I have a new job, life got a BIT hectic, but I am adapting. I have a good feeling about my new job.
Just saying.
I have no plans to undo this story, I am determined to actually finish something.
For once in my GD life!
Five minutes.
Five tiny minutes since fighting Chojuro, that was all it took for Mika to be forced into a terrible fight in Mist. One that would show him just how brutal, irrational and wrong the entire Civil war was at the hands of the Yagura loyalitsts.
They were all minding their business, he and Chojuro, chitchatting about their spar. Both were incredibly pleased, Chojuro stuttering with raw excitement. "You're the first swordsman to ever be on my level, since I first took up my blade!"
Mika laughed. "Like I said earlier, Yugao is even better. Try her, and we'll see if I am still that good in your eye-AH!" Mika called out, an explosion rocked the grounds of the Rebels compound, sending both Mika and Chojuro to the ground. The sound of shrapnel tore through the air, two pieces carving slits across Mika's right shoulder, one through Chojuro's leg.
"REBELS, DIE IN OBSCURITY!" A woman called out, Mika turned to her as he tried to refocus from the shock. The lady standing on a fallen Rebel body was tall, with red hair and sharp teeth, looking at them with malice and rage. Her eyes, a normal brown, glistened with a light that left Mika shudder. She turned and actually faced Mika. "Ahh, you, I hear you fought and killed Raiga. He has my aunt's Kiba blades, you gave them to these scum, didn't you?"
'Ameyuri Ringo, the only female member of the Seven Swordsman, and one of their scariest members... if she is anything like her aunt, she is terrifying.' Releasing a pulse of chakra to shock himself to recovery, Mika grabbed Chojuro's arm and flipped them both up. He sent another pulse through the boy, shocking him into awareness. "Why would you attack your own people, people who's crime was only birth?"
The lady just laughed for a long moment while dozens of ninja walked out from behind her, cold and ugly inside and out. "People, they were and are tools, and tools cannot be allowed to outlast their masters." She, and every one of her minions continued to laugh...
Only to stop as Mika's killer intent exploded into the world, tearing a swath across them all. Chojuro actually recoiled, eyes wide. Mei, who he saw striding toward them with wide eyes, looked at him hesitantly.
"I will happily lay waste to your army, for that comment alone." And Mika cringed internally, realizing that he too did in fact hold his father's temper... and yet, he felt himself strengthened by his own malice. 'At least your hate will give me the strength to overcome these odds, dad...' And then he moved, with speed only a jonin or higher could match. His blade clashed against one she summoned from her sleeve, her body buckling under the suddenness of his attacking.
Only, she did not look afraid... she looked near orgasm. "Oh, a Leaf Ninja capable of swordplay. Let's play, little boy., I am Kairi Ringo. The rest of you, leave not a one of them alive."
And so began Mika's dance while the rest of the ninja fought their enemies, Rebels vs Loyalists. Even as he paid full attention to Kairi Ringo, he saw endless death around hi. Something that became clear, within seconds, was that the Loyalists aimed to brutalize where as the Rebels aimed to kill. That difference was so stark, it almost left him breathless.
'They'll need me to live, to act as medic... I need to end this fast, and patch up my own wounds.' He thought, remembering the sweet agony of the shrapnel. 'How many died of the explosion, of the shrapnel...too many, even if just one.'
Dodging strike after strike, her vicious viper like slashes, Mika had to use every ounce of his evasive skills to keep up. He had not put a single scratch on her, she was too fast, strong and experienced, easily twenty years his senior.
Realizing this, he decided to attempt something. Channeling his power, his chakra, into his legs, he moved. "Leaf style- Moonstep!" And then he moved, slashing outward, his blade caught hers, shattering them both and sending her flying back as shrapnel peppered them both with tiny marks.
"YOU BASTARD!" She managed to scream out, holding what remained of her blade. "I WILL GUT YOU WITH WHAT REMAINS-AHH!" And all her words were swallowed by a vicious, viscous batch of lava covering her body in anguish and death. She collapsed in a puddle, her last sound a soul shuddering death rattle.
Mika did not waste a moment, turning to Mei who wiped the lava from her lops. "She talked too much... attend to the injured... and you did well, you managed to stop Kairi Ringo, one of Yagura's lieutenants... good work. Tsunade was right to send you..." She turned, taking in the countless injured. "So many hurt... Rebels!" Mei called out, and her tone told Mika all he needed to hear to know why she was leader. "We fight with a nobel purpose, for freedom to live. This attack, brutal and cruel, was all we needed to see to know that we must act more forward, more aggressively if we are to overcome the evils of Yagura and the Loyalists. We will not allow this evil deed to go unpunished... we will fight back... we will WIN!"
And those that were able to called out, roaring in bloodlust, but Mika knew that a great many of them would not make it to the end of this conflict...
Even with his aid.
And that was nothing if not haunting.
Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.
This was a joy to write.
Love, your Ninja Overlord,
Mika.
