The file that reads "INCIDENT 0112182006" features a billiard ball.

Ruby: "We have incident 0112182006 up next."

The picture on the file shows a man lying on the ground lifeless, his hand over his chest as several other people have their hands on him.

Shannon: "You know, back in high school I impressed Ruby with a vivid poem I titled 'The Many Deaths of You', and that's how we started dating. On the other hand, this attempt at impressing other people went horribly wrong…"

Zoom in.

We open to see a gathering of bikies and their female partners in shock, gathering around the man from the file.

Date of Incident: 18 December, 2006

Location of Incident: Jack's Bar, Gary, Indiana

Unknown Woman: "Oh my God!"

Unknown Biker: "Call 911!"

Shannon: (Narrating) "911 is not going to be any help here."

Unknown Woman: "Oh my god!"

Unknown Biker: "Sonny!"

Shannon: (Narrating) "A lot of guys have died on bar room floors, but Sonny Hughes here checked out like no other. Rack 'em up!"

A rewind symbol appears in the screen's corner as Shannon backs time up to investigate what happened. After a few minutes have been rewound she sets time in forward motion again. We now see Sonny at a pool table covered with red baize, about to take a shot. He does so, and the people nearby cheer and raise their drinks. Other bikers and their female partners are seen socialising.

Shannon: (Narrating) "It was a typical night out for this bunch of bikers and their chicks."

We see Sonny successfully use the cue ball to knock the 1 ball into a pocket. The audience cheers.

Shannon: (Narrating) "Sonny here had a reputation for being the craziest dude on the street. So when his homies started calling out…"

Unknown Bikers: "Hey Sonny! Sonny! Do the trick, brother! DO THE TRICK, MAN! COME ON!"

Shannon: (Narrating) "Even though it was dangerous, he couldn't say no."

The bikers are all now cheering "Sonny!" in an effort to egg him into performing this trick.

Ruby: (Narrating) "If I may, like, interject for a second, certain people are more apt to be risk takers. You know, being more aggressive, les hemmed in by possible negative consequences, that sort of thing."

Shannon: (Narrating) "Indeed, Ruby-Tuesday. Sonny here was a fine example of such a risk-taker. His trick was quite the crowd-pleaser."

Eventually Sonny reaches into the pool table's ball return and pulls out the 8 ball, which he raises to his open mouth, pushing the ball inside.

Shannon: (Narrating) "He'd take a billiard ball, jam it into his big mouth, and swallow it halfway down his throat, and then using his throat muscles he'd roll it up and down his gullet."

As Sonny does this we see a bulge in his throat where the ball is. The bar patrons look on in a mix of disgust and amazement. Eventually he pushes the ball back up to his mouth and regurgitates the ball, now covered with the slimy sheen of mucus and saliva.

Shannon: (Narrating) "Then he'd squeeze the ball back up and out of his mouth."

The bar patrons clap and cheer. We then cut to Ruby in the office, her tablet showing a crude diagram of the human throat and upper oesophagus with a billiard ball, this time the 9 ball, in it.

Ruby: "You can swallow an object all the way down to your stomach or just hold it in the back of your throat. It's a cool trick, but it's, like, really, really dangerous."

Back in the bar Sonny reaches over and grabs the cue ball from the table.

Shannon: (Narrating) "Now Sonny decided to go for round 2. This time he picked up the cue ball."

The crowd starts cheering again as Sonny raises it to his mouth. He jams it in and forces it down his throat.

Shannon: (Narrating) "Bad move, Sonny."

Sonny begins attempting to force the ball back up his throat, but no matter how hard he squeezes his throat muscles it refuses to budge.

Shannon: (Narrating) "He got the ball down his throat…"

Unknown Biker: "Why's it so low?"

Shannon: (Narrating) "...but when he tries to squeeze it back up his throat, that's when things turned ugly."

Sonny clutches his throat and begins attempting to force the ball back up. The crowd's cheering turns into panic as they realise what is happening.

Unknown Biker: "You alright?"

Unknown Woman: "Spit it out!"

Unknown Biker: "Somebody call 911!"

Shannon: (Narrating) "Now matter how hard Sonny tried he was unable to force the cue ball back up."

Eventually Sonny collapses onto his knees and then to the ground.

Unknown Biker: "He threw the pool, man!"

Eventually Sonny's movements stop.

Shannon: (Narrating) "Now Sonny didn't know this, but when it comes to a bar pool table the cue ball is a little bit larger than the object balls. That extra size allows the cue ball to be fed to the return chute after a scratch to continue play."

A CGI shot prepared by Shannon shows the cue ball entering Sonny's throat, and getting stuck.

Shannon: (Narrating) "When Sonny fed the larger cue ball down his chute, it stayed there."

Cut back to Sonny, lying lifeless on the floor.

Shannon: (Narrating) "He had performed this trick a hundred times before without incident. He died without ever finding out why this time it didn't work."

WAY TO DIE #625

MIDNIGHT CHOKER

Return to the Sharuby couple in their office.

Ruby: "I don't know about you, but I am, like, not sticking anything down my throat willy-nilly. That's just begging for a Darwin Award."

Shannon: "Amen, Ruby-Tuesday. Next file please - your turn to narrate."

Ruby nods, closing the file and marking it before wheeling over to get the next one.
