A/N: I haven't wrote my other fanfic because I was busy writing this one. I just got a random idea and I rolled with it.

I don't own KonoSuba: God's Blessings to this Wonderful World. Credits go to the original author,

Today is the usual day here. Nothing particular to do apart from guiding the souls of the deceased. But since I already met my quota for today, I can just sit back here, munch some chips and maybe play a video game.

Y'know what, that's a good idea. What game should I play today? I heard there's a DLC of Elden Ring.

As I was about to stand up, a light descended in this empty space, revealing a kid of about 12 years or so.

The kid has average looks, brown hair, and green eyes. He is currently looking around, probably in confusion.

I look at the sheet that appeared suddenly on top of my desk.

Hmmm, Kazuma Satou. I see...

"Ehem! Greetings, Kazuma Satou. Welcome to the afterlife. Your life may—"

"Whoa! So this is the afterlife! Cool! You must be a goddess right!"

"Of course I am! Fufufufu! It should be obvious from the divine aura that I am radiating! Fufufufu. Now, let me introduce myself. I am the Goddess of Waters, Aqua!"

"Oh! So you're a real goddess after all! Every god I saw in games and anime paled im comparison!"

I held my head high and puffed up my chest. Although I would like this kid to keep singing high praises of me, I need to do my job or I get yelled at.

"Now then, Kazuma Satou. Here are your options. You can either go in a heavenly place and live like a geezer, or get reincarnated and start your new life from the beginning. What do you choose?"

I showed him the choices, even if he is a kid, there's no rule I can't send someone of his age there. Considering the culture of that world, he is now nearing adulthood.

"Um, Miss Goddess, what do you mean 'in a heavenly place' and 'live like a geezer'?"

"Well, heaven isn't as great a place as you humans imagine. Since the dead don't need to eat, and nothing is ever produced in the afterlife. So even if you wanted to cook something, there will be no ingredients. And there's no TV, no manga, no video games. Just a bunch of dead people. And since you're dead, you can't even hook up with anyone! I mean, you don't really have a body, right? It's just you and a bunch of spirits sitting around sunning yourselves and making small talk for all eternity."

"What! You mean no sorts of entertainment there! Why are there no games!"

Heh, that's the reaction I want. Now for the finisher.

"You like video games, right? Well, in this world, there's apparently..."

The long and short of it was this:

There's another world, different from his own, that is home to some lowly demon who bravely called himself the Demon Lord.

The Demon Lord's invading army threatens the world. It's a place of magic and monsters—in other words, a fantasy setting pretty similar to those found in popular games in his world.

"So people who die in that world... Well, see, the majority of them were killed by the Demon Lord, right? And they don't want to go through that again. So most of them refuse to be reborn. That means fewer and fewer babies are gettting born there, and eventually the world will be ruined! So we thought... Why not send someone who died in some other world off to this one?"

Aren't I a genius? With this immigration policy, who knows maybe someone will kill the Demon Lord.

"And we figured as long as we're sending someone, it might as well be someone who died young, a blank slate. We'd send them with their body and memory intact. What's more since it would be silly to send someone over there just to die again, we decided to allow them to bring along any one thing they want. A powerful special ability, an incredible talent... Some people choose a legendary weapon... So how about it? You get another shot at life in a new world, and they get someone battle-ready to come to their aid. What do you think? Not bad, right?"

I looked at the kid who was thinking about it deeply.

I sat back down and continued eating my chips.

Now, since I want to play the DLC of Elden Ring next, I need to ask someone for a favor again. That game is so darn hard! Even with the best build that defeated that Rot Dancing Lady many times, I got one-shotted by the enemy!

I got passed it because I made Eris played against the bosses so I can have an easier time to play the game. They should—

"—so you mean that since this world doesn't have many babies born, you are sending others who died young there to repopulate the place. And since we are also tasked to defeat the Demon Lord, we also get a powerful ability or talent of our choice, right?"

"Yes yes, yes. That's the gist of it."

I just nodded instantly and agreed with him since I didn't catch most of his words. Eh, it's not like anything will happen.

I thrust a catalog of items to his face to hide that I didn't pay any attention to him.

"Take your pick. Any one thing. I'll give you power second to none. Look. This one's an amazing special ability. Here's a legendary sword. Come on, anything at all. Just say the word, and you can bring it with you to your new home."

I saw him picking the fallen catalog anf thumbed through the pages.

"... Super Strength... Profound Magic... Sacred Sword Arondight... Demon Blade Murasama... Heck, all of it is busted!"

I heard him exclaimed, but I just ignored him and got back to what I was planning.

Now then, where was I again? Oh yeah, it was about—

"—I choose this one!"

Oh for the love of me! At least let me think!

I suppressed a groan and look at the kid. He is holding a catalog high with excitement.

"Yes yes. What did you choose?"

"This one, Metamagic! With this, I can adjust any spells I cast!"

"Oh, that ability. It's a good one since only expert mages can adjust a spell that they are proficient with."

"Really?! Awesome!"

While the kid is enjoying himself, I recall what he said earlier.

He mentions earlier about being sent as a baby... So does that mean he wants to reincarnate there as a baby...? And then about demons... No way I'll reincarnate him as a demon... How about the Crimson Demon Clan, maybe that's what he meant. Yosh, I'll just reincarnate him as a Crimson Demon.

Now, it's time to deliver the line that I rehearsed a lot.

As I prepared it, a large glowing magic circle appeared under the kid's feet.

"Kazuma Satou. I will now send you to this new world, as one of the candidates for the hero who will defeat the Demon Lord. Whensoever you should do so, you will receive a gift from the gods."

"A gift...?" He asked.

"Yes. One commensurate with the worth of a world saved. We, the gods will grant any one thing you should ask."

"Cool!"

The light from the magic circle engulfed him, transporting him to the world governed by the chest-padding goddess Eris.

I can finally make progress to get that DLC—

As I was looking forward to getting that DLC, another light descended in the empty room once again.

"Oh come on! Give me a break already!"
