Things were going a lot better for Moenna since Keven started playing with her. After so long, she could stop being scared and relaxed. Keven kept asking her questions and she did her best to answer what she knew.
"Keven! Time for dinner!" His Mother called out.
Keven frowns, not wanting to leave his new friend.
"Do you want to come?" He asked her.
"I think I better stay here. I'm not quite ready to meet other humans yet." Moenna told him.
"Come on, Miss Moenna! I'm sure my parents would like to meet you." He said, grabbing her hand.
"Careful! I told you, those are my claws! I can cut you if you're not careful." Moenna warned him.
Keven looked at her hands, seeing the claws. He then smiles and hugs her. Moenna couldn't stop feeling the warmth that was building up in her and still had trouble bringing her arms up to return it. Keven broke as his mother called out for him. He climbed out of the brush before Moenna peeked out. She saw even him run up to his mother, who was shaking her head. Moenna smiled, at least she was safe. She pulled herself back into the brush before laying down on the blanket. She fell asleep, tired from the playing she had. Maybe this new life wasn't so bad.
A bit later,
Something was moving. Moenna opened her eyes before listening. Something was walking towards the brush. They sounded big and heavy. Moenna remains still, a bit afraid. She heard the footsteps walk around before hearing someone speak.
"So, are you able to remove it?"
"Yeah. I'm going to have to dig the whole up. If there's anything under there, better get it before tomorrow."
"Very well. My wife and I are tired of Keven playing in this brush. We kept telling him that he could catch something. Now he's talking about a lizard girl in it."
"Kids. Sometimes they can drive you crazy and other times you can't help but love them."
"I know. Keven won't be happy."
Moenna couldn't believe it. They were going to take away her new home! But what could she do?! If she shows herself to them, then she may never see Keven again! That thought was enough to make her shake. Losing someone that she grew close to was just as bad as killing herself. She had to do something!
Pushing herself up, she crawled over to the roots and dug through them. She appeared from behind the brush, still shaking. She peeks around it, seeing two men talking more. She then spotted a window, seeing Keven in it. She looked back at the two before taking a breath.
"Please, don't take my home."
The two men looked shocked at the voice coming from behind the brush.
"Is someone there?" Keven's father asked.
"Keven gave me this brush as my home. Please, don't take it." Moenna said.
"Um, miss? Why are you living in a brush?" The other man said.
"It's hard to explain, but please, leave it," Moenna said, hearing them walking over.
She quickly moves to the other side, staying out of sight.
"Please, don't try and find me. I would rather not scare anyone." She said, getting ready to drive back under the brush.
She then noticed a shadow growing behind her and turned around. One of the men had snuck up behind her, making her scream and causing her spike to stick out, almost cutting the man as he jumped back.
"What the hell?!" He said, shocked.
Moenna wasted no time she dove back under the brush before they could try and catch her. The two men looked at each other, wondering what they saw was real.
"Was that woman wearing some kind of costume?" Keven's father asked.
"If she was, those spikes were sharp." The other man said, looking at his hands.
They had small cuts, not enough to cause bleeding, but they did sting a little.
"We're going to have to get out of the brush before we can remove it." He said.
Moenna just curled up into a ball. What was she going to do now?
With Locke,
Locke sat on a roof, whining as he learned that his owner was long gone. All this time and it was for nothing. He whines again, not noticing his soulbeast gem glowing.
"Locke."
His ears peek up, hearing the voice of his owner.
"Master? Is that you?" He asked, getting up.
"Yes, Locke. It's me."
Locke turned around and saw a ghostly form of an older man who looked much like the boy he saw earlier.
"Master?" He asked.
"It's been a long time, Locke. I must say, this new form of yours is new." He said, moving closer.
"How are you here? I was told you were dead." Locke asked.
"It appears that your gem was the one that called me," Marcus said, pointing to it.
Locke looked at his gem, surprised.
"I was watching you all this time, Locke. I saw you run into my great-grandson." Marcus said.
"He smelled like you. He even looked like you." Locke said.
"That he does," Marcus smiles.
"Why did you run from him? I always told you to stay." He asked.
"I..."
Locke didn't know why he left. Yes, he was hurt that his owner was gone, but he did just leave someone who was lost and confused.
"Locke, the boy is family. He's my family. And I taught you that family must be loved." Marcus said.
Locke looks down, understanding his master's words.
"I'll find the boy. I will be a good boy to him like I was to you." He said.
"I know you will," Marcus said before turning.
"Ah, it's time for me to take my leave." He said, surprising Locke.
"Master..." Locke started.
"Locke, please keep up the good work. And remember, family is more important than being powerful." Marcus said, slowly fading away.
Locke watches his old master disappear, looking at his gem. He always wondered why it was there when he gained this form. But it seems to grant him his wish. Looking up, Locke nodded before trying to pick up the sense he found before. Lucky for him, it was still fresh. Locke look up one last time before smiling.
"I will be a good boy! A good boy for my new master!" He said, jumping down.
With Alice and Tsurimu,
Tsurimu could hardly believe what this crazy rabbit/person/thing was telling her. The Soulplane? Fiends? Taking up a new form? None of it made sense to her.
"Mistress? Are you okay?" Alice asked.
"I'm just trying to understand everything." She said, looking away.
'This person is crazy! The Soulpane?! Where did she dig that up?!' She thought.
"Oh, Mistress! I saw that mean girl you spoke to! I wanted to teach her a lesson, but I was so happy to see you again!" Alice said before jumping up.
"I can teach her a lesson! Show her the same love you gave me!" She said, looking ready to prove herself.
Tsurimu looked at her. She still had a hard time believing what she was told, but hearing that Alice wanted to teach Tsukumo a lesson did sound good to her.
"Alright. You can do that. Show her what happens when you mess with the likes of me." She said, nodding.
"Thank you, Mistress! I'll make you proud!" Alice said, jumping a bit.
She then bends down on her legs before removing her hat.
"May I be petted, please?" She asked.
Tsurimu looked at her before sighing. She reaches over and touches Alice's head.
'What the?! Is that...fur?!' She thought, surprised.
"Mistress always pet nice. I love Mistress pets!" Alice said, cooing.
Tsurimu just sighs. Whatever is going on, it seems that things are finally starting to turn around.
And stopping here. A bit longer than my other chapters, but I covered enough for now. So, Moenna's new life is having a bit of trouble, her new home is about to be taken and she was discovered by Keven's father and another man. And she's going to have to do something to keep her new home and stay close to Keven. I use the idea of Locke meeting his old master spirit, who helps him understand that he has another chance and Locke is going to take it. Finally, we come back to Alice and Tsurimu. Tsurimu doesn't believe at all what Alice told her but is not against Alice teaching Tsukumo a lesson. And Alice knows what kind of lesson to teach her.
Next chapter, we head back to Kuon and Tsukumo. Not too sure what to do, but I do know that I want Kuon to save Tsukumo from Alice before they meet again. Any ideas, folks?
