Draven's journey brought him to the edge of a familiar forest, one that held memories of camaraderie and growth. The sun hung low in the sky, casting a warm golden glow over the landscape as he approached the last mercenary camp. The camp was bustling with activity, mercenaries training their Pokémon, tending to their weapons, and preparing meals over open fires. As Draven walked through the camp, he was greeted with nods and respectful murmurs, his reputation preceding him.

At the center of the camp stood a tall, muscular man with a commanding presence. His hair, once dark, was now streaked with silver, and his eyes held the wisdom of countless battles. This was Leon, the leader of the mercenary group and a mentor to Draven, Kleo, and Kaida. Leon turned, a broad smile spreading across his face as he saw Draven approaching.

"Draven! It's been too long, my boy," Leon boomed, pulling Draven into a bear hug. "What brings you back to our humble camp?"

Draven returned the hug with a smile, feeling the familiar strength and warmth of his old mentor. "It's good to see you, Leon. I have news and a request. The Queen has granted me land and the title of Duke. I've come to ask for your support."

Leon's smile faded, replaced by a thoughtful expression. "A Duke, huh? That's quite the title. But you know me, Draven. I can't take orders from the Queen. I've seen too much to trust the crown blindly. You mean well, I know that, but there's a lot that comes with that title, and as long as the Queen is in charge, I can't align myself with her."

Draven nodded, understanding the depth of Leon's mistrust. "I get it, Leon. But I'm here to make my trip worthwhile. How about a battle? Let's see if I've still got what it takes."

Leon's eyes twinkled with excitement. "A battle, eh? It's been a while since we sparred. Alright, Draven, let's see what you've got!"

The mercenaries gathered around, forming a circle as Draven and Leon took their places at opposite ends. The air buzzed with anticipation as the two trainers prepared for battle.

"Go, Dragonite!" Draven called, releasing his mighty Dragonite onto the field.

Leon grinned, tossing a Poké Ball into the air. "Let's start with my Rillaboom!"

The massive Grass-type Pokémon landed with a thud, pounding its chest and readying its drum. The two Pokémon faced each other, eyes filled with ferocity.

"Dragonite, use Fire Punch!" Draven commanded.

Dragonite lunged forward, its fist engulfed in flames. The attack struck Rillaboom, who staggered but quickly regained its footing.

"Rillaboom, Drum Beating!" Leon countered.

Rillaboom slammed its drum, sending shockwaves through the ground that struck Dragonite, causing it to roar in pain.

"Dragonite, use Fly!" Draven shouted.

Dragonite soared into the sky, evading another Drum Beating. It then dove down, striking Rillaboom with immense force and knocking it out.

Leon smiled, recalling Rillaboom. "Not bad, Draven. But let's see how you handle this. Go, Dragapult!"

The sleek, ghostly dragon materialized on the field, its presence eerie and intimidating.

"Dragonite, Thunder Wave!" Draven ordered.

Dragonite released a burst of electrical energy, aiming to paralyze Dragapult, but the agile Pokémon dodged with ease.

"Dragapult, Dragon Darts!" Leon commanded.

Dragapult fired two spectral projectiles that hit Dragonite with precision, causing the dragon to cry out in pain before collapsing to the ground.

Draven recalled Dragonite, a determined glint in his eye. "Go, Scorbunny!"

The young Scorbunny appeared, bouncing on its feet with energy.

"Scorbunny, use Ember!" Draven directed.

Scorbunny unleashed a flurry of fiery embers at Dragapult, landing a few hits but doing little damage.

"Dragapult, Shadow Ball!" Leon instructed.

A dark, pulsating orb formed in front of Dragapult before it launched the attack, hitting Scorbunny squarely and knocking it out.

Draven quickly recalled Scorbunny. "Frogadier, it's your turn!"

Frogadier appeared, agile and ready for battle.

"Frogadier, Ice Beam!" Draven called.

Frogadier launched a chilling beam of ice at Dragapult, hitting it directly and causing significant damage.

"Dragapult, Dragon Darts again!" Leon commanded.

Dragapult fired its spectral darts, striking Frogadier and knocking it back, but the Water-type managed to stay on its feet.

"Frogadier, use Ice Beam again!" Draven urged.

Frogadier sent another powerful beam of ice at Dragapult, finally knocking the ghostly dragon out.

Leon recalled Dragapult with a nod. "You've improved, Draven. But let's see how you handle this. Go, Aegislash!"

The ghostly sword and shield Pokémon appeared, floating ominously.

"Frogadier, use Night Slash!" Draven commanded.

Frogadier's claws glowed with dark energy as it slashed at Aegislash, but the attack barely made a dent in the spectral armor.

"Aegislash, Sacred Sword!" Leon countered.

Aegislash shifted into its blade form and struck Frogadier with a powerful, glowing slash. Frogadier was knocked back, struggling to stay conscious.

Suddenly, Frogadier's form began to glow. Its body elongated and transformed, evolving into Greninja. With renewed strength and determination, Greninja stood ready for battle.

"Now, Greninja, Water Shuriken!" Draven called.

Greninja formed sharp water shurikens and hurled them at Aegislash, hitting it multiple times and causing significant damage.

Leon smirked. "Not bad. Aegislash, Iron Head!"

Aegislash struck with a metallic headbutt, knocking Greninja out cold.

Draven recalled Greninja, his resolve unwavering. "Lucario, you're up!"

Lucario appeared, its aura flaring brightly.

"Lucario, Aura Sphere!" Draven ordered.

Lucario formed a sphere of concentrated aura energy and launched it at Aegislash, striking it with precision and knocking it out.

Leon nodded approvingly. "Impressive. Go, Haxorus!"

The powerful dragon Pokémon appeared, roaring fiercely.

"Lucario, Close Combat!" Draven called.

Lucario rushed at Haxorus, delivering a flurry of powerful blows.

"Haxorus, Dragon Claw!" Leon countered.

Haxorus slashed at Lucario with its claws, causing Lucario to stumble but not fall.

"Lucario, use Aura Sphere again!" Draven shouted.

Lucario formed another sphere of aura energy and launched it at Haxorus, hitting it squarely and causing it to falter.

"Finish it, Haxorus! Outrage!" Leon commanded.

Haxorus roared and charged at Lucario with a wild, furious attack, knocking Lucario out with its overwhelming power.

Draven recalled Lucario, his heart heavy but his spirit unbroken. Leon approached, clapping a hand on Draven's shoulder.

"You fought well, Draven. Your team has potential, but you need to strengthen your bonds and your strategies if you intend to be a true Duke. If you ever have a serious problem, you know where to find me. I'll always have your back."

Draven nodded, grateful for the advice and the camaraderie. "Thank you, Leon. I'll keep that in mind. I'll be heading back now."

Leon smiled. "Take care, Draven. And remember, a true leader never stands alone. You also still have slots on your team. Plug them wisely. "

As Draven prepared to leave the camp, he handed Leon a seal. "Give this to Grenn when he arrives. He and his hundred men will be accepted into the dukedom. Kleo will be in charge until I return."

Leon took the seal with a nod. "Understood. Safe travels, Draven."

With a final wave, Draven set off, ready to get back home. The journey back would be long, but it would give him the time to think about what Leon had told him. For the longest he relied on Lucario and Dragonite, it was time to make some improvements.
