Well, my lovelies, just got a request from mycutehamlet that I will include in both "Eternal Flame" and "Stolen Moments." Thank you for the reviews and everything so far. I love you all! Here is the request for "Eternal Flame."
5x11 AU.
And I'm in so totally
Wrapped up emotionally
Attracted so physically
Actin' so recklessly
I need you so desperately
Sure as the sky is blue
Baby I love you
I love you
The sun was setting around them as Caroline and Klaus got their clothes back on after they had spent a good part of the day giving into the passion that had been fermenting for a long time. Even though she tried to tell herself that it was only because he had promised to leave, Caroline found it difficult to believe it. Who the hell was she kidding here? She obviously loved the Original hybrid, and yet, she was in such denial. Did she want to keep her friends that badly that she would deny something she knew was the truth?
"You're awfully quiet over there, love. Anything the matter?"
Klaus' voice startled her out of her reverie and she turned to see him looking at her with those gorgeous greenish blue eyes of his. Shit, why couldn't she just forget about that stupid promise he made and ask him to take her to New Orleans with him? Whitmore wasn't the only college out there. There were plenty of schools she could attend in New Orleans, and she wouldn't mind at all, especially if it meant seeing Klaus every day.
"I...I don't want you to go," she said. "You may have said that you'd walk away and never come back, but maybe that's not what I want, and I'm not just saying that to get you to change your mind, I'm being serious here. Now that I've realized my feelings for you, I don't want to lose you."
Klaus listened to her speak and, even though she may have been trying to conceal it, she looked like she was about to cry. He pulled her into his arms and hugged her. "I never said that we would never see each other again, Caroline. My invitation to come to New Orleans still stands."
"It does?"
"Of course," said Klaus. "Just because I'm not going to return here to Mystic Falls, that doesn't mean that you can't go to New Orleans. You'll love it there. There's plenty of food, art, music, and culture. I'd be more than happy to give you a tour in the event that you decide to come."
"That does sound nice," said Caroline. "I've never been to New Orleans and I'm curious about it." She looked behind her and saw that the sun was just about set. "I guess I should be heading back now. The others are probably wondering what the hell happened to me."
Klaus noticed the same thing. "You're right. I guess time really does fly when one is having fun." He smiled at her. "Would it be too much trouble to walk you back?"
Caroline didn't answer him right away, just considered his offer. That sounds like a great idea, actually. It'll give me more time with him before we have to part ways. Honestly, I'm not sure if I want to walk back to the boarding house by myself.
"I'd like that, thank you."
Klaus smiled and offered her his arm, which she took and he escorted her through the woods. The walk was silent, but then again, neither of them could think of anything to say, and it was quite understandable, considering how much they had been through in the time that they had known each other. No, this couldn't be good-bye, it just couldn't. Caroline already went through that with Tyler, and she couldn't bear it now with Klaus. While it was true that his invitation for her to come visit him in New Orleans still stood, she would have to sort some things out here first before she could make the journey.
Klaus watched her as they walked. She was so beautiful, like the angel he knew she was. He wished that he could just take her to New Orleans right now and not give a shit if anyone thought that it was kidnapping. Finally, he couldn't take the silence any more and decided to say something.
"Caroline, I..."
"No, Klaus, don't," she replied. "It's hard enough without you saying anything."
"Staying silent isn't making things any better," said Klaus. "I'd be lying if I said I'm not going to miss you. I am going to miss you, Caroline. I'm going to miss seeing your beautiful smile, hearing your beautiful voice, even if a majority of the things you've said to me weren't exactly the nicest. You've changed me, Caroline, in more ways than you can ever know."
Caroline bit her lip as she listened to what he was saying, feeling her eyes well up with tears. Said tears then began to stream down her face. Shit, why did he have to be so sweet? Klaus noticed that she was crying and wiped her cheeks gently with his thumbs. He didn't want her crying when he left, because it would make him cry as well.
Reaching into his jeans pocket, he took out a handkerchief, handing it to her. "Here, love, dry your eyes. Your friends will think you got hurt while you were searching for Matt if they saw you crying when you walk into that house."
Caroline nodded and took the handkerchief from him, gently wiping her eyes with it, sobbing just a little while she was doing it. After a few minutes, she forced herself to calm down and the tears gradually stopped. She went to return it to Klaus, but he shook his head.
"Keep it," he said. "It may not be the best souvenir in the world, but I want you to have it."
Caroline reluctantly nodded and placed it in her pocket before taking his arm again.
An Hour Later...
Night had fallen completely by the time they arrived at the border of the Salvatore property and Klaus turned to look at Caroline, kissing her softly, moaning as he felt her return it. There were no words left to say in that moment, because it would only make it harder. A few minutes later, Klaus stepped back, reluctantly breaking the kiss and gazing into the gorgeous blue eyes he had come to know and love.
In a whisper, he said, "Stay safe, Caroline, and I hope to see you when you come to New Orleans."
Caroline nodded. "I will."
Then, kissing him one more time, she walked away, heading for the front door of the Salvatore boarding house. Klaus didn't move as he watched her walk away, wanting to make sure she was safely inside before he went on his way. He saw her open the door and close it behind her. Then, with one heavy sigh, he turned around and vamp sped away.
Note: Here we are, lovelies, the first of mycutehamlet's requests. I believe that Klaroline isn't over, not by a long shot. They will be together forever soon. Keep the faith and it will happen! Julie Plec can't shake our faith in this beautiful couple. KLAROLINE FOREVER! UNIVERSE BE DAMNED!
