The day passed and Kiki walked home, thinking of what she had learned while an audio book of "Ivanhoe" played in her head. No, she was not listening to it on her phone or anything like that, she just had it played in her head, much as one would have a song stuck in her head.
Were the Reptiles a cult like Hana thought? Maybe, but life was so much stranger than most people thought they could have been some reptiles that had escaped from a lab after being tested on.
Was that too science fiction-y? Maybe, but taking Barrage into account who knew what was out and what was in?
"Hey, Brandy! Just calling to say I'll be there soon! Class ended up running late!"
Taking a different route, Kiki felt it best to not listen to someone making a call while out walking. Whoever he was, she just hoped he got there soon.
She walked six blocks before she was figuratively struck by lightning. Brandy? As in Brandy Silver? One of the individuals involved in what had happed five years ago? If that was Brandy Silver who was being called, then that had to have been her boyfriend Camilio Martinez! They had to have known who the Reptiles were!
Quickly turning, Kiki ran back to where the individual she thought to be Camilio Martinez had been. Alas, he was long gone.
Tugging at her hair and stamping her right foot once, Kiki looked skyward, a cloud shaped like a two-headed camel floating overhead. She had been so close to getting answers from someone who had been there five years ago! So close!
