Chopper and Sanji carefully approached the Merry; they hid behind large mounds and Rocks that were scattered around the peninsula. Once they were close enough they poked their heads out and looked at the Merry.
"I don't hear anything….do you think Usopp is still there?" Sanji asked.
"He should be, his injuries were severe…he shouldn't be able to move much at all," Chopper claimed.
While they had been out looking for Robin an announcement was made over the city, Aqua Laguna was going to strike tonight just after midnight and the announcement advised everyone prepare and head to the shelters. Sanji, Chopper and Connor had of course no Idea what Aqua Laguna was so they asked a passing man.
The man informed them that it was a massive tidal wave that hit the city each year, the wave was so big that is submerged the entire lower and lower mid sections of the city. The man was also kind enough to tell them where all the shelters were so they could wait out the storm.
This news had naturally concerned the three Straw Hats as Robin was still unaccounted for. Chopper however was more concerned about Usopp, due to the snipers injures it would be unlikely that he would be moving anytime soon and Chopper feared that by the time he was well enough to move it would be too late to get to safety.
So despite what happened last night Sanji agreed that given the impending tidal wave and Usopp's condition the sniper needed to be informed about the danger. When they arrived at the Yaggara rental place Sanji and Chopper left Connor behind to look after the bulls.
Due to Zoro saying that the crew could never go back to the Merry, taking Connor back would volatile the swordsman's orders.
"Okay we let's do this, we need to be loud and quick," Sanji said standing up and
Both Sanji and Chopper came out of hiding, they stood in full view of the Merry and faced each other; they both took deep breaths.
"DID YOU HEAR A GAINT TIDAL WAVE IS GOING TO HIT THE CITY!" Sanji screamed as loud as he could.
"A GAINT TIDAL WAVE?!" Chopper shouted back.
"YES A GAINT TIDAL WAVE! IT WILL HIT THE CITY JUST AFTER MIDNIGHT TONIGHT AND THIS WHOLE AREA WILL BE SUBMERGED UNDERWATER!"
"UNDERWATER!"
"THAT'S RIGHT THE LOWER HALF OF THE CITY WILL BE COMPLETELY FLOODED!"
"OH NO…WE SHOULD GET TO A SHELTER!"
"YES WE MOST DEFITLY SHOULD EVACUATE AND GET TO A SHELTER TO AVIDE THE TIDAL WAVE!'
The two stopped shouting and looked back over at the merry, they herd something move around in the cabin and instantly ran away. They did not want to be caught by Usopp as they were not supposed to be there themselves.
A few seconds later Usopp came out on the deck and looked around.
"Hmm….was someone out here?" Usopp asked.
He looked over the peninsula but didn't see anyone.
"That's odd, I thought I heard someone shouting about getting to a shelter and hiding," Usopp claimed.
He then felt how strong the wind was getting.
"The winds picked up…I hope it doesn't rain," Usopp said before going back inside the cabin.
Connor was waiting patiently on a bench just outside the Bull Rental station inside the city limits, he was not waiting long and Sanji and Chopper came back.
"How did it go?" he asked as the other two Straw Hats approached.
"He was there and we shouted the news about Aqua Lagna at the top of our lungs. I just hope he doesn't stay," Chopper said
"We warned him, what he does next is up to him," Sanji said "Come on, we need to find Robin-chawn,"
"Right," Chopper agreed.
They got back on their Bull and started to search again; as they were looking Connor suddenly had a thought.
"Hey Sanji….what if Robin already left Water 7?" Connor asked.
"What do you mean?" Chopper asked "The Merry can't sail, she couldn't have left,"
I was just thinking….what if Robin got on the sea train and went to another Island?" Connor asked.
"If she did that will be a problem," Sanji sighed "But it's unlikely,"
"Why?"
"Well since there Aqua Lagna is coming tonight I doubt the train would be running," Sanji said.
"But the fact that it is coming tonight…wouldn't that mean that lots of people would be evacuating by sea train for a day or two while it passes?" Connor asked.
"If Robin did leave it would be impossible to find her again…she could pick up another ship at wherever she went," Chopper said.
"Maybe we should check the station…just to be sure," Connor suggested.
"Yeah….okay," Sanji agreed.
They headed to the Train Station and when they got there they saw a massive line of people, the que led around the corner and almost everyone had a bag or a suitcase with them.
"That's a lot of people," Connor said "Do you think Robin is in that line?"
"Maybe….let's see if we can find someone to ask," Sanji said.
He parked the Yaggara and the three crew members got off, Sanji went to the station master and asked about the sea trains and to see if anyone fitting Robins description had been boarded. Chopper found a notice of the trains schedule for Aqua Lagna and Connor wondered down the line looking for Robin.
After about ten minutes both Chopper and Sanji were back at the Yaggara and waiting for Connor to come back.
"So any luck?" Chopper asked.
"No, the guy in selling tickets didn't see any one matching Robin-chawn's description," Sanji sighed "How did you go?"
"I got this," Chopper said and handed the
Sanji took it and looked at the paper; it was a train schedule for today.
"So there are 3 trains out of Water 7 today," Sanji read "11am, 2pm and 11:00pm,"
"Well it's nearly 11:30am so that means the next one is at 2pm," Chopper pointed out "Maybe Robin will be on that one,"
"Yeah…although why is a train scheduled to leave so close to when the Aqua Lagna is meant to hit?" Sanji asked "wouldn't the sea be too rough?"
"Well the sea train is not like any other ship we've encountered….so maybe it can handle the bigger and rougher waves," Chopper suggested.
"I guess…..though why would its destination be Enis Lobby?" Sanji wondered.
Chopper was about to ask what Enis Lobby was but Connor called out to them before he could. The two turned to see the boy running towards them holding what looked to be a newspaper.
"Sanji, Chopper," Connor called out as he ran up to them.
"Hey did you find her?" Sanji asked hopefully.
Connor shook his head.
"No but there was a man giving these out and he gave me one," Connor said and held up a newspaper.
On the front page read "Wanted" in large bold letters and beneath it was three pictures of familiar looking pirates.
"I can't read most of it….but that defiantly says wanted right?" Connor asked and pointed to the big "and that is defiantly Luffy, Zoro and Robin,"
Sanji snatched the paper out of Connor's hand and quickly scanned the article.
"This is bad…it says that The Straw Hat crew have been Identified as the ones who attacked Iceberg last night," Sanji read "It says Iceberg recovered and told the foremen who tried to kill him,"
"What?! No way Luffy wouldn't do that," Chopper claimed.
"Yeah and neither would Robin…she's too nice," Connor agreed.
"Wait
"Our names and faces aren't mention…so we should be safe as long we don't openly reveal our connection to Luffy," Sanji claimed "Besides with people taking shelter and leaving due to the tidal wave tonight we shouldn't have too much to worry about as long as we don't do anything suspicious,"
"Let's keep looking," Sanji said.
He got back into the Yaggara and put the newspaper in his back poket along with the train schedule. Chopper and Connor got in as well and they continued the search. As they were looking around the vast city Sanji noticed that a lot of the locals were sealing their doors and windows with metal plating's in preparation for the oncoming storm.
By about 3pm the streets were nearly all deserted and the only ones left were Galley-La works who were out looking for the Straw Hats. They had been stopped a few times and told to get to one of the shelters in the city but Sanji claimed they were looking for Icebergs would be Assassin.
Which was not technically a lie and once the streets became deserted it was easier to move around…however the water in the canals had started to produce rough waves. It was nothing the Yaggara could not handle but Sanji knew that it would only get rougher and more dangerous.
"Hey wait a second," Chopper said suddenly and he gave the air a quick sniff.
"What?" Sanji asked.
"I smell Robin," Chopper said happily.
"Really?" Connor asked eager to find the missing crewmate.
"Yeah it's defiantly her," Chopper claimed.
"Which way?" Sanji asked.
Chopper gave the air a few more sniffs in different directions and then shifted into his hybred form.
"That way," Chopper announced and pointed down an alley way.
"Alright hold on," Sanji ordered as he maneuverered the Yaggara to change direction sand speed up.
Following Choppers directions they headed down a few back ally streets until they reached a dead end in the canals, chopper got out of the Yaggara and led Sanji and Connor down a few more streets on foot until they were in front of a large building with arches and there across a canal that separated the path from the back of the building was Robin.
"Robin you're okay," Connor said happily with a smile. He was happy to see that Robin was safe.
"Robin-chawn, thank goodness," Sanji breathed in relief "we've been looking for since yesterday. Everyone's been worried about you, let's go back to the inn and put their minds at rest,"
"Yeah lots of stuff happened that we need to tell you about," Chopper said "with Usopp and the Merry…but we'll explain on the way,"
"No, that won't be necessary," Robin responded "Because I will not be returning with you,"
Sanji, Chopper and Connor stared at her in disbelief for a few seconds.
"W…What do you mean you're not coming back with us?" Connor asked.
"I mean exactly that, the straw hats and must part ways in this town," Robin said "in other words I am leaving the crew,"
"You're...you're leaving too?" Chopper asked softly.
"Yes, I have no need to sail with you lot any longer," Robin said.
Connor and Chopper stared at Robin unable to move or speak, as they were shocked at
"Ah…oh I get it, you're worried about the newspaper today right? Well don't worry none of us believe that you tried to kill Iceberg," Sanji said.
"But I did do it," Robin said.
Sanji, Connor and Chopper all froze.
"I walked right up to Iceberg and I shot him," she confessed coldly "It was rather easy to do,"
"Y…You did it?" Connor asked "Why?"
"You do not need to know my reasons, only that I did it," Robin said "and the fact that he is still alive is the only reason I am still here,"
"Wait does that mean…" Sanji started but trailed of as he was afraid to finish the sentence.
"Yes, I will go back tonight and finish the job, after that I will leave this Island and you will never see me again," Robin said seriously.
"Y…you can't…" Chopper tried, he was on the verge of crying.
"I can and I will,"
"But why…why are you doing this?" Connor asked "It's not like you,"
"None of you know anything about me," Robin snapped defensively. She took a calming breath "And as for why as I said the reasons are my own,"
"Robin-chawn…please don't go. Talk to us, tell us what is wrong," Sanji pleaded.
Robin closed her eyes and shook her head. She opened them again and they were filled with regret.
"No, I am sorry for framing you all for this horrible crime but I cannot go back with you or tell you why,"
"But what will I tell Luffy when he asks for the reason why you left?" Sanji asked "you have to give him something,"
"Then tell him…tell him that there darkness in me and a goal that I want…something I want more than anything and cannot achieve it while I am with you," Robin said sadly.
"Your goal…what goal?" Chopper asked "What are you talking about?"
"I am sorry but that is personal. Thank you for being kind and so nice to me," Robin said "This is goodbye forever,"
Robin turned around with her back to the Straw Hats.
"I relinquish my claim on you Connor…goodbye," Robin said before she walked into the shadows of the building. Connor felt his band pulse indicating that Robin had indeed given up any claim on him, he looked down and subconsciously covered it with his right hand.
"Robin wait," Sanji called out and he jumped into the canal but by the time he reached the other side Robin was gone.
Sanji went back over to Connor and Chopper both of who had tears in their eyes. Sanji didn't blame them, Chopper was very naive and Connor was a child. It was hard on all of the crew losing Usopp and the Merry but now Robin was gone too.
'We lost three members of the crew in under 24hrs,' Sanji thought as he looked back at the spot Robin had just been standing in. Sanji was pulled out of his thoughts when he felt something tug on his shirt, he looked down to see it was Connor and he was looking up at him with tears in his eyes.
"Sanji…I don't understand…why is this happening? Why is everyone leaving?" Connor asked with a sniffle.
"Yeah first Usopp and now Robin. Was it because I wanted to look in a book shop?" Chopper asked.
"Or because I'm not learning fast enough….I'm doing my best really," Connor added.
Sanji sighed and bent got down to on one knee so he was eye level with Connor and close to Choppers height.
"Don't worry, I'm sure it's nothing to do with either of those," Sanji assured.
"But why would she do this…it's not like her," Connor said. Chopper nodded in agreement.
"I don't know…I really don't know," Sanji admitted softly.
He turned and looked thoughtfully in the direction Robin had disappeared. Something was off, Sanji could not explain it but something did not feel right about this whole situation. He didn't care what the newspaper said, Connor was right. He did not think for one second that Robin would harm Iceberg nor was she capable of killing in cold blood.
"You two head back to the Inn and let the others know what she said….I'm going to try and get to the truth,"
"But we only have one Yaggara and the waves are getting worse," Chopper argued.
"I'll be fine, just head back and wait for Luffy," Sanji said "I'll meet up with you later,"
Sanji then ran off leaving Chopper and Connor behind.
"Come on, let's go," Chopper said sadly. Connor looked down and followed the doctor, praying that Sanji wouldn't disappear too.
Chopper and Connor boarded the Yaggara and headed back towards the Inn to wait for Luffy and Nami to return. However along the way Chopper caught Nami's perfume and he followed it to a bridge and hanging underneath it was Luffy with Zoro and Nami sitting on top of him.
Chopper and Connor helped them back up onto the path and Luffy claimed they were hiding from an angry mob who had been chasing them. They all headed back to the Inns rooftop to discuss what happened to each group.
"So you got to see Iceberg then?" Chopper asked.
"Yeah after some robot attacked us," Luffy said.
"Robot!" Chopper asked.
"Yeah he was really cool, he could spit fire and his arm came off and he had some kind of cannon is his hand," Luffy said excitedly.
"WHAO SO COOL!" Chopper swooned.
"No it was not," Nami said irritably "thanks to him picking a fight with Luffy the other carpenters got involved and we had to run,"
"But…didn't you just say you saw Iceberg?" Connor asked.
"Oh he did," Nami sighed.
"But if they were after you how did you get in?" Chopper asked.
"Easy, I crashed through one of the upper floor window and ran around the mansion till I found him," Luffy smiled.
"Of course you did," Zoro groaned "So what did he say?"
"He said Robin attacked him last night," Luffy said gravely, his smile fading.
"Oh…I guess that proves it," Connor said regretfully "She wasn't lying after all,"
"Wait…you found Robin?" Nami asked.
Connor nodded, he and chopper told the rest of the crew about what the day's events; they left out going to warn Usopp about Aqua Lagna though and when they were done they sat in silence processing what had happened.
"So that confirms it…she did do it," Zoro said.
"Yeah she did," Chopper agreed.
"But she didn't kill Iceberg, she didn't kill anyone," Connor defended
"Hey where did Sanji go?" Luffy asked, he looked around but the cook was not with the group.
"Yeah he wasn't with you two when you found us," Nami agreed.
"He went to try and find Robing again," Connor answered.
"So Luffy…what do we do?" Zoro asked.
"Isn't it obvious? We need to find Robin again," Luffy declared.
"But if she left the crew…" Nami started.
"She can't leave, I'm the captain and I say she can't leave. Robin is our Nakama; I have to tell her that,"
"Yeah plus she only told Sanji, Chopper and Connor that she was leaving right?" Zoro added "but not Luffy,"
"What difference does that make?" Connor asked.
"Normally if someone wants to leave a crew they need to tell the captain directly. Neither you two or Sanji are the captain so to up and leave like she did would be disrespectful and when has that woman ever been disrespectful,"
"Would she even know about that?" Chopper asked.
"Well she was with Crocodile for a while and that admiral said she had been part of other criminal organisations and pirate groups as well," Nami remembered.
"So…does that mean she wants to stay with us?" Connor asked hopefully.
"Maybe, but that still doesn't explain why she would want to kill Iceberg in the first place," Nami pointed out.
"Maybe her goal has something to do with it," Connor suggested.
"What goal?" Luffy asked.
"Robin said that she had a goal, something she really wanted but could not achieve it while she was with us," Connor answered "maybe that goal had something to do with Iceberg,"
"Possibly, there was a wanted poster in his room of her after all," Luffy agreed.
"But what connection dose Robins goal have to Iceberg?" Chopper asked "She said she had never been to Water 7 before,"
"Hmm….well why don't we ask her?" Luffy suggested "let's find her and ask what her goal is and why she hurt Ice-man,"
"Iceberg," Nami corrected.
"That's easier said then done," Chopper responded "It took us all afternoon to find her and even then I think we only managed to do so because she wanted to be found,"
"I got that impression too," Connor agreed.
"Well….what if we went to a place where we knew Robin would be?" Luffy asked "then we could ask her,"
"And where would that be?" Nami scolded "Do you know places she likes to hang out in?"
"Bookshops," Chopper answered.
"Ancient ruins," Zoro added.
"Coffee and meat shops," Luffy said.
Everyone turned and looked at Luffy with raised eyebrows.
"What she's always asking Sanji for coffee and everyone needs meat," Luffy shrugged.
"She did say she was going to finish the job tonight," Connor agreed "I suppose that means she will be at Icebergs house,"
"Right let's head to Ice blocks house and see if she's there. If not we will wait for her," Luffy declared.
"ARE YOU EVER GOING TO SAY HIS NEAME RIGHT?!" Nami yelled.
"Before we head over there…dose anyone else thing this might be a trap?" Zoro asked.
"A trap…why would you think that it's a trap?" Luffy asked.
"Think about it, we can't find Robin at all and then she shows up and tells these two," Zoro said and gestured to Connor and Chopper "that not only she did shoot someone but blamed the attack on us and then she tells us where she is going to be,"
"Well….that dose seem suspicious," Chopper agreed.
"No way Robin would not do that to us," Connor defended "and she hasn't killed anyone,"
"She hasn't killed anyone yet," Zoro snapped back "All I'm saying it's a possibility she's setting us up. If this Iceberg is as well-loved as you lot claim then he will be guarded. Especially after that stunt Luffy pulled today,"
"So what we just leave her behind without finding out why she did this in the first place?" Luffy asked angrily.
"No, I'm saying we need to be careful and plan ahead. Running in will not help in fact it will attract unwanted attention and Robin will most likely use that as a diversion and escape," Zoro claimed "Plus finding a woman who hid from the government for 20yrs won't be easy…in fact it will be impossible,"
"So our options are to search the city again or go to the Shipyard where she may or may not have a trap for us," Chopper stated.
"That's about it," Zoro sighed.
"Well then I guess we have no choice," Luffy said standing up "Lets head to the Galley-La compony,"
