AN: READ! You do not need to read ANY of my other stories to understand this one. While it IS technically related to Dragonball: RPG(Surprise sequel?), Naruto: System Test, and Pokemon: Nuzlocke, it will stand on its own. If you want more information on how the game works within Life RPG, its background, its creation, etc, without needing to read 450k+ words of Fanfiction, I will likely be posting a standalone document titled "Life RPG: WTF IS THAT?" that goes into ALL of that. Otherwise, simply reading the story will handle most of that as well.
Chapter 1: A Magical World…
It happened quickly…One moment, my fiance and I were watching TV, eating dinner, and whiling away the time till we were tired enough to sleep…the next, our lives were over. I didn't know if it was a gas leak, an accident, or some sort of attack…but there was a bright flash, pain…and then nothing. I floated within the nothing void for what felt like years, upon years. I spent a long time mourning, begging, praying, and wishing…Promising to do better, if only I could have another chance!
When nothing came, I despaired…no sooner had I begun to believe that nothing was all I would receive…there was Light. I flinched, hard, the suddenness of the brightness reminiscent of my last earthly experience. After a moment for my heart to calm down, I opened my eyes to the light, and read.

To say I was confused would be an understatement. Never in my life would I have imagined that this is what awaited me after death. As a lifelong Buddhist, I had of course believed that one day I would be reborn, having failed to reach enlightenment so far in my life…but this? This wasn't the path I had expected it to take.
'Perhaps my belief system itself is what led to this happening for me?' I wondered, as I finally touched the only option available to me; 'New Game+'.
Words began to scroll past slowly, giving me time to read them.
'Welcome back, S2xs. We hope you enjoyed your Rm91cnRo foray into Life RPG.

The broken sections made my head hurt, but thankfully they were only visible for a moment. Finally, something new popped up, but these words remained.

As I read over what could only be described as a character sheet, I realized then what had killed me. It would seem living that close to Washington D.C. had cost us in the end, being a strategic strike location for anyone planning WW3. Finally, the text faded, and new words popped up to replace them.

Fictional: (New Worlds Available!)

None of this made any sense, not a bit of this meshed with what I had believed while alive. Could we all truly have been this wrong? With a shaking hand, I reached out and selected Fictional.

As I studied the list, I'll admit that several of these sounded fun…if this is what was in store for me after death…Well, truthfully this could actually be fun. I might as well enjoy myself. I thought about which I knew the most about, and how I could use that knowledge to get an advantage. I clicked on a few, just to read more into the various options.

3. (Custom AU) How The Mighty Have Fallen: Voldemort won the first war and Wizarding Britain trembles under his mighty fist. Will you join his cause, or fight against it?
After no more than a few seconds of hesitation, I reached out and lightly tapped on Harry Potter, and then Option 3, How The Mighty Have Fallen. While I wanted an advantage, I didn't want to make it too easy on me.
Everything faded away before a new menu appeared before me. I entered my first name, Billy, but the last name section was grayed out. I shrugged as I moved on. The next section asked where I would like to start, and listed a bunch of countries. As I wasn't sure exactly what was included, I decided I would simply start in Great Britain. As a huge Harry Potter fan, I would at least have that knowledge to fall back on. A few more taps and I was presented with the race selection, including a floating, rotatable T-posing young kid, aged 11, that kind of reminded me of me at that age. At the top was a drop-down box, listing all of the potential races, and a second tab labeled (NEW!) Custom. I tapped on the custom option, and a section of sliders, each one listing a new race, and a percentage popped up.
Human, Goblin, Veela, on and on. Human was at 100%, and all the others are currently at 0%. I slid the Goblin slider to the right till it hit 10%, the Human slider slipping down to 90%, and as I did so, the avatar shrunk, getting slightly shorter. His ears grew slightly to a barely-there point, as did his nose. His features morphed into what I could only describe as feral...I pushed it further to 25%, and he grew shorter and shorter. At 25%, an alert popped up on the side.
Alert! Goblin Heredity Feats And Features Unlocked!
Warning! Mixed-race humanoids are looked down upon by British Society! The less human you look, the more likely you are to be judged. You have been warned!
I slid it back down to 24%, and the alerts disappeared, and when I slid it back to 25%, it appeared again. I blinked slowly at this, before reaching for the Veela slider. I slid it to 25%, as the avatar turned into a girl, and new alerts popped up.
Alert! Veela is locked to the female body above 12.5%!
Alert! Veela Heredity Feats And Features Unlocked!
"Holy shit…" I said aloud, reading over everything.
I slid the sliders back and forth, mix and match as I went, just to see how weird I could make things. At 25% Giant, Goblin, Merfolk, and Human, I got access to all four races' feats and features and looked kind of sorta mostly human. If you studied me too much, I definitely wouldn't pass for human, but at a glance I did. With a frown, I lowered Merfolk back to 0% and raised humans to 50%. At 25% Goblin and Giant, 50% human, I appeared to be of average height for the age, maybe a bit taller than normal, but still mostly human. There were no warnings about being looked down upon, but I had gotten access to the feats and features of both secondary races. Giants gained bonuses to strength the higher the percentage, while Goblins had bonuses to Intelligence and Perception. At 25% each, I was looking at +3 for Strength, and +1 each for Perception and Intelligence. I clicked next, and a wall of text appeared.

I was lucky enough, at least, that it listed what each one meant, and how it was useful to the game overall.
S(trength) - Your physical strength! How strong you are, how heavy you lift, how hard you punch. Also ties into how much Magical Power you have.
P(erception) - How far you see, how well you hear, how much you can smell. Also ties into innate magical sensing.
E(ndurance) - How long you can move, how many spells you can cast! Need to run a marathon? Better have high endurance!
C(harisma) - Suave? A leader? Not without Charisma! If you want friends, maybe don't dump this stat.
I(ntelligence) - How quick-witted you are, how well you follow along, how good your memory can be! Also ties into learning spells, and increasing your spell casting!
A(gility) - How high you jump, how quick you react! If you plan to dodge spells, better keep this high.
L(uck) - A flighty lady at the best of times, no man can say he found fortune without at least a little bit of luck…
I assumed physical stats would be easier to raise than mental stats, seeing as how I can run, do exercises, etc, I would think Strength, Agility, and Endurance would be easier to raise than Charisma, Intelligence, and Perception. With that in mind, I spread my points.

A bit of an odd spread, but I didn't want to start as weak as a baby, or slow as a turtle, but keeping my other stats high would help more than hinder. I also didn't dump Charisma, as only an idiot would do something like that. I clicked finalize, and the screen cleared to the next one.
Feats Available: 4
The next section was feats, and I'll immediately state that I was astounded by the amount. The human feats alone numbered in the hundreds, and the racial feats added 50+ each. I scrolled through for a while, reading some that had interesting names, skipping over those that detailed things I didn't yet understand. I did find that some feats cost more points than others or had prerequisites for other feats, races, or even in-game achievements. Someone up there must really like Harry Potter and spent a lot of time on this. Ultimately, I selected two human feats, and one each from the Giant and Goblin trees.
Human Feats -
Wand Of Power, Wand Of Mystery - Story Feat
Your wand holds within it a mystery...solve it, and a secret power will become yours.
Inheritance - Story Feat
You descend from one of the many wizarding families, but how, who, or what is unknown?
Discover it, and who knows what might happen?
Giant Feats -
Strength of 10 Men - 25% Required - Physical Feat
Despite only having 25% blood inheritance, receive the full strength bonus. +10 Strength
Goblin Feats -
A Measure Of Treasure - Magical Sense Feat
You have an innate sense of treasure and its worth. +5 Perception, Treasure Sense
I clicked next, and my full stats screen popped up for review. I swiped a few times, pausing on my stats to see I had all the bonuses, before reaching the end. I clicked on finalize, allowing this menu to fade away to darkness…
How The Mighty Have Fallen…
1981...A year that in another world would have heralded peace and prosperity instead ended in tragedy. The Potters dead, the Order in chaos, He-Who-Should-Not-Be-Named victorious at last…
What followed instead was 10 years of conquest, death, and destruction. The world at large could only watch as Voldemort destroyed Great Britain, its champions dead, its resistance futile...taking the parts that remained and rebuilding it into a land he was to rule with an iron fist.
That his aspirations seemingly lay only within the bounds of England were all that stopped his violence from spilling over into the world...it would seem, that at last, the war was over...The next 10 years would mean a return to normalcy…if your normal is controlled by a homicidal megalomaniac, that is.
The world is wide open to you, your choices of great meaning. The war may be over, but that doesn't mean the fighting has stopped. There is a chance, however small, that one-day Wizarding Britain could be free once more. That chance now rests in your hands. Will you fight? Or will you join the dark in their conquest?
I read it twice, wondering about the workings of the system. After a moment I realized it was waiting for an answer.
"I'll fight," I say aloud.
There are those that would join you, one day, if you prove yourself worthy. Your journey begins today, fraught with challenges, adversity, and danger. Will it end in victory? Or will it end with your death?
Prepare yourself. The world you are entering is dark and full of mysteries. There will be moments when death may seem preferable to the plight you may face. Yet…
"Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of places, if one only remembers to turn on the light…" - Albus Dumbledore
"2000"
The world flashed bright white, swirling around me as what I thought of as my body shrank down, and down, and down. There was a high-pitched whir in my ears, my vision fading to black...but only for a moment. As my vision cleared, I could see faces, several dozen, maybe as many as a hundred, all staring up at me. Above them, a hundred floating candles lit the dark cathedral-like room. Above that, a dark sky...no, a ceiling that appeared to be a dark sky, covered in clouds like pitch.
'Ah...I see…' I hear whispered in my mind. 'How interesting…'
It takes me the slightest moment to realize what is happening. I'm being sorted...that's the great hall I'm seeing!
'That's correct.' I hear again in my head. 'Now...where to put you?'
'I must say, Billy, that this is a situation I wasn't prepared for. A child, that was a man, dead, and thrust into a new world that was fiction in his previous life.' The Sorting Hat whispered. 'A different world…a better world, but not one so different from this one.'
'Y-you...uh...You can see all that?' I ask.
'Of course! It's all right here in your head…that, and more than you know. Now, no worries...I can't share your secrets with anyone, nor can I be compelled to do so. My job is to sort, and that's all I can do.' He replied. It replied…
'He, thank you very much!' HE replied once more. 'What a conundrum…Your previous life was an interesting one, if a bit lonely at times. Hufflepuff would treat you well, as you know…but no, I see the idea isn't to your liking. You came here with a thought of where you'd go already, did you not?'
'Yes, I did.' I responded to the Hat.
'I can not sway you?' He asked, an interesting note in his voice.
'No, I'm afraid not.' I answered with finality.
'I see…in that case, better be…,' He whispered, "Ravenclaw!" The Hat crowed aloud, its words echoing across the hall.
The world spun into motion then, the table to the far right cheering. The Sorting Hat was pulled from my head, and I hopped down from the stool. My body felt a little strange, after spending years in a much larger body, but I knew I would get used to it. Before me, the ground almost seemed to light up with a soft blue line that led me to the Ravenclaw table. I swiftly walked over, snagging an open spot between two children.
'Of which I am now one…' I thought as I looked around the room.
I was right in my initial assumption, that there were at least a hundred children, perhaps a bit more, spread between the four tables. I looked up at the professor's table, hoping to see some familiar faces, but didn't recognize anyone immediately. That they didn't seem terribly surly was at least a help. The remaining kids were sorted in short order before a man stepped forward to the central podium.
"Welcome, one and all, once more, to another year at Hogwarts. Some of you have returned to continue your education, and some of you are just now starting. Please be aware that the Forbidden Forest is exactly as it's named. A forest...that is forbidden. Being caught there will lead to all sorts of trouble, and not being caught there could lead to your demise. Please heed this warning." He said, looking all around at us. "Furthermore, I am asked to once again remind you that there are nearly 500 items banned here at Hogwarts and that the list may be found attached to the caretaker's door and in each of the common rooms. Please report to a Professor, or Prefect at once if any of those items are spotted. There will be several announcements tomorrow at breakfast, 8 am. Please do not be late."
With a soft clap, the tables filled with every food imaginable, from large hams to turkeys to giant bowls towering with rolls and potatoes, and mashes and stews. I was starving, so swiftly dug in, listening to the conversation around me. The kids nearest me were discussing quidditch and the recent scores of some teams I'd never heard of. I ignored them, quickly finished eating, and just waited for whatever was to happen next. As I waited, I felt something hard in my pocket and pulled it out to see what it was.
'My...wand.' I thought, studying it.
The feat I had chosen was in the back of my mind as I looked at it. It was dark, perhaps as much as ten inches. There was little to no bend to it, as stiff as it could be. All along the outside were swirls, whisps, and dips of all sorts, a design that was somehow rigid and artful at the same time. The handle was darker even, some sort of metal inlaid in an intricate pattern. As I ran my fingers along the length, I became aware...of a warmth. As my hand wrapped around the handle of the wand, the warmth spread throughout my body, feeling as though it would burst forth. I quickly let go of the wand, lest sparks pour out and embarrass me in front of the entire great hall.
I blinked a few times, looking around me to see if anyone had noticed anything odd, but they were all still engrossed in their food. I looked down again, studying the wand closer when a little pop-up window appeared to float above it.

'Woah...now that's fucking awesome.' I thought, rereading it. 'Only 9 out of 15, but it's still considered priceless? Interesting…'
The food had long since changed to dessert, but I was already full on the main courses, so I ignored it for the chance to study those around me.
BING!
Ability Created - Observe. Lvl. 1
As I read the pop-up, I couldn't help but smile. That would surely come in handy later.
"Ravenclaws with me, please!" I hear a voice call out, dragging my attention to them. As I looked at them, a pop-up appeared above their head.
Marcus Turner - Ravenclaw Prefect Lvl 7.
I hopped up from the bench and quickly joined the 6 other first years who had become Ravenclaws with me. We waited off to the side for a bit, as the rest of the Great Hall emptied, leaving only the first years, and their Prefects, for each house.
"Hello hello!" Marcus says, grabbing our attention. "If you'll follow me, please, I'll lead you to our common room."
After looking at us all, he quickly turns around and heads towards the door. There is a slight hesitation before we follow, but we all quickly catch up as he reaches the door and passes through. We move to the staircases, and what follows I could only describe as barely controlled chaos. The stairs moved, the portraits talked, and I think one flashed us at one point, but I only saw out of the corner of my eye. We went down long corridors, and took several secret passages, a meandering course that at times didn't make much sense. Again there was a soft blue line that only I could see, that at times we followed, and other times we diverged from, causing it to sputter and twitch as it adjusted itself. Finally, we reached a tight staircase that we had to take two at a time instead of crowd, before reaching a large door with a large eagle knocker.
Marcus reached forward, before using the knocker. It seemed to come alive at once, studying us, before beginning to speak.
"It always runs, but never walks, has a mouth but never talks, it keeps a bed, but never sleeps, it has a head but never weeps..."
"To enter the Ravenclaw Common Room, you must answer a riddle," Marcus explains. "If you are unable to answer, you must wait for someone who can. This way, you learn something new each time. Now, does anyone know the answer?"
I'll admit that I already knew the answer, but didn't want to stand out. I'd heard this riddle in my first life, having always been a fan of wordplay.
"Anyone?" Marcus asks again, studying us.
"A river…" a voice near the back speaks up.
I don't turn around, despite really wanting to. The door in front of us swings inward, a large marble Eagle Statue is set against the wall, a staircase on either side wrapping around behind us. We made our way up the final set of stairs, leading into the brightly lit room that would be our home for the next 7 years. It was nearly exactly as seen in Hogwarts Legacy, though with a few more modern advancements. The common room was large, and circular, with a marble white statue of Rowena Ravenclaw herself. Nearly every other wall was a window, peering out into the dark of the night. There were a bunch of soft cushioned chairs, couches, and a few tables along the railing of the circular room. Through an archway, we could spot another common room, this one smaller, with a softly burning fire in the center. Along the archway were stairs, heading both up, and down. Spaced between each window was a bookcase.
Marcus explained the book policy, that we are allowed to read any of them, but that the higher up the book is, the more advanced it would be.
"Keep in mind that any books left out, even personal ones, can end up on the shelves by a random Ravenclaw simply cleaning up. If you don't want to lose your books, please keep an eye on it!" Marcus explains. "These stairs lead up to the upper commons, and the balcony, which is currently off-limits. The downstairs houses the bathrooms and dorms. First years are on the first floor, with boys to the left, and girls to the right. Boys' bathroom is on the second floor, girls' bathroom is on the third. Follow the signs, as I know you all can read. Breakfast is served starting at 6 am, for the early risers, and runs till 8 am. Schedules will be given out at the end of breakfast tomorrow. You're lucky this year as tomorrow is a Saturday, so you have all weekend to adjust to Hogwarts. Remember that Deputy Headmaster Zyphr said there would be several announcements, so do not be late."
"Should you need help finding a classroom, don't hesitate to ask one of the Prefects from any house, or your fellow Ravenclaws. I'd also suggest using the weekend to explore a bit and find your classrooms so you don't get lost come Monday morning. Again, if you need help, please ask. While we're here, we're family, despite what some would say." Marcus finishes. "Curfew is 8 pm, and at 8 pm I'll be taking a headcount to ensure that everyone has come back. A wise word for those who decide to explore; If you ever find yourself higher than 8 floors above the Great Hall, or the Torches that light hallways are a different color, or perhaps have turned into crystals, stay where you are. A search party will eventually arrive when you miss curfew…"
He motions towards the stairs again, "Your things should already be in your dorms. Feel free to hang out here in the commons for another half hour, but lights out is at 9 pm. Any questions?"
When no questions follow, he waves us away, turning to sit at one of the tables and pull out a book to read. I considered looking at some of the books, but I was honestly exhausted. I headed to the left, popping down the little staircase to the first landing, and opened the door to the dorms. I glanced around, before finding a chest with my name on it.
"Gray?" I read, rolling my eyes. "Of course, I'd have a weird last name. Fun."
No one else had followed me in quite yet, so I pulled my wand out once more. Again the warmth filled me, my nerves tingling with the warmth as it poured over my body. After a moment longer than when I'd held it earlier, a rush of sparks shot from the end, filling the room around me in a swirl of color.
Wand Acclimation Complete
The sparks spun around me for a short moment longer, before finally fading away. The wand in my hand was no longer quite so warm...instead, it felt as though the heat was inside of me, burning, ready to burst out at a moment's notice.
"Amazing…" I said aloud, looking at the wand in my hand.
A Measure Of Treasure Activated!
Treasure Level: 9/15
Value: Priceless Heirloom
Description: Unknown
Acclimation: Acclimated - Billy Gray
Material: Ebony/Dragon Heartstring/Quicksilver
Opinion: Happy
"Happy?" I wondered, reading over the description.
I considered it for a moment, before remembering back to what Ollivandar had long since said, 'That the wand chooses the wizard'. If they can choose, can they feel?
"Now that I'm here…how do I see my…stats?" I wondered aloud.
No sooner spoken, did my stat sheet pop open before my eyes, the world freezing around me. The sheet was pretty standard, but I did have several new tabs that weren't there when I had been setting up. It listed spells, many, many spells, both by year and type. Next to each one was its cost, and mastery level, with each currently set to 50%.
Spells Known:
First Year Spells:
Alohomora
Cistem Aperio
Colloportus
Diffindo
Flipendo
Flumos
Glacier
Incendio
Lumos
Mucus ad Nauseam
Nox
Reparo
Spongify
Tergeo
Wingardium Leviosa
The list went on and on, and on, all the way down to the final section.
Dark Arts:
Sectumsempra
Morsmordre
Imperio
Crucio
Avada Kedavra
'Why is everything at 50%?' I thought, reading the list over.
All the spells I recognized from the books, the movies, the games, etc. Perhaps knowing them, knowing the words, and knowing what they are meant to do, is worth 50%?
"Lumos!' I said out loud, pointing my wand straight out in front of me.
The tip of my wand lit up, brightening the room immensely, as a little pop-up appeared before me.
Lumos Spell +50%
Lumos Spell Mastered!
Another glance at the list told me that in fact, it had reached 100%. Looking further around, I found that the mastery levels were out of 200%.
1 - Basic
50 - Memorized
100 - Mastered
150 - Flick Casting
175 - Silent
200 - Wandless
I looked down at my chest, spying the little lock on the front. I pointed my wand at it, and as I thought to cast the unlocking spell, my hand twitched the wand through a small circle and a slash.
"Alohomora!' I spoke at last.
Alohomora Spell +1%
There was a soft pop, and the lock came undone, as the pop-up appeared. It seemed some spells were going to be harder to master than others, and that the mastery level affected both cost to use the spell, and how well I could use it. Lumos, before Mastery, had cost me 2.31MP to cast, and 0.05 to maintain, per second. At 100%, however, it would only cost 1.46MP to cast, and 0.01 to maintain, per second. Alohomora, however, cost 3.84 to cast and that didn't change when it jumped from 50% to 51%. I was about to start trying to cast some of the others before I heard footsteps moving towards the open door.
"Nox," I whispered, causing the light to disappear, and another pop-up appearing to tell me I had mastered this spell as well.
I hopped into bed, and closed the curtains around it, before pulling my robe off and flopping down onto the bed. I could hear the other kids talking, but it very quickly faded away. It took only a few moments longer before I swiftly fell asleep…
