Thrifty Megamart Trial (Part One)
The group and Captain Acerola are currently standing in front of what appeared to be an abandoned supermarket.
"So, this is where your trial is taking place, Acerola?" asked Edd.
"Yes." replied Captain Acerola.
"What is this place?" asked Sarah.
"This use to be the original Thrifty Megamart years ago; but it was built on sacred ground, which angered the guardian deity of this island, Tapu Bulu." said Captain Acerola. "It went on a rampage and destroyed Tapu Village; as a result, this Thrifty Megamart was closed down and another one was built at Royal Avenue on Akala Island."
"I do recall seeing the store there." said Edd.
"So, what do we have to do on this trial?" asked Jimmy.
"This store is haunted by ghost type Pokemon." replied Captain Acerola.
"Cool." said Ed.
"The trial is to use the Poke Finder function of your Rotom Dex to take pictures of ghost type Pokemon; if you take enough pictures, it will lure out the Totem Pokemon, then you must defeat it to pass my trial." said Captain Acerola. Edd takes out the Rotom Dex and looks through it until he finds the Poke Finder and turns it on. "So, which of you will be facing my trial first?"
"I will!" said Sarah, stepping forward.
"Here you go, Sarah." said Edd, giving Sarah the Rotom Dex.
"Remember, you are not allowed to capture any Pokemon in there until you pass the trial." said Captain Acerola. Sarah nods in response; she walks towards the store and enters it. She looks around the store and saw shelves that were still stocked.
"I wonder if the cookies here are still good." said Sarah. "Wait; no time for cookies, I have a trial to face." She begins walking around the market; as she walks by a cashier counter, a conveyor belt began to move by itself. "That's weird." She takes out the Rotom Dex and holds it out; she looks at it and moves it around while looking at the screen; she suddenly sees a Gastly above the conveyor belt. She turns on the pokedex of the Rotom Dex and points it at the Gastly.
"Gastly, the Gas Pokemon. Poisonous gas comprises 95% of its body. It's said that the remaining 5% is made up of the souls of those who died from the gas." said the Rotom Dex. She then turns on the Poke Finder and takes the Gastly's picture with it, getting its attention. Sarah puts the Rotom Dex and pulls out a pokeball.
"Mrs. Mime, go!" said Sarah, throwing Mrs. Mime's pokeball and releasing her. The Gastly turned towards them. "Okay, Mrs. Mime, use Psybeam!" Mrs. Mime fires a beam of multicolored energy from her hands, and it hits Gastly, dealing super effective damage and knocking it out. "Good thing you have that Odd Incense, Mrs. Mime." said Sarah.
Sarah returns Mrs. Mime to her pokeball and continues to look around the store; as she does, she notices a shopping cart moving around on its own. She takes out the Rotom Dex, turns on the Poke Finder, and she points it upward above the shopping cart; when she does, she sees a Haunter floating above the shopping cart. Sarah takes a picture of the Haunter; it turned towards Sarah.
"I'm not scared of you!" exclaimed Sarah, surprising Haunter. Sarah throws a pokeball, releasing Mrs. Mime. "Mrs. Mime, use Psybeam!" Mrs. Mime fires another multicolored beam of energy from her hands and it hits Haunter, dealing super effective damage to it. Haunter throws a fist forward, unleashing a shadowy fist from it and it hits Mrs. Mime, dealing super effective damage to it. "Oh yeah?! Mrs. Mime, Psywave!" Mrs. Mime fires light blue rings of energy from her hands and they hit Haunter, knocking it out. "That'll teach you to keep your hands to yourself!" She returns Mrs. Mime to her pokeball and continues walking around the store.
Sarah then continued to wander around the store for suspicious activity; when she gets to the back of the store, she sees a display shelf with a plush Pikachu and a plush blue, round, mouselike Pokemon.
"Wow, toys!" said Sarah and she walks towards them; she stopped when the plush toys begin floating off the shelf. Sarah holds out the Rotom Dex and looks around the area with it; through the screen, she sees a Gengar walking around in mid-air. Sarah turns on the pokedex function of the Rotom Dex and points it at Gengar.
"Gengar, the Shadow Pokemon, and the final evolved form of Gastly. Even your home isn't safe. Gengar will lurk in whatever dark corner of a room it can find and wait for its chance to catch its prey." said the Rotom Dex. Sarah turns on the Poke Finder and takes the Gengar's picture, getting its attention. Sarah pulls out a pokeball and throws it, releasing Mrs. Mime.
"Mrs. Mime, use Psywave!" said Sarah. Mrs. Mime holds out her hands and unleashes light blue rings of energy from them and they hit Gengar, dealing super effective damage to it. Gengar fires a black and red beam of energy from its hands, and it hits Mrs. Mime, dealing super effective damage to her. "Mrs. Mime, use Psychic!" Mrs. Mime becomes surrounded by a light blue light; Gengar becomes surrounded by a light blue light also; it explodes, dealing super effective damage to Gengar and knocking it out. "Great work, Mrs. Mime; you rest in your pokeball, I'll use a different Pokemon." She returns Mrs. Mime to her pokeball.
She turns to see a Pikachu running through double doors in the back of the store.
"Hey, a Pikachu." said Sarah and she runs after it and goes through the doors, only to find herself in a small, empty room with several drawings and posters of Pikachu on the wall, but no Pikachu. "That's weird; I know I saw a Pikachu run in here." A look of realization appeared on Sarah's face; she pulls out the Rotom Dex and turns on the Poke Finder, she looks around through it. She turned towards the double doors she walked through and through the Poke Finder, she sees what appeared to be a cloth Pikachu with a drawn-on face and a stick resembling a lightning bolt and a pair of eyeholes on the torso. "Is that supposed to be a Pikachu?" She then turns on the pokedex function of the pokedex and points it at the 'Pikachu'.
"Mimikyu, the Disguise Pokemon. A gust of wind revealed what hides under this Pokémon's rag to a passing Trainer, who went home and died painfully that very night." said the Rotom Dex. Sarah looks down at the Mimikyu.
"Seeeee meeee?!" asked Mimikyu.
"It can talk?!" asked Sarah. An aura suddenly surrounds Mimikyu. "I think I found the Totem Pokemon." She pulls a pokeball out of her belt. "Jolteon, go!" She throws Jolteon's pokeball and releases her. "Okay, Jolteon, use Thunder Fang!" Jolteon leaps at the Totem Mimikyu while her fangs became coated in electricity and bites onto it; but all that happened was the head tipped to its side. "Huh?" A shadowy claw came out from below the Totem Pokemon and slashes Jolteon, knocking her back.
"Jolteon, use Discharge!" said Sarah. Jolteon releases a bolt of electricity from her body, and it hits the Totem Pokemon, dealing damage to it; it suddenly begins twitching and becomes surrounded by static. "Looks like it's paralyzed." The Titan Pokemon pulls out a green berry from underneath it with a shadowy hand and eats it; the static electricity expelled from its body. "What was that?" The Totem Pokemon leaps forward and begins smacking Jolteon with its stick 'tail', knocking her to the ground; she struggles to get up. Sarah reaches into her pocket and pulls out the Electrium-Z Crystal and puts it on her Z-Ring. She does the pose Sophocles showed her; energy channels out of Sarah and onto Jolteon, making the Z-Power symbol appear on her.
"Okay, Jolteon, Gigavolt Havoc!" said Sarah. Jolteon holds out a front paw and a ball of electricity forms in front of it; she punches it and launches the ball at the Totem Mimikyu and hits it; it falls to the ground, unconscious.
"You did it, Jolteon!" cheered Sarah. Jolteon lets out a sigh of relief. Moments later, Sarah walks out of the store where the rest of the group, along with Captain Acerola were waiting.
"Alola, Sarah; I would like to check your pictures." said Acerola. Sarah gives the Rotom Dex to Acerola and she looks at the picture of the Titan Mimikyu. "Yep, that's Mimikyu, all right; congratulations, you've passed the trial." She reaches into her pocket and pulls out a light purple Z-Crystal that had the image of a ghost on it. "For passing the trial, I reward you with the Ghostium-Z Crystal." She gives the Ghostium-Z to Sarah.
"Yes! I got the Ghostium-Z Crystal!" said Sarah.
"To use the Ghostium-Z, you must do this pose." said Captain Acerola. She shows Sarah the pose needed to use it. She turned towards the rest of the group. "So, which of you will be facing my trial next?"
"I will." said Jimmy as he steps forward.
"Very well." said Acerola. After she explains the rules to Jimmy, he enters the store to begin his trial. He looks around and sees the first bit of paranormal activity; he uses the Rotom Dex to spot the Gastly and has his Umbreon battle it.
"Umbreon, use Assurance!" said Jimmy. Umbreon runs at the Gastly and strikes it with his front paws that had dark energy surrounding them, hitting it, and doing enough super effective damage to knock it out.
After that, he looks around some more until he finds the next bit of paranormal activity and uses the Rotom Dex to spot the Haunter and has his Umbreon battle it as well.
"Umbreon, use Feint Attack!" said Jimmy. Umbreon moves to the Haunter's left, then it disappears before reappearing on the Haunter's right and strikes it hard, doing super effective damage to it; the Haunter responds by launching a ball of dark energy at Umbreon, hitting it, but not doing a lot of damage. "Umbreon, use Pursuit!" Umbreon leaps towards the Haunter while coated in dark energy and slams into it, doing enough super effective damage to knock it out.
"Good work, Umbreon!" said Jimmy, getting a nod from Umbreon in response. "It's funny that before I learned about Pokemon, I would've been scared to be in here; I really changed thanks to my journey."
Jimmy continued to search for the Totem Pokemon before finding another bit of paranormal activity, making him use the Rotom Dex to see the Gengar.
"Umbreon, use Assurance!" said Jimmy. Umbreon leaps at the Gengar and strikes it with its dark energy-coated paws, doing super effective damage to it. The Gengar responds by hitting it with a gray, transparent fist that comes out of his own, hitting Umbreon, but not doing a lot of damage. "Use Feint Attack one more time!" Umbreon disappears, then reappears behind Gengar and strikes its back, knocking it to the ground, unconscious.
Jimmy enters the back room and sees all the Pikachu drawings and quickly senses something, making him take out the Rotom Dex and uses it to spot the Totem Mimikyu. Seeing that it was part fairy type, he didn't want to risk Umbreon, so he uses Lucario instead.
"Lucario, use Swords Dance!" said Jimmy. Lucario does some dance moves which increases his attack power. The Totem Mimikyu rushes at him and strikes it with its stick tail, not doing much damage to it. "Now use Metal Claw!" Lucario's left spike extends and it strikes at Mimikyu, doing a small bit of super effective damage, and make its head tilt all the way to the side. The Totem Mimikyu then shifts into the floor, then reappears behind Lucario and hits him in the back, making him fall forward. "Lucario, use Metal Claw one more time!" Lucario swings his wrist spike at the Titan Mimikyu again and hits it, this time doing enough damage to knock it out.
"Great work, Lucario!" said Jimmy. He exits the store and reports his success to Acerola and shows her the pictures he took.
"Congratulations, Jimmy!" said Acerola. She reaches into a pocket and pulls out a Ghostium-Z Crystal. "As proof of your victory, here's your Ghostium-Z Crystal." She hands it to Jimmy, then shows him the poses needed to use it. She then looks towards the Eds and asked who was going to attempt the trial next.
"Me!" said Ed.
"Very well." said Acerola. Ed then walks towards the Thrifty Megamart.
Sarah and Jimmy have passed their trials; now Ed is up next, will he succeed?
