Based on 9x22. In this story Jay and Hailey are not currently together.

Jays POV

I felt a bit disorientated, but I didn't really know why, then it all came back to me, the suspect, the explosion, oh god where was Hailey? I looked around behind me and that's when I saw her, still, god she was so still.

"Hailey!" I ran over to her, I saw blood underneath her head, I knelt beside her taking her hand in mine and squeezing it.

"Come on Hailey, come back to me" I pleaded. I then pulled out my radio.

"5021 George I have an officer down, I repeat I've got an officer down I need an ambo now!" I screamed down the radio. I threw it on the floor and put my full attention back onto Hailey, the puddle of blood growing each minute. I assessed her body looking for any other injuries, she had blood coming out of her side, I gently lifted up her t-shirt to reveal a cut on her side, it must've been a piece of shrapnel. It didn't look bad, well not as bad as her head. I was getting worried she wasn't waking up, she's been unconscious for a long time. I heard the ambo screech to a stop and the paramedics jump out, they transferred her onto the gurney and loaded her into the ambo, I was by her side the entire time. I could hear Voight yelling down the radio asking me if Hailey was okay, I didn't know what to say, so I just said "We're on our way to med." I held her hand the whole way to med.

Nobody's Pov

The paramedics had to intubate Hailey in the ambo, Jay was trying hard to keep it together. They had arrived at med within 10 minutes the ambo doors swung open, and they unloaded her and wheeled her into the ED. Will was there waiting for Jay and Hailey to arrive.

"Jay are you okay, what the hell happened?" will asked anxiously as they wheeled Hailey into a trauma bay.

"There was an explosion, she was close to it, god! Is she gonna be okay. She has to be okay."

"They'll work on her know, come on let's go get you some fresh clothes, then we can go see if intelligence is her here yet." Jay didn't want to go, what if this was the last time he would see Hailey, her intubated covered in blood. But he was no good to her right now wearing her blood, he knew he needed to let the doctors work on her.

"Okay but let's be quick I need to know what's going on with her." Jay said as Will led the way to his locker to get Jay some fresh clothes.

After Will had got Jay some fresh clothes, Will took him back to the waiting room with the rest of the team and they waited and waited. Will tried to get some information but had no luck. After hours of waiting Connor emerged into the waiting room where he caught all of intelligences gaze. Jay hopped out his seat towards Connor.

"Is she going to be okay?" Jay asked nervous he couldn't lose her, his breathing slightly hitched.

"They were complications during surgery, she lost a lost of blood and she is currently unconscious. The next 24-48 hours are critical" Connor explained as he looked at everyone of the team members, he really didn't have anymore information than that. In truth he wasn't sure she would survive, but she is young and healthy, so she had those odds in her favour.

"What does that mean Connor? Is she gonna survive, I can't live without her." Jay said as tears started to form in eyes, he wasn't one to cry but this was Hailey they were talking about.

"We're gonna keep an eye on her but if she survives tonight then I'm hopeful that she was pull though, she's young and she's a fighter, she proved that much in surgery, just don't give up hope Jay. You'll be able to see her in like 20 minutes, only 1 person is allowed in there at this time. I'll get a nurse to come get you when it's time to visit." Jay nodded as Connor walked out of the waiting room to check on some of his other patients.

The 20 minutes had flown by and by that time a nurse had come to collect say so he could see Hailey, He was warned about all the tubes and wires coming out of her and to not worry to much about them as they were helping her. As Jay opened the door to her room he was taken back by her figure, she really did have wires and tubes everywhere, she looked so fragile. He pulled the chair next to her bed as he sat down and slowly took his hand onto her hand, being very careful as he didn't want to hurt her. He began rubbing her hand telling her everything was going to be alright, not sure if he was convincing an unconscious Hailey or himself. He just wanted to see her eyes, he wanted her to joke with him anything. He was in love with her and had been for a while but he didn't have it in to confront her with his feelings, but this felt like a wake up call for him, if she made it out of this he needed to tell her how she felt. Of course she would make it out of this, this is Hailey we're talking about, he thinks she is a total badass. He was just hoping that she felt the same way otherwise things would get a bit awkward at work.

Visiting hours were over and Jay was still there, Will had convinced the nurses to let him stay as he knew Jay wasn't going to leave her side. He was going to stay with her until she was awake then discharged, he had to make sure something doesn't happen to her again. Then he keeps thinking back to the explosion, if only he was closer to it then she was, she'd be okay right now and not lying in a hospital bed fighting for her life. It just broke Jay seeing her like this.
