Later that night after ice cream, Carrie and Felicity said goodnight to Alana, Phil, and Lois and went upstairs to their now-shared bedroom and got ready for bed. When Carrie first moved in, Phil put a leather sofa bed, which was lightly used for a few months (when he had guests visiting in his old apartment in New Jersey) before moving back to Buffalo after he married Alana, right next to the window by Felicity's bed. Phil told Carrie that she can use it for now until her new bed arrives 3 weeks after she and Felicity started their senior year at Ewen High. Carrie got into bed wearing a yellow nightgown while Felicity was in the bathroom putting on her short-sleeved pink nightgown with pictures of summer shoes on it. After Felicity put on her nightgown, she got out of the bathroom and tucked herself in as Stachi and Misty came in. Stachi jumped on Felicity's bed while Misty jumped on Carrie's. Felicity turned out the light and said, "'Night, Care." "'Night, Lyssie," Carrie replied. The alarm clock on Felicity's dresser read 11:15pm.
3 hours later... 2:15am
Felicity woke up when she heard Carrie screaming. "No! No! Lyssie, help me! Momma, stop! Get off me! Let me go!" Felicity jumped out of bed and ran towards her. "Carrie! Carrie, wake up." But Carrie could not wake up. She still kept screaming and tossed and turned. "No, Momma! No! No! Stop! HELP! HEEEEELP MEEEE!" Felicity pulled Carrie into a hug, but Carrie was still screaming. "Carrie, please wake up," Felicity said again. Alana and Phil rushed into the room after hearing Carrie scream. "Lyss, what's going on?" Alana asked. "Carrie's having a nightmare. I tried to wake her up, but she still kept screaming," Felicity answered. Phil and Alana looked at each other with concerned eyes. They definitely know why Carrie was having her nightmare. They went over to Carrie and Alana gently shook her as Felicity and Phil hugged her. Carrie finally opened her eyes, looked at Phil, Alana, and Felicity; then she buried her face in her hands and started crying. "I'm so sorry," Carrie sobbed. "I didn't mean to…" "It's okay, honey," Alana said, giving Carrie a hug. "Do you want to tell us about it?" Carrie nodded. "I'll go downstairs to make some hot chocolate," Phil offered. "It always helped Lyss when she had her nightmares."
As Phil made the hot chocolate in the kitchen, Alana helped Carrie get out of bed, change into a new nightgown, and washed the sweat and tears from her face with a cool washcloth while Felicity changed the sheets on Carrie's bed. The three went downstairs and Phil gave them their hot chocolate and started making one for himself and for Lois, who was also sitting at the table. Then, Carrie told them what happened in her dream. "...and then I tried to get away from Momma, but she still kept pulling me into the house with the knife still in her hand as Lyssie ran until I couldn't see her anymore." When Felicity heard that, she couldn't hear any more of the story. With tears now running down her face, she ran back upstairs to the bedroom. "Lyss…wait," Alana called and she followed her.
