Chapter 42

The sun was rising over Maiami City with Teppei, Michi, Mieru, Gongenzaka, Halil, Olga, and Ruri still sleeping. Yuzu stared at Phantom and every now and then she had the urge to remove him from her deck but then she would remember what Mieru said and the feeling would get buried. She released a sigh and with one last look she put him back into her extra deck and closed her eyes.

'From everything that Ruri said, did I see her memories of when Xyz's was invaded? Was that your anger? Fear? Hatred? Then what were those other images I saw.' She thought as the images that she saw before played back into her mind. She felt phantom anger when she saw the world that was divided with the people on top laughing at the people below them. She put a hand to her chest trying to understand where the anger was coming from but the only thing she could confirm was that it wasn't her anger. She thought of the throne room and felt dread come in as she remembered the golden light falling into the green machine. She shook her head to remove the image from her mind.

'Also who was that boy? And why was he crying?' She thought remembering the boy who was laughing but had tears falling down his face. She listened to the wind blow and pushed her thoughts aside since worrying won't do anything except confuse her even more. She opened her eyes with a newfound determination and stood up hoping that today will be better than yesterday. She never noticed that the other people who were with her were already awake and glad that she was okay again.

"Everyone, it's morning! It's time to- Oh you're already awake!" Yuzu said, turning around to her friends.

"I'll get breakfast started. Just give me a few minutes." Michi said, jumping up from his spot with Halil saying he can help too.

"I'll also get some water and maybe some more fish to eat as well." Teppei said. He froze when Gong also got up and started to follow him.

"What? I'm not going to run away." Teppei said.

"It's better If you weren't alone. From what Ruri said we are being invaded and that these invaders like to attack people that are alone." Gong said. Teppei's face went pale and just as fast as he was to make Gong stay he instantly ran behind him and began to push him forward saying the more the merrier. Yuzu chuckled when she saw that but when she looked at Ruri she felt sorry for her.

'What type of person was Ruri before the invasion. I know she is a kind person but now…' She thought and felt her hands clench. She walked over causing Ruri to look at her in confusion.

"Is there anything you need?" Yuzu asked. Ruri looked at her stunned but let a smile form on her face.

"I'm okay. Thank you Yuzu." She said and Yuzu returned the smile and both girls went to help Olga who was trying to wake Mieru up but failing. When Yuzu got close she heard Mieru mumble incoherently. She got closer and when Mieru mumbled again with a smile Yuzu felt something snap. She moved so quickly that everyone still to this day debate if Yuzu was trying to wake Mieru up or was she trying to commit murder.

"Delicious! Now I know why Yuya's mom wanted him to try one of your recipes!" Yuzu said with Michi smiling even wider telling everyone that they had enough for seconds. He noticed Ruri seemed to be savoring every bite she took and smiled sadly.

"You truly are a good person. The man Gongenzaka is grateful." Gong said with everyone else saying thank you to Michi.

"I'm glad you like it. Olga, Hali?" Michi said to Gong then turned to the other two causing Halil to stop staring at the pot in anticipation with Olga doing her best to hold him back.

"Can you two tell me what you like to eat? I would love to expand my skills and hope I can live up to your expectations." Michi asked them.

" Of co-"

"The power of friendship is amazing!" Halil interrupted Olga as he ran up to Michi and took both his hands. After a few seconds of silence everyone busted out laughing and the tension that had been there from yesterday was gone.

Jungle Area

With a powerful gust of wind Yuya was blown back a few feet. He glared at her with full hate and struggled to stand back up. The monster that stood behind her with Cat Dancer loomed over him. He felt his rage go up more and more dark aura began to form around him. With a gasp Serena raised her arm quickly and the bracelet released a bright blue light which engulfed him causing Yuya to cover his eyes. When he opened them again the anger and hatred he felt was gone. He only felt empty and then fear took over as he looked at the girl who was smiling innocently at him.

"Yuya, I know this is confusing for you but I promise everything will be fine now. No one will hurt you since me and the Professor will protect you. So will you come with me?" she asked, holding out her hand for him to take but then his pendulum released a bright light of its own, shocking Serena and then she was gone leaving him alone.

'What? It's glowing again? Does that mean Yuzu is nearby?!' Yuya thought as he looked around but then heard an engine of a vehicle and looked to his left to see a motorcycle fly into view right above him. The person looked down and was shocked to see him.

"Yugo?" She said and then came to a stop right in front of him. She removed the visor covering her vision and quickly jumped off her bike running towards him.

"Yugo!" She yelled causing Yuya to blink and then he fell over in pain holding his stomach when she kneed him.

"You idiot! Do you know how worried I was!" She said crying as Yuya struggled to get up, still holding his stomach.

"Wh-" He said but then he was pulled into a hug as the girl cried into his shoulders.

"I'm so glad you're okay. I…I… was so scared that something terrible happened to you!" She choked out. Yuya pushed her back gently saying he's not Yugo causing the girl to look at him intently. She saw Yugo standing in front of her but when she blinked she saw Yuya standing in front of her. And just like her Yuya saw Yuzu for a brief moment and then this girl.

'Why does Yuzu have three girls with the same face as her!' He thought as he looked at her.

Iceberg Area

Walking down a path Dennis was humming to himself. He saw Serena come from the portal right in front of Yuya so he left before he got involved. He then smelled something delicious and followed the smell coming across Yuzu and her friends.

"Hey! Your Yuzu Hiiragi!" Dennis said, running up to them and bowing.

"Who are you?" Yuzu asked, confused and a bit embarrassed that she was becoming famous.

"Oh! I'm Dennis Macfield! I can't believe I'm meeting another student of Yusho Sakaki!" Dennis said excitedly.

"EH?! You know Yuya's Dad?!" Yuzu said shocked, causing Ruri to look up at this information.

'He had a son?! I thought that they had the same name but didn't think they were related.' Ruri thought as she remembered the man who taught her and Sayaka to duel with smiles. She clenched her hand knowing that she was dishonoring him but she hoped he would forgive those of Xyz's since they want to live more than ever now.

"Well I am a big fan! I dueled Yuya and won but it was a very fun duel." Dennis said, causing Mieru to now take even more interest in this conversation now.

"You saw Yuya, where was he?" Yuzu asked.

"In the Volcano Area. Why?" He asked, confused.

"The Sixteen of us aren't the only ones battling in the battle royal." Gong said.

"There are others? Ah I do remember being taken away by a red ninja who wasn't in the battle royal. Is that who you are talking about?" Dennis asked when he remembered flying through the air on the shoulder of the red ninja.

"No He was sent as a bodyguard by Reiji." Ruri said, walking up to Dennis standing next to Yuzu.

"A bodyguard? Who is he protecting?" Dennis asked but was only met with silence.

"Then who are the other people you're talking about?" Dennis asked.

"You might not believe it, but there are duelists from other dimensions!" Michi said joining the conversation with everyone else standing right behind (Teppei) or next to Yuzu.

"Other dimensions? What's up with that?" Dennis said and laughed not believing everything he heard.

"It's true. My brother and I are from Xyz's, and now Fusion is here." Ruri said With Yuzu saying it's true since she saw them and among them she saw Sora as well. Dennis was shocked when he saw Ruri wondering if Yuzu was a Triplet.

"Sora? Wow! You have friends from other dimensions, that's so cool!" Dennis said with a serious face but then quickly made the conversation move on before anyone noticed his slip up. When he saw nobody noticed he released a sigh in his mind.

"I saw them defeat the Knight of Duels with my own eyes." Yuzu said.

"Communications don't work inside this field, so we can't contact the others. We were deciding what to do when you found us" Gong said.

"Wow! This is big trouble! If there is anything I can do to help let me know. I think Yuya may still be in the Volcano Area or in the Jungle Area, " Dennis said and watched as everyone decided about what to do. He then saw Mieru looking into her crystal apple and told Yuzu that her darling is in the Jungle area and left everyone behind trying to join her darling's side but also wanting to know who was the other girl that was hugging her darling. She would forgive her darling for cheating but not the girl trying to tempt him to cheat.

"I want to find my brother." Ruri said and then everyone decided that Yuzu, Gongezaka and Dennis would go find Yuya while everyone else went with Ruri to find her brother. They wished each other good luck and to be cautious since Academia could attack them at any given moment.

Jungle Area

"Who is Yugo? And who are you?" Yuya asked after Rin calmed down. Just as Rin was about to say something Yuya's pendulum began to glow, shocking both Rin and Yuya and then they were both gone. Running up to the spot Yuya and Rin just where Yuzu, Gong, Dennis, and Mieru ran up.

"What was that light!" Mieru asked, looking around.

"I don't know. Usually my bracelet would glow but this time my bracelet didn't glow. YUYA! Where are you?!" Yuzu said and then put both of her hands to her mouth and began to scream out hoping Yuya would answer.

'Did Serena complete her mission? Then utopia will be brought upon all the dimensions. All that's left is…' Dennis thought as he pretended to look around.

Ancient Ruins Area

Sora and Shun were panting as they glared at each other. On Shun's field he had five monsters while Sora had two monsters on his field.

Sora Lp: 300 Hand: 0

Shun Lp: 2100 Hand: 0

"My turn! Draw!" Sora said as he drew his card and then looked to see he drew Polymerization which caused him to smile wildly.

"Hey, Do you think you've won? How Naive!" Sora said, causing Shun to glare at him.

"I activate Fluffal Mouse's effect! When this monster is in attack position, I can Special Summon two Fluffal Mice from my deck!" Sora said, taking two cards from his deck and then placing them on his duel disk revealing two more Fluffal Mouse.

"Here I go! The fun is only getting started! I fuse Edge Imp Sabers and my three Fluffal Mice! Devil's claw and sharp fangs! Become one in the whirlpool of mystery! Show your new power and look! Fusion Summon! Appear, the magical forest beast that tears through everything! Fruitfur Tiger!" Sora said with a deranged smile as his monster appeared on his side of the field.

"Frightfur Tiger's effect activates! For every monster that was used to summon it, one of your monsters is destroyed!" Sora said, shocking Shun. The scissors that were attached to Frightfur Tigers stomach extended destroying four of Shun's monsters leaving the Xyz's monster on the field alone.

"Now the remaining Force Strix's attack points return to normal. Right?" Sora said already knowing the answer but enjoying the revenge he was finally able to have. Shun could only stand in stunned silence as his monster's attack returned to 100.

"I know they said this Shun person was in the ancient ruins area but I wish that blue ninja would have said where and his description so that we would know who we are looking for." Jim said walking up a fleet of stairs trying to find Shun. he looked behind him and saw Syrus looking at the ground completely silent.

"Everything alright mate?" Jim asked.

"There is no way that honorable warriors would card people as if this is a game. We have an honorable goal. We are not terrorists." Syrus said, trying to convince himself but Yuya's and Tsukikage's words were still playing in his head, with the terrified look of Hokuto coming into view every now and then.

"That's why we are trying to find this Shun person to better understand what is going on and then we will decide what to do after that mate." Jim said. Syrus nodded and just as they entered the ruin they saw both Sora and Shun in the middle of a duel.

"Frightfur Tiger gains 300 attack points for every Frightfur monster! This is the end! Battle, Frightfur Tiger attack Force Strix! Finish off Kurosaki who destroyed my honor, finish off the Xyz refugee!" Sora said with a deranged smile as his monster went to attack.

"Kurosaki?" Jim said and then looked at Sora's opponent and figured this was Shun. right behind him Syrus was standing in shocked silence as he watched the glee in Sora's face as he attacked. He watched Sora's monster chop Force Strix in half and the explosion from the monster Shun was blown right out the Ruin but Jim moved fast trying to save him but the momentum of the blast had him flying out of the building too. Shaking from his stunned stupor Syrus ran down the stairs to check on Jim and Shun who were struggling to get up.

"You're badly hurt mate." Jim said when he saw Shun grab at his chest. Looking up at the new voice Shun almost felt his breath hitch. He had two Academia surrounding him.

"Get…aw…ay…from…me…" he panted out but he doubled over in pain from the blast of his destroyed monster.

"Haha. I win this time, Kurosaki. Wait you're-"

"Go Glacial Beast Iceberg Narwal!"

"You too Fire Jinn the Fire Genie of the Lamp!" Olga and Halil yelled as they interrupted Sora forcing him to dodge backwards as Ruri went to check on her brother.

"Nii-san…" She said, She looked at Jim and Syrus and almost pulled out her duel disk when Jim said that instead of fighting they should leave. With a bit of reluctance Ruri picked Shun up with the help of Michi and began to leave.

"Wait! Kurosaki is my prey! You can't leave!" Sora yelled but both Olga and Halil blocked his path.

"Hurry and get somewhere safe!" Olga said as Halil said that with the power of friendship they will stop Sora. Nodding, Ruri's group left with Jim and Syrus right behind them.

"HOW DARE YOU GET IN MY WAY!" Sora yelled at Olga and Halil, activating his duel disk in rage. They drew five cards from their decks and glared at Sora knowing that they needed to pull out all the stops if they wanted to protect their world and loved ones.

"Duel!" All three yelled. Down the road as they carried Shun away everyone could hear the destruction and only kept moving forward trying to hold back their tears as they got further away from their friends that were buying them time.

'I was wrong. They truly were fit to be lancers. I won't let your sacrifice be in vain.' Ruri thought as everyone else debated where they should go.
