Hello, lovelies! I just got inspired to update "Eternal Flame" while taking a bath yesterday. It's a random Klaroline AU and it was something I couldn't resist. Thank you for the reviews and continued support! We will have our day, just keep the Klaroline faith!

Caroline sighed as she watched Klaus sleep across from her in his bed. They had just spent the night together and it had been the most magical night of their lives. Still, she knew reality would have to sink in eventually and she would have to leave. Carefully, she got up out of bed and put on her underwear and the black dress she had worn last night. Once she was dressed, she grabbed her shoes and heard a grunt as she was about to leave, startling her a bit.

Oh no, I hope he's not waking up, she thought. If he wakes up, he's going to want me to stay. Please, Klaus, don't wake up, just stay asleep.

Thankfully, the blonde vampire's fears were unfounded as she then saw Klaus shifting a bit before settling back down. Letting out a quiet sigh of relief, Caroline blew him a kiss before heading out of the door, closing it behind her. Once safely in the hallway, she vamp sped down the grand staircase and toward the front door.

"I hope you weren't leaving without saying good-bye, Miss Forbes."

Biting back a curse, Caroline turned around and saw Elijah standing there, flanked by Rebekah and Kol. Shit, now what was she going to do? She thought that she was going to be able to sneak out before anyone noticed her, but that seemed to be too much to hope for.

"I want you to know that I'm not using Klaus as a booty call," she said. "We made a deal when we started this relationship that we would never use each other for our personal gain."

"Well, that's good to know," said Rebekah. "It would be a shame to have to tear your pretty little heart out and watch as you bleed to death."

Elijah gave his sister a warning glare. "Rebekah, be nice. Niklaus wouldn't like it if I told him you were threatening his lady like that." He then looked back at Caroline. "You really must excuse Rebekah, my dear. She tends to be very possessive, especially when it comes to our brother."

"Well, you can tell her that she has nothing to worry about," said Caroline. "As I said before, we're serious about how we feel."

Kol smirked and grabbed her hand, kissing her knuckles. "I must say, Niklaus has impeccable taste if he's got a girl like you on his arm. Tell me, love, are there more like you?"

"Kol, stop it," said Elijah. "Miss Forbes is embarrassed enough as it is without you saying anything."

Caroline gave Elijah a smile in appreciation for coming to her aid. I'll say this for Elijah, he certainly knows how to keep his siblings in line.

No sooner did she complete her thought than Klaus was seen coming downstairs, shirtless and wearing the pants he wore from last night. He had discovered her gone and wanted to catch her before she walked out the door. When he saw Kol holding her hand, he immediately got territorial and shoved his brother to the floor.

"Touch her again and I'll rip your arm off!"

"Niklaus, stand down," said Elijah. "He wasn't doing anything to harm her. He was simply saying hello."

Klaus glared at Elijah. "He should still mind his manners."

Caroline came in between the two of them. "Klaus, stop it. I know that you're protective of me, and I love you for it, but nothing was going to happen, especially not with Elijah here to keep Kol in check."

"We caught your little girlfriend trying to sneak out," said Rebekah. "Exactly when were you planning on introducing her to the family, Nik? Are you that ashamed of us that you'd rather pretend that we don't exist?"

"I was going to introduce her to you at the appropriate time, Rebekah," said Klaus. "Catching her trying to leave in the morning isn't the appropriate time."

Not giving his sister a chance to defend herself, Klaus took Caroline's hand and escorted her outside so that they could have some privacy. They found a spot in the garden and sat down. After a few minutes of silence, Caroline spoke first.

"Even though you didn't have to do what you did, I still appreciate you coming to my rescue like that."

"I didn't want them to embarrass you," he replied. "After all, you were trying to sneak out undetected." He looked at her curiously. "Why were you trying to sneak out?"

"It wasn't that I didn't want to stay, believe me, I did," said Caroline. "I just...didn't want my mom to get too worried and send her deputies here to arrest you for kidnapping me." She then quickly added, "Though, that probably would've resulted in bloodshed."

Klaus nodded and then ran his finger up and down her arm. "I still would have enjoyed a morning after. Or, perhaps, a proper kiss before you walked out."

"I'm sorry," said Caroline. "I hoped that you wouldn't take it the wrong way. I loved what we did last night, really I did, and..."

She never got to finish what she was about to say because Klaus captured her lips with his in a soft kiss. Caroline didn't resist him and returned his kiss, playfully nibbling on his bottom lip, which sent a shiver up her spine at how wonderful the moment they were having felt. As the kiss deepened, Klaus brought his hand up and gently stroked her cheek, earning him a moan from her until she pulled back, looking into his greenish blue eyes with her blue ones.

"Is it my imagination or was that just as good as the kiss that resulted in us having hot, hybrid sex in your bed?"

"I'd say it was the latter," said Klaus. "Though, I do agree with you about the sex being hot."

Caroline laughed and kissed him again. "Seriously, I have to get home. I enjoyed myself and everything, but I really have to leave before I regret staying."

She got up and went toward her car, Klaus following after her. A laugh escaping from her lips as she saw him following her, Caroline got to her car and before she could get in, she felt him pushing her against it and kissing her passionately, running his hands all over. Caroline returned his kiss and slowly moved toward the door. She succeeded in getting inside and shutting the door, rolling down the window after she started the engine.

"I'll call you later."

Klaus smiled. "I'll stay by the phone the whole time."

Laughing again, Caroline then drove away from the Mikaelson mansion, already reliving the wonderful time she had with the Original hybrid.
