Hey guys! Thank you for the reviews you gave me about the chapters I have been writing and for the constructive criticism as well. Chapter nine is going to be interesting as Syuri and Sesshomaru have a little chat and she is letting Sesshomaru know that she is watching him. Here you go, guys and enjoy!
Chapter Nine
Sesshomaru left the dining room after the little episode at breakfast. He could not believe that Syuri asked him that question and while yes, he was slowly falling for her mother, he wanted to make sure he was not rushing things with Serafina and that Serafina's feelings were the same. He did not want to make Serafina feel like she was being coerced into a relationship after everything she went through with Kyoran.
She is an extraordinary woman and yes, I plan to ask her could I slowly court her so that we are comfortable with each other, but I also want to prove to Syuri that I really do care for her mother Sesshomaru thought. He was so lost in thought that he did not see Syuri walking towards him and almost bumped into her.
"Lord Sesshomaru, forgive me for what happened at breakfast today. I just simply wanted to know what your intentions are and that you will not try to take advantage of my mother. I am warning you. If you dare hurt my mother or make her cry in the slightest, I will freeze you into a human popsicle" said Syuri as she used her ice powers to make the hallway cold, making Sesshomaru slightly shiver. He realized that Syuri was going to be harder to convince but he hoped that once she saw how much he and Serafina got along, she would calm down.
"Syuri, you have my word. I will never hurt your mother nor you" said Sesshomaru as he wanted to the gardens.
Serafina watched from afar. She knew her daughter was just trying to protect her, but she needed to make Syuri realize that she knew what she was doing and that she should focus on being a child instead of meddling into her affairs. Serafina was curious about Rin and saw Jaken in the hallway and approached him.
"Jaken, my daughter has told me a little bit about Rin. I know she is an orphan but not much else. What do you know about her? If I am to be Sesshomaru's mate and Rin's new mother as well, I want to know more about her and let's walk as I head out to watch the soldiers train," said Serafina. Jaken cleared his throat and followed Serafina. He began to talk.
"Rin's family was killed by a pack of wolves, and she was nearing death until Lord Sesshomaru used his sword Tenseiga to bring her back to life. He was injured and Rin brought him food. She was not even the slightest bit afraid of him," said Jaken.
"A sword that could bring the dead back to life. How Interesting. Poor Rin, losing your family in such a horrible way. I promise you, Jaken, that I will protect her with my life, and she will have a happy childhood. She at least deserves that," said Serafina. Tears pricked her eyes; this is how Syuri felt when she watched her father, and his mistress murdered her. She was determined to see that both girls would be happy.
"Since then, my Lady, she has never left his side. He saved her countless time, protected her, and even saved her from death twice. I will admit that she was annoying at first, but she is starting to grow on me too." Jaken said. After learning more about Rin, she thanked Jaken and sent him on his way.
Poor girl. I will talk to her eventually and win her heart, but I wonder where Sesshomaru is? Jaken did mention Sesshomaru likes to meditate so he is probably in the meditation garden. I need to talk to Syuri later about today's incident at breakfast. Serafina thought. She was about to head to her study until Tara, her servant, came telling her that someone wanted to see her in the throne room. Inuyasha said he smelled fox and Serafina knew Kyoran was here. Everyone headed for the throne. Serafina arrived and there stood Kyoran proud and cocky. He reeked of blood.
"Kyoran, you reek of blood. What brings you to my palace?" said Serafina.
"You look more beautiful as a demoness than you did as a human. You are powerful and instead of killing you, I want to make you my Queen and combine our kingdoms. Together we will be unstoppable. Get rid of the brat and you will give me a powerful heir or die by my blade." said Kyoran.
"You bastard! Wanting to kill your own daughter because she is a girl?! You deserve to be in Hell! You also injured my pregnant mate, so I want your head!" said Inuyasha, drawing his sword. Kyoran glared and turned his eyes to Serafina.
"What will it be, my former mate? Return to me or die" Kyoran sneered as he drew his sword. Serafina took out her hairpins and turned them into rapiers.
"Kagome, take the children somewhere safe" said Serafina and she charged at her mate. The battle of the former mates began. Swords clashed and Serafina was matching blow for blow. Sesshomaru was amazed at her speed. She managed to make a cut on Kyoran's arm.
"Phoenix Fire!" yelled Serafina as she blew fire from her throat, slightly burning Kyoran. Kyoran used his ice powers and aimed at Inuyasha.
"Adamant Barrage!" said Inuyasha as he counteracted Kyoran's attack against him. Sesshomaru then used his sword, and the trio started a combo attacks.
"Yay Yashie! Get him!" said Syuri, cheering. Kagome kept the children out of harm's way. Kyoran was getting hit from all sides and could barely keep up. He was knocked on his butt as Serafina pointed his sword.
"Give up, Kyoran. I will never go back to you, and you will stand down," said Serafina. Kyoran growled and Serafina went to check on the children and Kagome. Suddenly, a sword pierced through her, and Kagome screamed. Serafina crumbled to the ground in a pile of ashes, leaving only her crown. Syuri cried and Sesshomaru's eyes turned red and went into beast mode.
"Why do you even care for a woman who once was mated? She deserves to suffer!" said Kyoran but Sesshomaru kept attacking and used his poison from his claws, causing Kyoran injury. Kyoran knew if he did not leave soon, he was going to die.
"I will be back, and I will get revenge. "This is not over" he said and retreated. Sesshomaru went to the pile of ashes, and he lowered his head. Inuyasha smelled tears. He never seen Sesshomaru cried not even when his news of his father's death got to him.
Wow. Serafina must really mean something to him but wait if she immortal, why did her body turn into a pile of ashes? Inuyasha thought. Suddenly a whirlwind of fire swirled around Serafina's ashes and a hand came out of the pile of ashes then a head. There was Serafina, naked as it was the day she was born, staring at everyone.
"I told you, guys! I cannot die. Whenever I am killed, I am reborn from my ashes. I need some clothes" said Serafina, blushing as everyone saw her naked. Tara brought her a new kimono and Syuri hugged her mother along with Rin and Shippo. As she got up, Sesshomaru stared, and she smiled.
"I would not dare leave you. Besides, we're courting, aren't we? Yes, Sesshomaru. I heard your thoughts, and I would love to court you and once Kyoran is gone, I would honor to be your intended" said Serafina and kissed his cheek.
Sesshomaru held her close and inhaled her scent. She carried the scent of vanilla and honey, and he vowed that Kyoran will pay with his life for what he did. He almost truly thought he had lost the woman who captured his heart. Sesshomaru realized that he was falling in love with her and knew this is who he wanted as his intended and once Kyoran is dead, he would make her his mate. They would raise their family and have many pups. Sesshomaru kissed her and she welcomed it.
"Yes, now all you have to do is give us plenty of siblings to play with!" said Rin, earning a blush from the couple.
Serafina laughed and hugged her girls. Serafina realized that she was truly falling for Sesshomaru and that just because Kyoran was a terrible man did not mean that Sesshomaru was like Kyoran. They were courting and as time goes by, it will continue to grow into something more. Inuyasha was happy for his older brother. The guy deserved someone to love and be happy with, but he knew that if Kyoran was still out there, none of them were safe. Kyoran was going to be back and this time he would be more dangerous than ever.
"I am happy for you, Sesshomaru. You deserve it but this bastard will be back once he knows Serafina survived, we need to be ready" said Inuyasha.
"And we will be ready. Isn't that right, love?" said Serafina as Sesshomaru held her in his arms.
"We will but now that we know that he could not handle the three of us together. We need to find a way to get him. With him as Lord, his people will continue to suffer. We must do something" said Sesshomaru. With Kyoran defeated, their father can rest in peace. Serafina also wanted to get rid of Kyoran especially since he murdered his own father Kinjiro for the throne and get closure for herself and her father-in-law. Kinjiro may not have been the nicest, but he softened once Syuri was born.
"Sesshomaru, when we were attacking him, he could barely fight the three of us. Maybe we could try to attack him and combine all our attacks into one, he will be defeated," said Serafina. After everything was settled and servants cleaned up the mess, Syuri hugged her mother tightly. She was glad that her mother was alive because she saw her mother get killed in front of her eyes, she did not want a repeat again. Rin was glad that Lord Sesshomaru and Lady Serafina were courting and getting to know each other; she was nervous until Serafina approached her and smiled.
"Rin, Jaken told me all about you and I promise you I will love you as if you were my own daughter. Your adopted father is a good man and once this is all over, I look forward to becoming your mother" said Serafina as she reassured Rin and Rin smiled. Serafina was happy about her and Sesshomaru courting especially since they were taking things slow.
"I guess underneath his cold exterior, there is a heart there after all" Serafina thought. She knew she needed to inform her family eventually about her being courted by Sesshomaru but for now, they had bigger things to deal with. Dinner was served and the mood eventually lightened. Syuri showed Inuyasha a few of her powers and Inuyasha let Syuri touch his ears. They both knew the struggles of being half-demons and Kagome could not help but feel happy that Inuyasha finally felt like he belonged instead of feeling like an outcast. After dinner, everyone headed off to bed for tomorrow, her, Inuyasha and Sesshomaru were going to come up with a plan to attack Kyoran and defeat him once and for all.
Okay guys, Serafina and Sesshomaru are courting and taking things slow, however, there is still a way to go but it is a start. I am proud of how things are coming along with this story. Kyoran will try to find a way to make Serafina so the next chapter will be very interesting. Keep the reviews and comments coming. Thank you!
