Hey, lovelies! It's been a while since I last updated "Eternal Flame," (the last time being February 6), so I thought I'd treat you to another installment. It's all Klaroline and nothing hurts.
'Cause she's bittersweet
She knocks me off of my feet
And I can't help myself
I don't want anyone else
She's a mystery
She's too much for me
But I keep comin' back for more
She's just the girl I'm lookin' for
Downtown New Orleans – Valentine's Day...
Caroline held the rose in her hand as she walked into the restaurant. Klaus had arranged for them to meet in this place for a special Valentine's Day celebration, hence the reason she was wearing a long, red dress, which matched the rose she was holding in her hand. There was nothing that wonderful Original hybrid wouldn't do for the blonde vampire. Although theirs had been a bit of a rocky relationship in the beginning, the couple had been able to overcome the obstacles and now, there wasn't that could come between them.
When she got close enough to the person that was standing in front of the podium, she smiled and said, "Hi, I'm meeting Niklaus Mikaelson here."
The man returned her smile. "Ah, yes, he just got here a few minutes ago and he told me to let you in when you arrived." He looked her up and down. "I must say, Mr. Niklaus is very lucky indeed to have an incredible beauty like you in his life."
"Thank you," said Caroline. "Though, I think I'm the lucky one in that regard." She cleared her throat. "Where is he sitting?"
"He's got a special booth in the back," said the man, grabbing a menu and gesturing to a nearby waiter. "Just follow the rose petals that are on the floor and it'll lead you straight to him. Happy Valentine's Day, Miss Caroline."
Caroline smiled again and followed the waiter to the booth that Klaus had reserved for them, receiving a smile from him when she arrived. He was wearing a black suit with a red vest to match her dress. She'd say this for Klaus, he was sure classy.
"I take it Pierre told you?"
"He did," she replied. "And he even told me that you were a lucky man to have me in your life."
"He's certainly right about that."
Caroline laughed and took her seat in the booth, after which the waiter placed the menu on the table, leaving soon after she picked it up and looked at the many dinner specials that the restaurant was serving exclusively for Valentine's Day.
"So, what do you have planned for us, Nik?" said Caroline. "I know how much you love to treat me like a lady, so what's your plan to do it tonight?"
"I was thinking we'd start with a romantic dinner for two, complete with our favorite champagne," said Klaus. "Then, after dinner, we'd take a romantic carriage ride through the city." He smiled again. "Sound exciting so far?"
"Very exciting, not to mention romantic," said Caroline. "How does our evening end?"
"I figured I'd leave it open," said Klaus. "That way, it'll be a complete surprise."
Caroline giggled. "Oooh, a surprise, that sounds great."
"I figured you'd like it," said Klaus. "Now, how about we get this evening started, shall we?"
"We shall," said Caroline. "So, is the food good here?"
"The best in New Orleans," said Klaus. "That's why I planned for us to meet here. You deserve to have what every lady wants on Valentine's Day, to be pampered by the special man in her life." He signaled for the waiter to come back. "Now, let's have that champagne."
Caroline nodded and watched as the waiter returned with the champagne Klaus had ordered for them. She was definitely looking forward to this, which wasn't lost on Klaus. The wave of emotions he was reading from her were a combination of happy and delighted, which had been his intention when he arranged for them to meet.
After Dinner...
Caroline snuggled up next to Klaus as they rode through the city in the carriage, looking up at the starry sky above them.
"This was the best Valentine's Day ever," she said. "Thank you."
"No need to thank me, love," he replied. "Just knowing that you're enjoying yourself is thanks enough for me."
"Still, this was a great idea," said Caroline. "No one has ever done this for me before."
"Well then, it's a good thing I planned this then."
Caroline kissed his cheek. "I love you, Niklaus Mikaelson. You certainly know how to show a girl good time."
"A gentleman should always show the woman he loves a good time whenever possible," said Klaus. "This city is my most favorite in the world, and I am honored to show it to you, because this a city you were destined to live in." He took her hand. "You were also destined to be on the arm of a man who will shower you with all the devotion you deserve."
"Let me guess, you're that man?"
"Of course," said Klaus. "Every day will be exactly like this for the rest of eternity, Caroline, I promise you."
Caroline giggled again and this time, kissed his lips, moaning as she felt him returning her kiss, bringing his hand up to caress her cheek. After a few minutes, he reluctantly pulled away, playfully nibbling on her bottom lip and there was not a word spoken between them as they looked into each other's eyes. Of course, they didn't need to speak, because it was obvious that the emotions between them were strong.
Note: I hope you guys enjoyed this late Valentine's Day treat! The idea for this came to me earlier today. #KeeptheKlarolineFaith!
