Hello, my lovelies! Thought I'd update "Eternal Flame," as well as "Stolen Moments." Hope you guys had a Happy New Year, and, as a special treat, I'm going to give you guys a new one shot. Keep the Klaroline faith and, hopefully, we will have some Klaroline action this year!
Don't wanna close my eyes
I don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream would never do
I'd still miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
Klaus smiled to himself as he put the final touches on the special surprise he was planning for Caroline. It was Valentine's Day, and, even though he thought the holiday was overly commercialized, he wanted to make sure that Caroline was treated the way every woman on this particular holiday would want to be treated. Knowing the blonde vampire as he did, she would want something spectacular, so he would have to make sure that was what she got. After all, there was nothing Klaus wouldn't do for the girl he loved.
Just as he was finishing up, he heard his cell phone ring. He reached into his pocket and took it out. When he saw Caroline's name on the screen, another smile came to his face. He knew he was going to hear from her eventually.
"Caroline, I know you'd call me."
"Well, judging from the fact that you have my number on speed dial, I'll bet you did," she replied. "Anyway, I thought I'd call to let you know that I'm looking forward to having Valentine's Day with you. I got something extra special for you." She caught him before he could ask what it was. "Ah, ah, ah, I'm not revealing it until I see you. It's a surprise."
Klaus pouted on his end, even though she couldn't see through the phone. "Well, I guess I'll have to wait until then to get my surprise. And I think you're going to love what I have in store for us, love."
"I hope you didn't do anything too elaborate. I know that I want to treated like any other lady would want to be treated on Valentine's Day, but I also don't want you to go too overboard."
"I think that's for me to know and you to find out."
"I'm serious, Klaus."
"So am I," said Klaus. "Go back to your shopping, sweetheart, and I shall see you soon."
Before Caroline could reply, he quickly hung up and placed his phone back into his pocket, after which he went upstairs to shower and get ready for when Caroline came by for their Valentine's Day celebration.
Later...
When Caroline walked into the mansion, wrapped in her coat to conceal the "surprise" she had underneath, she found the place decorated with red roses and candles burning everywhere. Shit, he was doing just the opposite of what she told him on the phone.
Isn't that just like a man?, she thought. You tell them to do one thing and they do the opposite. Oh, well, guess I'll just have to go along with whatever he's got planned for me.
"I hope that the candles weren't too much."
Klaus' voice startled her out of her reverie and she turned to smile at him. "No, they're perfect." She got a glimpse of the black suit he was wearing as he approached her. "And, you...you're perfect as well. Damn you, Klaus, why is it that I can never stay mad at you when you show up looking like you're ready to go to a formal banquet?"
"You may have said not to go overboard, but you should know by now that when I do something, I do it in style," said Klaus. "Nothing but the best for you."
Caroline took another look around at the décor. He did have a point about doing something in style, and he really had good taste for someone who has been around since the medieval period. Klaus then held out his hand and led her into the parlor, where she saw an easel that was covered by a cloth. If she was seeing that, that meant he had done a painting of her that he was going to give her as part of her Valentine's Day present.
"Niklaus Mikaelson, you've outdone yourself," she said. "Judging from the easel in the center of the room with a cloth over it, I'd say that you created yet another masterpiece."
"You guessed correctly, love," he replied. "I've been working on it for weeks, and I think you're going to love it."
He sat her down on the couch and then went over to the easel, taking the cloth off to reveal what he had done: a painting of her in different dresses. The first (in the middle) was the blue gown she wore he held here, followed by the red flapper dress she wore to the 20s Decade Dance (in the upper right), the dress she wore to the Miss Mystic Falls pageant (lower right), the white dress she wore to the Christmas festival (upper left), and the white prom dress he had given her (lower left).
"Oh my God. I can't believe you did all that."
"Does that you like it?"
"Like it? I love it," said Caroline. "You're amazing, and you captured every detail so perfectly."
Getting up, she vamp sped over to him and wrapped her arms around him, kissing him passionately. Klaus smiled against her lips and returned her kiss. After a few minutes, Caroline stepped back and broke the kiss, looking into his greenish blue eyes with her blue ones. "I think you've earned your surprise."
Before he could guess what it was, she pulled out of their embrace, opened her coat, and revealed a red silk nightie underneath. Klaus smiled and licked his lips. He had to admit, this was a very nice surprise indeed. He watched her peel the coat off and throw it on the floor, smiling at him.
"My word, Caroline," he said finally. "You look ravishing."
"Happy Valentine's Day, Niklaus," she replied. "You like?"
Klaus went over to her and embraced her. "How's this for an answer?"
Then, he pulled her close to him and kissed her just passionately as she had kissed him earlier, only a bit more passionately. Caroline returned the kiss willingly and led them over to the couch, still wrapped up in what they were doing.
Note: Yeah, since New Year's is over, I figured that I'd do a Valentine's Day one shot featuring our couple. I'll do the same thing for "Stolen Moments." Enjoy, lovelies!
