Her father was angry.
"Do you understand what will happen now," They were headed to the next family. "Rumors will fly about you, about that demon!"
Kagome went to open her mouth to speak, but he kept going.
"You have to think about other people, Kagome! Your mother, out village, war!"
"You said I had a choice," She snapped,
"Within reason!" He snapped as they arrived.
"Now be silent, listen, and obey!"
Sit boy!
Kagome put her hand on her chest again and went pale. What was that? This feeling again?
"Kagome?"
Kagome blinked and looked at her father, who was offering her a hand to help her get off her horse.
She took in a deep breath and slid down.
Head held low, she followed silently.
Thankfully, they arrived before word of what happened did.
Her father watched as Kagome twisted her clothing in her hands as she sat. She kept her eyes down. Her insides were crawling, itching. She was struggling to be a good daughter when all she wanted to do was run.
She looked outside the window. His name whispered across her mind.
"Then it is settled," She heard the man across from them say. The men stood and shook hands, and the son, who looked young like her, bowed.
The two men left laughing, and Kagome looked at the son across from her. "Pardon, but what just happened?"
He looked at her. "Did you not hear?" He asked, "We are to be married,"
Kagome's mouth hung up, and then she botled, "Father, wait!"
He turned and glared at her, daring her.
"May I have a small word, a favor?"
His shoulders softened, and he walked to her. "What is it, Kagome,"
"Can we go back to the last village,"
He looked around unease. "Why would you want to do that," He asked,
"I, I want to marry his son!"
Her father's eyes went wide, shocked. But true to his word, he would allow her to choose so long as she chose a human. So they packed up, with apologies, and headed back.
But as they drew closer and closer, the need to run, to get out of her own skin, dug at her, and she knew what it was.
She wanted him. To see him.
But could she be so brave? How could see tell if she was really want he wanted, that it wasnt all some trick. How could she ask him? Tell him?
"If you can't find the words, look at his eyes,"
Kagome gasped again, turning pale; she got sick. What were these whispers, and who were the voices behind them?
It didnt matter; she needed to go to him. Kagome kicked her horse and sped past her father. She would need to hurry, and he would follow.
Once, she got a good distance from her father and called out for him, "Lord Sesshomaru!"
He moved. Meeting her halfway, she didnt even let the horse slow before she threw herself into his arms.
"Miko?"
"He is forcing me to marry!"
"Why have you come here?"
"I,-"
She faltered, even looking into his eyes, she faltered.
She could hear her father call. A blush ran across her face. Konna stalled her father, stopping him some ways back.
"Kagome?" He asked,
"At least, will you kiss me?"
His eyes went wide slightly. "Why?"
"Because I love you, and I think you might love me too," Though she wasn't sure why he loved her, somehow she knew he did.
His heart hammered against his chest, and he put her arm around her waist, pulling her in tight.
He eyed her lips, and she starved for his, and so slowly, he lowered his mouth to hers.
He was in love, and she was hungry. She inhaled deep, and he dipped his tongue into her mouth.
The memory of her death flooded him, and his eyes grew wet, but the demon Lord would not cry because she was here.
A stage magic swirled around them.
"I will always love you," This time, it was her own voice she heard, and the memory of death, the last time she was with him, flashed in her mind's eye, and the magic that swirled struck her in the chest like a blade.
She broke the kiss for air "Sesshomaru."
He yanked back and looked at her. The way she said his name, the age to her voice, he knew,
"Miko?"
Kagome looked at her hands, then back at him. "How I mean-"
Her head hurt. "I am so confused,"
Fear went through him, and she could see it. "Ecspect about one thing," She said, looking into his eyes,
He waited,
"Im not confused about you," She tipped toed to kiss him. He picked her up bridle style and bolted away, lips locked, eyes wet.
His kiss awoken her heart, and his love awoken her soul. The fog was lifted, she remembered.
