Sarah noticed that Ed had been in his room for a while. She went down to his room and knocked.

Sarah called, "Ed! Are you okay?"

She was met with silence. Sarah opened the door and looked around. Her bother was nowhere to be seen. Sarah then noticed all the mess in the room, and her heart hurt a little. She looked at all the old toys and books, and she tried to remember the last time she even saw Ed get anything new. She also noticed how gross the room was.

Sarah asked herself, "Why does Mom let Ed stay in here for so long?"

She went back upstairs to her mother. Her mom was busy washing dishes, and Sarah couldn't see her face.

Sarah asked, "Hey, Mom, I was just wondering what happens when I tell you that Ed is doing something bad?"

Her mother replied, "I knock some sense into him with my belt and lock him in his room. It's the way my mother punished me, and I turned out fine. Especially since your father that she forced me to marry after I was pregnant with your brother and left us for some hussy that doesn't even love him!"

Sarah noticed her mother's voice waver with rage as she clenched a glass so hard it cracked.

Her mother then cleared her throat and asked, "Why do you ask, dear?"

Sarah squeaked, "No reason, I just thought I asked."

Sarah then ran off as her mother threw the glass into the trash can, muttering, "Good riddance."

Sarah rushed up into her room and noticed the tiara on the dresser was falling apart a bit. Sarah went into her dresser and pulled out a glue bottle. She caught her reflection in the mirror and noticed a few tears were prickling her eyes.

Sarah's heart was pounding in her chest; a new feeling was washing over her. For the first time in her life, she felt frightened of her mother.

Sarah muttered, "This must be what Ed feels like every time I threaten to tattle on him."

Sarah's heart dropped to her stomach as regret washed over her. She allowed her sadness to throttle her with new tears.

Sarah sobbed, "What have I done? Ed is my big brother, and I took his only friends away. Now he's gone away for who knows how long, and it's all my fault!"

She collapsed onto her bed to cry her eyes out, her tiara crumbling onto her dresser. Suddenly, a gentle knock was on her door.

Sarah sniffled, "Who is it?"

Jimmy answered, coming into the room "It's me Sarah, Jimmy, I'm here for our playdate. I also overheard what you said."

Jimmy sat on the edge of Sarah's bed.

Sarah asked, "How much did you hear?"

Jimmy said, "Enough to know that the only one who can fix this is you."

Sarah asked, sitting up to be next to Jimmy, "But how?"

Jimmy gave it some thought and said, "Maybe we can find Ed and tell him the truth."

Sarah dried her tears and said, "Yeah, right, like he'll listen to me. I took away his only respet from our horribleMotherr, he must think I'm a monster."

Jimmy placed a hand on Sarah's shoulder and said, "It wouldn't hurt to at least try."

"You're right," Sarah said, and then she hugged Jimmy. "Thanks, Jimmy."

Jimmy hugged back with a smile.
