Okay, I wasn't too thrilled about this week's episode of TO, and I've been thinking of a drabble that will make things better. So, I will include it in "Eternal Flame." I just received a request from mycutehamlet, who was just as disgusted by this TO as I was.

TO 1x15 AU.

It's a private emotion that fills you tonight
And a silence falls between us
As the shadows steal the light
And wherever you may find it
Wherever it may lead
Let your private emotion come to me
Come to me

Elijah tried not to be nervous as he looked at the sleeping form of Klaus on the bed. He knew that they would need help after he had used the dagger to prevent Klaus from attacking Rebekah in the hospital and he had called the one person that he knew would be able to get his brother back from the brink, a certain blonde vampire he knew back in Mystic Falls, the very same blonde vampire that he had seen him dancing with at the ball they held at the mansion.

He then felt her presence and left the room, heading down to the lower level of the compound, his eyes meeting those of Caroline. He could tell that she was curious about why he had called her.

"I'm glad you're here," he said. "I didn't know who else to call."

Caroline nodded, even though she was still confused as to why Elijah called her to New Orleans. She followed him upstairs to the room that Klaus was in, getting a curious energy from him. When she saw the mark on his belly, her eyes widening and looking at Elijah.

"What the hell is going on here?" she demanded. "Why does he look like this?"

"There is an explanation for that," said Elijah. "I stabbed him with a dagger. He was about to attack Rebekah and I wanted to prevent it."

Caroline growled when she heard that and, not giving a shit that he was older and stronger than her because he was an Original, she rushed Elijah and pinned him against the wall, her fangs bared and snarling at him.

"You asshole! I can't believe you did that to him!" she shouted. "You claim to noble and want to have peace for your family and, judging from what you just said, it makes me think that you don't want that at all!"

Elijah struggled against her hold. "Caroline, please..."

"Don't you 'Caroline, please' me," she replied. "Fix him right now or I'll track Rebekah down myself and kill her! I don't think you'd want that, would you?"

Elijah knew that she had him trapped, so he decided to do what she was asking. "Very well, Caroline, I shall remove the dagger. And, because he's going to be weak, I'd appreciate if you gave him your blood."

Caroline retracted her fangs, releasing him from her hold. "My blood? How am I supposed to do that? He can't bite me."

Elijah grabbed a wine glass from the table and handed it to her. "Just bite your wrist and let your blood drip into this glass. It'll help him get his strength back. If anyone can help Niklaus, it'll be you. He seems to trust you the most, Caroline, and I have reason to believe that you can save him."

Caroline nodded as she took the wine glass from Elijah and then watched as he removed the dagger from Klaus' chest, but not before she heard him whisper to his brother, "They will pay for this."

"Who will pay for this?"

"He's referring to Marcel and Rebekah," said Elijah. "Apparently, the ones who trapped in the Fleur de Lis Hospital outside the city got it into his head that Marcel and Rebekah betrayed him, which led to him going into a craze that unfortunately led to me daggering him."

Caroline then watched as Elijah removed the dagger from Klaus' chest. She looked at it and tried not to cringe as she saw how bloody it was. I've never seen something like that before, and I've been stabbed plenty of times.

Then, placing the blade on the table, Elijah turned to Caroline. "I need you to look after him for me, Caroline. Apparently, you're the only one that can get him to calm down."

"I'm not sure how I'm going to be able to help him, but I guess I could try," said Caroline. "You wouldn't have called me if you didn't think I was capable of 'soothing the savage beast,' as we say today."

Elijah nodded and, after thanking Caroline one more time, walked out of the room. Once they were alone, Caroline saw Klaus looking at her. Shit, he looked terrible. He kind of looks like he did when he thought Silas was torturing him, he thought. Damn it, Elijah, how could you subject your brother to this? I know that you wanted to protect Rebekah, but that's no reason to do what I can to help Klaus.

Remembering that Elijah had given her the wine glass, Caroline bit into her wrist, letting her blood drip into it before giving it to him. Klaus kept his gaze on her as he took the glass from her and drank the blood inside it.

"Elijah must be playing on how I feel about you if he's asking you to look after me like this."

"Playing on how you feel about me?" said Caroline. "I highly doubt that's the case. He called me here because he thinks that I can help you."

Klaus smirked. "How ironic, considering how you looked like you were about ready to tear him apart."

"How the hell could you know that I attacked him?" said Caroline. "You were fast asleep."

"Perhaps, but I sensed the tension between you," said Klaus. "You're more like me than you're willing to admit, love." He looked at the wine glass, smirking at the blood that stained it. "I also see that Elijah knows that my bite is toxic to you, so he told you to give me your blood via this wine glass."

"Of course he knows," said Caroline. "Why else would he give me the glass to pour my blood into?" She then saw that he was putting a shirt on. Wait, what the hell is he doing? Just because he just drank my blood, that doesn't mean that he's back to normal. I can feel that he's still weak from the blade. "Klaus, you're not strong enough to be out of bed yet. You're still weak."

"I am not about to stay here."

"Damn it, Klaus," said Caroline. "Elijah told me to look after you and I'm going to do what he asks. You know, this kind of gives me a feeling of deja vu. Seeing you like this kind of reminds me of when you thought Silas was torturing you and I stayed with you the whole day to help you, even though it was a bit begrudgingly on my part."

Klaus didn't answer and tried to get up off the bed and Caroline saw that he was stumbling around. "Klaus, please, stay in bed."

"There are blood bags in the pantry."

"You're actually considering that?" said Caroline. "If you want more blood, I'll gladly give you more of mine. That is why Elijah gave me that wine glass." She grabbed the glass, biting into her wrist and let more of her blood drip into it. "If you want blood so badly, here take more of mine." She saw him look at her, seeing a worried gleam in his eyes. "If you're worried that I'll get weak, I'll get one of those blood bags from the pantry that you mentioned earlier."

Klaus nodded and took a swig of the blood in the glass. He still had his eyes on her as he drank, licking his lips as he continued to drink. He could tell that she was starting to weaken and knew that unless she would have to feed soon herself. Once he was done, he brought his wrist to his lips, bit into it and looked at her again. "Come here."

Caroline raised an eyebrow. "Huh? Klaus, what are you..."

"Come here," he replied. "You need to feed."

Caroline was reluctant, not sure what he was up to. However, she heard the concern in his voice and went over to him, biting into his wrist, taking his blood. Surprisingly, it didn't taste all that bad, especially since the dagger was now out of his body. After she had taken enough blood, she pulled away, looking into his eyes. Then, before she could stop herself, she leaned in and kissed him. Klaus returned her kiss and pulled her to him, running his hands up and down her body. They didn't get beyond that, because Klaus pulled away from her, framing her face in his hands.

"You said that Rebekah had to pay," said Caroline. "Why do you hate her? She's your sister."

"Simple, love," said Klaus. "She did something that no one has been able to do in over 1,000 years, ripped my heart out."

Before Caroline could reply, Klaus had left. She growled in frustration. Shit, why the hell is he making things so hard for me to help him? Elijah is counting on me and I can't fail him. Klaus is unstable, like Elena was when she had the Hunter's curse, and I need to help him.

Her mind made up, Caroline vamp sped out of the room, hoping that she wasn't too late to talk some sense into him.

Later...

After searching for Klaus for a good part of the day, Caroline found him going toward what was known as the City of the Dead. What the hell is he doing here? A place with a name like the City of the Dead sounds ominous. This can't be good, given Klaus' condition right now.

"Rebekah!"

Klaus' angry yell brought her back to reality and saw that he was armed with a white oak stake that was meant to kill an Original. That could mean only one thing: he was dead set on using it on Rebekah. Following the energy coming off of him, Caroline found where Klaus was and stood in his path.

"Klaus, stop right there!"

Klaus growled at her. "Get out of my way, Caroline! Rebekah betrayed me and for that, she has to die!"

"Okay, I get the fact that she made a mistake, a lot of people do," said Caroline. "But, that hardly gives you the right to be judge, jury, and executioner! At the end of the day, she's your sister, as I said earlier, and I know that if you were to kill her, you may claim that it would make things better, I know for a fact that it won't."

"I'll regret it?" said Klaus. "What makes you so certain of that?"

"What makes me so certain, you ask?" said Caroline. "Well, I'll tell you. It's because I know for a fact that if the tables were turned and someone prevented you from being with me the way you prevented Rebekah from being with Marcel, you would've done the exact same thing!" Not letting him answer her, she added, "Now that we're together, there's no need for you to go on this mission for vengeance that you're so desperate to get!"

Klaus growled at her. "And what is it you think I should do?"

"I think you know what that is, Klaus. Let her live her life," said Caroline. "It's obvious that Rebekah and Marcel love each other just as fiercely as we love each other. Let her live her life so we can live our lives together, because there's no way I'm leaving your side if you keep getting into this kind of trouble."

Klaus wanted to protest, but he knew that Caroline was right. He fell to his knees, dropping the stake at the same time. After that, he felt tears sting his eyes and they ran down his face. Seeing this, Caroline went over to him and knelt down in front of him, hugging him, reaching up to run her fingers through his hair.

Note: There you have it, the completed request for mycutehamlet. I apologize for it being late, I had to do a lot of work with it. Anyway, here's the result of my hard work. Enjoy!
