Chapter 1 - Grabbing up the pieces: United Earth Government
The founding of the United Earth Government(UEG) took place without fanfare or lengthy negotiations. It was simply said that the planet is now united and the temporary council is taking over the reins. The first two editions were mentioned. The first is that the UEG claims sovereignty over the entire planet. The second was the immediate transition to an all-out war against the invaders. Reactions varied, but were rarely negative, or at least negative towards UEG. From now on, there was only one side, UEG. All against the UEG were traitors to humanity who must be eliminated before they help the monsters in their next invasion. Survival instinct, wanting vengeance on monsters, and pain after losses, made such individuals nearly non-existent. This was followed by the newly appointed general commander of the United Earth Military (UEM). He announced that the first phase - 'Survival' is over and the war is entering the second phase - The Purge. We also entered here.
Prelude to the book 'Monsters, Demamons and Gods'.

"I understand you have some new information." - said the newly appointed commander-in-chief of the UEM, General Ulari Valk. The Estonian had served in the NATO command before the war and was one of the few remaining military commanders on the planet to know how to lead a coalition of armies of different nations.
"That's right, General." - said the scientist - "But they are not good."
"I didn't expect them to be." - Ulari replied.
"Anyway." - asked the scientist - "As you know, many laboratories on the planet are currently studying these creatures. We've made some terrifying discoveries. First, these creatures are originally highly genetically mutated. I don't know to what extent, but the most important is the degradation of the brain. Many places that normally in humans are responsible for higher mental functions have been damaged or even completely got rid of them. So too with many of their organs, which in many cases performed functions similar to ours, but were replaced. There is a very high possibility that these were once intelligent species."
"So whatever attacked us used a modified species of sentient beings. Have I understood correctly?"
"It's a theory, but yes. The second discovery isn't so much a species division, but a division into factions. In total, we managed to isolate 4 main and 2 minor. The 'Rubrum' faction is symbolized by the color red and heavy use of fire magic."
"Magic?" - Ulari interrupted in surprise.
"It's the closest we have to compare. Anyway, the Rubrum faction also has a very high resistance to it thanks to fire magic. Napal and other fire weapons are basically useless against them. Their use of flying creatures seems to be minimal, and many of their strengths aren't the most resistant to physical damage. However, they are extremely fast and their attacks inflict burns. There have also been many reports of these things shooting fireballs and creating tornadoes of flames."
"So it would be best to have extra machine guns against them. Possibly more grenades."
"The second faction, 'Viridis' as we call them, is green in color and extremely poisonous. Each of these creatures is a walking bioweapon. They are much slower than Rubrum but more durable. Many can shoot acid long distances. Even up to one kilometer. As they are walking bioweapons, such weapons are completely ineffective. The effectiveness of chemical weapons is greatly reduced but still work. Additionally, many of these minions have the urge to explode on death."
"In this case, units fighting them should receive increased amounts of anti-tank weapons and artillery."
"Correct. The third faction is 'Roseus'. She is characterized by a pink color and an interesting immune system. Direct hits from regular rifles are extremely effective, but area damage, such as from mortars, is much less noticeable. In addition, they are also resistant to chemical weapons, but fire weapons have a much better effect. In addition, they also use the cavalry equivalent in large numbers. Reports show that these creatures can reach 90 km/h and maintain this speed for at least an hour."
"So when fighting against them, focus on offensive weapons and direct damage. Indirect damage, such as artillery, will be much weaker. It is best to send IFVs and large numbers of infantry, but not tanks."
"The last faction is 'Caeruleum'. This appears to be the most magical faction, with some of these creatures even having energy/magic shield equivalents. In addition, they use the largest number of flying and shooting units. The damage will kill a man, the biggest ones can even destroy an IFV, but the armor of the tanks is too much for them. However, it can still kill the crew inside. However, their overall numbers are relatively smaller than the rest. Preliminary estimates show that this faction had the fewest minions, but they did the same amount of damage as the previous three."
"So when fighting them, you should increase the number of AA and elite units."
"These were 4 main factions. The other two are odd, as they can take on the characteristics of one of the four previously mentioned, but only in rare cases. The first is 'Nix', the faction generally has a thick skin and a small number of extremely durable units. The toughest average skin of all the factions and our standard weapons can only pierce them at 150m-250m. In addition, they mainly use ice magic. But they are also one of the slower ones. And also no resistance to toxins, fire, etc. Unless they adopt the characteristics of one of the main factions. Also no flying creatures."
"So the Air Force seems to be the best counter to them so that in the next wave, soldiers with weapons with higher penetration than standard weapons will come in."
"The last faction is the 'Antiquitas'. By and large, they are the most similar to us and in many cases are described as creatures from mythology, mainly Greek. It is possible that in the past such a portal opened in Greece and that's how they knew about them. But the most important thing is that they are basically the weakest faction when it comes to physical skills, but they are also the most diverse and use simple weapons like spears and axes. Within their groups, however, one should look for special individuals who are the Alphas of the pack or at least perform a similar function. Extremely dangerous."
"Destroy the alpha, then fight the rest conventionally."
"That's a good assessment of the situation. But we have a few other things. The third important thing is their susceptibility to religion. It seems that reading religious texts is painful for them, and holy ammo does more damage to them. Don't ask me why this is happening, there isn't a single logical reason for it, and we're unlikely to find one."
"So we should exorcise them?"
"In theory, it would be very effective, but a better option would be to bless ammunition, weapons, equipment, and troops. It seems that every religion is effective against these monsters."
"It seems simple enough to do. Are there any other important things?"
"As for monsters, no. But it looks like the radiation around the atomic bombs has returned to normal, so we can start re-settling in those cities."
"For now, we have more than enough apartments. Worse with electricity, heating, and sewage. Fortunately, it's spring, so we have a few months to prepare."
=location: Erbil, 6 days after invasion=
"No way." - said the representative of the Republic of Kurdistan, Ashti Sozda - "We have just regained our independence. We won't allow ourselves to be enslaved again by hostile forces."
"I see." - said Vakhtang Markarian - "But the global situation means that the UEG will need the whole planet."
The personal conversation between representatives of Kurdistan and the UEG lasted for several minutes and it was obvious that there was no way to return to the previous status quo. Although there were only 4 people present at the meeting, the representatives and their interpreters, the same tension made the room so stuffy as if there were 100 of them in the room.
"The Republic of Kurdistan will first ensure the reconstruction of the damage and securing the borders, only then we can possibly send occupation forces to our neighbors. Although we can negotiate some concessions."
"I don't have time for this, so just say what you want."
"Firstly, the recognition of the Republic of Kurdistan as a state with a territory defined by areas where the Kurdish population is dominant. Secondly, we want to be sure that none of our neighbors will attack us, so a full military and economic alliance. Third, we want the release of all political and military detainees."
"Considering all your neighbors are currently members of the UEG, I don't know how this is going to happen?" - President Armenia said with a smile.
"Wait, what?" - Ashti said in surprise.
"You do not know? Iraq, Iran, and Turkey are members of the UEG. The rest of the government and military have already agreed to it. Currently, the UEG controls the vast majority of Europe, the Americas, Australia, and Oceania, and to a lesser extent Africa and Asia. But that will change soon. As I said at the beginning, the United Earth Government claims ownership of the entire planet, so we cannot allow you to become an independent state. But I have an alternative that will allow both parties to reach a compromise."
After a moment of silence, Ashti said - "Go on."
"We can recognize the Republic of Kurdistan as an independent state within the borders you describe, but you will immediately join the UEG. You will have the same rights as any other Member State, but you will also have the same obligations. And we don't have time for the rare political goodies. Do you agree or not?"
"Will we be sure that no one will attack us?"
"Only monsters could attack you. Literally."
"Agree."
=location: Sierra Army Depot, 7 days from invasion=
As soon as the monster invasion began, the US-owned Sierra Army Depot became the number one priority for any US forces still holding out. Subsequently, the UEG made this the number 1 goal of the North American campaign. A site with over 10,000 combat vehicles and other equipment has been waiting for the moment of a major war between the US and any other power, and now the UEG will use them to expand its armed forces. Only one problem remained.
"How are we supposed to transport them all to the front? And how do we supply them? Our supply lines don't exist!" - said one of the Canadian soldiers.
"Our ships are virtually intact." - said the US soldier.
"But most of the ports are damaged or blown up by a nuke. We don't have technicians to constantly fix them. They are literally too technologically advanced!"
"Actually, Abrams is operated by quite a number of countries in North Africa and the Middle East, plus Australia, Poland, Ukraine, and some others. Transporting them there will help strengthen their armed forces. Alternatively, we can equip new units in the US and Canada, maybe Mexico with them."
"But with all that in mind, the Abrams is unlikely to be the backbone of the new UEG Army. He will probably create some cheap tank possible to produce huge numbers and easily maintain them. Closer to the older series of T-tanks from the USSR. Although, given the nature of our opponents, we should focus more on IFVs and APCs, and maybe even converting civilian vehicles into military vehicles."
"I will always prefer an Abrams or a Bradley over a Madmax vehicle."
"What are you doing!?" - shouted the officer who had just arrived - "The break is over. Get back to work and help load all that gear onto the trains."
"Sir, yes, sir!" - answered the soldiers.
=Location: suburbs of Moscow, 8 days after the invasion=
The combined offensive of the troops of Russia, Belarus, Finland, Estonia, and other NATO units was approaching its final goal. Following the main roads, highways, and railroad tracks, they destroyed groups of monsters at an unprecedented pace. But there was one problem.
"We have to retreat." - said NATO commander Marjatta Niskala - "Our forces are short of supplies. If the frequency of monster attacks doesn't stop, our people will simply run out of ammo."
"The supply situation of our troops is more than enough to destroy enemy forces." - said General Fjodor Antipov, commander of the Russian forces - "And the sooner we recapture Moscow, the sooner we can repair our railroads and improve the supply position along the entire front."
"Moscow has been destroyed with nuclear weapons." - said the commander of the Belarusian forces, Svidryhaila PlatonaÇ”. Due to the fact that Belarus contributed the least forces to this offensive, he was mostly ignored, but when the first two began to argue, he had to stand between them - "It will take months to rebuild the railway lines, even considering that for some reason there is no radioactive fallout. But abandoning the campaign and retreating now means abandoning hundreds of thousands of people who are fleeing the monsters toward our lines. Of course, I understand that NATO systems are different from those of the USSR, so it is Russia and Belarus that have to take the brunt of the fighting while NATO forces re-organize."
"We can always use tactical nuclear weapons." - Fjodor said.
"Our forces only got 3 of them, so we will only use them in the worst possible circumstances." - said Marjatta.
"And before you mention the possibility of using napalm, which we have quite a lot, our scouts report that the monster forces are made up mostly of the Rubrum faction, so this won't help us, only hinder us." - Svidryhail said.
"All right." - Fjodor said - "I will declare an operational hiatus for a week. That much time should be enough to replenish supplies and maybe some reinforcements will arrive."
"The Latvian and Lithuanian armies should arrive at the front in a few days, as well as the reformed Belarusian brigade, so yes, in a week we will be able to launch an assault on Moscow." - said Marjatta.
=location: Tica, 9 days after invasion=
Tica, a medium-sized city in Mozambique, was a strategically important junction of the N280 and N6 roads, as well as the center of the Biera-Chimoio defensive line. The reinforcements of the Madagascar forces, which had already dealt with the army of monsters on their island thanks to a nuclear missile from a China submarine, kept coming. In the city itself, the commanders of the Madagascar and Mozambican forces met to discuss the next campaign plan.
"The information from the stationmasters is clear." - Mozambican General Carlos Matsinhe began - "The next wave attacking this city will be here in 4-6 hours. We have a total of 2,000 soldiers and 200 tanks and armored vehicles here, and little air or ground support."
"And the enemy forces have 10 times that and belong to the Antiquitas faction." - said Madagascar General Andry Rakotoarisoa - "So I have a chance if we find and eliminate the alpha quickly. But without more troops, we will not be able to go on the offensive, and if the points of resistance in one of the neighboring countries fall, our frontline will collapse. The UEG wants to send us support, but the nearest thing to that is a few ships and maybe a dozen planes, and our armed forces have equipment from up to 80 years ago as their main equipment. That doesn't bode well."
"We have a total lack of reserves or additional vehicles, so we can field 3,000 barely trained soldiers by the end of the week, who should be able to shoot straight."
"Our paramilitaries are already training another batch of 20,000 troops and most of our ground forces are available, but the lack of transport means the next reinforcements will be in 2 days. Do you even have a functional government?"
"Yeah, we've managed to put together some guys who had official positions and are now leading the transition to anything resembling a war economy. Supposedly, they ordered spears to be made and distributed around the neighborhoods as a basic form of defense. Fucking spears!"
"Sir, a message from Beira airport." - said one soldier, and the generals quickly signaled him to continue - "At 14.32 local time, 12 UEG fighters arrived. 3 are equipped with incendiary, chemical, and biological bombs, 6 are equipped with cluster munitions and other bombs, while the other 3 are equipped with air combat weapons. They are currently awaiting orders."
"But it falls under weapons of mass destruction." - Carlos said.
"And that's what we need." - Andry said almost happily - "We can easily cut down half of these attackers with one plane equipped with WMD. Our forces should be able to handle 10,000. We can send another raid if needed."
"How we've degenerated," - Carlos said, looking down at the table - "We enjoy the use of weapons of mass destruction, like a child with a birthday present."
"You're not going to oppose it, are you?" asked Andry.
"No." - replied Carlos - "In the face of annihilation, any other option is preferable. By the way, has your government decided to join the UEG yet?"
"Yes." - Andry answered and started issuing orders.
