Late for Class

Teddy Lupin stirred in his dorm room as the bright light pierced through the window. He squinted and slowly opened his eyes. The sixteen-year-old sat up in his bed and let out a large yawn. He glanced over at the window and the sun greeted him warmly. "Good morning to you too." He grinned at it playfully. He looked around his dorm room and saw it was empty; everyone else's beds were made. "Early risers." Teddy rolled his eyes as he got out of bed.

He looked at a small mirror and saw his hair was brown. He closed his eyes and concentrated on his appearance. When he opened his eyes again, his hair transformed from brown to a bright turquoise color. "There you are." Teddy laughed.

Next to the mirror there was a calendar. Today's date was circled in red: DADA EXAM TODAY. Underneath the calendar dates were small, circular symbols colored in unique ways. They were used to track the moon phases. Today's symbol was a full, white circle. A full moon. "I'm glad I don't have to worry about that. I don't know how you did it, Dad," Teddy thought out loud. His father, Remus Lupin, became a werewolf when he was just five years old. Harry told him that Remus was scared that he would have given the same condition to his son but, thankfully, Teddy was not a werewolf, despite what the tabloids said.

Teddy put on his school uniform and tied his yellow and black tie. What he didn't pay attention to was the time. When he checked the watch Harry had given him on his birthday his heart started beating fast. He was two hours late! He missed Potions for sure, but Defense Against the Dark Arts was starting soon. "THE EXAM!" He shrieked as he darted out of the dorm.

The sun shimmered on him every time he passed a stained glass window in the corridors. When he raced out into one of the courtyards, he could feel a light breeze brushing against his hair and face. It was a beautiful day, but he had no time to stop and enjoy it. The large clock tower began to chime. "How could I have overslept that much?" Teddy grumbled to himself as he broke into a sprint. He could hear some of the students giggling as he raced past them. He remembered that he was Head Boy for a moment, but quickly shook the thought away. He didn't want to stress himself out any more before he had to take a test.

By the final chime, Teddy was one foot into his classroom. Breathless, he sank into his seat and waited for the professor to enter the classroom. Oddly, when the professor's office door swung open, it was not their normal teacher. "Good morning, class." A familiar face smiled and green eyes glistened behind rounded glasses. Harry, Teddy thought as he started to catch his breath. Harry turned to look out the large classroom windows. "It's a beautiful day, isn't it? Once you finish the exam, you are welcome to leave and enjoy the day."

Harry went through the exam directions and distributed the test. He glanced down at his godson and raised a dubious eyebrow. "Uh, Mr. Lupin?"

Teddy raised his head to look up. "Yes, erm, Mr. Potter?" Teddy awkwardly responded formally.

"Where are your shoes?"
