Felt like updating today, so I'm going to treat you guys to a random AU where everything is Klaroline and nothing hurts. Thank you for your support throughout this journey. I know I've said this already, but it's fans like you that make this possible!
So tonight I'll ask the stars above
"How did I ever win your love?"
What did I do?
What did I say
To turn your angel eyes my way?
Mystic Grill – Saturday Night...
Caroline sighed as she sat at the bar, ordering a drink from the bartender. It was Saturday night and there was really nothing new going on in town, which was she was here to begin with. It was unusual for her to be bored on a night like this. She tried calling Bonnie and Elena, but there was no answer from either of them. That was weird, didn't her friends want to meet up tonight? Why is it that I have nothing to do on a night that was designated for fun?, she thought. Bonnie and Elena should've answered their phones, but there's nothing. I could ask my mom, but she's working late tonight. Then again, she works late every night, which isn't surprising.
No sooner did she finish her thoughts than a glass of champagne was placed in front of her. Wait, she ordered bourbon, not champagne. She got the bartender to come back. "Excuse me, but I didn't order this."
"I know you didn't." He gestured to the table behind her. "But, the gentleman over there did."
Caroline felt her eyes widen. No, it couldn't be, could it? Turning around, she caught the eye of Klaus, who was sitting at the table the bartender had gestured toward, giving the blonde vampire his trademark smirk. How did he know that she was going to be here? Then again, she didn't have to wonder that, since Klaus had his ways.
Grabbing the glass of champagne, she went over to the table, sitting across from him. "How did you know I was going to be here tonight?"
"Oh, come now, love, you make it sound like I planned this."
"Well, I do have some idea about your motivation for doing the things you do," said Caroline. "In either case, I am kind of glad that you're here. I tried to call Bonnie and Elena, but they're not answering their phones, so here am I, bored and alone on a Saturday night." She got up momentarily to show him the burgundy dress and black shoes ensemble she was wearing. "Do you think I got dolled up for nothing?"
Klaus smiled at her. "You look beautiful, love, as always."
Caroline forced a smile at his comment. Shit, why did he have to be so...so polite? She sat back down, sighing again. "So, what are you doing here other than watching for me?"
"Oh, nothing special," said Klaus. "I wasn't about to stay at home and listen to Rebekah's little tirades, so I thought I'd get out while the getting was good, as you say today." His eyes glistened as he then got an idea. "Come to to think of it, I think we both could use a little break from the monotony of this little town. Ever been to a bed and breakfast?"
"Klaus, did you not hear me when I told you that I've never been anywhere?" said Caroline. "I think that I would've remembered being at a bed and breakfast if I was." She raised a curious eyebrow at him. "What are you up to?"
"What makes you think I'm up to something?"
"You've got that mischievous glint in your eye, the same glint that Damon gets when he's got something brewing in that head of his," said Caroline. "So, answer my question, Klaus, what are you up to? Why did you express interest in taking me out of town?"
Klaus said nothing, just laughed and, after leaving a tip for the waiter, grabbed Caroline's hand and escorted her out of the Grill. As they walked outside, Caroline was still curious about what he was planning. She had never gone anywhere before, much less a bed and breakfast.
Outskirts of Mystic Falls – Later...
It was a little after 10:00 when Klaus pulled the car up outside a bed and breakfast place that he had had mentioned. It was a quaint little place, complete with a wrap-around porch. Caroline stepped out and looked at the property, impressed by what she was seeing. Shit, Klaus certainly knows how to pick his places. Something tells me that I'm not going to get regret coming here with him.
Klaus noticed the look on her face as he stepped out. "I take it you like what you see?"
"Yeah, I do," she replied. "The outside is very impressive."
"If you think the outside is impressive, wait until you see the inside."
Caroline watched him go toward the door and immediately followed after him, catching up to him as he rang the doorbell. As they waited for the owner to open the door, she said, "I suppose you're going to compel the owner to let us in?"
Klaus smiled. "You know me too well, love."
He didn't give her a chance to answer because the door opened and the owner of the place, a kindly woman in her early fifties, answered it. She smiled at the couple, as though the fact that they were vampires didn't worry her in the slightest.
"May I help you two?"
"Yes, you certainly may," said Klaus. "My girlfriend and I were traveling around and we were looking for a place to spend the night. It's a bit of a long drive back to town and because I don't want to get into an accident should I fall asleep at the wheel, we decided that it was best that we see if you have room at your lovely little establishment for us."
The woman looked at them and after a few minutes, she nodded. "I think I can find you two a room. Come on in and I'll look at the log."
Klaus took Caroline's hand and they stepped over the threshold. Once they were inside, Caroline was amazed by all the random knickknacks that decorated the place. Truth be told, it reminded her of her grandmother's house. The woman looked through the log and when she came to an empty spot, she gave them a smile.
"Turns out there was a last minute cancellation, because I have a vacant room for you."
"Ah, excellent," said Klaus. "We can't tell you how much we appreciate this." He looked at Caroline. "You hear that, love? There's a room for us."
"That's great," said Caroline. "In fact, it's the best news we've gotten all day."
Once Klaus paid for the room and got the key, he escorted Caroline upstairs. When they got to the room, they liked it right away. It was absolutely perfect for them, because it resembled a royal suite, even if it wasn't quite as elaborately decorated. Caroline looked around and then looked back at Klaus.
"Did you have this planned?" When he didn't answer, she added, "Klaus, did you plan this?"
Klaus smiled and laughed slightly. "All right, you caught me. I may have had this all planned in advance, from the meeting at the Grill to the trip out here. You can't really blame me for wanting to make this a Saturday night you're sure to remember for all eternity, can you?"
Caroline laughed as well. "No, I suppose I can't." She sighed. "So, now that we've got the room, what do you think we should do?"
Klaus pulled her into his arms. "Oh, I can think of a few things."
Then, before Caroline could answer him, he kissed her passionately, running his fingers through her hair. Caroline returned his kiss and wrapped her arms around his neck, deepening the kiss and moaning against his mouth as their tongues danced against each other.
Note: Here's another update for you. I'm kind of beat, so I left it open. There's no new TO this week, which sucks. :( Anyway, enjoy what I gave you, lovelies!
