'll be at Hogwarts. I'm starting to get a little nervous. I mean I'm glad we'll be getting a magical education and everything but being away from my parents is going to be hard.

I'm glad you had fun at the amusement park! The rides are so exciting, maybe we can go together next summer?

Hedwig is sleeping, so I might have to wait until tomorrow to send this letter. I don't want to wake her.

I miss you too, and I am having a great time!

Love

Hermione

Dear Hermione,

I had to give Hedwig a day off, she's been flying a lot for us.

I already started a list of anything I learn while you are gone, you didn't have to tell me. Do I know you or what?

Hanbey said he thinks I am ready to do a practice test for the GCSE. I guess it's a good idea but it makes me a little nervous. He said it will help us know what I need to work on because I should be taking the tests by the end of July next year. Since we are learning magical things and keeping up on our muggle studies we are going to be busy at Hogwarts.

How do you feel about going to Hogwarts? Between us, I am really nervous. I feel like our family is all here, finally! At least as much family as I could have. I mean now we have not just the elf's and your parents we have Sirius and Remus who were my parents best friends. I feel like I just got them and now I have to leave. I don't know.

I've never been in classes with anyone other than you either. Sirius says the class size depends on the year size but we could be in a room with twenty or twenty five other students with one teacher!

And what if I don't get along with other kids? I mean we get along fine but that's because you're great. What happens if other kids don't like you?

Maybe I'm just a coward, I don't know.

How's France?

I really miss you Hermione!

Love,

Harry

Dear Harry,

First, don't worry so much! Second, you are wonderful Harry, you will get along with a lot of other kids.

You are in no way a coward! I think it's smart to look ahead and try to figure out strengths and challenges. Have you talked to Sirius and Remus about how you are feeling? They might have a way for you to talk to them when we are at Hogwarts, if they do I think that will really help.

France is awesome. We are going to a lot of museums and the National Library of France is wonderful. I could spend the rest of my time there and be completely happy.

I miss you. I see a lot of things and think, 'Harry would really like that.' It's hard to be without you for so long.

Let me know what Sirius and Remus say about ways for us to talk to them when we are at Hogwarts. I might try to do the same thing with my parents.

Love and hugs,

Hermione

Harry was still thinking about his last letter from Hermione after his charms lesson with Sirius was over. He was helping clean up the room when Harry decided to talk.

"Sirius, maybe this sounds like I'm being too much of a child, but will there be any way to talk to you and Remus and the elfs when we're at Hogwarts?" Harry asked.

Harry looked up at Sirius when he didn't answer and saw he was looking at the wall. Remus was in the room behind the wall. It had been set up as an office for the two adults in the house.

Sirius looked at Harry, then he sat on the floor. "Sit." He sat and patted the floor.

Harry sat next to Sirius and looked at him.

"It's normal to be nervous when you go to Hogwarts. You go from being home all the time to being gone for months at a time, and it's a difficult adjustment. I understand if you're worried about the adjustment." Sirius said.

Harry didn't say anything, he was waiting for the answer to his question.

"I'm not going to tell you exactly what yet, but yes, there will be a way for you both to talk to Remus, at least one of the elf's, and myself every day." Sirius said with a smile. "There will also be a way for Hermione to talk to her parents."

Harry waited for another minute but Sirius didn't elaborate. He thanked Sirius and went to the class room for a lesson.

Hermione,

I talked to Sirius after charms (yes, I added it to the list). He said that there will be a way for us to talk to him, Remus and at least one of the elf's every day when we are at Hogwarts. He also said there would be a way for you to talk to your parents. He didn't explain though.

It seems like they are doing something that they aren't telling us, but I guess we will find out.

We're going to the zoo tomorrow and I'm excited about it. I wish you were here and we were going together.

I forgot to tell you something, Sirius is now my magical guardian. Can you think about asking Remus to be your magical guardian? If not then it will be our head of house, whoever that ends up being.

Maybe Hogwarts will be alright. Since you've been gone I've realized I don't like being in class by myself much anymore. I really miss you.

I haven't played any pranks on Sirius since you've been gone. I do have everything ready for the pranks we are playing on him before we go to Hogwarts, don't worry.

I really miss you, everything is better when we are together.

Love

Harry

P.S. Keep Hedwig with you for a day to give her some rest.

Harry, Remus, Sirius and a human looking Hanbey went to the zoo the next day. Harry rode a camel and saw monkeys tossing a ball back and forth.

The following day Sirius, Remus and Harry went into muggle London. They bought presents for Hermione for her birthday and saw a movie at the movie theater. Harry was very impressed as it was the first time he had been to a movie theater. They stopped in Diagon Alley on the way home and bought more clothing and a few more gifts for Hermione.

Hedwig was waiting for him when he got home

Dear Harry,

I hope you had fun at the zoo.

Of course Sirius and Remus are planning something! They are Sirius and Remus, I think they are usually planning something. Remember how your Dad, Remus, Sirius and Peter called themselves the marauders? If what they are planning will help us stay in communication I'm probably going to love it.

We went shopping today and Mum bought a lot of clothes! She usually doesn't buy much for herself so I'm glad. Much more and we're going to need an elf to get them back home though.

France has been wonderful, but honestly I'm ready to go home. They go out most nights together and that's fine, but I get lonely. I think that's what you are feeling too. We are used to being together most days.

I think asking Remus to be my magical guardian is a great idea, thanks for bringing it up! I wrote him a note, please give it to him.

I let Hedwig rest yesterday, I don't know if she can apparate this far.

I miss you!

Love and hugs,

Hermione

Harry read his letter and then gave Remus the letter that was wrapped inside his.

"What? No letter for me?" Sirius said, smiling.

"Hush and I'll read mine out loud." Remus said.

They sat down on the couch together and Remus read his letter,

Dear Remus,

I hope you and Sirius are well.

Harry and I have read and talked about magical guardians, and I was wondering if you would please consider being my magical guardian? If you would rather not, I understand and there will be no hard feelings. I can ask Sirius.

France is wonderful, but to be honest I am ready to come home.

I miss everyone at Potter manor!

Love,

Hermione

"If you don't want to be her guardian, I certainly will." Sirius said.

"Nope, I will, she's too smart for you to be her guardian." Remus said. Sirius punched him in the arm.

Harry was smiling at the two men. "Come on Padfoot, come outside and race me." Harry said and watched his Godfather transform to the black dog and they ran outside.

Remus picked up the daily profit that had been left on the side table and sighed. The headline on the front page was concerning. 'Boy-Who-Lived going to Hogwarts?'

He put the paper back down on the side table. Remus had already ready the story and it was all about the possibility of Harry being at Hogwarts and what it meant for everyone. No one mentioned what it would mean for the child though. He sighed again.

He was happy and grateful about the plans he and Sirius had made. He went to the classroom to write a letter to Hermione to send with Harry's next letter.

Dear Hermione,

I am glad you are enjoying France, and I understand missing home.

We all miss you very much!

I would be happy to be your magical guardian! Sirius also volunteered, but I told him you are too smart for him to be your guardian. We will get it sorted when you get back so it will be in place when you get to Hogwarts. Thank you for asking me.

Enjoy the rest of your time in France!

Remus

Remus folded the letter just as a Hogwarts owl was knocking on the window. He took the letter off the owl and realized it was for him.

Mr. Lupin,

As we suspected, once the news was made public I received a few withdrawals. Not near as man as you suspected though. I have a total of four.

As I said at our meeting, it's worth it. I also want to remind you that I have a signed contract and I don't want you to back out.

Respectfully,

Minerva McGonagall

Headmistress of Hogwarts

Remus raised his eyebrows at the number four. He had suspected at least forty, but probably more. He refolded the letter and put it in his pocket to show Sirius later.

Remus went over everything they would need come September first and he felt ready. He thought he would go have a chat with Hanbey to make sure he and Mairy were still alright with everything.

The letters continued between Harry and Hermione. Hermione was thrilled that Remus would become her magical guardian and so were her parents. When the family left France it was with a daughter eager to be home and parents who were eager to stay in France.

They were invited for dinner on their first night back and Harry was standing near the bookcase eagerly.

"What time did their plane get in?" Harry yelled out the door of the classroom.

"Harry," Remus said as he entered the classroom, "I don't know, but they aren't expected for another ten minutes.

"Sorry." Harry said, but then looked up at Remus and said, "I really missed her."

"I know, and if I didn't know it was obvious by Hedwig always coming and going." He said and ruffled Harry's hair. He saw him try to smooth down the notoriously messy Potter hair and smiled.

Thankfully, the bookcase opened.

"Harry!" A fast moving Hermione launched herself at Harry. Thankfully, the boy was solidly made and kept them upright.

"Hermione! I missed you!" Harry said.

They hugged for another minute while Remus greeted the Granger parents.

"Hi Remus!" Hermione said and Remus bent down for his hug while Harry greeted Dan and Emma.

Hermione went back to Harry and took his hand, starting to talk all about France. They started walking towards the dining room and the three adults followed with a smile.

Dinner was full of lively conversation about France. The Grangers had brought small gifts for Remus, Sirius, Harry, Hanbey and Mairy. The elves tried not to cry at the gifts but they were grateful. Harry had a print of one of Hermione's favorite paintings and she explained all about it. There was a plan made for Remus to become Hermione's magical guardian the following day, and Hermione wanted to go to the book store too.

After dinner was over and the conversation was starting to die down the group went to the living room where Remus and Sirius started the conversation.

"We have some news that I think will be well received." Remus started, and nodded to Sirius.

"We are going to be teachers at Hogwarts." Sirius said.

It took a few seconds to sink in, then Harry asked, "Really? Are you both going to be at Hogwarts?" A big smile was spreading across his face.

"Yes, we are both going to be at Hogwarts. Headmistress McGonagall contacted us a while ago about it and we've had a few meetings. Professor Snape left when Dumbledore was sentenced, so she had two positions open. Professor Slughorn is going to be your potions professor. She said there was a rumor about a curse being on the defense against the dark arts position, so it was split. Instead of taking Defense against the dark arts, you will be taking Practical Defense and Theory of Defense. Sirius and I will be teaching the two classes." Remus finished and smiled.

Harry ran up and hugged him. "I'm so glad, I feel like we just found each other and then I was going to have to say bye to you guys for months." Harry said and moved to hug Sirius too.

"I know pup, I'm glad things worked out this way too. We'll also be co-heads of Gryffindor," Sirius said and wiggled his eyebrows.

"Can we ask the hat to put us in Gryffindor then? Is it alright to be in your house if you are our magical guardians?" Hermione asked.

"We've already checked with Headmaster McGonagall, and she said it was fine if you ended up in our house." Remus said with a smile. "We also have a small gift that we have been working on for a while." Remus said and nodded to Sirius. He passed out six mirrors.

"Dan and Emma, I will need a single drop of your blood." Sirius said and the Granger parents looked at each other and shrugged, their trust in the wizard was evident.

Sirius put a drop on Dan's blood in the correct place and performed a bit of magic that was silent so Harry and Hermione didn't know what spell was used. Remus did the same for Emma, then the pair of marauders sat down, looking like the cat that ate the canary.

"Okay Emma. look in the mirror and say Hermione's name." Remus said.

"Hermione." Emma said.

"My mirror is getting warm…?" Hermione said.

"You look in the mirror and say Hermione here." Sirius said and Hermione did, then squealed with delight at seeing her Mom in her mirror and hearing her in the mirror and sitting across from her..

"Wait, will these work while Hermione is at Hogwarts?" Dan asked, looking excited.

"Yes, all you have to do is look straight in the mirror and say the name of the person you want to talk to. When you answer, say your name, then here. When you are finished with the conversation, say your name and 'out' for the mirror to close." Remus explained and Dan. Emma and Hermione were experimenting.

Harry looked at Remus and Sirius, "Thank you." He said and both the marauders nodded.

"It's something your Mother helped us to create at school, we just added a bit." Sirius said. With that he explained the charm that would expand the mirror to double the size with a charm, and a button on the back of Dan and Emma's mirrors. He showed how all six of them could be on a call at the same time. They could also make individual calls and not have to worry about whether any of the others were using the mirror also.

Dan got up and shook Remus and Sirius's hands. "Thank you, this will allow us to keep in touch with Hermione and we really appreciate it." He said.

"I understand, we took jobs at the school so we wouldn't be away from our pup." Sirius said jokingly, but Harry was thankful.

The evening drew to a close, with Hermione coming over in the morning. When Hermione hugged Harry he whispered to her, "I'm glad you're home." He said in her ear.

"Me too Harry." She said.

With only two weeks left before they went to Hogwarts the next few days were busy. Remus became Hermione's magical guardian. Harry showed Hermione everything he learned when she was on vacation. Hanbey and Mairy made plans with Harry and Hermione on their schedule for learning muggle subjects.

Hanbey was a very busy elf. He and Mairy were going to Hogwarts with Sirius and Remus and there was a lot to do to get Potter manor ready for his departure. He had to choose an elf to be in charge and the decision was made when he realized the most important thing had to be security and unity. It was a grateful, only slightly crying Dokey that accepted the position.

There was a bit more shopping; muggle clothes, a few everyday robes and another four dozen books split evenly between the children. Remus and Sirius made sure to get more parchment and muggle notebooks to make lesson planning easier.

On the evening of August thirty first all three of the Grangers, Remus, Sirius and Harry were in the living room finalizing plans. There were two trunks for the two children, two trunks for the two new professors and two small bags for the elf's that had who knows what in it lined up in the classroom. Hermione would call her parents in the mirror at nine thirty after the sorting and the feast to let them know she was alright. Most parents would be curious what house their child was in but the parents knew any house would be fine as long as Hermione and Harry winded up together.

As the two Uncles and the two Granger parents talked Remus was drawn to Harry and Hermione's hands. They were sitting next to each other on the couch and each had a book on their lap. They weren't quite holding hands but their fingers were touching and where their fingers touched you could see the magic from one child arc into the other child and vice versa. Remus had seen magical sparks between them before but thought it was just their accidental magic, or their magic settling.

Remus nudged Sirius to look at the children and he did. Remus turned back to Dan and Emma to get back in the conversation, and just as he was going to say something Sirius fell off his chair.

As soon as Sirius stood back up Harry started to laugh. Hermione was giggling but then yawned.

"I think it's time for bed. We have a big day tomorrow and I don't want anyone too tired to get up on time." Remus said.

Sirius made a grand bow and got claps and hugs from Harry and Hermione. Hermione hugged her parents and kissed their cheeks. She promised to remember to call them in the mirror tomorrow before she goes to sleep.

Hermione was staying the night and the elves were going to pop Sirius, Remus, Hermione and Harry to platform nine and three quarters to get them on the train before heading to Hogwarts.

Harry gave Emma a hug and shook Dan's hand before he put his arm around Hermione's shoulders and they walked to their respective rooms.

Remus waited until the children were gone before putting up silencing charms and called Hanbey.

"What's going on?" Dan asked.

"Yes Master Remus." Hanbey said when he popped in with his pajamas on.

"Hanbey, we aren't upset, but we need to know. Have you noticed magic sparking back and forth between Harry and Hermione?" Remus asked.

"Yes Master Remus." Hanbey said.

"Why didn't you say anything?" Sirius asked.

"I thought yous knew it already. It happens all the time." Hanbey said.

Mairy popped in now wearing a nightdress to the floor. "Master Remus. Master Sirius. You leave those children alone." She said, looking fierce.

"What's going on?" Dan asked, now sounding more urgent.

It was Sirius that explained. "We noticed their magic sparking between them."

"Yes." Emma said.

"You've noticed it too?" Remus asked.

"Yeah. Like Hanbey said, it happens all the time. Especially when they hug." Dan said.

Remus sat back down. "It means they have some sort of bond between them." He said.

The other three adults sat down now.

"Yours doesn't do that?" Emma asked.

Remus shook Sirius's hand so they could see there were no sparks.

"What does a bond between them mean?" Dan asked.

"It means when they get older they are likely to be together, as boyfriend and girlfriend." Sirius said.

"We figured that because they are very close." Dan said.

"Sirius, you aren't explaining it well. The only way their magic would spark back and forth like that is if there was a strong bond, like a soul bond. A soul bond is a very wonderful thing in our world. Both Harry and Hermione have a choice, they don't have to be together or anything like that, but it means they have their perfect match in each other. There is a magical wedding about a dozen times a year, and of that twelve there may be three soul bound couples…? I don't know the statistics, but it's a good guess I think." Remus said, and looked at Sirius.

"I think three is pretty generous." Sirius said.

"What we are trying to say is that a soul bond is a beautiful, wonderful thing that all wizards and witches hope to find but very few actually do. It's amazing that they are so young and have found it." Remus said.

Dan and Emma looked at each other. "What are the down sides to this bond?" She asked.

"Different soul bound people pick up different abilities. They may be able to talk to each other mentally before too long. Sensing where the other one is located is another possible benefit and likely a dozen more but I don't know all the benefits. The downside is they will be able to use the others' magic." Remus finished and sighed.

"Why is that bad?" Dan asked.

"They are still learning, they may already be pulling on each other's magic and not know it. This could hurt the magical person that is getting their magic puled if they pull too much. We'll have to have a talk with them soon, I don't think it's a danger to either of them anytime soon." Sirius said.

"So the reason that both of you look like that is that it's very rare. Hermione still has a choice in everything, but if she chooses Harry they might have a great marriage. The downside is them possibly hurting the other by pulling on each other's magic too much. Do I have that right?" Emma asked.

Sirius and Remus nodded their heads.

"Well," Dan said and stood up, "We're not worried then. I know my daughter, and I have known your boy for years. I know, wait, I am completely positive that those two kids would rather die than hurt the other." he said and helped a smiling Emma stand up.

"I'm knackered dears, talk tomorrow, in the mirrors.' She said and Remus and Sirius got up to say goodbye and walk them to the bookcase in the classroom.

Little did the four adults know, a pair of eleven year old's were sitting upstairs looking through the slants on the stairs. A pair of eleven year olds that knew the counter charm to the silencing spell had heard the whole conversation.

As the adults left the room Hermione and Harry scooted back to get up off the floor. They started softly walking the hall and Harry started to go into his room.

"No, my bed is bigger and I have better pillows." Hermione whispered and Harry nodded, then followed her into her room.

Hermione put up her own silencing charm, then her own ward to let her know if the charm had been canceled.

"Okay, we can talk." She said and got on the bed with Harry.

"At least now we know what it's called." Harry said.

"And that we still have choices." Hermione said.

"Hey, I would never force you into anything, well anything that isn't a prank on Remus or Sirius." Harry said.

Hermione kissed the end of his indignant nose. "I know silly, and you don't force me into anything, I love making those two laugh." Hermione said and smiled.

"Pinky swear?" Harry asked, holding out his finger.

Hermione got on her knees so they were both on their knees, facing each other. This was their favorite position for the pinky swears.

"I, Hermione, promise to never hurt you Harry by pulling on your magic too much." Hermione said.

"I, Harry, promise to never hurt you Hermione by pulling on your magic too much." Harry said.

There was a soft golden light that formed around their hands, then both children closed their eyes.

"It's on mine, is it on yours?" Hermione asked.

Harry read through his small list of pinky swears that he could bring up like a book page in his mind and right there it was, last on his list. "Yep, got it." He said.

Satisfied, they both lay down and pulled a comforter over them and their favorite book to read together, Hogwarts; A history.

The adults had not known anything happened, but two elf's did.

Hanbey and Mairy silently popped away, smiling.
