A.n I own Nothing
Good news, my life has calmed down now so I will be back to updating my stories regularly
Sanji leaned against the wall out the front of a local inn smoking a cigarette watching the sun rise. After the Straw Hats had left the Merry they headed into the city for, they had stopped at a pub and the owner had directed them to a nearby inn. The crew checked in and were given a six bed dorm room, however instead of going straight to bed Luffy headed for the roof needing some time to think.
After an hour Zoro headed to the roof as well with Chopper to check on their captain and neither one had come back. Meanwhile Sanji, Nami and Connor tried to sleep but the cook found that he could not get more than an hour or two and he eventually got up and left as well. Nami also had couldn't sleep so she took the Ship Catalogues down to the main dining area and started going through them; making notes on prices and other aspects of the ships.
Once he had finished and the Sun was over the rooftops Sanji dropped his cigarette and put it out with his foot. He then headed back inside, he saw Nami munching on some toast and reading a local newspaper, there was paper spread out in front of her and the cook assumed it was her notes on the potential new ships for the Straw Hats. Sanji walked past her and headed back upstairs to their room.
When he got there he found Connor was sitting in a chair holding his knees in close to his chest and staring out the window towards the peninsula where the merry was docked.
Sanji walked over to him.
"Hey...have you been up all-night?" Sanji asked, though he suspected he knew the answer.
Connor turned and looked at the cook; he gave a nod in response.
"Nightmares again?"
"No...I didn't go to sleep last night," Connor admitted "at all,"
"You shouldn't stay up all night; kids your age need their sleep,"
"I just...I miss Usopp," Connor said sadly.
Sanji sighed, he figured as much.
"Yeah I know...but you have to understand Luffy has the whole crew to think of...not just single person," Sanji reasoned.
"Are you saying that you don't care that the Merry is going to sink?" Connor asked.
"Of course I care but...Luffy still has a dream to achieve as do we all and to achieve those dreams we need a working ship. We can't let one bad thing stop us….this is just another challenge in our journey,"
"It's not a nice challenge," Connor muttered.
"No but it is part of life," Sanji said.
Connor didn't seem convinced.
"You know when I was your age Zeff gave me some really good advice about changes in life," Sanji tried.
Connor looked up interested.
"He said life is like the Ocean tide, ever changing...ever moving forward. You can get on a boat and see where the tide will take you or remain and be submerged by life's relentless ways," Sanji said.
"I don't get it," Connor said.
"We all got on Luffy's boat for different reasons and Usopp is right….not all of us need to go as far as Luffy dose," Sanji claimed "Even if we do achieve our dreams before him…that doesn't mean we should get off Luffy's ship. I personally would want to see how far I could go,"
Connor stared at the cook for a moment, processing what Sanji had said. However he merely turned his attention back to the window and stared out it. Sanji figured the boy didn't understand and need more time to process what had happened.
"I'm going to find the others," Sanji said and he headed for the door.
"Sanji," Connor started.
Sanji was just about to open the room's door but stopped and looked back over at the boy.
"Usopp...is he going to be left behind and be submerged by the tide?" Connor asked.
"That is something Usopp has to decide for himself," Sanji answered before he walked out the door closing it behind him.
Sanji walked up the inn stairs to the roof where Luffy had said he was going last night, the rubber captain had not returned. The thought had occurred to Sanji that Luffy had gone to the inns kitchen but since there were no crashes and the owner was not kicking them out due to Luffys eating habits Sanji assumed that the rubber Captain was still on the roof.
When he got there he only saw Zoro and Chopper. Zoro was leaning against a rooftop shed with his eyes closed and Chopper was sitting on the railing looking over the city.
"So we got a room but no one slept...isn't that just a waste of money?" Sanji asked as he walked over.
Neither Zoro nor Chopper responded.
"Where's Luffy?" Sanji tried.
"Up there," Zoro said and he looked to a nearby rooftop that was taller than the inns.
Sanji walked over to the railing and looked up at the rubber captain.
"He's been up there all-night," Chopper commented.
"He's not the only one who didn't sleep, Connor didn't sleep either," Sanji claimed.
"Did you?" Zoro asked.
"I got one or two hours," Sanji shrugged "I was worried about Robin-chawn,"
"Maybe she went back to the ship...maybe she came back after what happened and is still there…we should go and check," Chopper suggested.
"Chopper...don't," Zoro warned.
Chopper stopped talking and looked down sadly.
"I doubt Robin-chawn came back to the ship after we left," Sanji said.
"Huh...how do you know?" Chopper asked.
"Because if she did she would have come here," Zoro answered.
"Usopp would have told her about the fight and that he left the crew...since only he is at the ship Robin-chawn would have known that we're staying in the city...with her power it would not take long for her to find us," Sanji explained.
"Oh," Chopper said sadly.
"That being said...I'm going to look for her," Sanji declared.
"Huh...you are?" Chopper asked.
"Yeah since she's not here then something could have happened to her...or worse,"
"Worse?" Chopper asked fearfully.
"What if she's going out with another man? Or someone who's not me swept her off her feet...no we have to find her before that happens," Sanji cried.
Chopper stared at the cook in shock and Zoro merely sighed.
"Hey Dumbass...Take the kid with you," Zoro said "It might help take his mind off last night,"
"I'll come too," Chopper declared.
"Alright let's get Connor and head out," Sanji agreed "Hang on Robin-chawn,"
Sanji and chopper headed back inside and once they were gone Zoro let out a sigh and turned to look up at Luffy. The Rubber captain made no indication that he heard any of the conversation.
"I don't know if Sanji's jokes are a good sign or a bad one," Zoro said to himself.
Sanji and Chopper went back
"Hey Connor we're going to look for Robin-chawn, come help us," Sanji said.
Connor looked over at the two and he nodded, he got out of the chair, picked up his sword and walked over to them. They left the room and headed out of the Inn, stopping to only briefly to let Nami know where they were going. Once they were outside they hopped into their Yaggara with Sanji driving.
None of them had breakfast and normally the cook would insist on having some before leaving, not to mention scold them for skipping the most important meal of the day. But it was fairly clear last nights events had taken it's toll and no one was hungry...so Sanji didn't press the issue.
"All right you two be sure to keep and eye out for Robin-chawn," Sanji told both Chopper and Connor
"Okay," Connor responded and started looking at the streets for Robin.
Chopper however just hung his head and stared at the water as the Yaggara continued down the canal.
Back at the Inn
Luffy and Zoro were still on the roof, Luffy had not come down yet and Zoro was taking a light nap. The swordsman was woken up by Nami as he burst out onto the roof.
"LUFFY...ICEBERGS BEEN SHOT!" She cried.
This got Luffy's attention and he came down and Nami told him what she had read in the newspaper that had only just been released.
"Wait...someone tried to kill Iceberg?" Luffy asked.
"Yeah, his body was found this morning. He's being treated but in a critical condition," Nami claimed.
"Who's Iceberg?" Zoro asked.
"He's the mayor and head shipwright of this Island," Nami explained "He gave us the catalogues for new ships,"
"Is he a good mayor?" Zoro asked.
"Yeah everyone we met seemed to like him and his assistant told us he was beloved and highly respected by the whole city…both Shipwrights and civilians alike," Nami explained.
"So then…who would want to shoot him?" Zoro wondered.
"Don't know…but I'm going to go see him," Luffy declared.
"Me too," Nami agreed, she then turned to Zoro.
"How about you…do you want to come?" she asked.
"Nah, I'm going to see how things play out," Zoro responded.
Luffy and Nami nodded and then they both left the hotel, they got on their Yaggara and made their way up to Dock 1; along the way Nami made a comment about the wind picking up and saying a storm would most likely pass through Water 7 at some point today.
Once they arrived both Nami and Luffy were shocked to find that the entirety of the Galley-La ship yard was blocked off. There was a massive crowed gathered both on the foot path and the cannel was filled with people on Yaggara. Some people were shouting loudly, demanding an update on Icebergs condition or any information.
"Wow….that is a big crowd," Luffy said in amazement.
"Yeah….it's going to make it hard to get in," Nami agreed.
She maneuverered the Yaggara up to one man who was on the edge of the crowd, he was just watching and waiting patiently.
"Excuse me, how do we get to the main office?" Nami asked politely.
"Hmm…you want to get in?" the man responded "sorry but that's not going to happen,"
"Why not?" Luffy asked.
"You herd that someone tired to kill Iceberg right…well Dock 1 and the Galley La compony have shut down and the shipwrights aren't letting anyone in…even their own staff,"
"Wait…the Galley La isn't letting their own shipwrights in?" Nami asked in shock.
"No there acting as guards and handling crowd control…I think the foreman went in earlier…at least I know Paulie did,"
"But then how did the newspaper get its information?" Luffy asked.
"Some press can get up to the front entrance of the office but that's it," the man claimed "basically if you're not a Forman then you don't get in,"
Nami nodded she thanked the man for the information and pulled the Yaggara away from the crowd and tuned to Luffy.
"Well what do we do now, we can't get in and it's likely that they won't be doing business anytime soon," Nami sighed.
"Hmm….Why don't we just barge in there ourselves?" Luffy suggested.
"Idiot," Nami scolded and hit Luffy on the head "We can't do that. That makes us look like the guilty party,"
"Oh…right," Luffy said "I suppose we should just wait and see what happens,"
Nami nodded and looked up at the clouds and saw they were moving abnormally fast.
"The wind…it's getting stronger," Nami said worriedly.
She was pulled out of her thoughts when a catchy drum beat started to be herd around the area.
"Huh…what's that music…where's it coming from?" Nami asked looking around.
"Yeah…Hey maybe there is a musician around, let's find him and make him part of the crew," Luffy said eagerly.
"We have more important things to worry about," Nami scolded.
"Oh no…this music," one man started.
"Don't tell me….why now…why today of all days?" another cried out.
"Quick let's get out of here," a woman said before running away.
"What's their problem…it's just a bit of music?" Nami commented. Though she was curios as to why people were starting to panic.
"HEY YOU GUYS DOWN BELOW….DID YOU CALL MY NAME?!" A new voice shouted from above.
"No we didn't," one person responded.
"Go away and Leave us alone," another shouted back.
Luffy and Nami looked around in confusion still not sure what was going on.
"Ow…Ow…I'm this Islands most super man," the voice sang "The face of Water 7's Underground,"
"Where is he?" one lady shouted.
"Oh he's up there," another man said and pointed to a nearby roof top. There was a thin pale pink sheet set up and three figures behind it doing a doing a dance of some kind behind it.
Luffy and Nami looked and the rest of the crowd started shouting insults at the three and accused them of being the ones that shot Iceberg. However this didn't seem to faze the three figures as they didn't hear what was being shouted at them probably because they were too high up.
Instead the dance took the shouting as cheering for their dramatic entrance. The figure in front grabbed the sheet and threw it away to reveal a big chested man and two girls standing behind them.
Franky is a powerfully built man, his forearms were enormous while his biceps are comparably small. His chest is well-toned with large abs and pectoral muscles. He had brightly-coloured blue hair and blue star tattoos on his forearms, his chin is very angular and tapers off in three pointed clefts and an angular prosthetic nose made of iron. He wore swim briefs and an open loud Hawaiian shirt with a large golden chain necklace around his neck and pretty cool looking sunglasses over his eyes.
The two girls were identical in every way, they had a unique hairstyle shaped in large squares; the only difference was their hair. One had slightly curly hair while the other was straight and they both have long pointed noses. One wore a pale green bikniy with a matching mini skirt and visor while the other wore a pink thin strapped tank top with matching gloves and pants.
"It's me Franky and I'm SUPERRRRR!" Franky cried out while doing a pose with his arms that made his two half star tattoos form into one big blue star and an explosion of smoke appeared behind them.
The two girls were also doing the same pose…but it didn't look as impressive.
Luffy and Nami stared up at the three in shock and disbelief. Luffy blinked a few times and before speaking. The rest of the crowed suddenly ran away in fear, Nami watched them all leave in amazement.
"That guys not wearing pants!" Luffy cried out "Where are his pants?"
"That's what you're focusing on?" Nami yelled.
"Now…" Franky started and removed his sunglasses to reveal raged filled eyes "SHOW YOURSELF STRAW HAT LUFFY!"
"Huh….why…Why is he calling my name?" Luffy asked.
"He said his name was Franky right…what if it's the same Franky as the ones who beat Usopp up and took our money," Nami said.
Anger instantly flooded Luffy's face; if that was the case then this was man who had caused his friends so much pain.
"SHOW YOURSELF STRAW HAT! I'M GOING TO MAKE YOU REGRET WHAT YOU DID TO MY BRO'S AND HOUSE!" Franky cried out. Confirming Nami's theory.
"He must be here for revenge….okay as long as we don't make ourselves known we might be able to…." Nami started.
"OI PANTS-LESS GUY….I'M LUFFY!" Luffy declared loudly.
"YOU IDIOT!" Nami yelled.
"So your Luffy huh….you want to explain why you trashed my house and beat my bro's up the way you did?" Franky asked while doing another dance with the two girls.
"HEY YOU!" Nami yelled out "WHERE'S OUR MONEY YOU TOOK…GIVE BACK OUR TWO MILLION BELI!"
"Huh….two million…I spent that already so I'm dead broke," Franky claimed "after all there's no crime in stealing from pirates,"
"That's okay," Luffy said standing up.
"No it's not…that was my money," Nami argued back "don't act like it doesn't matter,"
"I won't be satisfied….UNITL I'VE KICKED YOUR ASS!" Luffy shouted.
"Heh now you're talking my language," Franky agreed with a smirk.
He took in a deep breath and then unleashed a breath of fire over the crowd, it appred he did not care who he hit as long as Luffy was hurt. Luffy and Nami however ducked and the flames didn't quite seem to reach them.
"What the…he blew fire?" Luffy asked shocked.
"How….I thought there was only 1 fire based devil fruit," Nami said.
Suddenly Franky jumped off the roof and landed in the canal with a splash.
"Huh…he jumped into the water?" Luffy gasped.
"He has to have an ability…I mean what kind of idiot willingly jumps into water or is carless enough to fall in when they know they sink?" Luffy asked looking at Nami.
Nami shot a glare at Luffy.
"What….why are you looking at me like that?" Luffy asked.
Suddenly something hit the bottom of Luffy's and Nami's Yaggara and sent it flying with both Luffy and Nami. Fraky emerged from the water and watched both straw hats fall; Nami landed in the canal and quickly swam to shore, Luffy however stretched his arm to a nearby building and lunched himself at Franky.
"Gomu-Gomu no…." Luffy started as he prepared he attack.
"Strong Right!" Franky cried out and his fist suddenly detached from his arm and flew through the air. It hit Luffy in the stomach and slammed him into the big metal door that led to Dock 1.
"What…how…how can he have 2 different abilities?" Nami gasped.
Franky retracted his fist and swam over to path, Luffy fell to the ground.
"Ow….that hurt….why did that hurt?" he moaned "punches aren't supposed to hurt,"
Franky climbed up out of the water and walked over to Luffy who was pushing himself up; both he and Nami were very concerned that Franky apparently had more than one Devil Fruit power.
"I see you're confused, the fact is I have not eaten any devil fruit. I am a human robot…a Cyborg," Franky declared.
"A...A Human Robot...THAT"S SO COOL!" Luffy cried out in admiration with sparkles in his eyes.
"Isn't it, it you're going to be SUPER manly then you have to do it right," Franky agreed.
"If I wasn't so pissed off at you I would ask you to join my crew," Luffy said.
"Even if I wasn't pissed at you I would still say no," Franky said.
"HEY DO YOU SHOOT LASERS!" Luffy asked excitably.
"Sadly no...I'm not that manly," Franky said disappointingly.
"Aww...but lasers are cool," Luffy whined. He was disappointed.
"I know..." Franky started. Suddenly his attitude shifted and he took a heroic pose.
"But one day I will figure out how to modify a certain part of my body safely to shoot lasers...women will be all over me and be like he's so cool and manly," Frank declared.
"Your already manly Aniki," the two girls cheered together from the roof top.
"NO WE WILL NOT!" Nami yelled in response.
"YEAH THAT'S THE SPIRIT, YOU CAN DO IT! I BELIEVE IN YOU!" Luffy cried out, ignoring Nami but happy to encourage Franky.
"WHY ARE YOU ENCOURAGING HIM!" Nami screamed at Luffy.
"Well enough warm ups, I'm going to take every bit of pain you gave my bros and dish it back out a hundred fold on you," Franky said seriously.
