The days after Demise's fall were chaotic, to say the least. A thousand things had to be settled. But the tension that had kept Hyrule in a choke-hold for the past months had finally dispersed, and we could all breathe easy again.
Zelda was especially busy in the aftermath. She hadn't even had time to really let the reality of her existence sink in; the fact that she was the Goddess Hylia, reborn in a mortal body. There were alliances to confirm, trade routes to secure, endless diplomatic meetings to attend. Such was the life of a Queen.
The Rito had officially become our allies now. Hyrule city was soon full of Rito visitors, and most people cheerfully accepted them.
Cia apologized for her behaviour, and she and Lana returned to the Temple of Souls to continue their duties of protecting the Triforce. Cia assured us that she was over Link; after all, now she had a sister to keep her company and there was no Demise anymore to pour venom in her ears.
Volga said his goodbyes and returned to his home, with a promise to come aid us whenever we needed him. He gave us a scale from his dragon-form he had lost during the battle. „For your son", he had said. „A reminder that he has a friend outside of Hyrule."
Ganondorf and Cassandra soon also left Hyrule to go travelling. Ganondorf felt that self-imposed exile would only be fitting for someone who caused as much grief. All of their daughters but the youngest two decided to live in Gerudo Valley, with their kinswomen.
As for Link and I, we happily retreated back to our house and spent our days tending to our horses and doting on Gareth, and later also on our daughter Carys. She and Zelda's daughter, also named Zelda as per the tradition, were born within a few days of each other. Gareth at first wasn't thrilled with not having all of our attention anymore, but he soon understood that it meant that he would soon have new playmates.
Years passed, and it seemed like Hyrule had finally found peace. The first one and a half years of our marriage had undoubtedly been our biggest adventure. Our biggest, but not our last. We went on to go on many more.
But those… those are a different story, best told another time.
