Well, my lovelies, it's time to update, and I have received a generous request from my esteemed fellow Klaroline shipper, mycutehamlet. And, as always, your benevolent author is going to fulfill her request, since I too despised the way Klaus was treated in last night's TO. With that being said, I shall go ahead with the latest installment of my one shot series. Thank you for your lovely reviews! Your support is most appreciated!

TO 1x07 AU.

Show me what it's like
To be the last one standing
And teach me wrong from right
And I'll show you what I can be
And say it for me
Say it to me
And I'll leave this life behind me
Say it if it's worth saving me

There was a feeling of uneasiness as Caroline arrived in New Orleans. Ever since Tyler left, making the declaration that he'd get revenge against Klaus, she had felt a bit unsettled and wanted to warn Klaus about it, as well as ask him not to kill Tyler, but compel him to forget about her and his mission. Her journey took her from the streets to the dense bayou, where her senses told her that an intense fight was going on. As she got closer, she saw who it was – it was Klaus and Tyler, and they looked like they were going to kill each other. Shit, that would mean that her plan would fail. However, she heard Klaus compelling Tyler to run away, and it brought a sense of a relief that she didn't have to tell him to compel him.

Thank God, she thought. For a moment there, I thought that I was too late.

Caroline was about to reveal herself when she saw Klaus vamp speed away from the scene of the fight. Curious as to where he was going, she followed him to a cabin at the edge of the bayou, where she saw Klaus looking at the body of what appeared to be newly turned hybrid. That was weird, when the hell did he make a new hybrid? He didn't even have Elena's blood, and besides, he killed the hybrids that Tyler turned against him, so who the hell was this new guy? She wanted to come out and ask, but she noticed two others. One she recognized as the bitch named Hayley. Great, just the one she didn't want to deal with at the moment. She had wanted to get revenge against her for snapping her neck at Christmas, but she never got the chance, what with all the hell that had gone on with the asshole known as Silas and his mission to commit suicide so that he could reunite with his true love on the Other Side.

The smooth, soft accented voice belonging to Elijah forced her to stay hidden. Great, first Hayley was here, and now Elijah? While his presence was a bit more tolerable than that of the were-bitch, she didn't want to take any chances of him seeing her.

Suddenly, Caroline gasped quietly as she saw Klaus sink his fangs into Elijah's neck. As she watched, she placed her hand on her own neck, remembering when Klaus had done that same thing to her. After that, she saw him leave and followed after him. She could feel that he was hurt, which explained why he had attacked his own brother, giving him the lethal bite of a hybrid that could only be cured by his blood. Judging by how pissed he was, it didn't look like he was going to cure Elijah any time soon.

She followed Klaus to a secluded area in the bayou, where she watched as he let out a roar and started throwing boulders into the distance. After the last boulder was thrown, Klaus hung his head as his eyes welled up, tears flowing down his cheeks. Caroline could smell the salt of his tears and came out of her hiding place, wanting to make her presence known. She reached out with her hand to place it on his shoulder, but stopped herself, thinking that he wouldn't want to be touched at the moment. Putting her hand down, Caroline decided to call out to him, knowing that he loved hearing her voice.

"Klaus?"

Klaus heard her voice and tensed up a little. Was it really her? Or was it just his hearing playing tricks on him? He closed his eyes, not wanting to turn around and have it be the latter and not the former. Caroline walked around to his front and cupped his face in her hands, wiping his tears away with her fingers. Klaus opened his eyes and saw her standing there in front of him, after which there was an awkward silence, as though he didn't know what to say to her.

"Caroline?"

The words came out soft, but she heard him, smiling at him and nodding. "Yes, it's me."

Klaus placed his hands on top of hers. "That whelp, he...told me that you'd hate me."

"That's bullshit," said Caroline. "He obviously doesn't know about the declaration you made to me about being my last love at graduation, or that I saved you when you thought Silas had attacked you. Klaus, I didn't want to admit it to anyone because I thought they wouldn't take me seriously, but I'm in love with you. Do you hear me, Niklaus Mikaelson? I said I love you."

Klaus smiled at her, tears still in his eyes. Hearing her say that made what happened earlier seem less horrible. Words escaped him at that moment, but then again, he didn't need any. Instead, he pulled her closer to him and kissed her. Caroline smiled against his lips and returned his kiss. In that moment, it was just them. No Tyler, no Elijah or Hayley, just them and the kiss they were sharing.

Note: Since I can't really think of anything else to put here, I will end this chapter. As I said in my first note, I didn't like the way Klaus was treated in last night's episode, and I fulfilled mycutehamlet's latest request.

Keep the Klaroline faith, my lovelies! Our couple will be together!
