I hope you had a very wonderful Christmas, my lovelies! I thought I'd update my one shot series, since I'm not very tired tonight for some reason. Anyway, thank you for the reviews! Klaroline will happen! Hold on to the faith!

I want to reconcile the violence in your heart
I want to recognise your beauty's not just a mask
I want to exorcise the demons from your past
I want to satisfy the undisclosed desires in your heart

Caroline stood in the gym, surveying what had happened here tonight. It was supposed to be Senior Prank Night, a rite of passage for the new seniors at Mystic Falls High School, something they had been dreaming about since freshman year. However, said rite of passage was disrupted when Klaus and Rebekah stormed in and took over, killing a few innocent students in the process. She had seen what had unfolded, and yet, she couldn't do anything about it. She wasn't human anymore, and yet, she could do nothing to stop what had happened. What the hell good did it do to be immortal if this was what came with it?

"I really don't see why you're worried, love."

That familiar accented voice belonging to Klaus startled her out of her reverie and she turned to look at him. Shit, it was hard not to go over to him, grab his necklaces, and kiss his gorgeous lips as hard as she could. "Of course you don't. They were insignificant compared to you. You cared nothing about their lives as you violently cut them down."

"I'm over a thousand years old," he replied. "Do you honestly expect me to stop and reflect on what I've done?" He approached her. "And, as I said, you have an advantage over them. You're a vampire, you can easily start over, whereas they can't because they're humans."

Caroline didn't answer, just thought about what he was telling her. It was true that she had a clear advantage over everyone else, having a vampire for almost a year now, and she could easily repeat everything, just like in Twilight, where they graduated from high school over and over again, keeping a collection of graduation as a "private joke," as Edward mentioned to Bella.

"True as that is, I still didn't like what happened here tonight," she said after a while. "This was a rite of passage, something I've dreamed about since I was human. I wanted to experience that, but did I? No, because you had to barge in and show everyone just how tough you are by cutting innocent lives down when they barely had a chance to live."

Klaus crossed his arms. "Why? Just so they could another brief period before dying months later in car accidents? Caroline, I did them a favor."

Caroline scoffed and rolled her eyes. Obviously, she wasn't getting anywhere with this conversation, so she just walked out of the gym, heading toward the lockers. She didn't get far, however, because she felt herself being pushed against the lockers and looked in front of her to see Klaus holding her arms tightly. Not liking this at all, she growled as she struggled against his hold, which only made him tighten it.

"Damn it, Klaus, let me go!" she said. "I'm warning you, if you don't let me go right now, I'll do something I'll regret!"

"Oh, really?" he replied. "And what might that be, love? Enlighten me."

"I'll bite you and then I'll kick you where the sun where the sun don't shine, maybe even both in that order."

Klaus laughed at her threat. "That's cute, Caroline, but you forget that I can easily rip your heart out of your pretty little chest and watch as you bleed to death. Or I can bite you and you'll experience an agonizing death as the venom courses through your veins."

Caroline tried not to be afraid as she replied, "Then why haven't you done it? If you can do those things to me, why is it that you haven't ripped my heart out or bitten me? Tell me that, Mr. All Powerful Hybrid!"

"For some reason, I think you're worth more to me alive than dead," said Klaus. "I don't know why, but I can't bring myself to harm even a hair on your blonde head." He gently brushed her cheek with his finger. "I've met many a baby vampire in my ten centuries on this earth, but none of them have beguiled me like you have."

Caroline didn't know what to make of what he was saying to her. Is he...complimenting me? It sure seems like it, even though I never thought that someone like Klaus is capable of complimenting anyone, let alone someone like me.

However, she never got to say anything because the next thing she felt was his lips on hers. Shit, was he...he was, he was KISSING her! Not sure why she was doing it and unable to stop herself, she kissed him back, moaning as he forced his tongue into her mouth, exploring it as her tongue collided with it. A few minutes passed before they broke the kiss, looking into each others' eyes. There was a silence between them until Caroline decided to speak.

"What...What the hell just happened?"

"I believe it was kissing, love."

"I know that," she replied. "But, why did you kiss me? Is it because you're 'beguiled' by me? Or is it something else?"

"To be honest, Caroline, I really don't know," said Klaus. "It's strange, because I've never felt something like this before."

"Never?" said Caroline. "Not even once?"

"Until tonight? No," said Klaus. "Damn it, Caroline Forbes, why do you I intrigue me so?"

Caroline didn't answer, even though she wondered the exact same thing. However, she couldn't keep quiet as she finally said, "You tell me, because I'm just as confused as you are."

Instead of giving her a verbal reply, Klaus kissed her again. This was indeed a very strange evening for them both, and yet, they had a feeling that it wouldn't be the last.

Note: Yeah, don't ask where this idea came from, I just thought I'd make a one shot based on 3x05, even though it wasn't really a Klaroline episode. Still, I couldn't resist the temptation. Stay tuned, my lovelies, and have a blessed 2014! :)
