Dear Reader,

This tale is not the one our textbooks would have you believe. It's a unique narrative, an earnest forewarning; what follows in these texts is a series of first-hand accounts of our times at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry through a war forged by legacies that none of us had any right to inherit.

If you are expecting a happy tale where everyone experiences their happily ever after in the end, turn away now, as this is not that story. If you think you know the story you are about to read, then I should warn you now to forget everything you think you do.

The wizarding world I recount to you in this text is one of darkness and despair. This series of texts is a collaboration between myself and other survivors of the Second Wizarding War. I invite you to delve into each of our complex perspectives, experiences, and outcomes. There were no grand heroes in our midst, only those burdened with a legacy to uphold and others who simply had no choice but to survive in any possible manner.

In the end, dear Reader, you will be left with no neatly tied endings, no polished resolutions. The world we inhabit is a complex tapestry of flaws and virtues, and this is a glimpse into the tangled threads that weave our lives together.

My story is one you have likely heard before, but what about the others?

Regards,

Harry James Potter*
