1.1~ A HARD DAYS NIGHT
Meredith-The game. They say either a person has what it takes to play, or they don't. My mother was one of the greats. Me, on the other hand...I'm kinda screwed.
HOUR 1
When the blaring sound of my alarm clock filled the room, I jolted out of bed, quickly grabbed some clothes, and hurried down the stairs. Donna had already put a pot of coffee on, and as I descended, I found her and Harvey sitting in the kitchen, leisurely sipping their coffee.
As I hastily grabbed my steaming coffee cup, I reached over and swiped Harvey's last piece of toast from his hand. "Are you ready to go?" he inquired, to which I simply nodded. He leaned in to kiss Donna before we left, and she sweetly wished him luck. As we made our way to the car, Harvey took a bite of toast and I expressed my nerves about the upcoming event. With a reassuring smile, he comforted me with words of encouragement. When we arrived at the hospital, I confided in Harvey once more about my anxiety. With a final expression of love, I closed the car door, and as I turned away, "I love you" he shouted as I was embarrassed as a man and woman walked past.
A man came over and showed us around the O.R. "Each of you comes here hopeful Wanting in on the game a month ago you were in med school being taught by doctors today, you are the doctors. The seven years you spend here as a surgical resident will be the best and worst of your life.
You will be pushed to the breaking point. Look around you and say hello to your competition. Eight of you will switch to an easier speciality. Five of you will crack under the pressure. Two of you will be asked to leave. This is your starting line. This is your arena. How well you play that's up to you" said the chief
we then headed to the locker room there was another doctor calling out the names on the list "Martin, Robinson, Bond, Parkins" he yelled as they all left the locker room "there are only six women out of twenty" said Meredith as I looked at who was left
"Yeah I hear one of them's a model Seriously, like that's going to help with the respect thing?" asked Christina as I looked at the doctors that were going to be our surevisiors "You're Cristina, right?" Meradith asked as she turned to us "Which resident you assigned to? I got Bailey" she asked as I stood there shy and not talking.
Shy girl who you with?" asked Christina as i turned round and "I have Dr Bailey" i said as George turned round to me "I'm George O'Malley, uh, we met at the mixer, you had a black dress with a slit up the side, strappy sandals" said George as I giggled "Im Rosie Specter" i said as doctor came in "O'Malley, Yang, Grey, Stevens, Specter" she said as we made our way out of the locker room.
"And I'm totally forgettable" muttered George as i smiled and we headed to the Nazi "Bailey?" Christina asked a doctor that was stood in the hallway "End of the hall" he said as we got there "That's the Nazi?" she asked as we were confused. "I thought the Nazi would be a guy" said George as we stood there together "I thought the Nazi would be the Nazi" said Meradith as I rolled my eyes "Hitler is dead",I said as the others laughed.
Izzie piped up "Maybe it's professional jealousy. Maybe she's brilliant, and they call her Nazi because they're jealous, maybe she's nice. Chistina then turns to the group "let me guess you're the model" she as we saw DR Bailey. Izzie then put her hand out to shake her hand "Hi, I'm Isobel Stevens, but everyone calls me Izzie" she said as she ignored the handshake.
"I have five rules. Memorize them. Rule number one, don't bother sucking up, I already hate you, that's not gonna change.Trauma protocol, phone lists, pagers ,Nurses will page you, you answer every page at a run. "Rule number two. Your first shift starts now and lasts forty-eight hours. You're interns, grunts, nobodies, bottom of the surgical food chain, you run labs, write orders, work every second night till you drop and don't complain" she said as she carried on and we followed her as a group.
"On call rooms attendings hog them, sleep when you can, where you can, which brings me to rule number three, if I'm sleeping, don't wake me, unless your patient is actually dying" she continued "Rule number four, the dying patient better not be dead when I get there, not only would you have killed someone, you would have also woke me for no good reason, we clear?" she asked as we all nodded and Meredith raised her hand " you said that there were 5 rules" she said then i rased my hand "that was only 4" I said as her pager went off. "Rule number five when I move, you move Get out of my way" said Dr bailey as she pushed some of the doctors out of the way" she said shouting at the people in stair way.
Our first patient was a girl called Katie who was seazures and the paramedic brought her in "Katie Bryce, fifteen-year-old female, new onset seizures, intermittent for the past week, ID lost en route, started grand mal seizing as we descended" he said as we moved her from bed to bed.
"All right, get her on her side, Izzie, ten milligrams Diazepam. No, no, the white lead is on the right, righty whitey, smoke over fire, a large bore I.V. don't let the blood haemolyse, let's go" said Dr Baliey
Dr Baliey then tolled us what to do for the rest of the shift that means every test in the book, CT, CBC, chem. seven, a tox screen, Cristina you're on labs, George and Rosie patient workups, Meredith , get Katie for a CT, she's your responsibility now" she as she was walking away when Izzie piped up "Wait, what about me?" Izzie asked as Dr Baliey turner around "you honey, you get to do rectal exams" she said as she headed to the OR.
Me and George were with a pacient as George was listening to his heart "Yeah, sounds good" said George as he took his stethascope off "He'll be fine? You'll be fine" said his wife kissing him on the head as "lf you don't count the fact that my bacon days are over, sure" he said as I looked at his chart "So bypass surgery tomorrow with Dr. Burke. l hear he's good. And, after that, you can have all the bacon-flavored soy product you can eat" I said as the man looked over at us "Mmm.Kill me now" he said as George he also looked at the chart " l wish l could, but l'm a healer" he said as he tried to get a needle into the man's arm as he winced sharply "No" said Dr Burke as he made George leave "Out.Out" he said as George stood back "Dr Burke I was wondering if I could try" I asked as he nodded and I took the injection and placed it into his arm "nice Specter" said Dr Burke as George came over "Bet you missed a lot when you first started out" he said as Dr Burke Scoft.
HOUR 7
It was now lunch time and we were all sat down i was falling alseep when Izzie was staring at the food with some horror when George spoke up this shift is a marathon, not a sprint, eat" he said as i woke up "I can't" she said as George smiled at me" you should eat something" he said as i took a bit of my pasta "you know Meredith is inbred?" said Christina who sat down "don't say that it's mean" i said as i got up "does anyone want any coffee" i said as i got up and went to get it.
when i had sat back down "Like it's uncommon around here to be a doctor's no, I mean royally inbred. Her mother is Ellis Grey" she said as i was shocked "Shut up, the Ellis Grey?" i said as i ate more of my pasta " Uh-huh" said christina as George looked confused "Who's Ellis Grey?" he asked as me ,Izzie and Cristina started laughing "The Grey method? Where'd you go to med school, Mexico?" asked Christina.
She's a living legend, she won the Harper Avery twice" said Izzie as I rolled my eyes "the award isnt that special its who has been the best in the year, do you know how many times i have had to listen to some saying that" i said as George then joined in "so I didn't know one thing" said George as i had put the lid on the box of Tupperware that didnt fit on one side so i pushed pushed the lid down and it sprung back off and hit George in the face "oh for the love of god " I yelled as Georgen grabbed his face and i gave him a tissue for his nose. He had missed a bit of blood so i wiped it off his face "aww is Rosie in love with little Georgie" said Christina as threw a bit of lettice off Meredith plate and threw it at her.
I rang my brother Harvey who answered the phone " hay Harvey just wanted to let you know ow that I'm okay" I said as he nodded on the end of the phone "that's good and I will see you at home" he said as I nodded too " I'm not gonna be home till late so don't wait up" I said as he sounded calm "how's your first day working with Mike and Rachel?" I said as he scoft "it's good and Donna is my secatary and we have some amazing cases" he said as I smiled and continued to talk to him.
"Good afternoon interns. It's posted, but I thought I'd share the good news personally. As you know, the honor of performing the first surgery is reserved for the intern that shows the most promise" said Dr Burke as he saw me on the phone "Specter. Phone away " he yelled as I looked over at him "Harvey I have to go I love you" I said as everyone was looking at me "im sorry it was my brother" I said as thry all gave me a funny look.
"if I may continue. As I'm running the OR today, I get to make that choice" he said as we all stood there wanting to be picked "George O'Malley You'll scrub in for an appendectomy this afternoon "Congratulations" he said as rubbed Georges back to congratulate him "Me?" he said in shock as i continued to pat him on the back "Enjoy" said Dr Burke as he leaves.
When i got back to work i was standing at the desk and sorting out my paper work when two people were stood at the desk "hello how can i help you?" i asked as they looked upset "we are here to see Katie Bryce" she said as i took them to her room "thank you" she said as i was put on another Job.
Where a man called Mr Morris was putting up a bit of fight with me "I DON'T WANT THAT IN MY ARM" he yelled as Dr Shepherd walked in "Hello Mr Morris what is going on in here?" He as he then hit the nurse that took over me as she was to get an IV line in his arm. I took the IV line and placed it gently in his arm and he calmed down.
my pager had gone off and it was Christina reminding me about Georges first surgery "Open identify ligate irrigate close, Open identify ligate rigate close, Open identify ligate irrigate close" he said as he was washing his hands as i was stood by the door "George your gonna be fine" i said as smiled at him. I then moved to the gallary where i sat next to Christina.
"He's going to faint ,he's a fainter" said one of the other interns as the others then join in "Naaah, code brown. Right in his pants" said another one.As one guy piped up "He's all about the flops, he's going to sweat himself unsterile" he said as they then all started to bet on him.
"Ten bucks says he messes up the McBride" said the first inturn as they were getting more into it. "Twenty says he cries" the the other " I'll put twenty on a total meltdown" said the third one " Fifty says he pulls the whole thing off" me and meridith "what thats 10 each then "That's one of us, down there The first one of us Where's your loyalty?" said Meradith
We had all cheered when he managed to remove the appendix and throw it in the tray. But then the man on the table started to crash and Dr Burke went mad. One of the new inturns that was called Alex Karev called George 007 and we were all a bit confused "What007 mean?"asked Izzie as me and meredith "licence to kill" she said as I rolled my eyes.
Hour 19
We were sat on the spear beds in the empty corridor and we were having another break"007, They're calling me 007, aren't they?" He said as we rolled our eyes "no one's calling you 007" me, meredith and Izzie yelled at the same time as i was falling asleep.
I was woken up by christina walking in and sitting down next to Meredith. George then carried on "I was on the elevator and Murphy whispered 007"George said but he was not letting this go and Christina was getting annoyed "Oh, how many times do we have go through this, George, five, ten? Give me a number or else I'm going to hit you" she said as i smiled as my pager went off.
It was a 911 "Shit its Mr Morris" i yelled as i tried to run out of the door only not seeing the bin that was there and i tripped and hit my elbow on the ground it was beeding through my scrubs and the contence from the bin was on the floor. George helped me up and i went to slip on a drink that was now open and on the floor but he caught me "thank you" i said as he gave me a plaster thst he took out of his scrubs pocket and put it on my elbow "thank you" I said as I kissed him on the cheek as my pager went again.
When I had ran to Mr Morris's room Dr Shephard was already there "where have you been I've been trying to page you" he snapped as turned Mr Morris on to his side and gave him some diazipam as the seizure stopped , "What happened?" He asked as he saw the blood coming from elbow "oh I tripped on my way over here and cut it" I said as he rolled his eyes "come with me" he said as he took me to a side room "here let me have a look" he said as took the plaster off the blood was still dripping down my arm "loo,so like you are going to need stitches" he said s he got the needle and thread out of a draw and began to sew it back together as I winced.
When it was done I thanked him and got back to work.
Hour 24
I woke in the on call room when my alarm was going off and I realized i was late for work. I Messsged George to see where we were. "Well good morning I'm going to do something pretty rare for a surgeon, I'm going to ask interns for help. I've got this kid, Katie Bryce. Right now, she's a mystery. She doesn't respond to her meds. Labs are clean, scans are pure, but she's having seizures" he said as Grand mal seizures with no visible cause" he said as walked three the door pretending everyone couldnt see me.
"She's a ticking clock , she's going to die if I don't make a diagnosis. Which is where you come in I can't do it alone I need your extra minds, extra eyes, I need you to play detective, I need you to find out why Katie is having seizures. Derek said as i stood next to George.
"I know you're tired, you're busy, you've got more work than you could possibly handle I understand. So, I'm going to give you an incentive. Whoever finds the answer rides with me. Katie needs surgery. You get to do what no interns get to do. Scrub in to assist on an advanced procedure. Dr Bailey's going to hand you Katie's chart. The clock is ticking fast, people. If we're going to save Katie's life, we have to do it soon" he finished as be becond me over.
"Dr Specter Ive a different job for you. Come with me" he said as i left the others who were all looking a bit worried. We then reached a hospital bed with the curtains around it "Look, give the antibiotics time to work" someone yelled as he opened the curtains "The antibiotics should've worked by now" shouted the nurse.
"She's old, she's freaking ancient. She's lucky she's still breathing" shouted Alex as he smiled at me "now, I got a shot to scrub in downstairs and a patient who wasn't alive during the civil war. Don't page me again "he snapped as Derek sae my hand. "Dr Karev this is Dr Goodman she will be helping you out with this case" he said as Alex didnt look too keen.
Dr Webber had come fown to check on the paicent and to ask me and Alex questiond "She's still short of breath?" He asked as i nooded " Did you get an ABG or a chest film?"Webber asked as raised my eyes "Oh, yes sir, I did" said Alex who face had a gone a bit red "And what did you see?" Webber asked.
"Oh, well, I had a lot of patients last" Alex tried to say but Dr Webber was getting more itritated by him "Name the common causes of post-op fever?" He asked as pulls out his note book "From your head. Not from a book. Don't look it up, learn it, it should be in your head. Name the common causes of post-op fever" he shouted as Alec put his book down "Uh...the common causes of post-op..." he stuttered as Dr Webber had gone birght red it the face.
" Can anybody name the common causes of post-op fever?" He shoyed st the top of his voice. "Wind, water, wound, walking, wonder drugs. The five Ws. Most of the time it's wind, splinting or pneumonia. Pneumonia's easy to assume, especially if you're too busy to do the tests" i said as he looked inpressed "thank you a least someone has lernt something" he said
"What else?" He asked a d i thought about it "The fourth W, walking. I think she's a prime candidate for a pulmonary ambulus" i said as he turned to question me more "How would you diagnose?" He asked i took a minute to think about it "Spiral CT, VQ scan, provide O2, dose with Heparin, and consult for an IVC filter" i said as he turned to Aelx "Do exactly as she says, then tell your resident that I want you off this case" he said as i smiled and he looked pissed off.
Hour 48
After handling the scans for Alex's pacient i then went to the desk to see whst was hsppening "We don't have to do that thing where I say something, and then you say something, and then somebody cries, and there's like a moment" said Chritina when she saw me "You two should get some sleep. You look like crap" she said as i was offended "we look better than you" i said and she was amazed "wow Rosie Specter spoke" she said as we left.
When I arrived home Harvey and Donna were still up "hay how did your first day go?" Asked Donna as I lifted up my arm "it was good. I got stitches in my elbow" I said as they were shocked "what happed?" Asked Harvey as I looked over at him "my pager went it was a pacient that was having a seizure and I tripped and landed on a metal trashcan in the corner of the room" I said as they laughed "we got Chinese food if you want some" said Donna as I nodded as we sat down and we talked about our first days at work.
Meredith-So. I made it through my first shift. We all did. The other interns are all good people, you'd like them. I think. I don't know. (fade to Meredith running up stairs in the rain, under an umbrella) Maybe. I like them. (She enters a building, reception waves her on) Oh, and I changed my mind. (Close-up on an older woman). I'm not going to sell the house. I'm going to keep it. I'll have to get a couple of roommates, but (we see Meredith is talking to her) it's home, you know?
1.2 THE FIRST CUT IS ALWAYS THE DEEPEST
"It's all about lines. The finish line at the end of residency. Waiting in line for a chance at the operating table.And then there's the most important line the line separating you from the people you work with.It doesn't help to get too familiar.To make friends.You need boundaries between you and the rest of the world. Other people are far too messy. It's all about lines. Drawing lines in the sand and praying like hell no one crosses them.
I stood at the notice board as Meredith put up a poster about wanting roommates "Why put up posters if you don't want roommates?" Izzie questioned as we stood at the nurses station "l do want roommates, We're together 1 00 hours a week. You want to live together too?" Repiled Meredith "l see you bring bribes now" said christina as she asked Izzie about the coffee.
"l need a place to live. My mom irons my scrubs. l have to get out of there" George admitted as Izzie looked at the coffee "lt's not a bribe. l just don't think it's a good idea" Meredith said to us all as I looked at all the coffee " lt's totally a bribe" I said as I took a coffee out of the holder.
"l can cook, and l'm an obsessive cleaner" said Izzie as I took a sip reading it was too hot and pulled a face "No. l just want three total strangers who l don't have to talk to or be nice to, and it's not a bribe lt's a mocha latte" she said as I looked at her and raised my eyebrows "Look I need to move out, I can hear my brother and his wife through the thin wall" I said as Christina and Meredith gave me a look "fine you can move in" she said as I gave her a little celebratory dance and George and Izzle didnt look happy.
We were stood by the stairs as Dr Baliey walked down them "George and Rosie, run the code team, Meredith, take the trauma pager , Cristina, deliver the labs to the patients, lzzie, you're on sutures" she said as she turned around to go back up the stairs.
"Dr.Bailey, l was hoping to assist you in the OR today. Maybe do a minor procedure.
l think l'm ready Mocha latte?" Said Meredith as Christina butted in "lf she gets to cut, l want to cut" said Christina as Bailey was about to speak but was interrupted by Izzie "me too" she said as i rolled my eyes and finished my coffee. " l wouldn't mind another shot" said George as I thorw my cup into the bin.
"Stop talking"Baliey yelled as we all stopped " Every intern wants to perform their first surgery, That's not your job.Do you know what your job is? To make your resident happy. Do l look happy? No. Why? Because my interns are whiny. You know what will make me look happy? Having code team staffed, having the trauma pages answered, having the weekend labs delivered and having someone down in the pit doing the sutures" Baliey snapped as she took a mocha from Meredith "No one holds a scalpel till l'm so happy l'm Mary-freakin'-Poppins" she added as she took a sip "Mocha latte, my ass" said Cristina as looked over at her as we stood there in silence "Why are y'all standing there? Move!" She yelled as we all rushed off.
I was stood with George and Christina as we listened to him bragging Do you know what the code team does? Saves lives" he said as I looked over at him a raised my eyebrows as I grabbed my coffee "l shock a heart, and someone lives to see another day. That's upbeat. lt's, uh, glass half full" he said as Christina took a sip of her coffee "Bambi, don't say another word till after the hunter shoots your mother" she said as I looked over at her.
I took another sip of my coffee "that was harsh. But I like the reference" I repiled as George looked over at her "i don't like you both " he said as I smiled "how will I cope" I said sarcastically "l have a BA from Smith, a PhD from Berkeley and an MD from Stanford, and l'm delivering lab results. lt will take all day to get through these" Christina complained as we didn't realise that Bailey was stood behind us "Then get started" she said as she made me jump. "Oh, l-l wasn't complaining" she replied as Alex was stood next to her.
"This inturn was reassigned, so he's mine now. Have him shadow you for the day.
Show him how l do things" she said as I my top lip went up "Alex Karev. Nice to meet you" he said as he stuck our his hand for Christina to shake but the ignored him. "You're the pig who called Rosie a nurse. "l hate you on principle" said Christina as I smiled.
"And you're the pushy, overbearing kiss-ass. l, uh, l hate you too" replied Alex as I laughed "Oh, it should be fun then" I said as mine and George's pagers beeped and he left.
l Walked past the nursery and stood there with Meredith and George looking into the nursery as there pagers beeped and they left "oh you are really cute" I said as I looked over at o e of the babies that didn't look right and he was crying.
I went in to see I'd he was okay "oh its okay" I said as he was calming down as I listen to his chest as the doctor walked in " What are you doing in here?" She asked as I looked up at her "There were no tests ordered, and the baby has a murmur" I said as i looked at her "l know" she said as I looked at his chart "He turned blue" I said as she began to snap at me "You're not authorized to be in here. Do you know how much trouble you can get into?" She snapped as I looked over at her "Are you going to do any tests?" I asked as she looked over at me " lt's a benign systolic ejection murmur. lt goes away with age" she snapped as she opend the door "You're not gonna do tests?" I asked for the third time "He's not your patient. He's not even on your service" she said as I left.
As I walked down the hallway I found Dr Burke "Dr. Burke? There's a baby up in Peds. l saw him have a tet spell, and l think l hear a murmur" I said as he hummed "Did Peds call us for a consult?" He asked as I shook my head following him down the hallway "No, they're not" I replied as he went down the stairs " So, you want me to what?" He asked as Contined to follow him "I lf you could just go up and look at him" I asked as turned around after standing of the last step "Not without a Peds consult l'm a busy man, Specter, and there are rules. Look, it's not like l'm the chief or something" he said as he walked away leaving me stand there.
I made my way to find Alex and Christina who were in the basement with Izzie as Meredith came in with the box thet she had been carrying around all day "police can't send a crime-scene guy down for hours, so l have to spend the night with the penis" she said as she turned to looked d at Alex "Alex, don't say it" she said as Alex poped a crisps in his mouth " lt was too easy, anyway" he said I walked in "there's a baby peads and he has a heart murmur, I spoke to Dr Burke and he's not gonna do anything" I said as I sat down.
George came in and plonked himself down "Who here feels like they have no idea what they're doing?" Asked George as we all put our hands up "Are we supposed to be learning something? l don't feel like l'm learning anything" he said as looked over at him "Except how not to sleep lt's like there's this wall" I said as Alex tapped me on the left for comfort "The attendings and the residents are over there being surgeons, and we're over here being Suturing, code-running, lab-delivering penis minders l hate being an intern" said Izzie as there pagers beeped.
I went to the nursery where I saw the parents looking at him as I wandered over "Hi" I said as they looked over at me "Hi" they said " ls he yours?" I asked as they nodded "yeah" thry said as stood there "He's adorable" I said as the looked over "Thanks" thry said as began to tell them my concern as the doctor was looking over at us as we were talking "oh please. You are so out of line" said the as the female inturn.
the parents looked at me "She says the murmur might not be benign" said the father as "l think we should do an echo to check" I said as she went to check on some more babies "This is your career" she said as she came back later with a doctor as I was talking to the parents "There really is no reason to get alarmed" I said as a male doctor came out of the room.
"What's the problem?" he asked as the father went to ospeakvto him "lf our baby is sick, we want him treated. Now." he said as the other doctor was confused "Who said your baby was sick?" the doctor asked as the female Inturn interrupted " The surgical intern, who has no business on our service" she snapped as folded my arms "Who authorized you?" asked the doctor as I tried to explain "l was just" I muttered as Dr Burke walked down the hallway "l did" he said as henmadenhisnway over to talk to us.
"Can you excuse us for a second?" dr Burke said to the parents "Dr.Burke" said Dr Roy as I folded my arms "Are you messing with my intern, Dr.kay?" Dr Burke asked when Dr kay shook his head "No, sir" he repiled as Dr Burke took the babies chart off him."There's nothing wrong with him. l checked" said the female inturn as she was confident that there was nothing wrong "Are you sure?" Dr Kay asked as she was sure. "You can guarantee he's fine? You're 1 00 percent sure?" Dr Burke asked as Dr kay turned to her " How sure are you? - l don't know, 75 percent?" she said as stood there in silence " Not good enough. He's my patient now.That OK with you, Dr.Kay?" he asked as he nodded "Absolutely" he repiled. Dr Burke headed to explain as he went to the parents. "Mr.and Mrs.Johnson, l'm Dr.Burke, head of Cardio We're going to run some tests and give you an answer within the hour" he said as they thanked him "Specter" he said as he nodded at the parents "Yes, Dr.Burke" I repiled as l want an EKG, chest x-ray and an echo.l don't have all day" he said as I smiled " You're a busy man" I said as he smiled at me "l'm a busy man" he said as I went to order what we needed.
an hour later I saw dr Burke I the corridor as caught up to him "Well?" I asked as I waited for a repiled "lt's a birth defect.Tetralogy of Fallot with pulmonary atresia.You were right. l'm booking the OR for tomorrow" he said as I nodded"Thank you for backing me up on this" I said as he looked at me "Whoa. WaitYou were right, but if you ever pull a stunt like that again, going to the parents behind a doctor's back, trying to steal a patient from another service, l will make your residency here hell on Earth" he said as he walked away.
I went and found an on on-call room to have a sleep when I got a shock of man who was getting dressed "oh im so sorry" I said as he looked up at me a man with black hair and green eyes who was putting on his scrub top "dont worry about it" he said as I nodded "I'm Rosie Specter" i said as I held out my hand for him to shake "Dr Sam Flowers" he said as he shook my hand as he turned to me as he was about to leave "it was nice to meet you Rosie Specter" he said as he left.
After an hour nap I woke up to my pager beeping it was dr Burke who wanted me in on the surgery as I grabbed a gown and mask and ran in "We'll use a median approach for a transventricular repair with a right ventriculotomy. Let's open him up. OK. Fifteen blade, please" said Burke as I stood there watching "Specter?" said Dr Burke "Yes, sir?" I said as he smiled Go scrub in. When we're finished cracking the baby's chest, l'll let you hold the clamp" he said as I smilednbrhind ,you mask "Seriously?" I asked as I was happy "Don't make me change my mind" he said as I got ready to go "l'm going" I said as I scrubbed in and we fixed the babies heart.
I was ready to leave to catch up with the others as I bumped into someone knocking the files out of there hands "I'm sorry" I siad as I looked up at him "twice in one day Specter. I'm being to think you like to follow me around" he said as looked up at him "No. I didn't know it was you" I said as I picked up the flies and gave them back to him as I saw Christna and George along with Izzie walking through the car park and Meredith had seen what had happened as we walked out together.
Boundaries don't keep other people out. They fence you in. Life is messy. That's how we're made. So, you can waste your life, drawing lines, Or, you can live your life crossing them.
