"You're Goku's dad?" Krillin asked incredulously.
"Is that what you all call him?" The rotund saiyan snickered. "If not for how strong he is, I'd be disappointed."
"There's no way Goku's related to anyone as evil as you!" Chi Chi's aura flared as she began to project her ki forward. The other fighters began to tense up as the Saiyan's demeanors changed.
"Hmm… the women here aren't as trash as I thought." The Saiyan woman remarked. "That's a power of 43,000, she'd have been a top-class warrior amongst Planet Vegeta, well, before…" She was interrupted by another Saiyan.
"I pegged her energy at 10000?! What's going on?" The tallest saiyan, a tan man with a narrow, clean-shaven face, flat top, and mullet, narrowed his eyes.
"Clearly, the people of this planet have unique tricks." Another remarked, "But we're familiar with unique tricks, aren't we, Toma?"
The Saiyan mentioned as Toma seemed satisfied with the explanation given to him. Jazz recalled him being one of the members of Bardock's crew who was killed by Dodoria via the anime/Bardock Special.
Tensions began to rise once again as the Saiyans began to take on a combative stance.
"Well, there's no shame in stretching our legs and really testing out how good these followers of Kakarot really are, is there?"
"Wait." PaoPao was the one to speak now. Jazz noticed she was eyeing the devices the Saiyans had over their left eyes while also widely tracing her fingers in odd patterns behind her back. "You've alluded to yours, and Go…Kakarot's purpose. But we need clarification. You seem to have the ability to measure battle power, as you keep spouting out numbers, you say Kakarot was only at a 2, yet you planned to send him to Earth, to conquer it? That makes no sense, there were several people leagues stronger than him during his infancy, and he would have died."
"The Ozaru's strength was thought to be sufficient enough to handle the powers, which from our scans held none which superseded 400." Bardock answered, "It was, in my opinion, the safest planet to send my son."
"So, Goku's purpose wasn't to destroy the planet?" Yamcha interrupted.
"I didn't necessarily plan for either outcome, I was going to pick him up earlier if not for some circumstances." Bardock's face contorted into a frown. "But even if this planet wasn't intended for slaughter, Goku should have destroyed the life on it, all Saiyan children of a certain low power level are sent to a planet, and subliminal messaging through their life-pod instructs them on basic survival tips. All Saiyan children, no matter how weak, are born battle-ready."
"Not all of them." Raditz muttered, "he must have inherited our mother's soft-" he caught himself turning to see Bardock glare at him. "Say another word and I'll give you a reason to need the healing pod."
"Back on topic, you Saiyans go to planets to exterminate the life on them, why?" PaoPao asked, frustrated by how calmly and nonchalantly the Saiyans talked about genocide.
"Weaklings don't have the right to protest the actions of their betters." The female Saiyan smiled widely.
"We're mercenaries." Toma began simply, "We go to a planet, wipe out or drive away its people, and sell the planet to the highest bidder."
"Don't spoil all the fun, Toma!" The female sayain growled at the tall saiyan. "Weak trash shouldn't be speaking anyways."
PaoPao ignored the woman and maintained eye contact with Toma. "Mercenaries? If that is the case, perhaps you can be persuaded? Is money what you are after? Or resources, we have the means to provide what you want. Because I can assure you, this planet will not go down easily."
"That's all the more better, for us." The Rotund Saiyan with scars over his forehead said, grinning. "The better the fight you put in, the better things will be, for us of course."
Jazz's brain started working again on overtime as he got over the shock of seeing all these alive Saiyans.
"Freeza didn't blow up your planet." Jazz began.
The Saiyans looked at each other, then at Jazz, "How the hell do you, a human, know about our employer?" Bardock's face became deadly serious.
"I don't have to answer a thing you ask, after all, 'weaklings don't have a right to protest the actions of their betters.' Isn't that you?" Jazz retorted.
The woman, who he guessed was Selypa, scoffed at his mimicry. "Bastard."
Bardock's expression remained stern, his power beginning to rev. He turned to the others and clicked a button on his scouter. The other Saiyans looked at each other and did the same thing.
"How do you know about that bastard, Freeza?" Bardock asked again.
"Bastard?" PaoPao murmured quietly to herself. As Bardock continued to speak more and more, Jazz could notice the shift in Goku's energy, he remembered how, in Super, Goku had heard Bardock's voice in the older Saiyan's scouter, and how it seemed to have awoken something in the man.
Jazz decided he would try to humor the Saiyans, as the longer they were speaking, the further all the noncombatants could get to safety. "The scouters, did you just shut them off?"
"If you're aware of our scouter functions, then this makes this easier." Bardock began. "We've shut down their recording ability, for now. So, how do you know about Freeza?"
"I know about Freeza, through the Namekians." Jazz lied.
"Ah… they were once a space fairing people, so they must have had knowledge of that bastard." Bardock smiled, leaning back on his arms as if lying down in the air. "Then you understand that there's nothing you can do to convince us to back off, save the complete surrender of your people. You can count yourselves lucky that complete eradication is not our mission, this time around."
"You're going to have to elaborate because there's something I'm not getting." Jazz began to signal to his friends from the back. "You say you work for Freeza, so what's with the big old M's on your foreheads?"
"It shouldn't matter to you!" Raditz called out, "Peons like you would never be worthy of Babbidi's gifts!"
"Shut the fuck up!" Selypa growled in irritation, she glared at Raditz, who flinched in nervousness.
"So it was Babbidi, what the hell does he have to do with all this?"
Bardock, who had been looking at Jazz and his friends with appraising eyes suddenly shot Jazz in the chest, piercing through his heart and both lungs. "So you're the trespasser…" The other Saiyans, who had been waiting for his lead, picked targets and charged toward them. Tien, the quickest to react due to his high base power, activated the pump-up technique and rushed forward, locking forearms with the tallest of the Saiyans, Toma. "Totapo! Pumbukin! Go after Ka-"
"I'll handle my bastard brother! The scouter is probably lying anyway!" Raditz rushed towards Goku before Toma could stop him. Goku sluggishly raised his arm, only to take a right hook to the face and get launched flying. Raditz laughed, charging forward to do battle with his younger brother. Selypa giggled as she charged towards Launch, the weakest power, Chi-Chi activated her pump up, coalescing ki into her palm and forming an axe through the shape of her ki, increasing its power more and more until it crashed into Selypa, causing both of them to be thrown back.
"I'll handle her!" Chi-Chi announced, cracking her knuckles.
Launch shook her head, "You ain't takin' her on alone!" She threw up some capsules, smirking as they exploded into a cloud of dust, revealing a pair of custom tommy guns created through the combined efforts of Jazz's magic item creation, Bulma's design sensibilities, and PaoPao's resources.
"Ballistics?" Selypa, who had ducked under Chi-Chi's ki-projected axe laughed as she kicked the black-haired girl away. "Laser weaponry barely does shit, and you're here trying to use ballistics? What are you, cave mongers?!" She laughed, exploding in a pinkish-purple aura as she charged forward.
Launch simply grinned as she concentrated her ki on her weaponry. "Sweet Dreams!" Selypa frowned as the supposed ballistics launched out with ferocity, speed, and number beyond anything she had before witnessed. Multiple missiles, imbued with whitish blue ki flew her way, with the female Saiyan making evasive maneuvers to avoid. Unfortunately for her, the need to take evasive measures slowed her down enough for Chi-Chi and her giant ki axe to rush down and slash her in the back. Through the explosion of dust from the clash, Selypa kept her bearings, only to scream in pain as several of the bullets she had dodged, guided by Launch's expert ki usage, turned around and pierced her body in various spots.
"Dammit! These morons!" Toma's scouter began to beep as he glanced at the various humans. "They hid their power levels! Leek, go check on Celpa, and Pumbukin, take on the scarred earthling. I'll continue to handle this one with the three eyes! Totapa! Go after the bald one! His power is the highest!" He turned to look at Tien, who was struggling to keep up with his power of 60,000. "You're all very tough, I'm legitimately surprised by your power, and I'm more than certain Kakarot is likely just like you all, hiding his power. But all that means is it should be all the more reason for your surrender."
"Why the hell should we listen to you?!" Tien shouted.
As if to answer Toma's question, loud enough that they could hear, PaoPao's backup communicator began to blare.
~"LADY DANGO! LADY DANGO! IN EVERY MAJOR CITY!"~
~"St-STRANGE CREATURES! BZZTTT! GREEN! SHORT! SEEMINGLY EXPOSED CRANIUMS WITH EXCESS WRINKLAGE! RED EYES! POWERS RANGING AT 50-75% GREATER THAN THAT OF ELITE OPERATIVES! THEY ARE WREAKING HAVOC PLANET WIDE! STICKING THESE ODD, LAMP-LIKE SIPHONS INTO PEOPLE!"~
"You have an option." Toma began, "We came to the planet to siphon life energy for our employer, if you surrender and let your energy get taken, we'll be able to spare a few more people, otherwise, if you continue to fight, our saibamen will siphon off your entire populace."
Before any of the fighters could answer, they heard a voice in all their heads as Kami spoke.
"Do not listen, for they likely plan to continue to harm the people of Earth unabated, even if you were to surrender. You must not falter, and I will step forward. Even if I risk my divine status."
…
As the Saiyans had begun to attack the Z team…
On the lookout, Kami watched the destruction that was beginning to be wrought on humans. The Saiyans, or whoever they were working for, were crafty. The Saibamen seeds were small, so small they did minimal damage to the Earth, he should have noticed that these small fragments seemed to not dissipate in the atmosphere, but he had been so stressed on watching the powerful energies slowly enter the solar system, that he hadn't taken the time to pay attention to the insidious plot. He watched on, a sense of helplessness overtaking him as humans began to scream out in fear, their lives snuffed out by the Saibaman's attacks, and by the terrifying weapons they carried which absorbed the very lifeforce and energy of the humans they attacked.
"Kami!" Popo watched his master and friend in concern. "We must do something!"
Kami turned to Mr. Popo, wracking his brain to say something, anything, only to look down again as something caught his eye.
A village close to the desert was in a panic as three of these monsters found their way inside. One of the monsters turned towards a house it heard whimpering from and began to walk over, evil in its eyes.
"Get them!" A pair of werewolves, one more bestial than another, grabbed the arms of a saibamen. The green monster, despite being less than half the size of both these creatures, boasted a power that was almost triple their own individually, but despite that, they held on, biting into the creature's arms till blood, both theirs and the monster's, dripped unto the ground. A whip of water wrapped around the saibaman's head, and the creature began to scream as the moisture within its body was ripped out. A kitsune, a monster person ostracized by the humans of Earth, sang, her voice bewitching the other two monsters, who began to sit down.
"You owe me for this!" A small bat flew near one of the saibamen, clamping down its teeth and sucking with all her might, changing into a vampire. As she engorged herself, the saibaman began to scream, until it lost too much blood to fight. The last saibaman was shaken from the illusion and charged forward, only to begin to get entrapped in countless bandages as a mummy appeared in front of it.
"Thanks!" The vampire shouted, scared.
"Don't thank me! Thank Fortune Teller Baba! And the money you amassed." The mummy growled. The saibaman threw apart its bondage with ease, but not before its body broke apart horrifically as Devilman's Devilmite beam made short work of the evil creature…
In the cold, wintery penguin village, Android 8 leaped into the air, holding on to 2 saibamen who gleamed in preparation to self-destruct, he swung as hard as he could, and threw them a quarter of a mile away, watching them explode. As he landed heavily, he turned to see his family and the village, many were hurt, but all were alive. The mayor, old enough to rely on a cane, hobbled over. "You did great young man! But the village is 6 miles away! They're reporting 5 more of those monsters!"
Android 8 nodded, puffing his chest. "I'll take care of it."
"But you're hurt!" A red-headed young woman, Suno, cried out.
"Don't worry," a voice called out, as a red-furred fox-woman stepped out of the crowd, "I have some training as a member of the Tsukimi, he won't be alone. Besides." She was dragging a human behind her, "he's got Gnocchi, the man's a fool, but he's got some level of technological skill, and that Bulma woman gave us a backup repair kit." She winked. Gnocchi, the grizzled-looking man was scared out of his wits but gave a smile to Suno and to the other young people he watched grow up in this village. "Don't you worry about your friend Eighter, we've got this!"
…
"Upa, another spear."
"Yes, father!" The young teen, Upa, held up a powerful-looking black spear to his father, Bora, the great warrior of Korrin forest. The man's muscles swelled in power as he launched the spear forward. It hit its mark, a saibaman over 300 feet away. The man's arm seemed to shrink as he coughed up blood. "That technique of Master Roshi's… it's too much for a man like me."
"Here, take this" Bora turned, smiling as he saw the taut face of Reuban, the former member of the Red Ribbon Army's yellow squadron, and the only human Korrin gave the blessing of to cultivate Senzu Beans. Bora took the bean, marveling at how his body seemed to recover almost immediately. He began gathering all of the energy he had, in a technique similar but different from Master Roshi's pump-up technique, something he, who had fought in a completely different way all his life, could muster. He and his people had been training like their life was on the line, and with the expertise of Reuben, none would fear dying as a result of their training. Equipped with these special weapons designed by Jasper, as "insurance", they had very little to fear.
"Don't let the monsters get too close! Continue to hurl spears their way! If they explode! Not even the Senzu beans will bring you back!" Bora's muscles began to swell as he prepared another lobby of strikes against the approaching saibaman…
…
"What the hell are these things!" Lapis and Lazuli led the group of fighters as they fought through the mass of green monsters. Other fighters in the tournament, at least, those strong enough to pull their weight fought on.
"I can't allow you to outshine me!" Tsun Tsukutsun, Yamcha's unscarred lookalike was currently in the form of a tiger-man after lightly being brushed by a female tournament watcher. He was cutting into, biting, and slashing at a few saibamen, leading the pack with his overwhelming strength. Lapis and Lazuli, amongst the strongest of the participants, backed up Tsun, alongside the tiger-man's older sister, who used her psychic abilities and powers of teleportation to assist both allies and enemies.
Two of the outed red ribbon army operatives, Agent Violet, and Agent Argent had remained to assist, despite Mrs. Morada and Agent Azule slipping away a long time ago. Leading the rear of the escaping peoples was Talia, who was assisted by Red Ribbon Army Agents, Master Roshi, and the many other participants of the tournament, many of whom owed their martial skills to Roshi himself or tangentially through Hercule's many manuals and video training.
"Dynamic combination! Pasta Special!" Caroni, Pirozhki, and Ms. Pizza held each other's hands, momentarily sharing each other's ki as they unleashed a corkscrew kick into the head of a saibaman, killing it.
Roshi rolled his eyes in irritation at their theatrics but did not take his attention off the two saibamen he kept off of him. Bulma for her part rifled through her bag.
"Where is it, where is it… ahah!" She shouted triumphantly. She held a capsule, then threw it down, grinning ear to ear as four identical bansho fans landed on the ground. Handing one to Miguel, Puar, and Oolong, the four nodded, making their way through the crowd and toward the kids. "Hey! Lapis! Lazuli!" She watched as they continued to fight through multiple saibamen. "DUCK!"
The kids did not hesitate to get low, watching in surprise and wonder as hurricane-like winds threatened to carry them forward, only to watch as multiple saibamen were caught in the wind and thrown hundreds of feet into the air. Bulma, her eyes gleaming as she played with Jazz's magical weapon, began to spin her fan in a circle, entrapping the saibamen in a vortex. The others used the winds to buffet saibamen from a distance, throwing them off balance and making it easier for the fighters with any real skill to target and destroy them.
Lapis, realizing the gift he had been given with all of the saibamen who had been sucked into the air cupped his hands together. "MASENKO!"
…
Kami looked down and gritted his teeth. All of these people were fighting, and they weren't alone. Humans, whether criminal or hero, who had some level of training fought when they could. Even when most humans ran and hid, or some betrayed their friends to get to safety, other humans fought, whether, for pride, fear, love, or altruism, he watched men and women with real power lay down their lives against the saibamen. Hearing Toma's words towards Tien sealed the situation for him as he called down to the Z fighters.
"Do not listen, for they likely plan to continue to harm the people of Earth unabated, even if you were to surrender. You must not falter, and I will step forward. Even if I risk my divine status."
"Mr. Popo." Kami began, "Prepare the magic carpet, go to Jazz, he needs to be healed, the attack was too sudden for him, and while his phoenix flames and the wish will keep him from dying, he won't be strong enough to fight effectively."
"What are you going to do?" Popo asked.
"I'm Earth's Guardian, so I'm going to guard it…"

To say things are heating up is an understatement. If I am really, really lucky, I should have a chapter finished either tonight or tomorrow.
