Hey, everyone! I know I haven't updated "Eternal Flame" in some time (the last time being May 22), but inspiration has been difficult to come by due to my hectic real life. I got an idea for this installment fairly recently and I thought I'd share. No spoilers!

Once Upon a Dream
I know you
The gleam in your eyes
Is so familiar a gleam
The courtyard of the castle seemed to be quiet as a tomb as Prince Niklaus stepped into it, leading his horse with him. He had faced many evils on the road to saving the fair Princess Caroline from the spell placed on her. His journey was almost complete and he looked forward to claiming his reward. The inhabitants of the castle were all fast asleep, as though they were under the same spell as the Princess.
"Welcome, Prince Niklaus."
A voice brought him out of his reverie and he looked to see a cloaked woman coming out of the shadows. Not sure what she was doing here, Niklaus drew his sword and pointed it in her direction, hesitant to trust her after what he had been through.
"Who are you? How do you know me?"
"Relax, I'm not like the witch who cursed the Princess," the woman said. "My name is Bonnie, and I am a friend who will lead you to your love."
Niklaus kept his sword aimed at her. "Where is she?"
Bonnie smiled. "She's in the tower. I can take you to her."
Before the prince could say another word, she walked off toward the tower. Niklaus lowered his sword, placed it back into its sheath, and followed after her. Bonnie looked over her shoulder and smiled when she saw him behind her. She ascended the staircase leading to where Princess Caroline was sleeping, Niklaus keeping up with her.
It wasn't long before they reached the top of the stairs and Niklaus looked in the direction of the bed in the center of the room. She was even more beautiful than the stories described and it made him look forward to breaking the curse.
Niklaus made his way over the bed and knelt down, placing a gentle kiss on her lips, Bonnie watching from the corner. A few minutes later, Caroline opened her eyes and smiled as she gazed upon the one who had broken the spell.
"Hello, my dream Prince. I've been waiting for you."
"Wait no longer, love, because I am here," said Niklaus. "The spell is broken and you're awake." He kissed her again. "And we shall be wed."
Caroline's eyes went wide. "Wait, my mother doesn't know I've awakened."
"That's not entirely true," said Bonnie, coming out from where she was hiding. "I cast a spell to put everyone in the castle to sleep until you two kissed. Now that your spell has been broken, the spell I cast on the castle was lifted."
Caroline looked at Niklaus and back to Bonnie. "Bonnie, go downstairs and let everyone know I'm awake and to make preparations for the wedding. There's no time to waste."
Bonnie nodded and teleported out of the room. Once she was gone, Caroline got up from the bed and went to the mirror on the vanity, brushing her blonde hair to get rid of whatever tangles her hair may have gotten during the short time she was asleep.
She looked at Niklaus when she was finished and said, "Come on, we have to meet our public."
"You're right, love," he said. "We can't stay up here forever."
Caroline smiled and kissed him tenderly before they descended the stairs.
