Hello and welcome back! I know I have been gone for a long time and I am really sorry for the lack of updates on my stories. I will try my best to get back at them so please be patient. But in the meantime, I figure I can update this story since it is barely beginning. Now, I am a bit uncertain with the timeline with the Harry Potter series, but I am going to try my best to line up certain events with this story. This chapter will be a little different than the books and the movie, so I hope you enjoy it.

Anyways, let us begin!

Chapter 4

It was the morning of September 1 when Shaun was packing up all his clothes and supplies. He was very excited at the moment. It would be the first time in a long time that he will be going to an actual school! Granted that it will be a magical school, but still excited nevertheless! He received most of his education while he was in the Institute and a little more while living in the Commonwealth, but this will be the first time he will be with people his own age. He couldn't wait.

Shaun managed to send a letter to his family while also sending them extra parchment, ink and quills for them to send letters back. His owl, Grognak, managed to find his family and successfully delivered his letter. He still wondered how his owl managed to find his family. The letter mostly informed his family that he was alright, that he got all the supplies he needed and had to wait until he boards the train. His father managed to send a letter back telling him to stay safe, to study and to have fun. Though Shaun laughed when his father asked him if he really named the owl Grognak.

While he waited, Shaun also had the chance to get new clothes for himself to wear on the weekdays, so he got himself a decent amount of shirts, pants, jackets and shoes for him to wear while he attends Hogwarts. And since he doesn't want to stuff it all into his magical satchel, he bought a few suitcases for him to put his clothes in since it would be easier for him. Still feels nice to get fresh new clothes rather than wearing dirty clothes that were found in abandon houses. Granted that they were free, but it didn't mean that it was healthy to wear. Maybe he should bring his family to get them new clothes.

The last thing Shaun has done was practicing how to properly cast spells. While he practiced the wand motions, he was too afraid to cast any spells on the account that Hagrid's friend being arrested for underage use of magic. He asked the owner of the pub if it was okay to use magic and was relieved when the owner told him as long as they were basic spells and it wouldn't destroy his pub. While practicing, he managed to learn a few simple spells such as Lumos, Alohomora, Revelio and Wingardium Leviosa. But he knew he would have to defend himself in some way, so he only learned the Protego spell, Stupefy, and Expelliarmus. While it was only a few spells, it was better than nothing.

Packing up is suitcase, Shaun wiped the sweat off his face as he looked at himself in the mirror. He was currently wearing a black shirt with a brown jacket, light blue pants and brown shoes. He bought himself a pocket watch to help him keep track of time. He would have brought a spare Pipboy, but seeing how it doesn't properly work, Shaun thought it was for the best not to bring one. After waiting for a while, Hagrid eventually arrived as they both headed to King's Crossing. But as they walk by the trains, Shaun noticed that the platforms were 9 and 10 while the ticket that he had was for Platform 9 ¾.

Before Shaun was about to ask where the platform was while pushing the trolly that had his personal stuff, Hagrid led Shaun to a stone pillar between the two platforms and said "Well, here we are."

Confused, Shaun looked at Hagrid and said "But…we're not?"

"Oh!" Hagrid said as he motioned at the pillar, "This is the only way to the platform. Just walk through there and you're there. Would be better if you run though."

Looking back at the pillar, Shaun sighed and said "I guess…I will see you again at Hogwarts?"

"Of course!" Hagrid said, "I hope you enjoy your time at Hogwarts."

Nodding, Shaun took a deep breath as he pushed the trolly and sprinted towards the pillar. Just as he thought he was about to crash, he instead phased through the pillar and somehow ended up in another train station. Looking around, Shaun saw families seeing their children board the train while their stuff were being put in the storage cart. As he pushed the trolly, he looked up and saw that he was indeed in Platform 9 ¾ and was relieved to know he was in the right place. After finding a crew member and handed them his belongings, Shaun made his way into the train with his magic satchel and his wand in his possession. Walking through the train, Shaun was looking for a compartment to sit in but saw that most of them were already full as he saw his fellow classmates, both young and older students, hanging around. Eventually, he arrived at an empty compartment and he settled in as he took a seat close to the window. While he felt comfortable sitting, after a while, the train let out a loud whistle as it started to depart from the train station.

Seeing how no one was going to enter the compartment, Shaun figured he should close the door to at least give himself some privacy. However, as he got up and was about to close the door, a girl suddenly appeared in front of him. The girl had long ginger hair, blue eyes, has light skin and was wearing regular clothes like him.

Before Shaun was about to say anything, the girl looked inside the compartment and asked "Are you waiting for someone or you have room?"

"Oh!" Shaun said, "No, I'm not waiting for anyone. If you want to come in, you are welcomed to."

The girl let out a loud sighed and said "Oh thank goodness! Thank you so much!"

She then looked to her right side and shouted "Daphne! Blaise! I found one!"

Knowing her friends were coming, Shaun moved back to the seat as the girl walked in and sat in front of him. Just then, two more students walked in, Shaun assumed that their names were Blaise and Daphne. One of them was a young man with dark skin, a dark brown buzzcut hairstyle while the other was a young woman who had long blonde hair, green eyes and had light skin.

The girl, who Shaun assumes is Daphne, sat next to the girl while the man, who was Blaise, sat next to him as he let out a relief and said "Nice save, Tracey! I thought we wouldn't be able to find an empty one!"

He turned to Shaun and said "Thanks for the open seats."

"Not a problem," Shaun said, "I was a bit worried that I would be taking this train ride alone."

"Why is that?" the ginger-haired girl, who Shaun now knows is named Tracey, asked, "Shouldn't you be sitting with your House members or friends?"

Shaun nervously chuckled and said "Not really. See, I am a new student actually. I am starting Hogwarts as a fifth year."

The three of them stared at him in shocked as Tracey asked "Wait…like are you a transfer student or…"

"No," Shaun said, "Like this is the first time I am actually attending a magical school."

Daphne then spoke up by saying "That's…odd. I've never heard of anyone admitting into Hogwarts this late in the school year."

"Yeah…" Shaun said as he rubbed his head a bit, "My situation is…unique to say the least…but I am thankful I got the chance to attend!"

"Still, pretty strange for someone to attend Hogwarts late," Blaise said, "Were you born a Squib or something?"

"I…don't know what that means," Shaun said, "But I know that my family is, what you would call, Muggles. So…yeah."

The three of them then went silent for a bit as Tracey said "So…your parents are Muggles?"

Shaun felt their silence being a bit unsettling as he carefully replied "Well…I do know that my dad is a Muggle, but I don't know much about my birth mom."

Curious, Daphne asked "What do you mean by your birth mother?"

Knowing someone might ask this, Shaun replied "Well…my mother died giving birth to me, so me or my dad wouldn't know if she was magic or not."

Of course, this was only partly right. His birth mom did die when he was a baby, but his dad told him that she was murdered and he was kidnapped at a baby. To this day, Shaun doesn't know why he was kidnapped and his father didn't know either. He was still happy to be reunited with his dad.

After Shaun said that, Daphne merely nodded and said "I see…my condolences to you."

"It was a long time ago," Shaun said, "Anyways, my name is Shaun Sinclair. What are your guys' names?"

Tracey replied "Well, I am Tracey Davis."

She then wrapped her arm around Daphne and said "This is my best friend Daphne Greengrass."

As Daphne merely rolled her eyes, Tracey pointed at Blaise and said "And this is Blaise Zabini. The three of us are in Slytherin."

"Nice to meet you all," Shaun said, "And Slytherin, I am guessing that is like a club or something?"

"No," Blaise said, "You're new, so you get a pass on not knowing about it. There are four houses in Hogwarts that you can get sorted into: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. They are actually named after the four founders of Hogwarts."

"That's amazing!" Shaun said, "And how does the sorting work? Is there some sort of test or something?"

Deciding to mess with Shaun a bit, Blaise gave him a teasing smile and said "Oh yes. First, you would need to defeat this giant troll and…"

Daphne just rolled her eyes and groan and said "You are sorted by the Sorting Hat and it will determine what house you belong to."

"That simple?" Shaun said as he leaned back, "Not gonna lie, got really nervous when he said I had to fight a troll."

While Blaise laughed, Daphne looked at Shaun and said "Though you are in a disadvantage since you are starting late."

"So I hear," Shaun said, "I managed to get a month worth of studying before coming here. But you are right that I am behind everyone else."

"And starting the school as a fifth year?" Tracey said, "Especially since you have to take your O.W.L exams."

"I'm sorry, my what?" Shaun asked in shock.

"The Ordinary Wizarding Level exams," Daphne said, "It determines what classes you can take for next year for the N.E.W.T, or the Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Test. In short, you fail any subject, then you can't hope to take any classes next year."

Shaun sat there in silence and said "So basically, I would need to learn ALL of what I need to know for all subjects in the spam of one year and pass them so that I can continue my classes for next year?"

"That is the sum of it, yes," Daphne plainly said.

Hearing this, Shaun groaned as he covered his face in frustration. Tracey then giggled and said "Don't worry, if you get sorted into Slytherin, I am sure you can ask us for help."

"IF he gets into Slytherin," Blaise reminded her.

While the three friends all talked to each other, Shaun just stared out the window and reflected on his current situation. As he looked up into the sky, something caught his eye as he saw a small black object moving across the sky. It was too far to see what it was, so Shaun merely ignored it. As he looked back at his fellow classmates, he then noticed a boy walking past their compartment and quickly looked inside before leaving. The boy was about his age and hard messy black hair, green eyes and had glasses. The most noticeable thing about this boy that caught Shaun's attention was the lightning bolt scar on his forehead.

Blaise saw the boy leave and said "There he goes, The-Boy-Who-Lived."

"Just ignore him," Daphne said, "He is nothing by trouble. Especially since…they claim You-Know-Who isn't back."

Hearing this, Shaun looked at them and asked "What are you guys talking about?"

Tracey looked at him and said "Oh right, you grew up in the Muggle World, right? So you wouldn't know about Harry Potter."

"That's right," Shaun said, "So…why do you seem to hate the guy?"

"It's not really our place to anything," Blaise said, "Of course, people like Malfoy would love to voice their opinions about it."

Daphne then looked at Shaun and said "if you wish to know about Harry Potter, then you are more than welcome to ask about it when we reach Hogwarts. Fair enough?"

Seeing how this was a rather touchy subject for them, Shaun nodded as Tracey looked at her and asked "By the way…how are your parents feeling about it?"

Daphne sighed as she carefully said "Not good at all. Despite my dad…offering his generosity to people like Mr. Malfoy, they expect our family to join the cause. My father may support the Pureblood statis, but it's…it's because of them that my family is the way it is."

Sensing that she was a bit distressed, Shaun wanted to find a way to comfort her, but he doesn't know what she was talking about and didn't want to say anything to offend her. Daphne then looked out the compartment windows before turning to them and said "Can I tell you something?"

As both Tracey and Blaise nodded, she then looked at Shaun and said "I would ask you to leave so me and my friends could talk, but…of course, I don't want to be rude since you offered us to stay, so you HAVE to promise not to talk about what I am about to say. Say anything and I will curse you, got it?"

A bit scared, Shaun nodded and said "I promise I won't tell a soul."

Still giving him a suspicious look, Daphne then grabbed the blinds of the compartment door and windows and pulled them down so no one could see anything. She then moved her bag that she had on her so that it was in front of her and said "While my father was investigating any…alternatives, he found this."

From the bag, she took out a long silver metal cylinder that had weird designs to them. While the designs covered the entire cylinder, there was a strange swirl symbol in the center of it. As Shaun saw the cylinder, that is when he noticed that the swirl symbol was glowing blue, much like the crystal ball that transported him and his family to the past.

His thoughts were interrupted when Tracey asked "What is it?"

"I don't know," Daphne said, "And neither do my parents, and you know how smart they are. My father found this at Knockturn Alley and was confused by it. From what he understands, this container is made from goblin metal. My parents tried many times to open it, but they were unsuccessful. They wanted me to take this to Hogwarts in hopes to find a clue to what this is."

"Have you tried any of the unlocking spells?" Blaise asked.

"You think I haven't tried that?" Daphne replied, "Whatever magic is keeping this container sealed shut is something we aren't familiar with."

Deciding to speak up, Shaun said "Well…I don't know much about anything, but…did you or your parents examined the weird glow on it?"

The moment he said that, the three Slytherin students turned to him as Tracey asked "What glow?"

Confused, Shaun moved over to Daphne, pressed a finger on the swirl symbol and said "This one. Can't you see…

All of a sudden, the glow from the symbol traveled towards the ends of the cylinder and, to everyone's shock, the container popped open, revealing a strange looking wand inside of it. Startled by this, Daphne asked in a demanding way "Wait…how did you do that?! What did you—"

Crash!

The train suddenly shook violently as the four of them we thrown off their seats and fell to the ground. As they slowly got up, they heard the roof of the train cart being shredded open as everyone on the train was screaming and were running in both directions of the cart to escape what was attacking them. As the roof was ripped open, that is when they all saw what was attacking them.

"I-Is that a dragon?!" Tracey shouted in fear.

It was a dragon indeed. The dragon that was attacking the train had black scales, it's horns looked that of a Deathclaw, it had legs and had wings for arms and glowing red eyes. As Shaun looked closer, he saw a metal collar around it's neck and, to his surprise, he saw it was glowing red.

"That's a Hebridean Black!" Blaise shouted, "What the bloody hell is it doing here?!"

As the dragon was tearing the roof more, Daphne quickly grabbed the strange wand and the container, put it inside her back and shouted "We have to move now!"

Quickly moving, the four of them managed to get out of the compartment, but the dragon bashed it's head through the roof and tried to attack them. Fortunately, no one got bitten by the dragon as the three Slytherin students were on the front side of the cart while Shaun was in the back side. While Shaun reached inside his satchel, the dragon roared as it tried to bite onto anything as it was getting closer to Daphne and the others. The three students screamed as they crawled away as the dragon got closer and closer until…

Bang! Boom! Bang! Boom!

The dragon roared in pain as it's face was being blasted but a large explosion as it quickly pulled away. Looking at what attack the dragon, the students saw Shaun holding a customized handmade rifle that he himself modified. The rifle not only can switch between automatic and single shot and can move the scope for long or mid-range shots, but the rifle itself can fire explosive bullets. Though he had to be careful when he fires is since it might harm his fellow classmates.

Shaun walked up to them and asked "Are you guys alright?"

"We are," Tracey said as she and her friends got up, "But WHAT IS THAT YOU'RE HOLDING?!"

Shaun chuckled as he patted his rifle and replied "You really think my dad was going to send me to a new world unprotected?"

As he heard the dragon roar, Shaun looked up at the hole it made and said "We need to move now."

"Wait!" Daphne cried, "My sister is in the back cart!"

"Alright then," Shaun said as he looked at Tracey and Blaise, "You two head up ahead and make sure everyone remains calm. If there is any adult on this train, warn them of the dragon. Me and Daphne will head to the back and find her sister."

As they all nodded, Tracey and Blaise headed to the front of the train while Shaun and Daphne made their way to the back of the train. Along the way, he and Daphne encountered more students who were panicking and screaming. After struggling to get by and headed three carts down, Daphne rushed up to a younger girl and hugged her tight. The girl was about a few years younger than them, had long brunette hair and blue eyes. As the sisters hugged, the cart shook once again as the dragon dug it's claws in. When Shaun told the sisters to make their way to the front, both Daphne and her sister ran towards the front while Shaun followed them, but the dragon once again broke through the roof as he tried to bite anyone. Luckily, the sisters made it past the dragon while Shaun once again separated from the group. As Shaun saw the face of the dragon, the dragon looked at Shaun, growled at him and started to bite at him.

Shocked by this behavior, Shaun looked over at Daphne and her sister and shouted "The dragon is after! Take your sister, head to the front and find an adult! I will lead it away from the others!"

"Wait!" Daphne shouted.

But Shaun ignored her as he fired a few rounds at the dragon's face as he ran towards the back of the train. In order to keep everyone out of danger, Shaun would need to head to one of the storage train carts in hopes to keep the dragon there until proper help arrives. Still making his way through the panicked crowd, he heard the dragon roar over the train as he suddenly felt heat from the roof. Cursing that the dragon was indeed breathing fire, Shaun quickly made his way until he was in the back carts. He was thankful that there wasn't any student present, but those thoughts were pushed aside as he now had a dragon targeting him! Not even his first day and there is already a dragon after him!

"WHY IS THERE A DRAGON EVEN AFTER ME?!" Shaun shouted.

As soon as he shouted that, the cart he was in violently shock as the dragon soon begins to tear through the roof! As the dragon's face was inside the cart, it took a deep breath and spat out fire as it set the baggages and crates that were present on fire. Feeling the heat from the fire, Shaun flinched and moved back as he fired more bullets at the dragon. While the dragon was hurting from the bullets, they weren't doing any physical damage to the dragon! Shaun began to think of anything that could hurt the dragon and immediately thought of the Nuka Grenade that he brought with him. He swore that he would only use it in case of extreme danger, and seeing how he is being attacked by a dragon, it is a good of reason than any! The only problem was actually using it and being in a safe distance when the grenade goes off and if the grenade will be enough to harm it.

While he was deep in thought, the dragon ripped off part of the roof and it reach down and tried to bite Shaun, but it managed to bite onto his rifle. Alerted, Shaun let go of his rifle as it was tossed aside as the dragon took a deep breath. Seeing that it was about to breath fire, Shaun looked around to see what he could use for cover and eventually hide behind a wooden crate. However, the heat and power of the dragon's fire blast was so much that is blew up the create and knocked Shaun to the ground. He was a bit bruised up and felt his body heat up, but not to the point that he was on fire. As he slowly got up in pain, he heard the dragon ripping the cart more as it now had room to fit and it then tried to bite down on him. Scared for his life, Shaun threw up his right hand over his face in defense, when suddenly, a crate was launched at the dragon's face as it was dazed from the sudden attack. Seeing this, Shaun looked around to see who saved him but saw no one until he felt something in his right hand. He looked down and was shocked to see that he was holding his wand!

"Wait…when did I…" Shaun said as the dragon regained his sights as it growled at him.

No point in arguing, Shaun quickly got up and, by instinct, he aimed his wand at another crate, raised his wand as the crate had levitated over his head and he hurled the crate at the dragon, dazing it once again.

Surprised that he was able to do that, Shaun shook his head and thought "Okay, I know the spells I learned won't help me here. Bullets can't hurt it as much, throwing things can distract it, and I have only one grenade on me. Seeing how I can't damage the outside, I need to throw it inside the dragon. Hopefully that will work. But how…"

The dragon once again regained conscious and, when it tried to breath fire, Shaun was scared as he shouted "Expelliarmus!"

When he cast the spell at the dragon as it was about to breath fire, the flames exploded as the dragon roared and shook it's head. Seeing the effect the Disarming Spell had on the dragon, Shaun immediately had a plan on how to beat the dragon! Reaching into his satchel and taking out his Nuka Grenade, Shaun waited for the dragon to regain it's bearings and, once it did, Shaun began to use his wand to lift items and began to throw them at the dragon to get it riled up.

After a few throws, the dragon got frustrated and when it pulled back it's head and was about to breath fire, Shaun waited and, just as it was about to, Shaun shouted "Expelliarmus!"

The result ended like the last time as the fire exploded and harmed the dragon. The moment it roared in pain, seeing an opening, Shaun activated the grenade, threw it into the air and shouted "Wingardium Leviosa!"

Hoping he catches it, Shaun was relieved to see he did and, in one fluid motion, Shaun pulled his arm back and threw the grenade towards the dragon and, to his success, the grenade managed to go into the dragon's mouth and down it's throat. Seeing that his plan succeeded, Shaun quickly ran away from the dragon and dived down into a corner and huddled himself into a ball for cover. Once the dragon regained himself once again, the moment it tried to look for Shaun, the grenade then went off as it released a large explosion that explode to upper part of the dragon as bits and pieces of it shoot out as it covered part of the inside of the cart while some remained flew outside. The upper body and it's head was gone as it's wings were singed but still intact as the corpse fell to the ground. Feeling the explosion pass, Shaun carefully got up while partly covered in dragon blood and guts and saw the damage he did.

Impressed, Shaun nodded and said "Okay…I admit…that worked too well. Glad that is over."

Sighing in relief, Shaun put away his wand as he heard two popping sounds as he looked up and saw two figures standing in front of the dragon. One of the was a young woman with purple hair while the other one was an older man that had a staff, messy blonde hair and had a prosthetic left eye.

"Whonker!" the young woman cried out, "What could have done this?!"

The man then said "Why don't we ask the young man trying to sneak out? Huh!"

Stiffen up as Shaun was indeed trying to sneak out through the back of the back, the two people turned and saw Shaun standing there. Shaun awkwardly waved his hand and said "Um…hi?"

"Do you know what happened here, boy?" the man asked in a demanding way.

Shaun was nervous as he carefully replied "Well…would you believe me if I told you that…I killed the dragon?"

The woman looked confused and asked "You killed the dragon? All by yourself?"

"I don't blame you if you didn't believe me," Shaun said, "I know I wouldn't believe it either."

"How did you accomplish this, boy?" the man asked.

Shaun carefully replied "Let's just say that it was pure luck."

"And the spell you used to kill the dragon?" the man asked.

Shaun gulped and said "No spell, just…uh…good old Muggle technology."

Looking off to the side, the woman saw Shaun's rifle, picked it up and said "Holy! Why do you have a gun?!"

Shaun replied "It's for additional—wait, you know about guns?"

"Me dad is a Muggleborn so I know a few things in the Muggle world," the woman said.

"Yes, well," Shaun said as he carefully grabbed his rifle and put it in his satchel, "If you're worried about me using it, I only use it in extreme danger. And seeing how I was attacked by a dragon, it counts."

"Fair point," the man said, "Still haven't answered my question about the dragon."

Shaun replied "Well, what I used had…well…let's say I had enough to put that dragon down, but it was only a one use only this time, so you don't have to worry about something like this happening again."

The man gave him a cautious look before saying "Very well, since this was a dragon involved, we will overlook this. Regardless, a dragon attacking the Hogwarts Express? This has never happened before."

"Alight then," Shaun said as he carefully walked by them, "I will just head up to…"

However, the man grabbed him by the shoulder and said "Where do you think you're going?"

Feeling a bit scared, Shaun said "Um…am I in trouble?"

"Far from it," the man said, "We will just ask you a few questions and have you cleaned up. Dragon blood is valuable."

"That make sense," Shaun said, "I do feel dirty."

The man looked at the woman and said "Nymphadora, take this young man and have him clean off. I will speak to Dumbledore about this."

The woman, who Shaun heard the man called Nymphadora, glared at him as her hair suddenly turned red before the man suddenly disappeared into thin air. Shaun looked at her and asked "Your name is Nymphadora?"

She growled and said "Don't call me—"

"That is a really cool name," Shaun interrupted her, "Man, I wished my parents called me something like Jeremiah or Maximilius, but no, just Shaun."

As he chuckled a bit, Nymphadora playfully rolled her eyes and said "Come on, then."

With that, she held onto Shaun's should as they were apparated from the area as he was taken somewhere to get himself cleaned up.

Well, wasn't that exciting! I wanted to mix the beginning of Hogwarts Legacy with the actual book to give it a unique encounter. And before you ask, yes this dragon is the same one from the game. I know that dragon's live for a long time, and I figure, since we didn't fight the dragon in the game, I figure Shaun would do it in this story. And I know you will be like "Oh, but he killed that dragon so easily", well I figure he do that since we were unable to.

And as I said before, Shaun will be sorted into Slytherin, so I figure he meets Daphne, Tracey and Blaise before he is sorted into his house. But you might be wondering how Daphne got a hold on the container with the wand? You will find out next time! Until then, please review and stay safe!
