Reviews: it's always good to be back.
This has been the longest day in Killua's life. And that is saying something considering all the absurd stuff he's been through. But the whole thing with this dark world, has him in the worst mood he's ever been.
He received the great news that he could finally go home, that he could finally see his sisters again, only for the inhabitants of this wretched place to drop him into a pit and separate him from his friends —AGAIN.
And this place, and everything related to it, just kept topping themselves all over again in his list of things he hates the most in his life.
"Master Killua…" The thing in front of him called out, its arms extended open as if expecting a hug of some kind. "It is good to see you again…"
Killua didn't even blink. He just glared at the thing in front of him. And the sheer insulting figure in front of him. "Do you take me for an idiot?" He asked in a low tone. "I know you are not Gotoh."
"Master… I know with the news that Hisoka gave you it is hard to process… But I was sent to this awful place instead," The thing let out a humorless huff as it looked down. "Must be my penance… This must be hell and I am paying for what I did working under you and your family."
Killua's fists clenched.
"So in a way… This is your fau —ACK!"
The thing didn't get far as a clawed hand pierced its head. Killua stayed at eye level with the apparition and glared holes into its head.
"I doubt even in hell Gotoh would regret serving under my family. Even amongst our butlers he always stood out for his loyalty. So…" Killua's glare was one of the most hate-filled ones he's ever dedicated to another living being. "Don't you dare put such a pathetic expression on his face. You piece of trash!"
He squished the head of the Deadmon and the rest of the body vanished in black dust. Killua took a shuddering breath to calm himself. 'Gotoh… Did you really die…?'
He remembered how Hisoka taunted him with that information. He was in denial back then. It was Gotoh after all, second best butler in the Zoldyck family only surpassed by Tsubone.
But seeing this apparition made him thought about it again. About the possibility, as minimum as it was, that the man that had looked after him during the early years of his childhood was truly dead…
"Damn you, Hisoka…" He growled under his breath. Then he took a shuddering intake of air and closed his eyes.
He couldn't let anger and vengeance cloud his mind right now. He has seen where such thoughts lead to before. And now was neither the place nor the time to have such thoughts.
He took the locket Kari gave him for Christmas, as he knew it was emitting a faint glow as a result of the Crest inside of it. He looked at the blue item and turned around in various directions to gauge the reaction of the soft glow coming from it, until he noticed it was brighter in the north.
'North… Or at least I think its north,' It was hard to tell directions when the sky didn't make sense in the surface, and when you were underground and everything looked the same.
Stuffing the locket into his shirt, Killua was ready to take off, but first he knew he had to take care of something else. He was not alone in the hallway, and he knew it, he took a deep breath to keep his ever-growing irritation at bay and spoke.
"Come on out, already, it's getting ridiculous how you are trying to hide your presence…" He sneered at what seemed to be only the darkness surrounding him.
Three sets of footsteps were the answer he received. When he turned around, he was met with something that just caused him to dig his nails even further into his palms and his blood boil even further.
Copies with red eyes of his best friend and his sister stood next to a figure dressed with Zoldyck's butler's uniform, and with the slim shape of their body he could tell it was trying to imitate a woman. The only female butler whose face he did not remembered could only be Kanaka, the first one to tell him he was not meant to be an assassin like his family wanted.
Just how deep did these bastards went!? And how did they even got the images of these people to affect him!?
'Must have been while I was unconscious,' He reasoned, while glaring at the copies. "So? You're just going to stand there or are you actually going to try and say something like your friend?"
The three copies stared at him with their blood-red eyes. Then their figures started to melt away and merged into a single shape that started to take form.
If Killua thought his indignation couldn't get any higher, then he was sorely mistaking. Because the shape these Deadmon took when fused just made him huff in disbelief for what he was seeing.
Puppetmon now stood in front of him, his signature mallet on hand. Red-blood eyes showing that it was nothing but a cheap imitation of the Dark Master that actually turned over a new sheet and gave his life for him.
The copy leaped into the air and fired volleys of black fire from the mallet. The projectiles going towards a static Killua, who stayed rooted in place with his head bowed and his hair covering his eyes. When they impacted, they caused a small explosion around the boy.
Landing, the imitation kept its eyes on the cloud of dust resulting in the explosion. Knowing for a fact that a being like the Anomaly was not going down easy. And just waiting for the moment when he would come out of the cloud of dust.
"Where are you looking at, garbage?"
Before it could even register the words, the fake puppet received a backhanded fist to its cheek that sent it crashing against the walls of the cave. Debris fell on it as it struggled to stand up. Its red eyes looking up to see the Anomaly glaring at it, his electric blue eyes burrowing a hole into the Deadmon's skull.
"I am not going to let you distract me with a senseless fight. I have more important things to do." Killua said as he took a single step forward. "Die."
The next thing the Deadmon new, its head was grasped into the boy's hand while the rest of its body started to turn into black dust. Soon the Deadmon lose consciousness as its whole being was erased from existence, not achieving the goal its creator had set out to do and being dispatched in mere minutes by the Anomaly.
Killua stared at his hand with disgust before wiping it with the walls of the tunnel. "Enough is enough. Any of those things that appears dies," he decided. He took out his locket and stared at his Crest. "But first I must find the others, and this is my best clue to it."
It had never reacted like this, he noticed it first when he woke up. The only times he has seen a Tag glow like this was when they were being detected by a Digivice and therefore he reached a conclusion: His Digivice was in this world and that lead to another conclusion: The Mastermind, Yukio Oikawa, was here.
Taking the chain out of his neck and holding it in front of him, Killua set a determined course to where the glow shone the brightest. He took off, running at the top speed he could without using Godspeed.
As he ran and twisted, Killua noticed how the walls stopped being made out of jagged rocks and become smoother the deeper he went and then they became straight up bricks showing a more consistent structure than before which was saying a lot considering this world's track record.
'If the Crest is truly guiding me to the north, then that means I am already deep within the fortress Dagomon mentioned…' Killua recalled how the 'God' of this world told him to meet him there when it faced against him and Blademon using a Deadmon with the form of a SkullGreymon. 'That means I'll be right under its nose.'
Yet he will also be close to not only getting the Digivice that was meant for him, but to also meet and defeat the one who started the disasters that he and his friends have been trying to fix for the good part of a year.
His musings were cut-up short when he skids to a stop and observed a giant door that reminded him to the entrance to Kukuro Mountain back home. And for a while, all he did was stare at the door, he took a deep breath knowing that in the other side was the person that had started the madness in the Digital World. One whom still had to answer a question that has been nagging at the back of his head.
He pressed both hands on the door and started pushing. The door groaned as its weight was being moved, and its solid materials scraped against the floor.
The chamber was spacious, but filled with debris of what Killua could only assume were Control Towers and empty buckets where remains of black liquid in them.
And there, in the center, he saw him.
Killua only got a brief encounter with the man, when they were chasing the truck where he kidnapped Kari and those children, but right away he could see the differences.
The purple coat he had that day was discarded on the floor instead he just used a short sleeved, black shirt. His hair was a mess, draping over his face and sticking to it due to the sweat. Killua was surprised to see the muscles on the man, but that was nothing compared to the major difference he saw:
The veins. Black veins running down from his mouth and down his neck and then down to the hands. They made a contrast with his skin, if he was pale before then he was now down-right chalk-white now. And then there were his eyes… They were the same color as the Deadmon's, blood-red.
Yet despite those changes, the man's face still split into a delighted grin when he saw Killua and a laugh erupted from his throat. "Ahahahahaha! What a delightful surprise!" He declared with a grin. "It's a pleasure to finally meet you… Anomaly!"
Killua stood there, with a scowl on his face. Electricity ran through him and his blue eyes glowered at the man.
This is the man that robbed him and his partner from the chance of meeting.
This was the man who ruined Ken's life by turning him into the Emperor.
This was the one behind Arukenimon and Mummymon, therefore the creation and torturous existence of BlackWargreymon. And created BlackMetalGarurumon (whom Killua barely noticed was in the room with them, in some sort of tank) responsible of the destruction of the temples and further disrupting the balance between this world.
No thoughts ran through his mind. He acted purely on emotion at that moment. His feet moved and his nails sharpened as he charged forward with a thrust aimed at the head of the man.
However, Killua severely underestimated the man. Maybe, had they met even a couple hours early, this would have worked. Now, however, Oikawa raised his hand and was able to catch Killua's clawed hand a few inches away from his face.
"Woah there, that wasn't very nice," Oikawa chuckled as he reared his fist back.
Killua's eyes shrunk in surprise as he saw the condensed aura around Oikawa's fist. He wrenched his hand free and leaped back. The man didn't do anything to chase after him, he just chuckled and lowered his hand.
"It did work…" He chuckled to himself, looking down at his hand and clenching it. "My strength is now enough to see you coming. Hehehehe…"
He really felt blessed for finding this world…
He kept his head bowed in front of the gargantuan being in front of him, whom glared down at him with red eyes filled with suspicion and skepticism.
"Is it true of what you speak?" It asked them, glowering with power throbbing from its very being. "Of this… Light?"
"Light is…" He could feel revulsion coming from within where his master was in his mind, the words that he was about to say causing him to revolt. "… A wonderful energy, full of life."
He looked up and smiled at the entity. "And there is one person going by the name of Kari Kamiya, capable of harnessing this power. With your kind's particular abilities, I am sure you can use her for your purposes. All I ask in return is to run some tests on your subjects. I have already showed you what they can do when taking humans from my world, just let me tests some… tools on them."
He took out the laptop he had used to run his experiments, in trying to find ways to get to the Digital World using the Digivice he received after taking the small In-Training that would become one of his best servants, Blademon, and showed an image of the girl in question.
The simmering hatred his master harbored for the girl after five years was as passionate as ever. He'd gotten the picture after scouting them in case they would become his puppet for planting the Control Towers.
Good thing he met young Ichijouji four years ago, no need to deal with their meddlesome partners and friends. All because the young boy was around when he was testing his Digiport and was led here.
The entity stretched a hand towards the laptop. Oikawa diligently gave it to him—he could always get another. The entity took it in its massive hands and absorbed it, sinking in its skin.
For a moment nothing happened, but then Oikawa's skin started to flicker like a broke T.V. He smiled at the entity. "It seems you have absorbed my Digiport's functions."
"Silence!" It said and Oikawa bowed his head respectfully. "I can feel it… The power inside the girl… Its different from anything I've ever felt in this world! … It has to be mine. Yet your machine does not give me the power to pull her into my realm.
"Easily fixed, with the plans I have in mind the barrier between the worlds will soon be weakened, and then you can use the new power you've received to not only bring her here, but to send your servants after her if you wish…" Oikawa explained, keeping his head bowed to further please the dark sovereign.
"Run the experiments that you wish. It won't matter in the long run, for my subjects will have a better life once that girl becomes mine," Dagomon finally hissed out.
"Thank you kindly," He said, rummaging through his pack and pulling out a prototype of something he hoped the Spore transmits to the soon-to-be Emperor: A Dark Spiral.
This world was a blessing, and a stepping stone on his way to the Digital World…
His laugh was low and giddy as he reminiscences. Killua for his part didn't see anything amusing about it. He took a deep breath and while his emotions were already running high, he now had a better grasp on them. He had to use his brain. If he couldn't take him out, he could at least get answers.
"Who are you?" He growled out.
Oikawa blinked and tilted his head. "Hmmm? Do you not remember me? We met back when I… borrowed your friend Kari!" He said, with a fake tone of confusion and consternation. "But if what you're looking for is a proper introduction, well… I'm Yukio Oikawa, I'm thirty-five years old, currently unemplo—"
"CUT THE CRAP!" Killua roared as he swiped a hand to the left. His voice echoing across the chamber. "What I meant is: who are you? How did you achieve all of this? How did you gain access to this world? What is your connection to Arukenimon and Mummymon? And most importantly: How do can you be a Nen user!?"
After Killua gave his list of demands of what he wanted to know from the man, Oikawa just remained silent. The two glared at one another for a long time, as if waiting for the other to make the first movement.
Then Oikawa tapped a finger to his chin and hummed. "Do I have to answer those in order or…?"
Killua leaped forward and aimed a kick to the side of the man's head. Oikawa's eyes widened and he rose an arm to block the attack, barely resisting the impact as he was sent skidding back from the force of the blow.
Wincing, the man shook his numb arm to try and make it regain feeling. "Argh! Okay, okay! Not in a talking mood, or at least, not for talks not revolving around your questions." Sighing the man gave Killua a smile. "Now then, I'm sure what's eating you inside is how I became a Nen user, right?"
Killua didn't respond verbally, but if the way he tensed was any indication, then Oikawa would know he hit the nail right in the head.
Chuckling, Oikawa showed his Ten and craned his neck. "How about I show and don't tell? After all, aside from my Evil Spore… I have been barely able to use my other abilities!"
Killua prepared. This guy was either a Specialist or a Manipulator based on what he did to his friends, maybe some Conjuring involved because of the Evil Spore itself being a construct of Nen. Yet he was taken aback when he saw the shift in Oikawa's aura.
The man's aura spiked around his hands. Turning into a blood-red color, not dissimilar to the Deadmon's eyes. And when he lifted his eyes to look at Killua, the boy's head was filled with confusion.
'Where his eyes always blue…?' He wondered, before his attention shifted back to the man's actions.
And then, he announced the name of his technique, and Killua's body filled with dread.
"BLOODY WHIP!"
The aura around his hands enlarges and takes the form of red whips of energy. Killua's eyes widen and leaps back and the whips strike the floor causing large dents in it. Laughing, Oikawa swings his whips around, forcing Killua to weave and jump to dodge the strikes. All the while in the young Hunter's head a hundred thoughts ran through his head:
'Bloody Whip? That name, it can't be…' He jumped up to the ceiling and looked down at Oikawa as the man, with a demented grin, sent his whips after him again.
Killua jumped down from the ceiling as the whips struck. He looks at the Nen formations with a growing sense of dread. 'And these things, they are strong. There's no doubt they're made of Nen, but this must be a Transmuter's ability!'
Dodging another whip, Killua continued on his analysis. 'But this guy… The ability he used on Blademon and Ken that turned them into bad guys, that was a Manipulator's technique at best! If he uses Transmutation then he shouldn't be this good at it… Unless—!"
His thoughts were interrupted when one of the whips actually managed to wrap around his leg. With a tug, Killua was sent hurling towards one of the walls and his body crashing against it. Dust was lifted and Oikawa dispelled the whips, chuckling with an air of superiority as he saw the boy on the floor.
Killua sprang back to his feet very quickly however; it takes more than that to take him out of the fight permanently. As he dusted himself off, he glared at Oikawa. "Say… What is your relation… With Myotismon?"
At his question, Oikawa froze and tilted his head. "What do you mean? Who is Myotismon?"
Killua exhaled and placed a hand on his mouth. "That name of your technique, Bloody Whip, and the way it functions, reminds me of an evil Digimon that me and my friends faced five years ago. The one responsible for the Odaiba Mist incident and the appearance of Digimon in the district. And your eyes glowed a blue color when you used it, same as that guy's eye color."
Taking a deep breath, Killua continued. "Ever since Ken was freed, I theorized that whoever unlocked his Nen was a Manipulator, after all it's in the name, what better type of Nen user to turn a boy that is so kind-hearted into an evil tyrant? Or to turn a newborn Digimon into a killing machine?" He asked as his tone became colder. "But you just used a perfect Transmutation technique, something impossible if your Nen type was a Manipulator."
"But if you are somehow related to Myotismon, I can think of a way: that your Nen type becomes a Specialist under a certain condition and that gives you perfect control over some if not all the Nen categories. And that condition, would be to allow your body to be controlled by someone else…"
Having laid out his case, Killua glared at the man. "So? Am I wrong, Yukio Oikawa?"
Oikawa stood still, staring at Killua with an unreadable expression, until he started to chuckle. He brought a hand to his mouth to try and stifle his laughter, but it didn't last long until a full-blown cackle exploded from deep within him.
"Ahahahaha! Hahahahaha!" His laughter echoed across the chamber; it was wheezy, high-pitched.
Killua just sighed in annoyance. Why does he always deal with the crazy ones? However, he never lowered his guard, if he was in the right here then Yukio Oikawa was far more dangerous than he thought.
Eventually, the laughter subsided. Oikawa took a deep breath and stood up straight and immediately Killua noticed a change. Before Oikawa carried himself in a casual manner, giddy almost, like everything around him brought him fascination—Now he stood regally, completely straight and with his hands at the side.
When he lifted his face, blue eyes of a tone not unlike his own stared back at him and a smile blossomed on his lips. "Anomaly," A voice that was not Oikawa's came from his mouth, "long time no see."
His suspicions confirmed, Killua's entire body tensed as he growled at the apparition in front of him. "So, it was true… This whole time it was you who was behind this… MYOTISMON!"
The Digimon in human body chuckled and his smile widened. "You give me too much credit, Anomaly. Oikawa thought of how to exploit many of my plans to their full potential… It was HIS idea to use your partner for our plans after all. His approach of treating The Reaper with fake kindness avoided me another case like Gatomon. He never developed those obnoxious, and irritating eyes full of hate that she had!"
That tidbit of information just irked Killua even further, but he wanted more answers and he wanted them now!
"How!? How the fuck are you still alive!?" He demanded to know. "VictoryGreymon and ZeedGarurumon destroyed you! And we were in the Human World! There was no way you could have been rebirthed!"
"And who said I was reborn? I'd have to die in the first place for that to happen!" He chuckled, the same elegant yet arrogant and cruel chuckle Killua remembered from when he first met the Ultra Digimon. "I will admit I never thought I would have to resort to it, but I always kept a last resource in case of my… destruction!"
His face finally dropped that obnoxious smile and instead a sneer of pure hatred appeared on his face, no doubt remembering how he was bested by the Digidestined five years ago. He regained composure quickly, not wanting his vulnerability be seen by his enemy.
"All I needed was someone who was desperate enough to accept me, and to my ever-lasting gratefulness… Oikawa was right there," He chuckled and his smirk grew wide. "My encounter with Yukio and my survival are a sign! A sign that I am meant to rule the worlds of both Human and Digimon! Mwahahahahaha!" He threw his head back and laughed, clearly enjoying the fact that he could finally brag about his plans to one of the involved parties.
Killua took that as his chance to attack. He dashed towards the cackling man and landed a Nen coated fist into its abdomen. Oikawa's body doubled over and grunted in pain, while Killua gave him a side-eyed glance.
"You talk too much," he boy said, rearing back his other hand and sharpening his nails to stab him.
However, the man's hands gripped the arm that was close to his abdomen and then delivered a back-hand strike that turned Killua's head away. The boy's senses becoming blurry as the force of the attack shook him.
'Huh!?' He thought in confusion, his mind rattled from the sudden blow.
Lifting his head up, Myotismon smirked and reared another fist coated in Nen to land a blow to Killua's stomach that sent the boy skidding away from him. "Eager, are we? I am not done speaking, boy! Learn some manners!"
Killua gripped his abdomen and looked up, eyes wide and confused. 'That body… Is stronger than I thought! But how…?' And that correlated to another question: how did this man learned to use Nen. 'Myotismon… He knew about my abilities, but with how advanced Ken was Oikawa must of have learned more beyond the basics.'
Myotismon clenched his fist and passed a hand through the hair of the body he was using. "Aaaahh… It feels so good to flex muscles, even if they are not mine." He gave Killua a sharp smile. "And it's all thanks to you that me and Oikawa possess this power!"
Killua stood up straight, his Ken flaring up. "What are you talking about?"
Myotismon smirked and tapped the side of then possessed body's head. "Where do you think I got the means to teach Oikawa how to use Nen?" He asked. "It was thanks to you, my dear boy. After all, … I know everything about you and your life!"
'What is this creep on about!?' Killua thought with a scowl. 'Who does he thinks knowing about my… No!' The realization struck Killua hard. "Tapirmon… The Mist of Memories."
"Precisely! Back when you were my prisoner, one of my most loyal underlings allowed me to see what was on your mind! Your memories…" His smile widened. "Including everything about your training on Nen. From the Four Principles, to the six types of Nen, and the more advanced techniques!"
He pressed a hand to Oikawa's chest. "Yukio dedicated the last five years of his life in honing his Nen abilities, and thanks to the power I had left his development was superb, allowing us to create the Evil Seed, crucial to our plans." He clenched his fist. "I knew his level was not yet in par with yours, but that has been fixed recently. Along with finishing the last Ability in store for us to use the full potential of his body!"
The fists of the man clenched and then they were cupped together. His aura focused on the center of them and was released with the form of a specter. "Terror Scream!"
Killua's eyes widened and he leaped to the side to dodge it, Myotismon smirked and the red aura returned to his hands. "Bloody Whip!"
The two whips wrapped the boy's ankles and then he was brought towards where Myotismon was. The Digimon coated Nen around his hand and aimed it at the boy, Killua used Ken and crossed his arms over his arms to block it. The force of the punch stamping him against the floor.
Killua grunted as he felt his arms vibrate in pain. The density of Oikawa's aura shaking even with his own up and holding strong. He was not going to stand down for long, he latched to Oikawa's outstretched arm and pulled himself up while also landing a blow to the man's face.
Myotismon staggered back, holding the face of the man he was possessing. Killua jumped back to his feet and glared at him, and when Myotismon lowered his hands from the face Killua was frustrated to see he was still grinning.
"Not bad, your level hasn't gone down since we first met, Anomaly," Myotismon said.
Killua spat on the floor got into a fighting stance. "Your Abilities… That Terror Scream was an Emitter technique and Bloody Whip a Transmutation technique. To top it all off, your Evil Seed is a Conjuration mixed with Manipulation," he summarized. "Four out of the six Nen Types, or rather… Five out of six. I wasn't wrong before, right? You possess an ability that allows you to master more than one Nen Type!"
"You are obnoxiously smart," Myotismon remarked. "But yes. Thanks to the current condition in Oikawa's body, along with me taking the reign, his aura has changed! He has the potential of a Specialist thanks to my intervention, to the power I release into his body! And with that ability we hold control over all the Nen Types!" He boasted proudly.
Killua clenched his fists and his eyes narrowed. "So, I was right. It must like Kurapika's Emperor Time. But if that's the case… The condition must be incredibly high.' The more he learned about Nen, the more he understood that an ability like his blond friend back in his world must come with a high price.
Especially considering the price Gon paid for the power to defeat Neferpitou.
'He mentions it has to do with the current condition of Oikawa's body, does that have to do with the strange veins across it?' Killua wondered, whatever those things do they must not be healthy.
Myotismon sighed as he stared at his hand. "I wish I could have developed an ability like my Grizzly Wings, but we sadly didn't have the time for that. The amount of Nen needed to create a number of vermin's that could replicate my attack would simply be too much." He clenched his fist and smiled. "But I can't say I'm dissatisfied with what I have achieved."
'He's right. Considering he must have taught Oikawa over the course of Five Years, developing each ability, it must take real talent, or a cheat code like having an already powerful Digimon possessing your body,' Killua thought as he craned his neck, 'however…'
It was subtle, barely noticeable, but he could see Oikawa's hand trembling.
'He can't keep up like this. Myotismon is a bastard that would discard those who are not useful to him, and right now Oikawa or rather his body are what's keeping him alive. He can't afford to tax his body with whatever condition he is fulfilling to use all the Nen types," Killua straightened himself and rolled his arm back. Clenching his fists. 'A good old, mano-a-mano should do the trick!'
Killua charged forward aiming a kick at the man's head. Myotismon raised an arm and blocked it. Killua landed on the floor and focused Nen on his hand and aimed a punch to his stomach that was received, yet his rival barely flinched for he too had focused Nen in the area of impact to counter the blow.
"Your memories have given me a good reading on how you fight, Anomaly!" Myotismon boasted, as he grabbed Killua's arm "I shall forever be thankful that thanks to you, my plans will be fulfilled!"
'Blah, blah, blah! Idiot!' Killua scowled. But his babbling actually gave him information he wanted to know about. "It was you, wasn't it? You were the one who created the Digiport!"
Myotismon chuckled. "Why indeed! Who else!?" He asked, rhetorically. "Using the years of research for my invasion plans from five years ago it was a child's play!" He responded while raising a hand to attack Killua.
The boy blocked the punch and struggled to get his other arm from his grip. Meanwhile, like the egomaniac that he was, Myotismon continued to spew the fruits of his plan on the boy. "And during those researches and finding ways to get me and Oikawa to the Digital World, I found this world and its ruler… And I might have let it slip that I had an answer for their plight."
'What!?' Killua's grip on his hand slipped, giving Myotismon the chance to counter-attack.
Killua found a jab landing on his face followed by a kick that he ducked in time to avoid. He leaped back and glared at the possessed man. "You… You told Dagomon about Kari?"
Myotismon's smile widened, Oikawa's face about to split from the way it was stretching. "Why yes, I did. It was a win-win situation, honestly. He gets to absorb a power that goes beyond darkness…" His face dropped into a dark scowl. "And I get the peace of mind that the wretched Child of Light that played a part on my defeat is gone from existence!"
Killua's teeth grinded against one another. He shook his head and took a deep breath, not letting his words get to him. He had to control his fucking emotions! And not get his head messed up over the fact that THIS BASTARD! Is the reason Kari has gone through all this!
'Focus! Focus!' He told himself, trying to calm down the simmering hatred in him. 'That's just another reason for you to kill him, another stripe to the fucking tiger!'
He launched himself into the attack. The boy reared his fist back, coating a solid eighty-percent of his aura around his hand and threw it forward, but just like before Myotismon responded in kind. The percentage of the aura used on their attacks matching and liberating a small shockwave that sent the two skidding backwards.
Digging his heels on the floor to stop the momentum, Killua gritted his teeth as he felt his fist throb in pain after the clash. 'This strength of his doesn't feel natural. What has he done to Oikawa's body so he can match up to me!? The boost in the Nen I get, but the body is matching me blow for blow!'
He rose his head and glared at his opponent, his eyes widening at the state he saw him in, He was panting, holding his chest, and black liquid fell from his mouth.
'These crazy bastards… Did they drink from the water of this place!?' Killua might not know what effects that can have on a person, but he could draw conclusions considering nothing in this world was positive. 'Then he is on borrowed time—can't afford to waster a lot of time.'
Killua's eyes shifted towards the container of BlackMetalGarurumon. 'There's also that. I'm such an idiot…' He cursed himself. 'That thing is possibly still alive and recovering after what Azulongmon did the last time. If it recovers and comes for me then it'll be a two on one… I'll be toast.'
That was a problem that needed to be fixed right now. And so, he turned around and dashed towards the capsule where the wolf was in. Running in a complete straight line.
Myotismon gasped at his action and then he growled. Aura coiled around his arms and he lashed them forward with a yell: "Bloody Whip!"
Killua looked back at the two red whips and smirked and easily side-stepped before they could uncoil completely. The red constructs of Nen continued to move towards a new target: the tank.
"NO!"
That was all Myotismon could exclaim as the attack met its not-intended mark. The red beams striking the tank. The surface broke and the liquid spilled out, overflowing the tiles of the chamber. And BlackMetalGarurumon slid down from there, still unconscious and unmoving.
Killua moved to attack the downed wolf, his nails sharpening and aiming for a stab at its chest. But a lash from the red Nen construct forced him away from the wolf.
He looked over to the angered Myotismon, satisfied that his distraction had worked, yet frustrated that he could not focus on finishing the artificial Digimon yet. Myotismon was not going to let him, so he knew what he had to do. He dashed towards him, a plan forming on his mind. 'All of this guy's attacks have been ranged, aside from basic Nen abilities, Bloody Whip and Terror Scream. I was counting on him using them when he saw me going after his precious dog. And also, the reason why it's better to focus on fighting him on hand-to-hand combat and give him no quarter in using them!'
Killua could not use Godspeed right now. His reserves were too drained from all the time he's been in this world, not counting the fight with Daemon he had before getting dragged here, however that didn't mean he could not deliver some good blows to the enraged Digimon.
Speaking of whom; growling in anger, Myotismon glared at the boy dashing towards him and rose his whips to they could strike him from above. Killua narrowed his eyes and side-stepped them when the two came down on him, making them crash on to the floor.
Killua smirked and when his feet touched the floor again, he started moving in a certain way. Echo Rhythm appeared and various Killuas appeared on the chamber, all of them charging towards Myotismon.
The Digimon in human skin saw all the copies, he spun on his heels and the whips lashed out in all directions, like some sort of tornado. All the Killuas were struck and when they did they vanished from sight. Myotismon stopped and scanned the room: there was no sight of the boy.
"Where—" Before he could finish wondering, he received an elbow to the top of his head. His eyes bulged out of his sockets at the sudden blow.
Killua smirked. When he summoned his copies and Myotismon attacked, he jumped and clung to the ceiling waiting for the moment to attack. 'You might have gained Nen thanks to me, but some abilities are simply beyond that!'
Killua landed on the floor and gave a mule kick to the man's stomach, Oikawa's body being sent to the ceiling and slamming against it before bouncing down on the floor. Blood mixed with that black liquid coming out from his mouth.
The boy dashed, his nails sharpening as he aimed to stab them at the head of the downed man. However, Oikawa's body moved out of the way just as he was about to reach him. Killua turned as the man straightened himself and his aura flared up and cupped his hands together.
'Another Terror Scream!' Killua thought, bracing himself by covering his body with his arms.
But to his surprise, Myotismon's aura flared down and instead he dashed forward. The man twisted and delivered a kick to the boy's side. Killua's eyes bulged as he felt the air leaving his lungs.
'A faint!' Killua realized, as he struggled to stand up straight.
Myotismon grabbed his hair and then delivered a knee strike to his face. Killua could feel something breaking and blood oozing out from his nose as his eyes watered by instinct. When Myotismon tried again, Killua blocked the strike with the palm of his hand and with the other nailed a blow to the man's gut.
Myotismon grunted and let go of the boy, jumping back to get some space. Killua whipped the blood from his nose and snap it back into place without so much as a wince, as he glared at his opponent.
The two took a moment to catch their breaths, neither ready to give an inch. Both had the same goals in mind when glaring at the other: eliminate the threat in front of them and get revenge for the damage they had done to the other.
Killua rose his hands and his Nen flared. He might not have his full reserves of electricity, but he has more experience as a Nen user fighting. Myotismon had his memories? Well neither he nor Oikawa have engraved in them what is like to fight for long periods of time using them, even if he somehow copies the training Bisky put him through Killua has developed over the months since his last adventure.
Myotismon's Nen also flared. He felt vindictive, finally he could stand on equal grounds against the Anomaly, even in a body like Oikawa's! He knows he can elongate this more than he should he still had plans to fulfill and was not as confident in this body to defeat the young boy.
But if he learned something from the boy's memories and from Hisoka Morrow was that a Nen user must not reveal all its tricks yet.
So, the scenario was the following: Killua who's had no rest and is not able to access his full power as of now, and a Myotismon possessing the body of Oikawa who has gone through a metamorphosis recently as is still adapting to the changes.
And yet they felt in the best conditions to fight!
A beeping sound and a familiar voice caught were the first thing she heard.
"A message from T.K! It seems he is also heading towards where the white dot is!"
"That's good to hear, so we weren't wrong in going in that direction."
Her eyes fluttered open and she sighed as she understood her surroundings and her situation. The only thing Maki could do was shift in the arms of the Digimon carrying her as, what she assumed, a prisoner.
"You're awake!" Kari exclaimed when she saw the woman opening her eyes, giving her a small smile while closing her terminal. "Thank goodness."
Maki just gave her a blank stare before sighing. "Where are you taking me?"
Gatomon gave the woman a stinky look, before huffing. "We are going to find your friend, Oikawa."
Maki scoffed and turned around. "Not my friend, just an ally."
"… Why?" Kari felt the need to ask, looking at the woman with a perplexed look. "You were a Digidestined once… why ally with someone that wants to hurt the Digital World?"
"The guy is a nut-case, his plan could make what happened five years ago in the sky like a walk in the park or like simple stargazing!" UlforceVeedramon added, looking at the woman.
Maki stared at the girl and at the two Digimon, for all intents and purpose she didn't' have to tell them anything. But she sighed, what did she had to lose? She already lost everything else.
"It was my only ticket back to the Digital World… I wanted… my partner back…" She mumbled, running a hand through her face. "When Hisoka came back, I thought maybe it was possible… He had left to his own world and returned, why couldn't I go back to the Digital World? And once there… find a way back to Tapirmon…"
She let out a self-deprecating laugh. "I'm such an idiot… All I've gotten myself into are more troubles. Hisoka abandoned me in this world, Oikawa doesn't give a damn about me, and neither does the ruler of this place. Ever since I lost Tapirmon… and everyone just got back with their partners except me I've felt this… hole in me that was never filled. No matter how much the others tried to approach me they just… wouldn't have understood… and neither will you."
Neither Kari and Gatomon nor UlforceVeedramon could say anything. The parts forming the Mega Digimon had never gone through a separation, much less an event such as the death of one another. As for Kari and Gatomon, the only thing they could thing of similar to Maki was the five years separation, but that came to an end they reunited. Something Maki will never have with her partner.
"That hole… feels like you have to do something to fix it or else you will not be able to advance."
They turned to see the back of UlforceVeedramon, where Blademon was sitting, arms crossed and back turned to them to keep an eye in the rear in case more Deadmon appear to chase after them. "You feel like if you can fill that hole, you can move on with your life, but until you do you it's the only thing occupying your mind. Trust me, lady, I know the feeling."
Maki didn't like the comment and glared a the Digimon. "Yeah? So what do you propose to do, huh!?"
"…" Blademon hung his head and laughed and put a hand to his face. "Hahahaha… Ahhh, I feel if I say it I'll be the biggest hypocrite in all of the worlds, but… let it go. That's what you gotta do. I didn't do it and that almost costed me something really important for me… It almost robbed me completely of a chance to make things right. You almost lost your life today because of all the choices you did based on those feelings, I don't know what could have been worse for ya." He shrugged. "Who knows, if you move away from that hole… you might find what you need to fill it."
Being reminded of her near brush with death when those Deadmon got her extinguished whatever fire Maki had in her to fight. She slumped against the hold of the Mega Digimon and placed a hand on her abdomen.
"So I really was not imagining things. I felt it when I healed you, you are…" Kari started, looking at the woman with an expression of growing concern.
"I know!" She huffed and then sighed, running her hands through her hair. "… To fill that hole like you said… I don't want a replacement… I wouldn't want to put that kind of pressure on them…"
In the end, Blademon just gave a sigh. "Hey, I just gave you my perspective of things to stop you from sulking. If you don't want it, don't take it."
"Harsh."
"I know," Blademon replied to the Mega, not sounding like he planned to take back what he said.
Kari could only give a sigh as he heard the words of their former enemy. 'He is Killua's partner alright, blunt as they come.'
Beeping caught her attention and she looked at her Digivice, the colored dots were all growing closer to her own pink dot while the white one shifted in place. Her friends were growing closer and Oikawa was moving in place wherever he was.
"Kari, look…" Gatomon gestured to the walls around them. Gone were the rough edges and now there were smooth bricks around them. "We are under some structure."
"A castle?" UlforceVeedramon ventured. "All bad guys have a castle."
"Cliché but possible," Blademon said, tilting his head in consideration.
They stopped when the narrow path ended and they found themselves in a circular room with various wide and open entrances that lead to it. Kari looked down at her Digivice, her anticipation growing as she saw the dots coming closer and closer, as she, Maki and the two Digimon climbed down from UlforceVeedramon's grasp.
Various figures emerged from the entrance, only one of them familiar to the girl: "T.K!"
Hearing his name, T.K smiled when he saw her. "Hey, Kari!"
Patamon flew from his positi
The short greetings were stopped when they took notice of the other figures inside the room. Everyone stopped and looked at the new Digimon accompanying them.
"Everyone, I am glad to see you," GrandisKuwagamon said, stepping forward and giving them a reassuring look. "I am GrandisKuwagamon, I'm…"
"Ken and Wormmon, right?" Blastmon asked with a smile as he approached him. "Well, I'm Cody and Armadillomon!"
Valkyrimon flew and landed on UlforceVeedramon's shoulder. "Hey, Davis and V-Mon."
"Yolei? Hawkmon?" The dragon mumbled staring the Valkyrie, before nodding. "Heh! We all did it then!"
"Everyone has reached the Mega Level, Matrix Evolution," T.K spoke with a wide smile, marveling at the new forms of his friends.
Maki observed the conversation between the two children and the Megas without understanding, while Blademon looked around impressed. "So, all of them can access this form…" He mused.
GrandisKuwagamon turned to him. "Blademon," he said, staring at the Ultra Digimon.
The former Reaper looked up at the giant insectoid, understanding from the introductions whom formed him. "Ichijouji… Wormmon…"
The two stared at one another, before GrandisKuwagamon stretched his hand forward. The size difference was almost funny, but Blademon understood what the gesture meant. He reached for the hand and gripped it, the two giving them a firm shake, burying the hatchet and quickly reaching an understanding:
Work together to defeat the man who ruined their lives.
"That form looks powerful," Blademon offered as a compliment as they finished their shake.
"Although even now I can feel how it drains us…" GrandisKuwagamon said, clenching his fists.
Valkyrimon grabbed her near empty backpack and took out a snack. "And we're running out of fuel."
"This is almost over. We all came here because we saw the same thing, right?" Kari asked, looking at her screen.
T.K nodded and also pulled his Digivice out, both showing the white dot separated from them. Kari pulled out the Tag given by Gennai and used it as a compass of sorts, moving it in different directions to check the shine and see where it was strongest.
Her eyes furrowed when the light grew as she pointed to a wall. Nothing special about it, just a simple wall. She approached it and stuffed the Tag into her pockets before taking a deep breath and summoning her aura and focusing it around her fist.
"HA!" She threw a single punch to the wall and it crumbled like a cookie.
Maki observed from the sidelines with wide eyes. 'These kids all have the same power as Hisoka!?'
When the small cloud of dust settled, they all saw what was behind the wall:
"Oh goody, another narrow tunnel!" UlforceVeedramon quipped, his voice laced with annoyance.
Blastmon cracked his knuckles and neck. "If it's the way to go, who am I to deny it?"
Valkirymon floated down and looked at Maki, who took a step back when seeing the Digimon. "This is the woman that was with Hisoka, right? We are taking her with us?" She asked, turning to the others.
Kari huffed and turned around. "Of course we are!"
Valkirymon waved her hand around, seeing the girl's expression. "I didn't mean it like that! I meant take her where Oikawa is! It could be dangerous."
Kari looked at the Tag. "Killua must be in that direction… Could Oikawa be that strong?" she wondered, turning around to look at the tunnel.
"What can you tell us about him?" GrandisKuwagamon looked down at Blademon who crossed his arms and thought.
"He knows the four principles of Nen, and advanced techniques," Blademon himself knew of this thanks to the fake memories the very same man gave him. "And his Hatsu is just the Seed he used on us. For the longest time I thought it was just a boost in strength, not realizing it could be used for manipulation."
"Could he use it on himself?" T.K asked, "if he could then he could give himself a boost."
"I doubt it. He never trained me, it was all Mummymon and Arukenimon until I surpassed them," Blademon cupped his chin in thought. "I think even you guys might be stronger than him… He was just at the right level to face a Champion, I think."
He frowned and looked at the tunnel. "If Killua is there, and he has not taken his Digivice back and use it to find us…"
"Then he is either facing a strong Deadmon, or Oikawa is somehow giving him trouble," T.K finished, his brow creased.
"Then enough yapping!" Patamon said, a determined expression on his face. "We can't waste our energy just sitting around!"
Everyone nodded, and Kari turned towards Maki, she approached her and smiled. "It'll be okay, Miss Maki, just stick close and we'll protect you!"
Maki stared at the girl, before sighing. "I don't really have a choice, do I?"
Kari gave a sheepish laugh as UlforceVeedramon scooped them back again. Blademon climbed in the back of the knight, while everyone gathered together and to the tunnel.
Blademon looked ahead, his hands tightening as he knew he was about to see the face of a man who in a single night went from being the person he admired the most towards the one he hated the most. However, he was not going to just blindly attack and let his anger control him like when he was still trapped by the Seed's power.
'My priority is protecting Killua. I won't fail in that labor.'
Inside GrandisKuwagamon similar thoughts ran through Ken's head. Wormmon's conscience felt his partner's turmoil. "Ken?"
"I know. I won't face this alone," Ken assured. "I have my friends, and I have you. We won't let Oikawa get away with everything he has done!"
The Digidestined ventured further down the tunnel, hoping this was their chance to put an end to it all.
Killua knew he, and about all of his friends back in his world were ridiculously strong. What kind of fourteen-year-old could carry over sixty-four tons? One trained as an assassin, a Hunter, and a prominent Nen user.
So, you will understand that he is reasonably frustrated over the fact that a man who unlocked his Nen five years ago, and that from what he knows has no prior training like the one Killua had, is giving him a hard time just staying down and getting defeated by him!
He knows said man was also a Nen User, and that he was possessed by a strong, Ultra level Digimon. But said Digimon was defeated by him, while he was being held back by the needle implanted on his forehead by his brother.
For anyone who knew those facts, their opinion might be the same as Killua's. It was complete and utter bullshit, yet here he was.
He groaned and dodged a blow that cracked the wall behind him when it impacted, he leaped back and glared at the man before sharpening his nails and charging straight towards Myotismon's position. The Digimon in human skin turned and powered up his aura, he rose his foot and stomped his foot down on the floor, lifting a cloud of smoke. Killua broke through the smoke, his nails dispersing the smoke but not hitting his target.
He looked up, to see the possessed man diving down on him for a spike attack. Killua leaped out of the way and Myotismon crashed down on the floor, the young Hunter took the chance and took a deep breath.
'Fuck it, turning on the switch…' His mind went blank and what was left was just Killing Intent taking the reign.
His hands lashed out like hungry snakes, Myotismon's eyes widened and he leaped back but Killua gave chase. To his credit, Myotismon continued to use Oikawa's body better than the own man could ever do, dodging and waving around the arms as best as he could yet that did not let him unscathed. Killua's nails were able to rip through the man's arms various times, leaving them with deep cuts, and even able to cut a part of the man's cheek and it wasn't shallow.
Oikawa's teeth on the right side of his face were now on full display thanks to him. His right cheek was cut open thanks to Killua's attack.
Far from looking angered that his vessel was hurt, Myotismon smirked as that happened. This trend continued even when Killua's hand stabbed him right above the shoulder—he was aiming at the heart but Myotismon managed to move right on time—and then grabbed hold of it not allowing the boy to retreat it.
Killua's remaining hand carried its momentum, being so close to chopping Oikawa's neck off. But the man rose his other hand and while one of his fingers got sliced off he was able to seize the boy's hand.
That's when it happened. The aura of Oikawa's body suddenly exploded it became bigger and gained more density and all of it was then focused on a single spot. Oikawa's knee flew towards Killua's got.
The strength behind that blow was not normal. Killua's mind snapped back into place just from the pain the attack caused him. His eyes bulged and the air abandoned his lungs, he could feel the ripples of the attack resonating across his body as he was launched backwards by it and his back impacting against one of the walls and leaving a crack on it.
'W-What the hell was that!?' Killua coughed out blood as he slid down, clutching his gut to alleviate the pain. He didn't remember the last time he was hit this hard. 'T-That was not a normal Ko, what was that!?'
Oikawa's body doubled over and puked, black liquid falling from his mouth. Yet when he looked up there was a smile gracing his lips as he wiped the liquid from his mouth, and by the eyes Killua could tell Myotismon was still in control.
"I told you we had control over all the Nen types, we didn't develop a Conjuring Ability, but we did develop an Enhancing ability," He explains with a low cackle. "Retribution. The more pain we feel our increases, but we need to release it in just a small burst into aura focused on using Ko, and its stronger with the more pain we are and we send it back to whom did it to us!"
Killua observed the stared at the man. He had deep cuts around his body, bleeding badly. His shoulder had a stab wound, his cheek has been cut open, he noticed that the finger he lost was the ring finger. And that black liquid was clearly having an effect on him.
Oikawa looked like shit, and he took full advantage of it. Or rather, Myotismon did.
'T-That's how he was being able to keep up with me, his aura just kept getting bigger and bigger.' Killua thought as he laid down, holding his chest. 'I definitely broke something though. This is what I get for just using brute force… Not that I had a lot more to do.'
The boy just laid there, a drip of blood running down his chin and breathing hard. Myotismon gave hearty chuckle as he saw him like that and his aura focused around his hand. "Time for you to die, Anomaly! BLOODY WHIP!"
The red aura with the form of a whip lashed out to attack down at the boy. Yet all it hit was the rocky floor of the chamber.
"W-What!?" Myotismon gaped. "UCK!" Then his eyes bulged and blood escaped from his mouth.
He looked down and saw Killua's hand inserted in his lower abdomen. The boy sighed and clicked his tongue. "Dang it, I missed. Guess I am out of it, still…"
Myotismon kicked the boy away and then pressed hand to stop the bleeding, for the first time his demeanor changed and he looked genuinely angry. "H-How can you move after that!?"
Killua straightened and shrugged. "Was that your trump card or something?" He asked with a hint of mockery on his voice. "Sorry, I guess I'm just used to the pain. Still hurts like a bitch though… You don't seem so used to it, though. You prepared to get injured during the fight and that kept you going despite everything, but when you lowered your guard? Well…"
Myotismon growled, his eyes flickering between his blue and Oikawa's black.
Killua's nails sharpened as he walked towards him. "Don't resurrect this time, you bastard."
Myotismon clutched the spot that was bleeding out, glaring at the boy in growing anger. There was despair on his features, clearly not wanting his plans to come to an end right here at the hands of the same boy that thwarted them five years ago.
"Metal… Wolf…"
They both froze, Killua turning with growing trepidation where the dawned form of BlackMetalGarurumon was standing back to its feet, a cyan glow coming from its maw.
'No! Not now! Don't wake up now!' Killua growled, dashing towards Oikawa-Myotismon, in an attempt to kill him before it was too late.
"…BREATH!"
The cyan blast was launched and hit Killua square, sending him crashing towards a wall. He coughed out blood as he felt his already broken ribs receive more punishment and his skin getting burned from the ice of the attack.
'I am… Passing out…' Killua struggled to breath. He hasn't felt like this since he got stabbed by Blademon, or when he almost bled to death against those Chimera siblings that used him as a dart board. 'I can't…! I need to stay… awake!'
The possessed human watch it all happen. His eyes losing the blue glow and settling on the black color from before. Oikawa was back, he slumped down and fell to his knees coughing blood and black liquid. "T-Thank goodness, we are saved." He said, genuine relief coming out on his words.
Oikawa limped over to where his discarded coat was and took out something that caught Killua's attention. His eyes widening as much as they could in his weakened state: 'A Digivice… My Digivice!' He thought, feeling slightly elated that the device meant for him was so close.
"Time to go home… Dagomon can take care of the rest of pests…" Oikawa muttered, grinning widely. "BlackMetalGarurumon… End him."
Killua flinched and turned to see the metallic wolf glaring down at him, its yellow eyes glowing in contrast to the dark room.
However, before they could do a move, the doors to the room were blown down. Every occupant turned to see the cause of the ruckus and Killua blinked at the sight. 'Are those…?'
To the scene the forms of the Mega forms of the Digidestined, accompanied by Kari and T.K with their partners. Once he understood what had happened, Killua couldn't help but smile. 'They all did it…' He thought with a mix of pride and admiration.
Seeing those Digimon and sensing their strength, Oikawa tensed. "The Digidestined…" He mumbled, clutching the Digivice tighter.
Kari and T.K stepped forward, examining the scene. "Killua!" Kari called, after seeing him in the floor.
"We're here, hang on!" T.K told him, frowning at seeing his state.
GrandisKuwagamon stepped forward as he glared at Oikawa, sentiment shared by Blademon. "Yukio Oikawa…"
Knowing they were outnumbered and in no condition to fight, Oikawa clutched the Digivice as a dark aura started to emanate from him. "BLACKMETALGARURUMON! COME HERE, NOW!" He ordered.
The wolf's angry demeanor changed as he turned to the man and leaped to his side. Their forms starting to flicker like a broken t.v, which the Digidestined knew what it meant.
"He's planning on getting away!?" Valkyrimon exclaimed in anger.
"ICE WOLF CLAW!" Various missiles emerged from BlackMetalGarurumon before they had time to react or trace a plan.
The missiles all flew towards them, making them have to scatter around the chamber to avoid them and giving the duo time for their form to barely be corporeal.
Oikawa gave a triumphant grin as he felt the grip of this world slipping off him. Dagomon didn't had an interest in him after all now that his prized Child of Light was nearby. He was close, he just had to heal his wounds and now that he had BlackMetalGarurumon the last part of his plan could—
"Tiger's Hunt!"
The sudden yell caused him to look up in time to see Blademon's sword flying towards him. Oikawa rose his hand in reflect. To his surprise, the aim seemed off and the sword flew past him, but leaving a deep cut on the back of his hand. He gritted his teeth and glared at his former underling, who was standing a few meters away from him with his arms extended for the throw.
… Something clattered on the floor as the sword pierced his hand.
The sword vanished, summoned back by its owner, and Oikawa only had a moment to look down and recognize what has fallen. His eyes widened and he tried to reach for it… But soon he and BlackMetalGarurumon were gone from this world, sent back to his own.
"He got away…" Blademon groaned, wiping his sword.
When everything settled, Kari and Gatomon ran to Killua's aid. The girl kneeling and pressing a hand to his chest. "Killua…"
"Man, why is it that every time we separate you get all beaten up?" Gatomon questioned, trying to inject humor into the situation now that the danger seemed to have passed for the moment.
"Maybe some asshole up there thinks I need a challenge every once in a while!" Killua groaned, glaring at the ceiling as if blaming it for his problems.
Kari's body shone and a pulse rang through Killua's body. However, he could see that it was taking an extra strain in her as she did so. "Did you heal anyone on the way here?" He asked her.
She didn't respond, too focused on tending his wounds, so Gatomon did. "We had a scuffle before coming here and she healed that woman Maki, although it was nothing serious."
"Maki?" Killua turned his head to see a woman being protected by UlforceVeedramon's arms. "Hisoka's friend. Though, I guess that's over."
Finally, Kari pulled her hands back, wiping sweat. "It was… not as severe as last time…" She said, panting.
Killua sat up and smiled at her. "It's good to see you."
Kari smiled back, radiantly. "Feels like we haven't seen in ages."
There was a sense of tranquility in finally being reunited, not only between the two but also knowing that the entire group was back together.
"I hate to interrupt your moment," Both of them flinched and blushed as the voice snapped them out. Looking up they saw Blademon standing in front of the two, extending a hand out holding something, "I believe this belongs to you."
Killua blinked and looked at what his partner was holding. His eyes widened he heard how Kari let out a gasp. In Blademon's hands was a Digivice…
… His Digivice.
Hesitant, Killua reached out and took it. And once he had it, he clutched it tightly. "It's mine… My Digivice," he smiled and looked up at his partner. "You're amazing, man! When did you get it!?"
Blademon blushed bashfully and looked to the spot where Oikawa was. "That asshole dropped it when I threw my sword at him."
Killua nodded in acceptance and looked down at his Digivice. It was not a D-3 like the others, it was one that fit for the last adventure five years ago, but that didn't matter. Holding it on his hand… it just felt right.
"Here…" Kari said, digging into her pocket and pulling out the Tag Gennai gave them. "To… finish the look I guess."
Killua quirked an eyebrow before fishing out the locket she gave him and showing it off. "Why? This already does the job," he said, giving her a light-hearted smile.
The two shared a small laugh before sitting up and regrouping with the rest of the group. Killua admired the new Mega forms of his friends, giving a low whistle. "You guys look awesome."
"We feel awesome! … most of the time," Blastmon said, downing the last snacks that were on Cody's backpack.
GrandisKuwagamon nodded. "We need to get out of here soon. Otherwise our powers will drain and we'll be sitting ducks."
"On it, I'll tell Gennai the mission was a success," T.K nodded, taking out his D-Terminal and rapidly writing the message and getting ready to sent it.
"Wait…" A hand was placed on top of his own. Surprised, T.K looked up to see Kari looking at him. "There's still something that… I-I think we need to do…" She said, an edge of doubt in her voice.
"Eh? Kari, what are you talking about?" Gatomon asked, worry sipping through her voice.
Kari took her hand off T.K's and looked down. "If we go back… this whole nightmare might start again… Dagomon is a different threat than Oikawa… Its true that it influences our world thanks to Oikawa's actions but… what if it grows strong enough that it can attack us at any time…"
Her fists clenched at her side and she shook her head. "I don't want to dealt with it for the rest of my life!" She declared, her voice choking up a bit. "Not anymore…"
She looked up at her friends with a determined yet pleading look. "I know this might sound selfish but… please… I want to defeat Dagomon before it hurts anyone else!" She declared with newfound strength.
Everyone was surprised by her outburst, all except for Gatomon whom looked at Kari with a mix of worry and pride. 'Kari… to ask so loudly something from the others when you usually keep things to yourself. You must really want to get over this whole issue settled.'
'Kari…' From within Valkyrimon's code, Yolei observed her friend while reminiscing of the talk they had when this ocean had attempted to take her. To see her doing so unlike her and more like something Yolei herself would do, this must mean a lot to her.
The others were equally surprised. All staring at Kari after she made her request in silence.
Finally, Killua broke out of the stupor while walking forward and standing in front of Kari. The girl blinked when their eyes met and worked up the strength to speak up. "Kill—" She didn't get to finish when Killua bonked her in the head. "Ouch! W-What was that for!?"
"For being an idiot," Killua said in a blank, annoyed tone.
Kari flinched and looked away, biting her lip. "B-But I…"
"To this point you are still asking if we are going to help you?" Killua interrupted her, crossing his arms over his chest and raising an eyebrow. "We're your friends, of course we are going to help. Right?" He turned to the others with a smile on his face.
Kari was surprised hearing this, she looked up to see all her friends who had various degrees of determination on their faces.
"What you are saying is true, Kari," GrandisKuwagamon said with a tone full of resolution. "Dagomon won't stop, and at this moment we have a good shot at beating him."
"The fastest we do it the better!" UlforceVeedramon cheered, pumping his fists and deploying his sabers.
Valkyrimon flew down and grabbed Kari's hands into her own. "After seeing you yell out your emotions with such strength, how can I not help?" She giggled. "It seems you don't need my determination anymore; you've found your own."
"Feeling like I'm getting peer pressured," Blastmon joked, before his face turned serious. "But Dagomon truly has to answer for its crimes, we won't let it get away!"
T.K smiled and put a hand on Kari's shoulders. "We're with you all the way. Without Dagomon, we will only focus on Oikawa."
Patamon smiled as he flew up from T.K's hat. "Besides, beating bad guys is what we are good at!"
Blademon huffed, "My first day being your ally and I am facing someone—or something—with God deliriums." He then grinned widely. "I own that bastard for not making things easy for me this whole time!"
From UlforceVeedramon's arms, Maki frowned. "You kids are insane. I've seen that thing before, not only is it massive in size it is also in power!"
"Did we ask you, you old hag?" Killua asked with a half-lidded look. "Don't think you are off the hook with me, yet."
"Old!? I'M 27!"
"OF BEING OLD!?"
"Pfff… Hahahaha!"
Kari's laughter stopped the squabble and they turn to see her trying to hold back her giggles with a hand and taking breaths to calm herself. "Everyone… thank you."
Killua smiled at her. "Dummy, you don't have to thank your friends."
She nodded and looked down to see Gatomon giving her a determined smile. All around everyone knew what they had to do: find Dagomon and defeat it once and for all.
"If this guy is as cliché as they come and we are under a castle, then he must have a throne room above us!" UlforceVeedramon exclaimed, pointing up in triumph.
Killua shrugged and folded his hands behind his head. "That's a good guess as any."
"Can you not involve me in this?" Maki asked in annoyance. "I do not have freaky powers or a partner."
Kari turned to her with a reassuring smile. "Don't worry Miss Maki, we won't let anything bad happen to you, I promise!"
Maki looked at her for a moment before scoffing and looking away.
GrandisKuwagamon being bigger carried Blastmon, T.K and Patamon while Valkyrimon flew at his side. UlforceVeedramon continued to carry Kari, Gatomon, Maki and Blademon and the recently acquired Killua.
"Ulforce-Saber!" With his free hand, Ulforce Veedramon broke through the ceiling, guiding his friends out of the catacombs and towards the surface of the castle.
It was time to face the ruler of the Dark Ocean.
A/N: BUFFFFFFFFF. This chapter takes the cake of the chapter that has taken me the most effort to write!
There were so many things I changed and re-arranged from this chapter! From beginning to end! I've never done this sort of thing with other chapters.
But now we are closing on the end of this Arc!
At last… I think we've been on it for like two years!
I'm feeling like Oda.
Anyways! Check out the P a treon link on my other chapters to support me if you can and I'll see you guys soon. Hopefully…
