Kurozai and Issei sat next to each other, with The Overlord sharpening his sword. Kiba stood at the back of the Class room staring out the window. Koneko sat on the couch and ate sweets with Akeno. Kalawarna summoned some Dark Spears and made sure they were up to snuff. Mittlet and Dohnaseek sat on the couch opposite of Kalawarna, Asia between them. Finally, Rias sat at her desk with her hand's folded in front of her.
Minutes were left before they all were teleported to the battle field. They all sat in anticipation in the Occult Research Club room.
Kurozai checked his sword and nodded. "Here. Toss this somewhere." Kurozai said as he tossed the whetstone to Issei.
Kurozai stood up and covered himself in his armor. The armor shone in the light of the setting sun, his crimson cape lightly fluttered as the wind from the open window next to him flowed through.
Kurozai could only think about how he was going to beat Riser as close to death as he was allowed.
Thoughts of slicing him open flooded Kurozai's mind. Using one of Riser's servant's as a weapon to beat him was a funny one. Then Kurozai remembered how he finished his new weapons.
Maybe stabbing him was on the agenda then blowing him up with the leftover-
Rias' head shot up. "It's time."
Kurozai was snapped away from his thoughts as he turned to Rias. She reached into the desk and pulled out a briefcase. She opened it up to reveal six clear chess pieces. A Rook, A Bishop, A knight and all eight pawn's.
"Kurozai, please take these Pieces and distribute them as you see fit." Rias said.
During the training, Kurozai had observed his followers and had already selected their pieces.
"Issei, you will take the Rook piece." Kurozai said, holding the case open for Issei to take his piece. "Kalawarna, take the knight, Asia, the bishop." The two female generals did as instructed and grabbed their pieces. "Dohnaseek and Mittlet, you two take two pawn pieces each and I will take the remaining." Kurozai finished his command.
With everyone's pieces in hand they all let Rias pour some of her magic into them. "They are ready to be inserted." Rias nodded. The six inserted their pieces into their souls. With the pieces now inserted, it was time to fight.
A loud alarm blared in the club room, signaling the iminant teleportation.
The room shone brightly with a white light. Then, when the light dimmed no one was left. Not even a speck.
Mirror World
The light dimmed and they were all still in the Club Room.
The Overlord was confused. "Uhh, did it not work?" Kurozai asked, confused as to why they hadn't been teleported somewhere else.
"Kuro, look outside." Kiba said, still looking out the window.
Kurozai did just that and balked. The sky was a swirling purple mess. "Where the hell are we?" Kurozai asked, confused and shocked.
"Welcome to the Mirror world. We use this place to nullify real world damage." Kiba explained. "Think of it like a place where you can destroy as much as you want with no consequences, then go back home and everything is as you left it."
Kurozai imagined himself being twenty feet tall and rampaging throughout the school in the mirror world. Then going back and everything was as it was before. "Oh! It's like the arena from the Dark Tower!" Kurozai summarized.
Kiba stared at his friend for a moment with a raised eyebrow. "Yeah I guess they are similar." Kiba chuckled.
A familiar voice spoke over the loudspeakers. "Today's Rating game is Between Rias Gremory and Riser Phenex. The battlefield will be a complete replica of Kuoh Academy, a human learning institution." Souna Shitori spoke.
Kurozai's jaw hit the floor. "Souna's a devil?!" Kurozai asked incredulously. Kiba patted his friend on the back as Kurozai's jaw came back from its vacation.
"Yep, she's Sona Sitri, and apparently Today's announcer." Kiba chuckled.
"Rias Gremory has been given permission to allow substitute pieces in the form of Kurozai and his entourage. In trade, Riser can ressurect six of his pieces." Sona spoke over the speakers. "With the announcement out of the way there is going to be a twenty minute prep period before attacks can commence. The home base of Rias Gremory shall be the Old School Building and Riser Phenex's home base shall be the Main School Building. Kings, your prep time begins now."
On the wall behind Rias' desk, a magic clock began to count down.
Kurozai pulled out a map of the school and laid it across Rias' desk. "So, with what little we know we need to plan around it." Kurozai grabbed a bag from his desk, full of small daggers and little chess pieces.
"Indeed." Rias agreed. "We can't go through the center of the field because they would expect that."
"In games of chess I try to move my pawns up as fast as I can to push the enemy into a defensive position. Think we could try Plan 34 with contingency 12?" Kurozai asked Rias who closed her eyes and thought for a moment.
Kurozai pulled out a map of the school and laid it across Rias' desk. "So, with what little we know we need to plan around it." Kurozai grabbed a bag from his desk, full of small daggers and little chess pieces.
"If we do that, what's to stop Riser from promoting his Pawn's then coming from the back to get us all?" Kurozai asked as he pointed out a flaw. "I say we use 17B with contingency 2. It works just as well and we won't have to worry about any stealth attacks."
Rias nodded. "It's a solid plan, bar the fact that we would be pushing way too far forward. But other than that, it could work."
Kurozai stared at the map for a moment before snapping his fingers. "Holy shit!" Kurozai cussed as he grabbed the daggers and began to place them around the table. "Plan 1 Contingency 1!" Kurozai shouted.
"The Pincer maneuver?" Rias asked incredulously. "Forgoing the fact that it's been done to death, why would you think to use this one?"
Everyone who hadn't been with Rias and Kurozai when they were coming up with strategies stood in confusion as they basically spoke in gibberish.
"But, we wing it. Watch." Kurozai moved up three groups of Pieces. "We send out three groups, each taking a portion of the middle ground. They fight anyone they see and beat them down! We leave Akeno on air support, striking down any stragglers and destroying areas that could be used against us." Kurozai explained. "If I were Riser, I'd hold my cards to my chest and keep any strong fighters close. Sending out the weaklings would give us ample opportunity to defeat them and lower his numbers."
Rias gasped in shock. "And then we'd outnumber him!" Rias finished for Kurozai, seeing the brilliance in the plan.
The world's most simple attack, Hit them from different angles. "But what about protection for me and Asia?"
Kurozai held his gauntlet up to his chin. "IWe can set up small green minion pockets in the forest to take out any stragglers who get past us!" Kurozai explained. "Then a larger Green Minion force to act as an protection squad... the only issue is that they need to have a general or Overlord commander."
Kurozai looked over the completed map with Daggers and pieces strewn about. Then to his two remaining ex-fallen... He looked between the two and weighed his options, before finally settling on his choice.
It was time for an On Field Promotion.
"Alright, let's lay down the law." Rias whispered before turning to announce to the group. "Everyone, listen up. We have our plan!"
Kurozai grabbed Mittlet by the shoulder. "I need to speak with you. Alone."
Mittlet nodded and followed Kurozai outside into the hallway of the building.
"We are performing a trident style Pincer attack. Three groups of two will be sent out to go and take multiple areas at once, denying Riser any leg room." Rias explained. "The group to the west will be Issei and Koneko. The group to the east will be Kiba and Dohnaseek. The Final Group to take the middle ground shall be comprised of Kurozai, and Kalawarna. Before we start however we will need to set up traps. Kalawarna, Kiba, Koneko and Akeno, I need you all to go set those up." The four left as quickly as the could to enact the plan.
-OVERLORD-
Kurozai kneeled before Mittlet.
"This is your only opportunity to take this gift." Kurozai explained as he held out a gauntlet bathed in a deep green color. "If you don't, I completely understand. But I am asking you here and now, will you become one of my generals?"
Mittlet looked at the gauntlet in apprehension. "Are you sure you want to offer it to me? Dohnaseek is an infinitely better general my lord." Mittlet spoke her mind. "What could I do better as the green general?"
"Your size." Kurozai clarified.
Mittlet grew a scowl at the unintentional insult to her height.
"C-Calm down, let me explain-"
-DXD-
"-Does everyone understand their roles?" Rias finished.
"Yes Ma'am!" Everyone practically shouted out.
The three devils and general entered back into the room through the windows, having finished their traps.
The door opened and Kurozai walked back into the room. Following him was Mittlet in a suit of dark green armor. "Meet the new Green General!" Kurozai announced.
Mittlet's armor was much slimmer and instead of a cape like the others, Her's had a cloak and hood. The standard Overlord helmet was replaced by a Great Helm with a grill visor with green fog rolling out. "A pleasure to join you three." Mittlet said with a curtsy.
"Alright, Mittlet, take the green minions and set up a perimeter in our backline, if anyone slips past us its their job to strike them down! Once you're done, stay near Rias and Asia. They are our most important pieces of the whole battle, so their safety is your top priority." Kurozai explained.
"It will be done." Mittlet said with a bow before leaving the building through a window.
"Kalawarna, with me! We're going to take the gym building." Kurozai said with an evil grin beneath his helmet. "Good luck to everyone else. Let's show that fucker what true evil looks like! Give! NO! MERCY!" Kurozai shouted and sprinted out of the building, Kalawarna in tow.
With Riser
"Break their spirits! It means nothing if we win without humiliating them!" Riser shouted to his servants. "And if you find him, bring me the Overlord… Alive! Yubelluna, I want you to take to the skies, take complete aerial superiority. Do not let anyone else into the air!"
The eldest amongst the small horde of females stood up with her hand over her chest. "Right away my lord." She said and flew away.
In the real world, Sona Sitri and her queen watched the teams begin to move out as the timer struck Zero.
"Let the Rating Game Begin!" Sona announced to all.
With Kurozai
Kurozai opened the back door to the gym for Kalawarna to slip through. Kurozai followed in and snapped the door handle off. Making sure no one could get in, or get out.
Once inside Kurozai planted one of his Overlordian Flags. Two minion gates opened up for Reds and Browns. A small mound rose up but stopped.
"Damn it. Come on Chip!" Kurozai spoke through gritted teeth.
"Sire, they are here." Kalawarna said as she watched the main doors open and four women walked in.
"There goes any potential back up." The Overlord sighed. Kurozai smirked and cracked his neck. "Showtime."
Spinning around on his heel, Kurozai folded his arms and let his cape flow in the non-existent wind. "Welcome! I hope your ready to die." Kurozai announced, his voice echoing through the room.
With Issei
"I kinda wish we got the gym…" Issei complained as he hoisted up an Overlordian Flag and planted it into the ground. A singular minion gate opened up for Brown minions.
"Well we didn't. Now suck it up and get some of your pervert horde ready." Koneko said, scanning the horizon.
"Yeah, yeah. Don't ride my shaft about it." Issei grumbled. "I need a horde of twenty!" Issei shouted down the hole.
Twenty regular Brown minions crawled out from the hole, some jumped out with a flip and others rode in on wolves.
"Aw fuck yeah! Thanks for the mounts Boss!" Issei smiled as he had five wolf mount's for his minions.
Koneko tugged on Issei's scarf. "We got company." She stated and pointed out to the field. Three female figures were slowly approaching them.
"Alright! Let's get to work!" Issei said with a thumbs up, his sacred gear glowing with boosting energy and the sound of a dragon roaring.
With Kiba
Kiba and Dohanseek walked in silence. Neither wanting to converse with the other.
It was a strange pairing, but once explained it made sense. Kiba would take close quarters combat and weaken the fighters. Dohnaseek would then take them out with spears of darkness.
A decent attack strategy, courtesy of Kurozai.
Kiba grinned as he saw a group of three figures enter the area he and Dohnaseek were set to guard.
"It's go time!" Kiba shouted out and charged forward with a sword of steel in his hand.
With Kurozai
Kurozai hopped down from the stage with Kalawarna and looked over the competition.
"Hey, aren't you two the twin's whose chainsaw's I broke?" Kurozai taunted.
"Yeah! I'm Ile!"
"And I'm Nel!"
"And we're here to tear you into pieces!" They shouted at the same time and pulled out new chainsaws with two blades.
"OOOOO! Sounds like fun! Hope you don't mind but we brought some friends!" Kurozai shouted and raised his gauntlet to the air and Red and Brown evolved minions poured out from the minion gate, twenty five each totaling to a horde of fifty.
"Kalawarna, take the one who looks like Chun-Li! I'll take on the Siamese Twins! Leave the one with the stick to the minions!" Kurozai commanded and unsheathed his sword. "Let's Dance!" Kurozai taunted as he dashed to the twins.
One tried to hit him with a downward slash with a chainsaw. Kurozai blocked it with his left gauntlet. Once it hit, the teeth broke as it grinded against a superior metal.
Kurozai used this moment of weakness to grab her by the face and slam her into the floor, creating a small shockwave.
Once one was down, Kurozai went after the next one, his sword catching the second chainsaw. "So! What's your favorite color?" Kurozai asked with sarcasm.
"What the hell are you going on about?" Ile? No, Nel? One of the two twins, Kurozai couldn't be bothered to remember which was which anymore.
"Oh come on! You gotta have a favorite color! Let me guess… Purple?"
"How about you shut up!" The twin shouted and broke free from the blade lock.
"Yeah. I don't do that. Pyros!" Kurozai shouted and a ball of fire shot out of his palm.
The twin dodged the fire shot, it soared and hit Kalawarna in the back. Not as though she felt it however as the heat absorbed into her armor.
Kalawarna was dodging punches with extreme ease.
"You are- HYA! Boring me!" Kalawarna insulted and kicked the rook in the chest.
"Mira! How are you doing against those creatures!" Xulian shouted out through gritted teeth as she slid across the floor.
She was met with a pained scream. "Mira?"
"One of Riser's pawn's has been retired!"
Xulian turned around in shock and slight horror as she saw the pawn be turned into blue shards as she was taken away to be cared for. The horde of Rock creatures and Red Draconics all turned to look at the Rook.
"What the hell?!" Xulian shouted out in confusion
"Oh? You didn't know? Those are evolved minions, they deal a lot more damage than their unevolved counterparts. Allow me to show you!" Kalawarna said and kicked the Rook in the back, landing her into the pile of Reds and Browns, she summoned her crossbow and fired three bolts of pure fire at the reds, making their muscles bulge with new strength.
Xulian was then subjected to what could best be described as burning hot torture and being crushed by boulders.
Kurozai was putting the hurt on the twins. The one he slammed face first into the ground had gotten back up with a vengeance.
Kurozai grabbed the head of the twin with no chainsaw again, and threw her into the other twin.
The collision caused the chainsaw to fly out of her hand's and next to Kurozai.
Kurozai smiled evily as he kicked it up and reved the chainsaw. He then began to walk up to the twins. "Who wants a haircut?" He asked, a crooked smile forming on his face, seemingly visible through the helmet.
The twin's looked at the imposing Overlord in fear and held onto each other.
Kalawarna interrupted her boss however. "My lord, we must hurry up. I just got word from General Hyoudou that he is under fire and requests assistance."
Kurozai groaned in defeat and dropped the chainsaw. "Damn it! Never get to have any fucking fun!" Kurozai shouted.
"One of Riser's Rook's has retired." Sona spoke over the speaker system.
"Alright." Kurozai held his hand up into the air. "Pyros!" he shouted and a fireball sailed up to the sky and exploded. "Let's go before Akeno destroys this place." Kurozai commanded. The minions followed him and Kalawarna.
The twins hadn't moved. Permanently frozen in fear.
With Riser
Riser's fist hit the table before him. "Damn it! Send everything!" Riser shouted. "I want his head in my lap before the day is over!" He yelled at spittle flew out of his mouth.
This Overlord was starting to get on Riser's nerves now.
Not only did he insult him in front of Rias. He has now made a mockery of two of his pawns and had his minions practically beat the two that joined them to death.
"I'll put him down like the rabid dog he is!"
With Issei
"Jeez! These chicks are hard core!" Issei shouted from behind a tree. "Guy's! Get to work already!" Issei shouted at the minions who were currently hiding with him.
A loud crack of thunder filled the sky.
"Two of Riser's Pawn's have been retired." Sona said over the speakers as the Gym collapsed.
Issei sighed in relief. "Hopefully Kurozai and Kal can get quick!" Issei spoke with fear in his voice.
Both he and Koneko were being pinned down by one of Riser's Bishops, who was using magic to fire out a barrage of bullets.
"Two of Riser's pawns and one Knight have been retired." Sona called out over the speakers.
With Kiba
The blue shards vanished as Kiba stretched his joint's. "That was a good fight, yeah?"
Dohnaseek did not respond at first. "Let us keep moving so we may decimate our enemy." Dohnaseek said, pushing past Kiba.
"ugh. At least I can always count on a fallen angel to be rude." Kiba spat with a scowl forming on his face, any sense of comradary vanishing as he remembered who he was partnered with.
"I am not being rude. I am just stating a fact. Standing around and talking will get us ki-"
An explosion erupted from underneath Dohnaseek.
Kiba was blown back from the shock wave.
"Two of Rias' Pawns have been retired." Sona announced over the speakers.
With Kurozai
"DAMN IT! Who got hit?" Kurozai called out on the Overlordian comms.
"Wasn't us!" Issei spoke through the channel. "But we would appreciate it if you two got here already! My minions are being cut down! And they just sent more pieces to fight us! HELP!"
"On the way!"
"Kurozai!" Rias called out on the devil comms. "Dohnaseek just got blown up by Riser's queen. I'd recommend watching the skies and keeping an eye out for Kiba. Last I heard from him he managed to get away."
"Understood. Kalawarna, go find Kiba and give him back up if necessary. I'll go help Issei." Kurozai commanded.
"It shall be done." Kalawarna said with a bow and flew away using her wings of fire.
Kurozai sprinted over to where Issei was and saw that he was down to just three brown minions who were tanking the shots.
"It's the Overlord!" one of Riser's servant's shouted out. Causing attention to be turned from Issei, to Kurozai.
Kurozai scoffed. "Didn't know I was on the wanted list!" He taunted. "But since you ruined the stealth plan all I gotta ask is… Who's first!?"
"I will fight you in hand to hand combat!" A woman wearing a mask that covered the right half of her face, said. "I am Isabella, A rook for Lord Riser." She announced and got into a fighting stance.
Kurozai looked at her in confusion for a moment before he shrugged. "Fine. But if we're fighting hand to hand, allow me to get these puppies out!" Kurozai shouted.
Kurozai's sword vanished in a purple light. "Let's go! Gauntlets!" Kurozai shouted as his hands were covered in the same purple light.
The light vanished and covering his arms were two large gauntlets with spikes coming from underneath where the pinky finger sat.
One spike had a split down the middle with teeth lining the split, while the other had a casing around it that contained other spikes.
"Alright! LET'S ROCK THIS JOINT!" Kurozai shouted and dashed at The Rook.

This is it ladies, gentlemen and everything inbetween or otherwise.
The first half of finale to the first Season of Overlord DxD!
To be honest with you. I'm more than just a little excited. This is the edge of the cliff, and once we jump, nothing will ever be the same.
This means that we sit at the moment where everything changes, and I'm going to be honest, I wont hold back on any emotion.
With that done and out of the way, next chapter is the final chapter of season, and then a bonus chapter right after that.
