Okay, I messed up. Apparently, angels do have a digestive system. After re-watching the series, I realized that Vaggie had to use the bathroom in episode 6 to avoid testifying. Or it could have been just a joke. You never know.
I want to thank everybody for adding this story to their follows and favorites. I wasn't expecting so many readers to love my story. I'll try to at least update weekly. The next few chapters may be short, but hopefully will be pleasant.
It was morning, or what could pass for it in Hell. They didn't exactly have sunshine, but the imitation stars in the sky were gone. And even in Hell, it seemed that rush hour was beginning as the Imp, Succubi, and whatever Sinner populations got ready for the day.
In the royal palace, Charlie Morningstar was sleeping in the armchair her father provided last night. All the information crammed into her head along with the decision to become a single mom wiped her out. She was sleeping sideways across the chair, her blonde hair reaching the floor next to a small puddle of drool that was leaking from her snoring mouth.
That's how Lucifer found his daughter.
He decided to avoid his rubber duck building hobby for the morning and decided to check on Charlie and her new project. Last night, he finished his surprise and decided to leave his sleeping daughter in the parlor. It looked like she placed Harry back into the crib before sleeping herself. Though he couldn't help but grin at her snoring.
He stepped beside her and shook her shoulder. "Hey, kiddo. It's time to get up."
Charlie snorted loudly and looked around with crusty eyes. "What? Dad, what are you doing in my apartment?" But she straightened up and looked around. "Oh, right."
"Yep. You're back in my house with a bouncing baby boy."
Charlie got up quickly and went to the crib. She smiled brightly when she saw Harry sleeping with his pet cat nearby. His little chest slowly rising with his breathing. One of Charlie's old toys, a worn-looking hellhound, was snuggled in his arms.
"Oh, look at him. A perfect little angel," she said in a small voice. She missed Lucifer roll his eyes.
"For now, anyway," he muttered.
"I just want to pick him up and squeeze him." Charlie reached down and went to grab him but stopped when her dad grabbed her arm. "What's wrong?"
"Rule number 1: Never wake a sleeping baby."
"Why?"
"Trust me. Give it a few days and you'll be begging for that kid to take a nap."
Charlie looked confused but decided to listen to her father's advice for the time being. "All right, then."
"Good. Now I'm guessing after all the excitement last night you've decided to stay for the time being."
"If that's okay," she said nervously, brushing her hair back.
"It is," Lucifer smiled. He turned and walked out of the parlor. "And I've prepared a little surprise for you."
Trusting Harry will be alright for a few moments, Charlie followed her dad through the manor. She smiled a little when the stopped by her old room. When she opened the door, she wasn't surprised to see everything was there since she was last living there. There wasn't even a speck of dust.
"Thanks, dad. It's just like I left it."
"Oh that's not the surprise," Lucifer answered as he pointed to the room across from her door.
Charlie frowned slightly. That room was empty. It had been all her life. Wondering what her father was offering, she opened the door. What she saw made her squeal loudly in excitement.
The bright room was painted a soft blue with a window that displayed the less evil parts of hell. A new, red carpet covered the floor, softer than the one in the hallway. In one corner was a much more stylish and comfortable crib with polished, wooden handrails. A mobile with apples, snakes, and dancing imps circled overhead. On the wall beside was 'Harry' in bright, colorful letters.
Underneath the window was what looked like a wooden cabinet with a soft-padded pillow on top of it. A weird trashcan was beside it. Next to it was dresser with slightly opened drawers to display new clothes for Harry's size.
Opposite wall of the crib was lined with stuffed toys, wooden blocks, and large, colorful books for Charlie to read to Harry. There were also large, soft puzzle pieces for Harry to try and put together.
In the center of the room was a comfortable rocking chair.
"I guess this is what human children like. I created it after Harry's room in the mortal realm. If you want to change anything-"
Lucifer was cut off as Charlie hugged him tightly.
"It's perfect, dad. Absolutely perfect," Charlie whispered. Tears were slowly leaking down her eyes.
Lucifer smiled as he hugged Charlie. It had been a long time since she hugged him like this. He missed it so much.
"Only the best. If there is anything you want me to change, just let me know."
"I will."
A moment later, a crying noise echoed faintly down the hallway.
"And you might just have to use that new changing table," Lucifer grinned mischievously.
"Changing table?"
Lucifer pointed at the cabinet with the pillow on top. "That. Diapers, wipes, and lotion should be in the drawers. Good luck with that."
"Yay," Charlie said quietly.
Charlie walked back into the parlor to see Harry standing against the rails of the crib. He had quieted down but had a look of distress on his face. His cat was sitting up beside him.
"Hey, little guy. What's wrong?"
"Ba,ba," said Harry.
Charlie, surprised Harry could somewhat speak, picked Harry up and held him against her chest. "Baba, huh. What's that?"
"Ba,ba."
Taking a deep breath, Charlie pulled Harry's diaper away and checked. She breathed a sigh of relief when he was clean.
"Thank Hell," she whispered.
"Baba!" Harry insisted.
"Baba? Oh. Bottle!"
Of course, Harry was hungry. He hadn't been fed since last night. She carried him out of the parlor and made her way to the kitchens. She went through the swinging doors and met the imps who oversaw cooking.
"Welcome back, Princess Charlie," said the head cook.
"Thank you, Letzi," said Charlie. She sat down and leaned Harry on her hip. "I was hoping to get Harry something to eat."
"Ah, this is the new prince Lucifer told us about this morning," said Letzi. He walked from the stove and gazed at Harry. "The new human prince."
"Yeah, that's right," said Charlie. "I hope it's not a problem."
"I'm not one to argue with King Lucifer, princess," said Letzi. "Besides, I'm not the one taking care of him."
"Right," said Charlie quietly. "Speaking of which…"
"Ba, ba," said Harry.
"I see. Follow me. You can place the boy there," said Letzi, pointing to a highchair Charlie didn't noticed. She placed him in it, careful to maneuver his legs into the holes.
"What is it?" Charlie asked.
"Feeding time," said Letzi. He motioned to the sink where several sippy cups, child silverware and plates were. "I assume the boy has some of his teeth."
"Umm…" Charlie said awkwardly.
"Nevertheless, we have the cupboard stocked with jars of baby food that should be safe for a human baby. The fridge is filled with soft foods a toddler could eat, cow's milk, clean water, and of course, apple juice."
"Oh. Let's start with that," Charlie said eagerly.
Letzi shrugged and handed the princess a clean sippy cup. Charlie pulled the juice from the fridge and carefully poured it into the cup. Then she handed it to Harry after snapping a lid on top.
"Here you go, Harry," she said.
Harry took it and immediately started drinking, nearly pulling it from her hands. Charlie was surprised the strength the boy held and the fact he could drink without help.
"Wow. He can already drink on his own," she said.
"Toddlers his age usually can," said Letzi.
"Do you have kids?" asked Charlie.
"I had two,"" Letzi said in a finally tone. He picked up a tray with breakfast and headed towards Lucifer's office.
Charlie wanted to know more, but the tone the cook used did not inspire more questions. While Harry drank, she went to the cupboards and gazed at the food selection. Jars with several different types of mushed up fruits and vegetables lined the shelves. She selected carrots on a whim. Then prepared them in a bowl with a soft spoon.
"Here you go," Charlie said, placing the bowl on Harry's highchair. She scooped up the carrots and brought them to Harry's lips. "Here comes the dragon ready to eat."
Harry swallowed the carrots and chomped with his mouth open. A bead of orange drool rolled down the corner of his mouth.
"Making a mess already?" Charlie smiled and wiped his mouth with a napkin.
"Hehehe," Harry gurgled.
"Here comes the dragon again."
Charlie spooned more carrots and fed Harry again. But she was surprised when Harry grabbed the spoon after he swallowed. Harry then clumsily spooned his own carrots and ate himself.
"And you know how to use silverware. You are such a smart boy." Charlie smiled brightly as Harry tried three times to get the spoon into his mouth. "But you do need to work on your technique."
Harry burped, carrot juice bubbling down his chin.
"And your manners."
Last night.
"Where is he?" growled Sirius Black. The man was barely holding his composure after seeing the bodies of his best friend and his wife. He knew the reason for their deaths. The little rat who betrayed them was probably on the run. He had to get on his trail quickly to make him pay for this treachery.
But not before finding out where Harry is.
"I don' know," said the very, very large man who was squeezed in the hallway. Rubeus Hagrid arrived only minutes before Sirius. His eyes were wet after seeing the state James and Lily were in, but immediately started his search for little Harry. "He just ain't here."
"Could one of the neighbors picked him up?" asked Sirius.
"Might be. But the alarms Dumbledore placed on the house went off and I arrived within about five minutes. I didn't see nobody."
Sirius really wanted to change into a dog and see if Harry left a scent trail. But his secret was still kept with his circle of friends and he still had not registered with the Ministry to be an Animagus. He couldn't afford to get in trouble now. Not with Peter and Harry missing.
"Sirius, we need to get outta here. Them muggle pleaseman might be here soon. We can't get caught."
"Harry is still missing!" Sirius argued.
"I know, Sirius. But we can't do any more," Hagrid reasoned.
Sirius growled. He knew Hagrid was right. Maybe the muggles will have better luck than them.
"Dammit." He pushed past Hagrid and made his way outside. Hagrid's footsteps thumped loudly behind him. Sirius stopped besides James' body and closed the man's eyes. "I'm sorry, Prongs."
"Sirius."
"I'm coming." The duo went outside and gathered around the motorcycle. "Where are you going now?"
"I gotta report to Dumbledore. Tell him what happened," said Hagrid. He pulled out a tent-sized handkerchief and wiped his eyes.
"Here. Take my bike," Sirius offered. "Should be better than any portkey you have."
Hagrid looked shocked. "But you love that bike."
"Yeah. But I don't think I need it anymore."
Sirius turned on the spot and apparated away before Hagrid could say anything else. Hagrid stared, wondering what Sirius meant. He only snapped out of it when her heard sirens in the distance. Hagrid saw flashing red lights down the street.
"Dammit." Hagrid stepped over the bike and kick started it. It roared to life. Hagrid rode down the street. And then into the sky.
Now.
Professor Minerva McGonagall had been sitting for only a few hours on the garden wall at when a flash of fire interrupted her stalking.
"Mrreooow!" she shrieked. Well, in cat form.
Since the morning began, she was watching the family at Number 4 Privet Drive and observing their behaviors. She wasn't impressed. The man had tried shooing her earlier after praising his screaming son for being a rambunctious tyke. The woman had been cleaning up the boy's mess and later spying on her neighbors while seemingly doing household chores. When they left the house five minutes ago, the boy was screaming for sugar as he kicked his mother.
McGonagall's mind had been buzzing all morning. Before she arrived, she had been hearing all sorts of rumors about You-Know-Who and the Potters all morning. She didn't know what to believe. And after seeing so many owls flying in the sky, she was worried that the rumors might be true.
But then there was a flash of fire and a red-gold feather was dropped in front of her.
McGonagall suddenly realized this was a message from Dumbledore. She checked around for any staring muggles, then transformed back to human and apparated to Hogsmeade. It was the closest she could get to Hogwarts without hitting the wards. She hurried back to the castle and up to Dumbledore's office.
"Jelly beans," she said to the gargoyle. It moved aside, allowing her to walk upstairs. When she arrived, she saw Hagrid was there with Dumbledore behind his desk, looking solemn. "What's wrong?"
"I'm afraid James and Lily are dead," Dumbledore explained. McGonagall gasped and Hagrid let loose more tears to stain his wet beard.
"How? I thought they were protected?" McGonagall whispered.
"It seems they placed their trust in the wrong individual to keep a secret."
"The Fidelius Charm? Who was the secret keeper?"
"I casted the charm myself but did not select the individual. I don't know who it could be."
"Was it Sirius Black?"
"Probably not," sniffed Hagrid. "He arriv'd there only moments after I did. I never seen him so angry. Especially with little Harry missing."
"Harry Potter? He is missing?" asked McGonagall.
"Rubeus and Sirius could not find Harry anywhere. Neither his body nor Voldemort's." McGonagall and Hagrid shivered at the name. "They had to leave before they were discovered."
There was a moment of silence as the news sunk in. McGonagall wiped her eyes, mourning her favorite students and the son she hoped to teach one day.
"What now?" asked Hagrid.
Before anyone could answer, the fireplace roared to life with green fire. A voice echoed within.
"Sirius Black has just been arrested for murdering Peter Pettigrew and a dozen muggles!"
"Hehehehe," Harry giggled as he flung his carrots with his spoon.
"Harry!" squealed Charlie as he got carrots on her jacket. "Quit playing with your food."
Short chapter. I know. I'll upload the new one as soon as I can. I don't know how much Charlie and baby Harry I can upload. I've never raised a child so I can't be accurate. I hope everyone enjoys.
