Harry and Neville guided both mother and daughter towards the Gringots Bank, where Severina was quite scared at first when she first saw the Goblins' bank tellers and staff, till Neville told her they would not harm her as long as she doesn't do anything bad, they are very professional and this place is a bank, a place where people come to have a place to keep their money and valuables safe, and sometimes to see if the Goblins can help them with a few problems, Goblins are smart so they can usually think of things in a way normal people can't.
That is when an old goblin came out of the bank and began to smile at Harry, "I don't know human expressions very well, but I think the right one is my ears are burning after what I just heard you say, indeed we have our ways of solving problems, it is very nice of you to acknowledge our intelligence something I would not expect from a human wizard at all."
Neville stepped forward and looked at the old goblin, "We both happen to remember a person who had a goblin father, and this person was a wise instructor who gave us both much advice, taught us many things, and was truly a person both Harry and I hold with the highest regards. Thanks to the situation we find ourselves in, he is currently teaching at Hogwarts if they are lucky to have him. We came for several reasons that only you can help us with Bank Manager, your majesty we ask that you help this woman and her child in her time of need, and we need access to our family vaults and to open new vaults of our own."
The old goblin looked at Neville and smiled, "Very well, I shall help this lady but we must know whose family they belong to, to see establish we are helping a customer, so who happens to be the lady and which houses are both of your members of? I need to ask to be sure preparation for the test is even needed."
Harry told him that the lady belongs to the Prince Family, and his friend Neville belongs to the Longbottom Family, as for himself he was of course a Potter. The old goblin began to nod his head and with a flick of his finger the doors to the bank opened and he guided them to a private room inside the bank, here three pieces of parchment and a rather sinister-looking dagger were present.
Severina became afraid thinking of all sorts of things like these goblins were going to use that dagger to murder her and her mother and eat them for dinner. Neville put his hand on her shoulder and told her to relax, they were perfectly safe, the dagger was needed to extract blood and that blood would be placed on one of those pieces of parchment, when this is done the sigil of the house whose blood was taken will appear on the piece of paper, it is a standard goblin identification process, and it is not painful at all.
Neville asked if he could demonstrate, and the old goblin was happy to see that he would volunteer for the benefit of another person. As soon as he took the dagger and cut his finger the blood went down the blade and hit the parchment and a sigil that one goblin identified as House Longbottom had appeared on the page. He handed the dagger to the goblin and showed Severina that there was nothing wrong with his hand.
Seeing this Eileen did as Neville demonstrated and much like him, a sigil appeared but this was of House Prince, the last person to do this was Harry but much unlike the others, his blood caused two sigils to appear on the page, one was of course House Potter, but the other was an even more ancient family, House Peverell. The old goblin asked what House Prince needed help with, to which Eileen told him of the abuse and mistreatment they suffered under her husband Tobias Snape, she wishes for a divorce and remedy for all the wrongdoing that they had to endure.
The old goblin was practically growling after hearing what Eileen and her daughter had gone through, it looked to Harry that it took every bit of patience to calm down, because for a minute there the old goblin looked like he wanted to find Tobias and subject him to horrors best left unmentioned. "Lady, I see that you and your child have gone through a lot, rest assured that this man, Tobias Snape was it? will be punished severely for his actions, I shall mobilize our entire legal department against the man, by the time we are done with him, he will wish he had two knuts to his name and will be sentenced to a cell where he will never again be a problem to you or your child, of this I swear!"
Eileen was surprised by the way the old goblin acted and asked why would he go this far for a mere human woman and her child. "My lady, you may not know goblins very well, but know this, we value family as our greatest and most prized treasure, to hear that a man treated his like this, would make any other goblin furious. You may be humans, but we cherish our customers, and you three are indeed our customers, so do not worry about your vaults, for you shall be given copies of your keys by the end of this day, except for Mr. Potters I am afraid that one more person has claimed to be a member of House Peverell, we still need to find the third heir before we can divide the holding of that family vault."
Neville raised his hand and the old goblin looked at him, "Actually the third member of that house is right here, it is the young girl right next to me, if you seek verification, please Severina, do as your mother did, and show them to which houses you belong. Severina was very afraid until they had to redo the test for both her and Eileen, and on closer inspection, it was seen that the sigil for House Peverell was hidden behind the sigil for House Prince, and thus it was proven that Sererina is, in fact, a descendant of House Peverell.
"Well this is a joyous occasion for us, we have been trying to find the descendants of House Peverell for a long time, and has caused me and many of our people within the bank countless nights of worry and an immense number of headaches, but we can now honestly distribute the money within that old family vault to their rightful heirs, and of course, Eileen Prince and Harry Potter shall receive their share of their inheritance. You came seeking our aid but in the end, it is we who thank you for aiding us as well."
Harry knew immediately that the one heir that they were talking about was none other than Delphini since Tom had no idea or intention of claiming that he was the descendant of one of the three brothers that got the deadly hallows from death, even if he is a direct descendant of the brother who got the resurrection stone. Neville got the feeling that Tom didn't want to do that because he thinks that admitting he is a descendant will make everyone think that is the only reason he is powerful. This of course is idiotic.
As they each were told the new advancements in banking practices, thanks to many goblins going to actual muggle banks, the bank now had the very same cards for their customers to make purchases at stores or buy services without the need to carry around the actual money for each purchase. Businesses, in essence, had the equivalent of card readers at every shop so making purchases became safer and more convenient for people and thus it increased the volume of sales, making the economy flourish, thus making even more money for the bank because all those businesses were also clients of Gringots.
It seems that technology and ideas from the muggle world were slowly being incorporated and adopted by the magical world and it was making the economy swelled. It was however not all good news, it also means that pickpockets were no longer able to steal vast amounts of money from what appeared to be well-to-do targets. This forced the people who were pickpockets to go into other forms of illegal business, such as narcotics.
The one thing that Neville and Harry were keen on doing is getting ready to take down the enemies they will have to face, and in preparation for this someone managed to restore every single vault that was lost thanks to reality in their world being rewritten, and thus Harry had access to more money than ever before, which worried Neville thinking that all this was going to go straight to his friend's head.
Harry simply said that it gave him a certain degree of comfort and security, the more money he had, the wealthier he was, and therefore the easier it will be for him to do necessary things but some would call either barbaric or brutal. The thing they decided to do is try and earn money in a way that is both enjoyable and beneficial to them, which means the usual way, bounty hunting work while they are both setting up a business of materials and items sales.
Where do they get those materials or items? From the crooks that they defeat, they would defeat their intended target and raid whatever stash of supplies that Crooks had in his hiding place, or at least that was the initial plan, it would have to change from case to case, after seeing how Neville dealt with enemies however, Harry came up with the idea of telling Moody that if he wants the enemy alive to ask him, but if they want the enemy dead, just as Neville to bring back a body part as proof.
For some strange reason, Neville never was very keen on showing mercy to any of his enemies, especially when those enemies tried to either get away or distract them by causing harm to innocent people.
As the goblins had many such criminals to contend with and many of which the only thing they require was blood, Neville came to be rather well respected by the goblins the following days, Harry was more of the negotiator, he would go around and capture the crook, they sometimes make amends and even pay for their crimes, most of them for some strange reason happen to be women. Neville simply knew that Harry had a thing that he wouldn't kill a woman unless there was no other option.
Neville on the other hand picked bounty-hunting targets that gave him little to no choice but to kill, he picked the most murderous, sadistic, morally depraved targets the Goblins or the ministry had to offer, and had fun killing them in very fun and inventive ways, give them the same treatment they were so willing to dish out to some many poor innocent people.
As their days continued and they gained more and more money from their contracts, they also began to form connections and become either respected or even friends with more and more people at both the bank and in the ministry, which of course was not without reason. Harry knew that he needed to earn the respect and become friends with some rather important goblins to be able to do what he knew must be done, finding and destroying the horcuxes.
The fact is that they were getting to be quite feared by the criminal underworld, and by extension were also quite admired by some, Harry often joked that Neville took a single seed and with it he threw it against one of the most sadistic serial killers the ministry had ever tried to hunt down, he threw the seed at the madman and the man laughed thinking his victim had joked but the second the seed touched his skin, it began to burrow into him and within a minute the plant had devoured the man from the inside, drinking every drop of blood and using the rest of his organs as compost, Neville's only remark is that it is sort of tragic that such beautiful flowers came from such a repugnant human.
Eileen and her daughter had a much better life after the goblins got done with her now ex-husband, the man was first asked to make proper compensation for all his damages, pain, and suffering he inflicted, and when he told the goblin where to cram his suggestions, that was all the goblin needed, and thus began a long series of civil trials which ended up causing the man to lose more and more money, possessions and even the respect of everyone that once knew him.
To add to his pain, he was forced to leave his family home and sign over the title to Eileen, the first thing she did was to tear everything that could once have been owned or used by Tobias and quickly destroyed it, and then she asked Harry and Neville to help her renovate her home, it didn't take long before Harry finished the wand and rune work on the old shack of a house and turned it into something quite decent.
Neville on the other hand worked on the outside making a beautiful garden, and built them a nice greenhouse so that they could grow plants year-round, Severina often joked that she was growing something that Neville would absolutely love. It turns out that wasn't a lie because she came up with a way to make an extremely efficient and powerful tonic that would help plants not only last longer but even become better and more powerful.
To Neville, this was amazing, as he knew that if he used this with his plants, they would become truly something great. She handed him the formula of the tonic on a piece of parchment and as soon as Neville felt it placed on his hand, he felt her kiss him on his cheek and was heard giggling as she walked away.
As Harry saw that he was quick to mention that maybe Severina might have a not-so-slight crush on him, to which Neville told him, that she is essentially the female version of the man who once loved to torture him and ridicule him in his potions classes, so he would do well to remember that she could end up hating his guts like the one they know of.
"Oh I doubt it, Snape was never that gentle with you, to begin with, and I think you would throw up if he kissed you on your cheek like she just did, all I am saying, is girls, tend to fall in love with the guy that saved them." Neville then decided to put a cork in this subject by simply saying that Harry should know all about that since he did that too when he ended up killing the mother of all basilisks, in a dungeon whose entrance is hidden under the bathroom intended for witches.
The only comment Harry made about it is that it was a low blow, considering that he ended up getting married to that very same girl, and had quite a few children with her before both he and Neville ended up like they are. That is when Eileen decided to ask what do they mean? Both were surprised to see her there and that she heard everything.
"Essentially we were sent here by three gods and a goddess from our own time, after we both died of old age because in this dimension someone caused changes that screwed over this entire reality, causing changes that cause both the chosen one for the prophecy that would save the world not to be born or his helpful friend. Meaning neither I nor Neville were born, and without us here the world dies. So we were sent as replacements, and we are now going to have to do what they should have been able to before, if this sounds crazy, I wouldn't blame you if you think we are nuts."
Eileen laughed and looked at Harry, "Yes I would consider this a little bit on the crazy side, had I not had a conversation with the goddess while I was asleep after my then-husband beat me up because I couldn't find him another bottle of booze. I thought it was a dream I had thanks to the pain that literally felt like my head was going to explode from the pain. I guess this makes more sense, but mind telling me what you plan to do?"
Harry looked at her and began to shake his head, "We want to fix our relationship with other races, mend the bridges and build new ones, the more of them we have on our side, the fewer people Tom can trick to do his bidding, cause he doesn't care one bit about them, but is not against using them if it means achieving his goal, can't believe it is so cliche, to rule the world!"
Neville said that they first earned the respect of the goblins, and with that done now they are trusted and respected by the goblins, and thus the Goblin King will be more willing to listen to their explanation and they have a tidy peace offering that is something that will stop a feud between magic folk and goblins that has raged for centuries.
She looked at him and began to think, "The only thing that comes to mind for a long-standing feud is the matter with the sword Godric Gryffindor paid the goblins to make, that didn't make any sense to me truth be told, Neville was shocked that Eileen knew so much about Magical History, "The problem is with the concept of ownership, to the humans if they pay someone to make something for them, they own it, and therefore they can inherit it to future generations, to goblins however that thing belongs to the one who made it, and they loan the item to the person, but upon death, that item should have returned to the goblin who made it."
Neville essentially put it like this, a person pays a contractor to build a house, and under the laws of the contractor the person can live in the house for as long as that person lives, but once that person dies the house returns to being the property of the contractor. "In other words, you owe that which you made with your own hands, but because they never got the sword back, instead it was inherited by someone else, they feel like the sword was stolen, and thus the reason for the feud, they might be willing to work with wizards and witches, but because of the feud they don't actually trust them."
Neville looked at her and smiled, "Which is why we have the Sword of Gryffindor, The Sickle of Hufflepuff, the Rapier of Ravenclaw, and of course the Dagger of Slytherin from our own dimension, we plan to give those to the Goblin King as a peace offering and thus mend the relationship between Goblins and our people, but to do that we needed to be more trusted or else the King might think this is another attempt by wizards to try and trick him."
Neville simply looked at Eileen and took a deep breath, "I also like to thank you for allowing both of us to live here in your home, had you not suggested that I think we would have to either stay at a motel or do something like try and live in the home of one of the crooks we either captured or killed. So on behalf of myself and of Harry, we thank you."
She laughed and simply said that it was no problem at all, thanks to the renovations and the fact that she no longer had to be married to Tobias, there were plenty of empty rooms, so she was happy to have them live there, it made the place feel like they were a family, which made thing not only easier but happier for her but also her daughter.
As Harry and Neville get ready for their meeting with the head of Gringots, who just happens to be the King of the Goblins, Harry was quick to mention not to worry so much about the possibility of Severina having a crush on him, after all, if things play as they knew, Severina will actually eventually fall in love with a girl her own age by the name of Lily Evans.
To which Neville told him that there is no way to tell if that could even happen for all they know the Evans and the Dursley families are not even muggles anymore, for all they know Lily and Petunia are going to meet her as fellow students when they first go to Hogwarts. Harry told him that would be both funny and horrible at the same time, as far as he remembers Petunia and Vernon both hated magic so much that they considered it an offense to nature, for them to have magic would be ever so ironic.
"We are living in the home of the mother of our old Potions Master, and her mother has been bending over backward to try and make us both happy and comfortable, and I could be wrong, but somehow I think she was once a Slytherin. So there is very little doubt that things are not the same way we once knew them, but the question is to what extent."
As they reached the bank and went through the lobby, Harry walked up to the teller and told him that they had an appointment to meet with the head of the bank, the teller asked them for their names, to which they introduced themselves, making the teller smile as he checked a document.
"Yes, I see that you are five minutes early but no matter, follow me gentleman, the head of this bank apparently was looking forward to meeting you both, I heard through bank rumors that he actually cleared all other appointments so that he could meet with you, I know that you can't tell me the reason for this meeting, but that doesn't change the fact that everyone is extremely curious about it."
Harry looked at him and knew that he was worried, "Griphook, you have nothing to worry about, this meeting will I hope settle some issues between our peoples, and create a much more peaceful relationship, or so I hope. You can trust me when I say my only goal for his meeting is to establish a lasting peace."
As Harry entered the meeting room, he saw that people were actually watching hidden behind the walls, it seems that Goblin's distrust of Wizards is still very much present, "I first must thank you for helping Eileen and her daughter out of that terrible situation, and are enjoying a much happier life, second, I actually mean it, you got nothing to worry about, this meeting is as I said to Griphook, to establish peace between our people."
The Bank Manager walked towards his seat and sat down before looking at both Harry and Neville, "We had to make sure it was really you, and not someone else that was pretending to be you by using some underhanded methods, like drinking Polijuice Potion for one, you do realize what caused the breach between our people, I can hardly believe that would ever change without the return of our stolen property.
Harry stood from his seat and quickly with a move of his arm, four weapons appeared on the table, "We come from another dimension, and we can use this ability to in a way visit other dimensions, the property you are talking about is the one people call the Sword of Gryffindor, however in other timelines the one that asked the weapon to be made was another of the Hogwarts founders, and so by visiting all four of them we obtained the weapon in question from all four alternative realities, these are those four weapons, we are here to give them back to you, you will notice they have been forged by goblins."
The manager looked at each of the weapons on the table and looked at Harry with an almost whimsical expression, "I still must ask one thing, why would you do this?" Harry told him that as long as the relationship between Goblins and Humans is not repaired, and they establish a friendly relationship, he knows of one person who would love to manipulate them into joining his side, and if this is done it would be the doom for both your people and ours.
"You understand our traditions and you have put in the effort to come up with this solution to a feud that lasted longer than most have lived, these weapons are goblin made, but they were not made by the goblins that I know of, I can tell because none of these marks match any of our goblin clans. I will, however, admit you have done more than any wizards we ever met, you earned our trust and respect, and you have given us this peace offering, very well. I shall consider the feud between us to be over. As friends, I must ask you who is it that threatens both you and us?"
That is when Neville simply said, his name is Thomas Marvolov Riddle Junior, the self-imposed Lord of the Knights of Walpurgis.
