Diglett's Tunnel
The group are currently walking down Diglett Tunnel on their way to the Ruins of Life where their Grand Trial is located.
"I hope we don't get lost in here." said Sarah.
"Don't worry, Sarah; I've been through this tunnel many times, so I know my way around." said Maxiley.
"Well, that's good to hear." said Sarah. While they walked down the tunnel, unbeknownst to the others, Ed was looking up around the cave, unaware he was wandering away from the rest of the group down a different tunnel. He continued walking until he reached two piles of rocks. He looks behind him and saw that the others were gone.
"Guys?" said Ed, looking around. He then looks in between the two piles of rocks and saw what appeared to be a pale-yellow rock that appeared to have fire in it at the end of the tunnel the rocks were blocking. Curious, Ed takes out his Ride Pager and uses it to summon a Ride Tauros; he climbs onto the seat of it and has the Ride Tauros charge through one of the piles of rocks, destroying it. After returning the Ride Tauros to the Ride Pager pokeball, Ed walks to the rock and picks it up.
"Ed?!" Ed hears Edd call out. Ed runs down the tunnel until he reaches the rest of the group. "Ed; please try to stick with the group."
"Sorry, Double D, but look what I found!" said Ed, holding out the rock he found.
"Hey, that's a Fire Stone!" said Maxiley.
"Ed; if you use that on your Eevee, she'll evolve into Flareon." said Edd.
"Oh boy!" said Ed. He pulls out a pokeball and tosses it, releasing his Eevee. Ed kneels towards Eevee and holds out the Fire Stone to her. "You want to evolve, Eevee?" Eevee looks at the Fire Stone and touches it with her paw. Eevee began to glow and change shape. When the glowing stopped, Eevee was bigger, she now had reddish-orange fur with a yellow tuft of fur on her head, a bushy yellow mane around her chest and neck, and a yellow bushy tail. Edd takes out the Rotom Pokedex and points it at Ed's newly evolved Eevee.
"Flareon, the Flame Pokemon, and the evolved form of Eevee. The flame chamber inside its body ignites when Flareon gets agitated, reaching temperatures of up to 1,650 degrees Fahrenheit." said the Rotom Pokedex.
"Congratulations, Ed." said Edd. "According to this, upon evolving, your Flareon learned Ember, and she now has the Flash Fire ability, which makes it that fire type attacks don't harm her, but instead makes her fire attacks stronger."
"Cool!" said Ed.
"Diglett, Dig, Diglett, Dig, Diglett Dig." Jimmy hears something chant. He looks around and then down on the tunnel floor and sees a tiny brown Pokemon with a round pink nose and three strands of yellow hair on top, come partly out of the ground.
"Double D; what's that?" asked Jimmy. Edd points the Rotom Pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Diglett, the Mole Pokemon. The need to dig through volcanic rock in the ground has made them more powerful than the Diglett of other regions." said the Rotom Pokedex.
"Diglett of other regions?" asked Jimmy.
"Yeah; you see, Jimmy, while Digletts of other regions are just ground type; Alolan Digletts are part ground, and part steel." said Maxiley.
"Intriguing." said Edd. Jimmy pulls Wishiwashi's Dive Ball out of his pocket.
"I'm catching this Diglett! Wishiwashi, go!" said Jimmy, tossing Wishiwashi's Dive Ball and releasing him. Wishiwashi's Schooling ability activates, transforming him to his School Form. "Wishiwashi, Water Gun!" Wishiwashi unleashes a stream of water from his mouth and it hits Diglett, dealing super effective damage to it. Diglett spins around, releasing a ball of mud from the ground and hitting Wishiwashi. "Use Brine!" Wishiwashi releases a stronger stream of water from his mouth and it hits Diglett, dealing super effective damage. Diglett sinks a little into the ground. Jimmy takes one of the Nest Balls Mallow gave him out of his pocket and throws it at Diglett, hitting it and sucking it in; it wiggles around a few times until it clicks, indicating a successful capture. "Yay! I caught a Diglett!"
"Way to go, Jimmy." said Maxiley. Wishiwashi returns to his regular form while Diglett's Nest Ball vanishes. Edd looks up Diglett's information on the Rotom Pokedex.
"It says here your Diglett is male, he knows Sand Attack, Metal Claw, Growl, Astonish, Mud-Slap, Magnitude, and Bulldoze." said Edd. "He has the Tangling Hair ability, which lowers the speed of a Pokemon that physically attacks him."
The group continued to travel down Diglett's Tunnel, training their Pokemon as they did.
Ed's Dartrix learned Fury Attack, his Grimer learned Knock Off and Crunch, his Gigalith learned Rock Slide, his Flaaffy learned Confuse Ray, his Seel learned Aqua Ring and Aqua Jet, and his Flareon learned Fire Fang and Fire Spin. During the training, Dartrix and Flaaffy began to glow.
"My Dartrix and Flaaffy are evolving!" said Ed. Dartrix and Flaaffy began to grow taller, and the glowing stopped.
Dartrix was taller, had a green, leafy hood with a long, white feather on it around his head and shoulders that extends down his back and had an orange, masklike marking around his eyes, his wings were light brown with orange, triangular markings on them, larger and had three fingered hands on the end of them now, his legs were longer and they along with his feet and torso were white, he had an X formed by orange leaves over his chest with two green vines hanging down from it, he had dark green talons on the end of his toes, and three long green leaves for tail feathers.
"He looks so cool!" said Ed. Edd points the Rotom Pokedex at the newly evolved Dartrix.
"Decidueye, the Arrow Quill Pokemon, and the final form of Rowlet. Decidueye can nock and fire an arrow at an enemy in a tenth of a second, so its battles are decided in the blink of an eye." said the Rotom Pokedex.
"According to this, Ed; your Decidueye is now part grass, part ghost, and he learned a move called Spirit Shackle." said Edd.
Flaaffy no longer had any wool on her, she had yellow rubbery skin with a white belly, and a red gem on her forehead and a red orb on the end of her tail. Edd takes out the Rotom Pokedex and points it at the newly evolved Flaaffy.
"Ampharos, the Light Pokemon, and the final evolved form of Mareep. Its tail shines bright and strong. It has been prized since long ago as a beacon for sailors." said the Rotom Pokedex.
"Congratulations, Ed on your Pokemon reaching their final forms; and according to this, upon evolving, your Ampharos learned Thunder Punch." said Edd.
"Oh boy!" said Ed. He turned towards Ampharos. "I still like you, Ampharos, even if you don't have wool." Ampharos smiles in response.
Edd's Brionne learned Double Slap, his Toucannon learned Screech, his Magneton learned Flash Cannon, his Ariados learned Spider Web, and his Espeon learned Psybeam, Future Sight, and Psych Up. Also, during the training, his Brionne and Herdier froze up and started to glow.
"My word; Brionne and Herdier are evolving!" said Edd. Everyone gathers behind him and watch as Brionne and Herdier start to change. When they finished, Brionne's body was longer, it was mostly white and her flippers were longer, while her tail was blue with pink protrusions coming out of it, but the end of it being white; she had long, teal hair on the back of her head that was in a ponytail with two strings of pearls, on her head was a pink starfish, above her forehead, draped over her neck, and around her waist were three fins that were like a tiara, collar, and skirt.
"She's beautiful." said Sarah with awe. Edd takes out the Rotom Pokedex and points it at his newly evolved Brionne.
"Primarina, the Soloist Pokemon, and the final form of Popplio. Also known as a songstress, it has a fantastical look on moonlit nights when it leads its colony in song." said the Rotom Pokedex.
"Incredible!" said Edd. "And this says that Primarina is part fairy type now, and she now knows a move called Sparkling Aria."
"Your starter is now fully evolved, Double-D!" said Ed as he hugged Edd.
"Please unhand me, Ed." said Edd, making Ed release him.
Everyone looks at Herdier to see he's evolved into a Stoutland.
"The Rotom Pokedex says that my new Stoutland now knows Fire Fang, Thunder Fang, and Ice Fang." said Edd.
Eddy's Torracat now knew Fury Swipes, his Charjbug now knew X-Scissor, his Noibat learned Razor Wind, his Poliwhirl learned Mud Shot, and his Leafeon learned Swords Dance.
Also, during the training, Eddy's Torracat started to glow.
"Hey! Torracat's evolving!" said Eddy. They all watch as Torracat started to change. When he was done, he was now a Incinerorar.
"Your Pokemon is so cool!" said Ed. Edd looks at Incineroar's data.
"And this says that Incineroar is part dark type now, and he learned a move called Darkest Lariat." said Edd.
"Sweet!" said Eddy.
Sarah's Blissey learned Helping Hand, Mrs Mime learned Recycle, her Alomomola learned Soak, and her Salandit learned Toxic. Her Ledian and Eevee also got stronger.
Jimmy's Lucario learned Quick Guard, his Butterfree learned Bug Buzz, his Pikachu learned Nuzzle, his Wishiwashi learned Dive, and his Umbreon learned Feint Attack, Assurance, and Screech. His Lycanroc also got stronger.
Maxiley's Pokemon also got stronger and his Vaporeon learned Aqua Ring and Acid Armor.
As they got further through the tunnel, they see a man and a woman dressed in white.
"With Olivia in charge, we finally managed to make some headway against those Digletts." said the woman. She and the man noticed the group.
"Oh. Alola." said the man.
"Alola." said the group in unison.
"We're members of the Aether Foundation. We work to support Pokemon conservation." said the man.
"That sounds nice." said Edd.
"It seems Team Skull is responsible for the Diglett in this cave getting so riled up and bringing them up in the surface." said the man.
"Team Skull?" asked Maxiley.
"They're just a gang of hooligans who go around stealing other trainers Pokemon and Island Amulets." replied Edd.
"We've taken them on before." said Sarah.
"And always win." said Ed.
"Diglett normally live in elabortate systems of underground tunnels that takes years to dig out." said the man. "We're here to ensure that they return to their tunnels and let people pass through here without having to fight so many Pokemon."
"Some of the Diglett are still stuck on or near the surface, so be careful." said the woman.
"We will; thank you for your concern." said Edd. The man and woman walk away, and the group continue down the tunnel.
"Man; Team Skull are jerks." said Eddy.
"We're almost to the end." said Maxiley as they continued walking. Just then, they see two Team Skull members, a boy and a girl near the tunnel entrance.
"Just when things were starting to get heat up, yo, I got surrounded by Diglett and beat up, yo!" said the male Team Skull member. "Since when can Diglett use Beat Up? I'm so mad I want to beat up some fools." He then notices the group. "Looks like here are some fools dumb enough to be here right now."
"Who are you calling a fool?!" exclaimed Sarah as she pulls out a pokeball. The female Team Skull member walks to the male member's side.
"Hey; two on one's not fair." said Maxiley, walking to Sarah's side.
"You want to mess with us too, punk?" asked the female Team Skull member.
"Sure, why not?" asked Maxiley as he pulls out a pokeball. The Team Skull members each pull out a pokeball.
"Go, Salandit!" said the male member, throwing a pokeball and releasing a Salandit.
"You too, Ekans!" said the female member, tossing her pokeball and releasing an Ekans.
"Go, Pupitar!" said Maxiley, tossing Pupitar's pokeball and releasing him.
"You too, Blissey!" said Sarah, tossing Blissey's pokeball and releasing her.
"Pupitar, use Screech!" said Maxiley. Pupitar lets out a scream that weakens Salandit and Ekans defense.
"Blissey, Take Down!" said Sarah. Blissey runs at Ekans and rams it, knocking it to the ground. Blissey winces in pain from the recoil damage of Take Down. "Sorry, Blissey." Blissey nods in understanding.
"Salandit, Dragon Rage!" said the male member. Salandit releases a purple ball of energy from its mouth, and it hits Pupitar, hurting him.
"Ekans, Bite!" said the female member. Ekans lunges at Blissey.
"Blissey, Defense Curl!" said Sarah. Blissey curls into a ball and increases her defense before Ekans bites onto her, but not doing much damage.
"Pupitar, Chip Away!" said Maxiley. Pupitar leaps at Salandit and rams it, doing more damage due to its weakened defense. It falls to the ground, unconscious.
"Salandit!" said the male member.
"Blissey, Pound!" said Sarah. Blissey leaps at Ekans and pounds its head, knocking it out.
"No way!" said the female member.
"We did it!" said Sarah, hugging Maxiley, making him blush.
"Splendid work, you two." said Edd.
"You showed them who's boss!" said Jimmy. The Team Skull members returned their Pokemon to their pokeballs.
"Get out of here or else!" Sarah yelled at the Team Skull members.
"Hey, ease up!" said the female member.
"It's not like we're trying to take over the world or anything." said the male member. The Team Skull members toss pokedollars at Sarah and Maxiley and ran out of the tunnel entrance. Sarah and Maxiley begin picking up pokedollars, as they did, they reach for the same pokedollar at the same time and their hands touch; they look at each other's eyes and look away.
"You take it, Sarah." said Maxiley.
"T-Thanks." said Sarah, taking the pokedollar. After returning Blissey and Pupitar to their pokeballs, the group exit Diglett's Tunnel. They suddenly hear growling.
"Is that a Pokemon?!" asked Jimmy.
"No, it's Ed's stomach." replied Eddy. The group look at Ed's stomach and saw that the growling sound was coming from it.
"I am famished." said Ed.
"We're almost to Konikoni City." asked Maxiley. "We can go there and have lunch at the Pokemon Center there."
"Good idea." said Edd. Maxiley leads the group down the direction to Konikoni City, Maxiley's hometown. What could await them there?
