So, what do you think of Laramie so far, Naomi?; Daisy asked as she put up the team and buck-board next to Laramie's General Store. It's a fine looking little town, Daisy; Naomi

said appreciatively. A lot cleaner than some I've been through; she added. It has the look of a town where the riff-raff and owl-hoots aren't allowed to run everything; Naomi said

approvingly. You must have a good sheriff here in Laramie, Daisy; Naomi said as she climbed down from the buck-board. Oh, yes; said Daisy, Mort Cory's a fine man and a good friend

of ours, Naomi; Daisy said. I imagine we'll probably run into him today before too long, Naomi; Daisy added. And he tells exciting stories, too; Mike joined in. Oh he does, does he, Mike?;

Naomi said as they walked into the store. Sure he does, Naomi; Mike said as he headed for the section the dime novels were in. Now, Daisy, Naomi asked with seriousness; How many things will I

be needing exactly? Well, Naomi, you'll be needing material for undergarments, you'll need three dresses for everyday, one for work, and one or two for church and special occasions; Daisy said

helpfully. And you'll need night-clothes and a riding outfit as well; Daisy added. Alright, Daisy, thank you for the advice; Naomi said gratefully. The clerk over there should be able to help you

find what you need, Naomi. Come and join Mike and I when you're through; Daisy said as she turned to go about her shopping. I will, Daisy; Naomi said as she turned in the direction of the

dry- goods clerk. How can I help you, ma'am?; he asked when he saw he had a customer. I'm in need of some fabric for ladies undergarments, and also any ready-made dresses for

everyday and special occasions; Naomi said in her best grown up voice. And I'm also in need of a ladies' riding outfit as well; she added. I think I have just the thing, ma'am; the clerk

said helpfully. This fine quality white cotton will do nicely for your, um, un-mentionables, miss; said the clerk awkwardly. And I have a ladies riding outfit that happens to be just your size, miss;

added the clerk helpfully. I'll take them and thank you; Naomi said smiling. Now about these dresses; Naomi said as she turned to the rack where they were kept. I have just the colors that

will suit your black hair and blue eyes, miss; said the clerk. What type of dresses did you say you wanted, miss?; asked the clerk with a smile. I need three for everyday, and at least two for

special occasions and church; Naomi replied. Here are three I believe you'll like, miss; said the clerk as he brought out a blue- and -white - checkered dress, another with yellow - and - pink-

flower- print on it, and lastly one with red flowers on a blue background. These are the everyday ones you asked for, miss; said the clerk helpfully. They're lovely; Naomi said smiling.

I'll take them; she said. And here are two for special occasions that will just suit you, miss; said the clerk with a smile as he pulled first a pink dress with white trim, and then a yellow dress with a jacket,

and also a blue dress with a spray of pink flowers. They're perfect, I'll take them; Naomi said as she reached for her purse. Here you are, sir; Naomi said as the clerk wrapped up her packages.

Thank you for your business, miss, do come back again; said the clerk, smiling. Oh, I will, and thank you; Naomi said as she gathered up her packages and walked over to where Daisy and Mike were standing.
