Mario covered his eyes. It somehow got even DARKER than before.
Extinction meets your fate
All the same
Run and hide all you might
Judgement still lives
Isaac's laughing didn't really help Mario.
And the wrath will be brought down
By our Inverse lord!
A blue flame engulfed Shido to revive him. Right. Efreet was still lurking. He opened his eyes to see pure darkness.
"What in the world...?" He got up to see Mario standing there, fists clenched, not moving an inch.
And then he turned to the main problem.
There was Tohka, with a completely different outfit change. Darker than her normal dark purple... And soulless darker eyes.
Mario turned his attention to Tohka's Sandalphon... And it was darker and glowing a menacing crimson.
"Is that-a even Tohka at this point...?! That's... a terrifying gaze..."
And so, Tohka spoke.
"What is this place?"
Everyone flinched. Then Tohka pointed Sandalphon at Miku. "You. Answer."
"E-eh? W-well... Isn't this the Japan branch of DEM Industries...?"
"I've never heard of it. Besides, why am I here?"
Mario spoke up. "You were-a taken by this Wizard." He pointed his thumb at Ellen. Apparently he knows a lot despite being unconscious.
And then, the main antagonist spoke up. Isaac. "Excellent. I've never seen such an amazing inversion."
Everyone, including Tohka, turned their eyes to Isaac.
He continued. "Look, Ellen. Our dearest wish is right in front of us. Now, it's time to work. Finally, a worthy opponent. It's time for you to take the head of the Demon King and build our glorious path!"
"Yes, yes." Ellen nodded. "I understand."
She gripped her sword and flew right at Tohka.
Her slicing was nothing compared to Tohka's shield, as she just stood there. Ellen tried to swing again, but the shield wasn't even scratched.
She flew up again.
"Ellen!" Mario was worried for once. "This is a REALLY bad idea!"
Ellen fired a laser beam despite Mario's warning and blew a hole in the roof. The yellow was so dazzling and tall, it could send the moon running.
...
Everything went silent.
Surely that got her.
And the-
"I see."
...she spoke up. "I suppose you're not all talk."
She raised Sandalphon.
"I won't let you!" Ellen yelled as she charged in. She swung her light sword only to be countered by Tohka's HAND.
"...Nahemoth." Tohka chanted.
Ellen realised this and flew back down, but not before Tohka swung her sword to send a huge beam towards Ellen. The impact of the blast caused the whole building to erupt in purple.
Mario and Shido were shielding their eyes while Miku stood up and used her spirit voice to drive the dust away.
"T-thanks Miku." Shido panted.
"Y-you're welcome..." She admitted... right back into tsundere mode. "But it wasn't for you two! I was just protecting myself!"
They all then looked up at Tohka. Mario winced. "That's not-a Tohka..."
A pile of rubble vibrated then was blasted away by Ellen's Territory, shielding Isaac.
"Thanks, Ellen." Isaac dusted himself off.
"No problem. We can't have you dying right now."
"So, what do you think of Princess?"
"She's way above her previous strength. I would even say she's triple A rank levels of threat."
"Oooh! Interesting! So, do you think you can win?"
"Of course. Nothing that breathes on this earth can beat me... if I'm at my best that is." Ellen's bloody wound across her stomach was showing. "I was distracted earlier from defending and then I got injured."
Mario swallowed his nervous saliva.
Ellen continued. "I'm still working on my pain tolerance. I'm at a disadvantage against that Spirit."
Isaac grinned. "I see. Then let us retreat for now. We still have plenty of time."
"Is that okay?"
"Yes. I'm used to waiting. It's good enough that we drew out Princess' inversion. Besides, we even ran into him." He looked at Mario and then spoke again. "I'm sure we'll meet again!... if you survive. Izayoi Miku. 'Super' Mario... Takamiy-No... Itsuka Shido."
Shido stepped forward. "Do you know who I am?!"
"Oh, no. I haven't the foggiest idea. Not about SHIDO ITSUKA anyway." A green orbit... orbited them and then they were gone."
"HEY!" Shido yelled. Unfortunately, that yelling came with...
"Next up, you three dolts."
Tohka looked down on Miku, Shido and Mario. She floated down to ground level.
Miku had enough. "Okay! That's it! I thought you all were friends? And now she's super strong and didn't NEED our help to save her? What's going on?"
Shido gulped. "I don't know."
"Besides, didn't you get stabbed in the chest? How are you still alive?!"
"It's complicated, to say the least..."
Mario looked at Tohka to see she just swung her sword at them, causing another purple wave ."LOOK OUT!"
Kaboom!
...Luckily, they were SHIELDED, by the very SWORD that Shido used to save the Yamai. Sandalphon.
Tohka looked at it. "It is Sandalphon. Why do you have that angel?"
Now it's time for step two. Intense recollecting. Shido yelled. "Tohka! What happened to you?! Don't you remember me? Or Mario?!"
"Tohka?" She glared. "Do you refer to me?"
He gasped. Just when he was about to make a comeback, Kotori finally responded. "Shido! Are you in there?!"
"Kotori!"
"Thanks to the building being gone, the jammed communication is no longer an issue. BUT WHAT IN THE WORLD HAPPENED?!"
"I don't know! Mario flew in before we went in, I got stabbed, and now everything is dark! Is it because of the reverse flow of energy? Can she even be sealed?!"
"Regardless! It's impossible to seal her at THIS state. They're all negative."
"THEN WHAT SHOULD I DO?!"
"Make Tohka remember who you are again. If that's even humanly possible, then her happiness levels should go back to normal."
Shido sweats and started to go forward. "Come on, Tohka. Let's go home. If you say sorry right now, I'll make your favorite foods for breakfast, lunch AND dinner!"
"What are you saying?" She raised her sword.
Shido had just about enough and charged in. Tohka easily swept him back with a simple blast.
Mario charged in and attempted to do a classic stomp on Tohka. Of course, a shield was blocking her, so Mario jumped down and attempted to swing his hammer. Tohka countered it with her sword and launched Mario back with a swipe.
"You two are so annoying." Miku folded her arms while the duo were on the ground, groaning. Miku sighed. "I'll take care of this myself. Gabriel!"
Mini pipes surrounded Tohka. Miku glared at them. "I want you to do your thing while I restrain her. You only got one chance."
Shido nodded. A pipe emerged in front of Miku as she prepared herself.
And then she sang.
"HAAAAAAAAAAH!"
Purple waves were restraining Tohka. She had an unamused look. "How pitiful."
...And then she broke through the pipes. Mario gasped. Miku tried to sing again... but no voice squeaked out. She was too in fear. Regardless, she did the impossible-Hide behind Shido while Tohka prepared a massive attack.
Mario covered his eyes. "There's-a no way! We're doomed!"
And then the blast hit. Mario was sent FLYING into the atmosphere.
...Yoshino blinked. "Huh? What happened?"
She was currently piloting Zadkiel who spoke. "Oh? Yoshino, do you know what's going on?"
"You don't know either?"
"Straaaange. I feel as if my power is being sucked away."
They flew across the city, only to be confronted by some DEM wizards.
"Stop them!"
A blast of wind sent them away.
Of course, the Yamai. One of them spoke up.
"Nyah hah! That was nothing! THIS is what they mean by 'blown away'!"
"Question: Is this a serious matter? Yoshino? Yoshinon?"
"Kaguya! Yuzuru!"
Kaguya looked at Yuzuru. "But where in the world are we?"
Then, at the speed of sound, Origami rushed in because of her vengenance for Spirits. Kaguya cut in with a wind swipe. Origami tumbled in mid-air and landed in Yuzuru's arms.
"Master Origami, what is this?"
"Shido..."
"WAAAAAAAAAH!" Mario flailed his arms, rolling in midair. This kind of drop would be brutal.
"I'm gonna die! I AM GOING TO DIE! LUIGI! HELP-!"
During his flailing arms, he caught something! The little something staggered a bit, but still managed to be sturdy.
Mario closed his eyes during his fall... But opened it up once he realised he was grabbing something.
He looked at the something. He was grabbing a hand. But not a hand he recognised.
Wait, no, he recognised it. A white glove hand...
He looked further...
A white glove hand...
A pink dress...
Blonde hair...
Blue eyes...
And a crown on her head.
"P...PRINCESS?!" Mario couldn't believe it!
This was none other.. than Princess Peach.
"Shhh. It's fine, Mario. I'm saving you this time."
She hovered over the broken skyscraper which Mario landed on.
Shido turned. "Oh, Mario. You're still alive." An icicle shield was surrounding Shido.
"Yeeeeah!" Mario cheered as he held out his hand for Peach to take as she landed on the ground.
Miku gasped internally. "Ohmigosh! She's so adorable! Who is-"
"Mario..." Tohka groaned... "Do I... know that name?"
Mario tried a different tactic. He grinned, punching his fists together.
"Yeah. It's-a-me, Mario."
Tohka flew up. "There's MORE of you. I suppose I should wipe you all out. This is farewell."
She then swiped another devastating sword swipe.
Mario grinned. "This will be easy."
He dodged out of the way and so did everyone else.
"Phew! We made it!"
...Then Mario looked at the back. The building was cut clean open... And a giant slice was through the entire city. "Holy!"
He turned to the gap. Shido was gone.
"Hahaha... Yes... YES!" Tohka celebrated. "Finally, that wretched human is gone!"
"Gh..." Mario covered his sweaty forehead. "Were we too late?"
And then a perky young voice spoke up. "Nyah hah... If you were thinking you could stand against the hurricane children any longer, you're wrong!"
It was Kaguya. Right behind her was Yuzuru, who were both lifting Shido high up in the air with their wind magic. "Question: What happened, Tohka?"
Peach's mouth gaped, but Mario reassured her with a quick "i can explain later" gist.
Mario gave a thumbs up. "Thanks-a for saving him! But now..."
Shido looked down as he was above Tohka. "Yeah... Her... Don't worry. I have a plan."
And he just swooped down.
"Ah.. Wait... This feels familiar..."
Back then.
He was falling down from the sky on their first date.
Tohka's eyes widened. She remembered too.
And then Shido did a sealing kiss.
Everyone cheered! They threw their arms into the air... except Peach, because she has no idea what's going on.
Shido and Tohka landed on the rooftop. Mario held Peach's hand and jumped up to the roof.
"Hah hah!" He laughed. Everyone was on the roof, watching the sunset.
"Right!" Miku clapped her hands together. "If you would like to come with me..." She pointed at Shido.
"W-who? Me?"
"Yes! Come on!" She grabbed Shido's arm and tugged him along, Tohka giving chase.
That just left Mario and Peach, watching the sunset as they held hands together.
"Well, Princess... Welcome to another world."
"Mario... I'm so glad you're safe."
"You think you're-a glad? I'm relieved! Hah hah!" He chuckled.
"Now, let me tell you about what's-a new..."
And so, Peach prepared herself to get caught up in the plot.
Kurumi was on the ground level of the ruined city. "Oh, that's no good. That industry didn't house that certain person. Oh where oh where could the captive Spirit be?" She danced along into the darkness.
She's on her quest.
