Well, kids, Auntie Risha sent us a holo, says she's coming for a visit and she's bringing y'all a present.
What is it?
Could be anything. I'm sure your Mama knows, but I'm gonna be just as surprised as you when she gets here. And that reminds me of the time that the Captain and I went hunting for treasure for Aunt Risha.
You see, kids, Aunt Risha was on a giant Treasure Hunt. She had some mysterious clues that she was following, but in order to get to the place it was hidden, she had to get a starship, a fast one, and install special modifications to make it able to navigate in and out.
The Skylark's the fastest ship in the galaxy!
You bet your britches she is! Your Mama and I had been running deliveries for her, all while trying to get ahead of Skavak...
THAT NO GOOD SON OF A HUTT!
...who was hunting the treasure as well. But we were beating him at every turn. No matter where we went, whenever we found his goons, we blasted them and got away clean. He was losing his mind. Every so often he'd call us on the holo, or we'd find a comm on one of his guys, and we'd call him. We'd exchange a few threats, a few insults, and then we'd move on. It was almost a relief when Auntie Risha told us that she had the last piece for the Skylark. We went and docked on Nar Shaddaa in this swanky private hanger way beyond the Main Promenade. Auntie Risha installed the upgraded flare shielding, and then we set off.
We took Auntie Risha's last delivery with us. It was a man frozen in Carbonite, but when we got inside the house attached to the hanger, the doc who met us unfroze him right away. It was Risha's father, the famous pirate Nok Drayen! He told us that he'd been poisoned and that there was no cure, but he didn't want to die before seeing Risha a grown woman, claiming the treasure that was rightfully hers.
What was the treasure Daddy?
A crown, pumpkin. You see, Risha's Daddy was the rightful heir to the throne of Dubrillion. He would've been the king, except bad guys took over the throne when his Grandfather was alive. Nok Drayen had been trying to gather a fortune to retake his throne when he was poisoned, so he hid his treasure and escaped with his daughter, then froze himself like a popsicle until Risha was a grown up. But he had the code to the treasure's lock, so she had to wake him up before we left.
So your Mama and I had to go retrieve the royal treasure, right? Sounds simple...except it was on an abandoned ship that was drifting just within the grasp of a SUPERMASSIVE BLACK HOLE! We actually had to fly into its grasp in order to go get it. That's why we needed the special upgrades to the Skylark-no regular vessel could get out of there without a special engine. Your Mama turned to me.
"Ready for the ride of your life, farmboy?" she asked me. Well, was I ever. We left Nar Shaddaa and headed to the edge of the outer rim. When we got there, we saw it. The Black Hole. Spacers called it 'The Long Shadow', and it was just a strip of blackness that stretched all the way across the horizon. But your Mama always loves a little risk, so she gave me a look, and I held her hand, and we flew right in!
We found the ship no trouble. Inside, it wasn't actually dark. It was pretty bright, actually. The ship was a luxury cruiser, but it had just been left to drift, so it was in pretty bad shape. We got to the main hold, where the bulk of the treasure was, and this big massive droid was there. He played us a message from King Arak Drayen, Risha's Greatgranddaddy, and then promptly tried to kill us and protect the treasure.
Well, your mama and I knew that we didn't have any time to waste, so we trashed the droid and all of the turrets it controlled, and then we began to load everything up on the Skylark. The first thing we brought was this fancy, red metal chest, all carved metal and set with jewels and pretty things like that. We knew it held the crown Auntie Risha had been searching for.
We came out of the hold with the first load, ready to fill up the Skylark, but we were face to face with trouble! Somebody was waiting for us on the gangplank-Skavak!
THAT NO GOOD SON OF A HUTT?
That no good son of a hutt was waiting for us! And tomorrow I'll tell you what happened next.
Aww dad!
For now, it's time for bed. Goodnight kids, I love you.
