Author's Note: Hey, everybody, and welcome to the big crossover between Spider-Man and the Marvel Universe with the world of Disney/Pixar's The Incredibles.
I'd like to clear up some minor things - I had some inspiration from those who also wrote their own crossovers between Spidey and The Incredibles, so I took my own Spider-Man/Incredibles crossover in a whole, new direction with a few nods or more.
Set in an alternate, shared world where the Marvel universe and the Incredibles universe collide and merged together, "Spider-Man and the Incredibles" retells and reimagines the narrative of the two Incredibles movies - with the inclusion of the heroes of the Marvel Universe and how an all-new, all-different young Peter Parker became a new Super known as Spider-Man and how he helped the Parrs, a family of Supers forced to adopt civilian lives, spring into action as the Incredibles. Peter's story includes a glimpse into some big events from The Incredibles and Incredibles 2...that may look a little different from his side of things.
But first, a few things to go over...
*The following crossover follows the trope of a P.O.V. Sequel, Perspective-Flip, and Crossover Alternate Universe.
*It takes most of the Marvel Animated Universe (Earth-1204) and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order (Earth-TRN765), a dash of Marvel Rising (Earth-TRN684), Marvel Future Avengers (Earth-TRN642), Marvel: Future Revolution (Earth-TRN883) and the Ultimate Marvel Universe (Earth-1610) that is somewhat similar to the mainline 616. And very few all-ages from Marvel Action (IDW Publishing) (Earth-18157), Power Pack (Earth-5631) and Marvel Adventures (Earth-20051).
*Their backstories, experiences, and origin stories in the crossover are VERY different from all their original stories and works in comics.
*Inspired by how the Ben 10 universe and the DC Universe become the same universe and the romantic shipping of Ben Tennyson and Supergirl in "Ben 10/Justice League" by Darkstorm1364, the following crossover will have the Marvel Universe and the Incredibles universe be the same universe together, and Peter Parker develops a romantic relationship with Violet Parr during the crossover.
*The version of Peter Parker/Spider-Man is all new and all different from the other versions of the character
*The version of Aunt May will be based on the concept art of herself from Marvel's Spider-Man (PS4) as she looked like Aunt May from the early comics.
*In the tradition of "Marvel Studios' What If...?", the crossover explores what would happen if the events of 'The Incredibles' and 'Incredibles 2' occur differently if the Marvel Universe and the Incredibles universe become one and the same.
*The following heroes of the Marvel Universe in this crossover are mostly based on characters in their modern designs that are from and based on Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order, the Marvel Animated Universe, Marvel Rising, etc., etc.

Greetings, true believers!
What you are about to witness is one of the countless alternate realities that diverge from the ones you know. These worlds, observed by Uatu the Watcher, are filled with numerous stories that unfold when one part of history changes and things turn out quite differently.
While some of these events and characters may seem familiar, just remember that nothing will ever be the same as you are about to enter one of these vast, new realities where a single choice created a whole recent history, a new universe…and a new hero.
Long ago (maybe not so long ago), in a time of epic extraordinary times when heroes called Supers soared through the sky and protected the people and the world from harm and the plots of evil supervillains, ordinary citizens idolized these unique heroes -– heroes like Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, Frozone, and Gazerbeam -– for protecting the city of Municiberg.
Those were the golden glory days of heroes. At least, that's how the story often goes.
But in this universe, more new Supers appeared in the Golden Age, ones that not only had powers like them but they still fought crime with their own weapons and skills of such brilliance, determination, and extraordinary audacity that even Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, Frozone, and other Supers became buddy-buddy with these new heroes - the Avengers, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, the Defenders, the Inhumans, and of course, the international peacekeeping organization known as SHIELD.
To tell that story, we must go back, back to the beginning, when the Golden Age of Supers was just a dream.
Long ago, in another time and another place, the world was very different. Ordinary civilians were just doing their daily business. Among them were those who were born with extraordinary gifts to help benefit the world, those who rose up to the challenge and defeated foes who would do harm and keep the world safe. In time, the world was filled with action and excitement. And the best part was that there were SUPERHEROES!
During those glory days in the Golden Age of Supers, heroes would use their powers to make a difference in our world, from rescuing people to fighting crooks, preventing worldwide disasters, stopping villainous plots, and protecting innocent people. One struggle always leads to another.
Among those heroes were Frozone, Elastigirl, Gazerbeam, and Mr. Incredible. But more other Supers out there have also fought crime – not just their powers, but also weapons, gadgets, and smarts of their own – like the Super Soldier Captain America, the invincible Iron Man, the adamantium clawed X-Man Wolverine, the mighty Asgardian god of thunder Thor, the incredilbe Hulk, and many, many more.
Things were going pretty good for all the legendary crimefighters…that is, until it quickly came crashing down. Thanks to a certain Super being sued for saving someone who didn't ask to be saved, it was open season for all the Supers as more lawsuits followed. It was only a matter of time before the government got involved and started the Super Relocation Program (SRP) to protect the heroes. They will never again resume hero work, so they won't be held responsible for their past actions.
The Golden Age of Supers ended as the years passed, and our heroes lived everyday lives and went underground.
…And that's exactly what Benjamin Franklin Parker told his little nephew, ten-year-old Peter Parker, who was getting ready for bed, listening to his uncle's stories about the glory days. At first, young Peter didn't believe his uncle when he said he knew Mr. Incredible. But surely enough, Ben was there during those good times as a grown believer in Supers. He was heartbroken when Mr. Incredible and the other heroes were forced underground.
"Those heroes were trying to help people, not harm them," Ben continued. "They were trying to remind us of who we are on the inside and that there's still hope someday. I, too, hoped that those laws would disappear, and the Supers would return to help people again. Like that'll ever happen."
"Are you mad, Uncle Ben?" young Peter asked.
"No, Peter. I'm not mad, just heartbroken," Uncle Ben replied. "Listen, this isn't the world I want you to live in. I believe Supers will return once the government realizes its mistakes, but there comes a time when someone has to take the first step. Let me give you a little piece of advice?"
"What's that?"
"There comes a time when a young boy becomes the man he will be for the rest of his life. Just be careful who you will turn into. You'll soon feel this power of becoming a man, and with this great power comes great responsibility."
Young Peter smiled up at his uncle as he hugged him tightly. Then, as he went to sleep, Peter dreamed of being a famous Super.
Peter listened thoughtfully to everything his uncle told him as he grew up in New Urbem from a little boy to a school-age age. But sometimes, Peter knew he didn't quite fit in and wasn't sure if it was because he was a focused and straight-A student or because he had secret dreams of being a Super. Adjusting to his everyday life and concentrating on his studies, Peter felt like he was the image of a perfect student, and some of his classmates didn't pay him much attention because of his grades. Sometimes, that got him down in the dumps.
But what happened next was the greatest tragedy Peter had ever faced – one that would change his life forever.
It all happened when Peter's class took a field trip to a vast museum. Everything was going well until a bored Peter suddenly noticed a strange spider crawling in his hand. When the spider bit Peter, he became unconscious at first, and the little spider escaped as everything faded to black.
Soon, Peter wakes up from the little spider's odd impact, only to discover he has been given superhuman strength and agility. He could stick to walls and climb up the ceiling, plus Spider-sense that warns him of any danger. He now had superpowers!
At first, Peter was excited to have the powers of a Super. Still, as awesome as it was, Peter knew he could get in trouble if anyone saw him have superpowers. He had to find Uncle Ben as soon as possible to tell him and show him at home while figuring out what to do with his newly given powers.
But that night, things didn't go well for Peter. As he looked around the city for his uncle, he noticed a few police cars in front of a building. He raced there and found his uncle lying motionless.
"Uncle!" Peter cried as he quickly approached Uncle Ben and held him in his arms. "Uncle, please get up! I'll help you!"
But Uncle Ben looked at Peter sadly. "Peter… I'm sorry…"
"Wh-What are you apologizing for?" Peter asked in alarm.
"There was so much…I wanted to tell you…" Uncle Ben continued. "But it looks like I will have to leave you now…"
Peter realized what his uncle meant. He wanted his nephew to move on – without him. "Uncle! No!"
"Listen to me… There's still hope left… So, don't give up on that hope… Be careful…"
As Uncle Ben slowly closed his eyes, Peter couldn't believe what he saw right before him – his uncle was dead. "You can't… You can't die! Uncle, please!"
It was a painful event for Peter, but soon, he knew what he wanted to do for the rest of his life.
From that moment on, Peter's mind was made up. He vowed to use his newfound powers to help people like the Supers he and his uncle admired, even if it meant…leaving New Urbem forever. So, before long, Peter said goodbyes to his friends, wishing them all the best and hoping they would reply.
And so, Peter moved to an entirely different city to start anew – the suburban town of Metroville.
The morning sun rose over Metroville as it did every day when neighbors and citizens began their morning routines. Now a young teen, Peter Parker was in the middle of a fantastic yet familiar dream when he rolled over his bed and fell to the floor. His eyes suddenly opened. "I'm up, I'm up! I'm awake!"
Peter dreamed he was a famous Super, fighting dangerous crooks and protecting the city from harm. It was his favorite dream when he was little. But now, Peter stretched himself into good shape, preparing to take on the world as he hurried around his new room to get dressed for school.
Peter ensured he got his schoolwork, red notebook, and phone while wearing regular clothes. But underneath his clothes were his homemade super-suit and self-designed web-shooters.
Ever since Peter moved from New Urbem to live with his aunt, Maybelle Parker, in Metroville, he had a lot of ideas in store, and now he had the powers of a Super.
First, Peter made his homemade red and blue super-suit and red mask to keep his identity a secret, stitching a giant spider on the front to symbolize his powers being given by a spider. He also designed web shooters to put on his wrists to practice shooting super-strong webs.
Second, Peter reviewed every news article about the forbidden superhero laws, knowing that Uncle Ben's stories were true. He also learned about the National Supers Agency (NSA), which funded the Super Relocation Program to protect former Supers. And who knows? Maybe SHIELD might be in cahoots with them.
Thirdly, Peter decide to became a wiz at school in chemistry and science, writing down formulas and chemicals that will help make advanced web-fluid forms for his web-shooters. Focusing on good grades, he became good at math, mechanics, and more.
And so it happened that Peter got the hang of things as he practiced his skills and web-shooting at a remote and quiet place where no one could find him. Time passed, and Peter gave himself a superhero name: Spider-Man.
Peter grew more substantial and innovative daily as he stopped crooks in their tracks. Then he took a selfie on his phone camera to show a job well done before fleeing the scene. Although Peter made things easier for the police for quite some time, he sadly knew they could not and would not support Supers like him.
As night began to fall, Peter quickly (and finally) made it home through his room window, changing into his pajamas to get some shut-eye.
But little did he know that a new adventure was just around the corner and something huge was about to happen…
Waking up bright and early, Peter jumped out of bed the next day and stretched as his aunt called out. "Peter, let's go! You'll be late for school!"
"Okay!" Peter called back as he combed his hair, washed his face, brushed his teeth, and everything. Then, he put on his regular clothes over his homemade super-suit and packed his things in his schoolbag as he went downstairs for a quick breakfast.
"You seemed fresh already," Aunt May replied warmly. "My neighbor Helen is coming over and bringing her family along, too."
"Who?" Peter asked in confusion, finishing his breakfast.
"Helen Parr. She's my neighbor from a few blocks away and bringing her family to meet you."
"Great! For a minute there, I thought it just slipped my mind."
Just then, a school bus appeared as Aunt May shouted. "Hey! The bus is here! Go, go, go!"
Peter rushed outside the house, giving his aunt a hug and thumbs-up as he ran to catch the bus. "Bye, Aunt May! BRB!"
"Goodbye, Peter! Good luck!" Aunt May waved back to his nephew and went inside, unaware of the morning news that showed Peter's recent heroic attempts as Spider-Man.
Onboard the bus, Peter sat by the window at the back, looking over his red notebook. Its pages included sketches and designs for his super-suit, formulas to improve his web-shooting, and other stuff he'll need during class.
Just then, a voice appeared, getting Peter's attention. "Hey, is this seat taken?"
Peter looked up to see a young girl about his age with long, black hair that covered the left side of her face. She wore a long-sleeved, purple sweatshirt and dark grey jeans. She seemed insecure, awkward, and typically shy.
"No, not at all!" Peter replied, letting this cute girl sit next to him. Then, he quickly put his red notebook back inside his schoolbag to keep it hidden from her.
"Are you new here?" The girl asked Peter.
"Nah, I just started a month ago," Peter replied, then introduced himself. "I'm Peter Parker."
"Parker? As in May Parker from a few blocks?"
"Yeah, she's my aunt. Mind telling me your name?"
"It's Violet."
"Violet… That's an interesting name."
Violet shrugged.
Soon, the bus reached Western View Junior High, and all the students bounded off the bus. Peter let Violet go first anyway and followed her.
"By the way," Peter began to ask. "You got any after-school tutoring clubs?"
"No," Violet answered. "Not that I'm aware of."
"Just checking."
As school began and the students scurried to their classes, Peter went to work as a straight-A student again, being at the top of the game. Not only that, but he and Violet shared the same classrooms together. At first, Peter was still a total wiz, but then he got it. But high school was one thing. Keeping his spidey identity under wraps during school was another.
In chemistry class, Peter carefully made new batches of web fluid formulas with a beaker and a set of chemicals using the procedures he wrote in his red notebook. He was unaware that Violet was glancing at him, trying to find out what he was doing.
Then there was design class, where Peter made a belt with cartridges that would go with his homemade super-suit. "Now, this is perfect."
Finally, the school bell rang as Peter passed the other students, leaving the school building. "Excuse me, pardon me! Coming through!"
As weeks passed, Peter did the same old routine, focusing on his grades and improving his homemade super-suit. "Some things never change, do they?"
The next day, Peter was in his room, getting himself ready for the Parrs to come over for tonight as he cleaned up his room. He paused when he saw an old photo of his young uncle Ben with Mr. Incredible.
Peter smiled at the framed photo. "I missed you, Uncle."
The following night, the doorbell rang as Aunt May went to answer the door. She was excited to see her neighbor, Helen Parr, and her family. She called out to her nephew. "Peter, our guests are here!"
Peter trotted downstairs and went over to the Parrs, introducing himself. "Hi there, I'm Peter Parker."
"Nice to meet you," Helen replied. "Your aunt told me much about you. I can't tell how thrilling this is." She then introduced Peter to the rest of her family as Helen first gestured to her husband. "This is my husband, Bob."
Peter turned to see Bob Parr, a muscular man over sixty-four pounds and losing a bit of his blonde hair, and shook hands with him, holding quite a grip.
"Whoah, strong grip," Bob said, smiling.
"Same goes for you, too," Peter replied.
Then, Peter was introduced to the Parr kids. The first was baby Jack-Jack, who cooed happily at Peter.
"Hi, little guy," Peter greeted Jack-Jack.
The second was Dash, a ten-year-old middle child.
"I'm Dash Parr, the coolest kid on the block," Dash introduced himself, acting like he was full of charisma as he and Peter shook hands and gave each other high-fives.
"Or so he says," Helen muttered to Aunt May.
And finally, Peter looked up to see the oldest of the three Parr kids – the familiar face of Violet Parr.
"Violet!?"
"Peter!?"
"I guess they already met each other," Helen said to Aunt May, who nodded in agreement.
Moments later, Aunt May cooked dinner, and everyone gathered around the table and had a great time. "Nothing like a simple dinner to share among good neighbors, right?"
Everyone nodded and began to eat as Helen turned to Peter. "So, you and my daughter know each other?"
"Yeah, we go to the same school together," Peter replied. "Shared the same classrooms. I'm pretty much a natural."
"Peter once asked me if our school had some after-school clubs," Violet said. "I told him no."
"I'm just curious, is all," Peter told Violet.
"Well, I'm in drama class, reading lines and playing small roles," Violet replied. "What were you up to in chemistry class?"
"Just mixing chemicals here and there, playing mad scientist and stuff. After all, I am a wiz at science for a bit."
"Oh yeah? Well, you are being a strange guy," Violet said.
"And you are being a strange girl," Peter replied.
Just then, an awkward silence filled the air as the two teens looked at each other in surprise, as did their two families.
Peter calmed down. "You know, I can't blame you, Vi. We can be more social sometimes."
"Sure," Violet shrugged.
"Well, ain't this nice?" Aunt May said, trying to brighten the mood. "Not only do they share classes, but they also complement each other."
Dash began to tease. "I smell love in the air."
"Shut up!" Violet told Dash angrily.
Soon, dinner was going pretty well, and everyone was getting along great and having a good time.
After dinner, it was getting late, and the Parrs were about to head home when Aunt May went up to Helen. "Hey, Helen, what should I do about Peter? I know he's a bit younger, but sometimes he does things that are so…so…"
"Pigheaded?" Helen guesses.
"I was thinking more like unsettling."
"Well, I wouldn't mind at first. Your nephew is just doing his thing, while my son… can be a pretty competitive boy and a bit of a show-off."
While Aunt May and Helen continued talking, Peter overheard everything and went to his room.
Moments later, Peter was in bed and couldn't sleep as he stared at the ceiling. "Oh man, what am I gonna do?"
The next day after school, Peter was about to head home as he listened to some cranky news reporter commenting and ranting about his heroic actions as Spider-Man. Peter couldn't believe what he was hearing. "Ugh, the nerve of some people, especially that J.J. Jameson guy!"
But just then, something entirely unexpected happened. Peter turned and saw Violet peeking over the stairs outside the school, watching Tony Rydinger coming down. At first, Peter had no idea what Violet was doing, when suddenly…
…Violet's head disappeared, along with her hair!
A surprised Peter could only see her clothes that remained visible as he blinked twice to make sure he wasn't dreaming or hallucinating. But Peter wasn't hallucinating. Like Sue Storm of the Fantastic Four, Violet had the power of invisibility and could generate force fields.
As Tony Rydinger walked away unnoticed, Violet rematerialized herself, blushing. She then turned and saw Peter hiding and staring as he quickly turned away, pacing faster without speed.
"Violet has powers!?" Peter muttered to himself. "Okay, Parker, just relax. You just met an ordinary, shy girl from a nice, ordinary family…who just got powers." Then, he pulled himself together. "Maybe I should just call it a day and head home. Still, that doesn't mean her family has powers, right? Right…?"
Peter turned and began his journey home, unaware that Violet saw him in silence, worried that her powers were exposed to some boy she and her family had just met.
Later that evening, Peter was in his room after dinner, practicing his moves while wearing his homemade super-suit. He cleared up any stuff in the room so that he wouldn't make any noise or break something.
Closing his eyes, Peter imagined himself surrounded by armed and dangerous crooks. He was alone, nothing but his web-shooters and wits. But he knew those crooks wouldn't stand a chance.
"So, you think you got the drop on me?" Peter said to these imaginary crooks. "Well, think again!"
Peter fought the crooks with a series of punches and kicks of kung fu explosiveness, plus some web—shooting. After taking care of them, Peter felt like he'd been victorious.
"Boo-yah!" Peter exclaimed in victory. "There's nothing that Peter Parker, the one and only Spider-Man, can't handle."
Suddenly, Peter returned to reality when he thought he heard someone gasp behind him. He turned around and saw his Aunt May standing right behind him in the doorway with a shocked expression.
"Auntie!" Peter tried to explain. "Hi. Uhh, this isn't what you think it is—"
But Aunt May fainted dead away.
"Ahhh, what did I do!?" Peter sighed in dismay. He later carried the unconscious Aunt May and put her on the couch. "Okay, okay, everything is fine. You just finished dinner, practicing your fancy superhero moves. Then Aunt May appeared out of nowhere, and now she saw you in your super-suit!"
Suddenly, Peter thought he heard a radio call about a fire at Fourth and Elias. Looking back and forth at Aunt May and the radio, Peter knew he had no choice. "Sorry, Aunt May," he apologized. "But they need me. I have a responsibility."
Peter leaped out of his room window in his homemade Spider-Man super-suit and mask to protect his identity. Then, he was headed toward Fourth and Elias, unaware that someone else was already there.
Once Peter made it to the burning apartment building, he noticed something strange – a random car was parked in the alleyway. "Now, who would beat me to it this time?"
Peter swung himself inside the burning building to find survivors but to no avail, as he groaned in dismay. "Ugh, someone really beat me to it! And where are the fire extinguishers when you need them!?"
Then suddenly, something strange happened. As Peter was about to find a way out, he thought he heard familiar voices.
"Is that everybody?"
"Yeah, yeah, that's everyone."
Peter turned to see two people wearing ski masks, stacking unconscious survivors in need on their shoulders. "So, they're the ones who beat me to it." Then, he quickly recognized them. "Wait a minute… Is that…?"
Peter couldn't believe it, but the two masked people were Bob Parr and his friend, Lucius Best.
Lucius, the former Super known as Frozone, was trying to extinguish the flames with his ice powers, but it didn't work.
"Can't you put this out?" Bob asked Lucius.
"I can't lay down a layer thick enough!" Lucius replied. "It's evaporating too fast!"
"Yeah, well, what does that mean?!"
"It means it's hot! And I'm dehydrated, Bob!"
"You're out of ice?! You can't run out of ice! I thought you could use water in the air!"
"There is no water in this air! What's YOUR excuse!? Are you running out of muscle?!"
"I can't go through walls! The building's getting weaker by the second! It's gonna come down on top of us!"
"I wanted to go bowling!"
Just then, a chunk of the ceiling was about to smash the floor when giant webs appeared out of nowhere, holding everything together. Bob and Lucius turned to see who it was – Peter, in his super-suit, running up to them.
"Hey!" Peter shouted. "How about you two stop bickering and think about escaping for a minute!?"
"And who are you?" Lucius asked.
Bob barely recognized the newcomer. "Wait… You're that new Super from the news recently! Spider-kid, was it?"
"It's Spider-Man," Peter corrected. "And unless you don't wanna smash walls like the Hulk while Lucius is dehydrated, I say we hurry up and get outta here."
"He's got a good point," Lucius said.
Bob nodded. "All right! Stay right on my tail, 'cause this is gonna get hot!"
Escaping the burning building, Bob, Peter, Lucius, and all the rescued survivors smashed through a brick wall as the building behind them collapsed.
Peter groaned in dismay. "So much for using the door."
"Don't worry about it," Bob replied. "The building was coming down, anyway."
Then, looking around the area, Bob, Peter, and Lucius realized they were in a jewelry store. "Uh-oh."
"Get down, and don't move!" Peter exclaimed, warning Bob and Lucius. "You'll trigger the security alarm system."
"Another good point," Lucius said. "We look like bad guys. Incompetent bad guys!"
"Hey, I'm no bad guy!" Peter replied as he removed his mask to clear his throat and lungs.
Bob recognized him right away in surprise. "Peter?"
Lucius was surprised as well. "The Parker boy?"
"Yeah, yeah, you got me," Peter said. "Right now, I just wanna get outta here."
"He's right, Bob," Lucius agreed. "This is NOT good."
"Relax," Bob reassured the two. "We just stay calm and head home like nothing happened."
"In case you hadn't noticed, the police are looking for jewelry thieves."
"I guess there's no choice," Peter said. "Bob, do you think you can bust another wall?"
Bob smiled. "I thought you never asked."
And that's just what Bob did. The three escaped the scene and jumped back into Lucius's car.
"That was way too close," Lucius said. "We are not doing that again!"
Nearby, a mysterious woman watched them from her car.
An awkward silence filled the air as Lucius continued driving. At the same time, he, Bob, and Peter have surprised looks on their faces.
Peter finally spoke. "So…you guys are Supers? Mr. Incredible and Frozone?"
"Yep," Bob answered. "And you're the rumored new Super from the news recently?"
"Uh-huh. Still illegal?"
"Yep," Lucius answered.
"Good, good," Peter nodded, then suddenly he couldn't contain himself. "So, does your family know you have powers? Or do they have powers, too!?"
"Well, what about you?" Bob asked. "How did you step into all this without your aunt knowing?"
"I was bitten by a spider that gave me powers, that's all."
"And that gave you the name 'Spider-Man?' I heard the rumors, but I had never thought they'd be true."
"Yep, I made my own super-suit and everything," Peter replied. "I became a Super all on my own. By the way, did you know Violet has powers?"
Bob groaned. "Oh, man… What gave it away?"
"I just saw her use invisibility after school."
"Does your aunt know you're a Super?" Lucius asked.
"She did. A little bit while I was…distracted."
"Well, we all make mistakes. It happens to most of us former Supers."
"Thanks. I needed that."
Moments later, Peter was dropped off at his home as he went inside through his room window. Peter went downstairs to check on his Aunt May, only to find the couch empty. Suddenly, Peter's spider-sense tingled as he turned around to see someone grab him and flip him onto his back with a crash.
Peter blinked in surprise to see who made that move. "Aunt May!? How did you-!?"
Aunt May chuckled. "I guess we Parkers have a little fighting spirit." Then, she pulled her nephew up and hugged him tightly. "So, you mind telling me what's going on? That you're a Super?"
A short time later, Peter told Aunt May how he had gotten his powers, became Spider-Man long ago, and stumbled across Bob and Lucius at the fire.
The explanation blew Aunt May away as she was trying to understand the bigger picture. She loved her nephew with all her heart and had always tried to be a good aunt to him. Sometimes, she had wondered why Peter was so late.
Peter had finally told her why - he had superpowers and was a Super.
"So, you're a Super now?" Aunt May asked.
"Yep," Peter nodded.
"And you made your own super-suit and go out fighting crime? Like real, actual crime?"
"Yep."
Aunt May slowly nodded in confirmation. "Okay, then."
"So, how did you figure it out?"
"From the beginning? Or when you were in your super-suit after dinner? Maybe a bit of both. Or maybe…I guess you can say that I knew it all along."
"Wait, what!? What do you mean you knew?"
"Come on, I know you're Spider-Man, Peter. I don't need a big reveal right away."
Peter was surprised as Aunt May continued. "I mean, a new Super that made a big-time appearance months after all the former Supers like the Avengers, Mr. Incredible, and Frozone went underground? It wasn't hard to figure out that someone was going out illegally. Since my nephew is the most innovative and strategic boy there is, it didn't took longer to assemble the pieces together. Plus, if you had tidied up your room, I wouldn't have found your uncle's photo and the red notebook, so it wasn't the first time. And do you think your super-suit just defunct itself?"
Peter sniffed the super-suit. "I thought it smelled so lemony fresh! But if you knew all that, why didn't you say anything?"
"Because it didn't seem like a big or a small subject," Aunt May replied. "Plus, it wasn't just some effortless secret for you to keep from me. Besides, what did you think you were doing all this time? You could've been killed out there. So, I thought maybe if I waited long enough, you'd be ready to tell me someday."
"I wasn't trying to keep it from you," Peter said. "I was just afraid to tell you."
"Well, you shouldn't be. It doesn't change anything, but you know Supers are still illegal even after your recent crime-stopping escapades. I lost your uncle. I don't wanna lose you, too."
"I know," Peter sighed.
"If something happened to you, I don't know what to do. And who knows? One day, I won't be around forever, and I just want to make sure you're taken care of."
"I can take care of myself," Peter said.
"That, too. But still, I'm your aunt, and you are my nephew. So, just promise me you know what you're doing and be careful. That aside, I'm proud of the young man Ben raised you to be."
Peter sighed. "All right, I promise."
"By the way, you need a better, new super-suit."
"That, too."
Meanwhile, at the Parr Family Residence, a very different exchange took place between Bob and Helen. But this time, Bob was not getting the same kind of happy support when Helen waited for him, sitting in a living room chair in her bathrobe. She then stretched her arm and hand to Bob's shoulder, pulling off a concrete rubble on his coat.
Helen knew what her husband was doing. "You know how I feel about that, Bob! Darn you, we can't blow cover again!"
Bob tried to explain. "The building was coming down anyway."
"What!? You knocked down a building!?"
"It was on fire. Structurally unsound. It was coming down anyway."
"Please tell me you haven't been listening to the police scanner again..."
"Look, I performed a public service. You act like that's a bad thing!"
"It is a bad thing, Bob!" Helen argued. "You can't keep uprooting our family again so you can relive the glory days. It's a terrible thing!"
"Reliving the glory days is better than acting like they didn't happen!" Bob argued back.
"Yes! They happened! But this, our family, is what's happening now, Bob. And you are missing this! This is not about you, Bob! This is about our family… You, me, Vi, Dash, and Jack-Jack!"
The couple continued to argue until a sudden breeze came through the room. Now Bob and Helen knew that the kids were listening.
Bob sighed. "Alright, Dash. I know you're listening. Come on out."
"Vi, you too, young lady," Helen agreed.
Bob gently reassured them as Violet and Dash emerged from their hiding places. "It's okay, kids. We're just having a discussion."
"A pretty loud discussion," Violet said.
"But that's okay. Because what's important is that your mother and I are always a team. We're always united against the, uh...the forces of, uh..."
"Pigheadedness?" Helen guessed, looking at Bob.
"I was gonna say evil or something," Bob said, hesitating.
Helen turned to the kids. "We're sorry we woke you. Everything's okay. Go back to bed. It's late." She then turned to Bob. "In fact, we should all be in bed."
As everyone in the Parr family was headed for bed, Helen sighed and turned off the lamp. She quickly told Bob that Violet had a close call with Peter, seeing her powers, and reassured him that their daughter would talk to Peter about it.
The next day, Peter was getting his stuff from his locker after school. He was about to close his locker and head home when Violet appeared before him.
"Oh, uh, hey, Violet," Peter greeted her, startled by how she sneaked up on him.
"Hey, Peter," Violet greeted back. "How are you holding up?"
"Pretty well, pretty well."
Violet then started to become serious. "Listen, about what happened…"
"What? That I saw your head disappear like magic?"
"I'm serious, Peter! You can't tell anyone about what you saw yesterday. If people find out—"
"Violet, it's okay," Peter interrupted. "I won't tell a soul."
Violet blinked in surprise. "Wait, what!? Really? That was fast."
"It's okay. You're not the only one with powers. I had them when I was bitten by a spider way back."
"Really?" Violet asked once more in surprise.
"Remember when you asked what I was up to in chemistry class? Well, the thing is… I was trying to make advanced web-fluid substances for my web-shooters."
"That explains it," Violet nodded.
"So, consider your secret kept," Peter replied. "And if you could refrain from mentioning that I'm…you-know-who."
"So, that was you as this new, rumored Super on the news? This 'Spider-Man'?"
"Yep," Peter answered. "And I was also curious about your family. Are they Supers, too? It's pretty cool."
"Yeah, cool would be a strong word," Violet said, frowning. "All we get is the 'Relocation' part over and over again, and I'm sick of it. It's uncool."
Peter knew immediately what Violet was talking about. "Oh, you mean that 'Super Relocation Program,' right?"
"Anyway, it's best that we forget about it. Just promise you won't say anything."
"Okay, I won't tell," Peter nodded. "As unbelievable as I'm sure that was, I would trade places with you in a heartbeat. Like I said, consider your secret kept."
"Thanks," Violet said, feeling a bit blushing red.
Just then, one student tapped Peter's shoulder. "Excuse me, Peter, but someone wants to see you in the principal's office."
"Now?" Peter asked.
"Now."
Peter looked at Violet and shrugged. Then, he walked from her and the school's exit to the principal's office.
Once Peter entered the principal's office, the principal wasn't there, but someone else. "Peter Parker. You think you're the only Super left standing? You've just become part of a bigger universe, a nd you just don't know it yet."
"Who's there? Who are you?" Peter asked. "I don't know if you're real or if I'm having a fever dream."
"Daisy Johnson, agent of SHIELD," the figure introduced herself, revealing herself as a young woman. "And I remember you doing things all by yourself. How is it going for you?"
"Pretty good," Peter answered. "I mean, I dealt with worse."
"Let me get right to the point," Daisy continued. "We were tasked to you by Nick Fury, director of SHIELD, and word on the street is you've been very busy making a name for yourself. If I didn't know better, I would say you were doing it again."
"Doing what?" Peter asked.
"Doing hero work," Daisy said.
"Well, I-I was only dealing with those crooks to remind them that the other heroes are on a permanent break. And that they should do the same. Plus, I was only stopping some innocent people from saving them from getting into trouble."
As Peter rattled on, Daisy's eyes were unconvinced. "Well, contrary to your popular belief, you're not the center of the universe. We had other more significant problems than you playing Super."
"Other problems?" Peter asked in confusion. "Like what?"
"I was with the Analysis Division, tracking a spike in the incidents of missing Supers, but that's not the whole story. Over fifteen years from now, former Supers have been disappearing, and they never came back. Whatever lured them away, we think they met with the same fate."
"So, how are you gonna deal with it?" Peter asked. "I can whip up something to help you in that situation."
"Or you could just go home," Daisy waved to dismiss Peter with a smile. "And let the professionals handle it. We just came here to warn you, so…stop trying to relive the glory days."
A stunned Peter tried to protest. "You can't ditch me out! I handled a lot more stuff while you went underground. Do you even have powers!?"
Not answering Peter's question, the SHIELD agents dropped Peter off at his home a moment later.
"I guess not, then," Peter sighed in dismay as he went inside his home, only to be greeted by Aunt May.
"Well, I see you came home late," Aunt May said jokingly.
"Hey, they had a bus or a hovercraft," Peter replied, trying to joke around as well. "All that running and walking home alone isn't as easy as I thought."
"Very funny," Aunt May laughed, then handed her nephew a large manila envelope. "By the way, this came in the mail for you."
Peter was puzzled by this odd package. "What…?"
Minutes later, Peter was in his room after dinner, studying as usual as the sun nearly set. Then, he couldn't help but look at the envelope and decided to open it. Inside the envelope was a small computer-like tablet with a small circle beeping in the screen's center. That means something is activated on it.
Peter squinted, trying to read out the words on the screen. "'Hold still'?"
Suddenly, the tablet had a blue laser grid. A facial recognition scan was performed all over Peter's face, and a robotic voice appeared. "Match: Spider-Man."
Shocked and surprised by how this odd tablet knew Peter's superhero identity, he dropped it on the floor. The tablet then used a small rod to scan Peter's room for a few seconds to see if anyone was with him. "Room is secure. Commence message."
"Message?" Peter repeated, realizing that the small tablet was a message communicator.
The tablet's screen showed the video message, and on it was a mysterious and beautiful woman who seemed calm yet oddly attractive.
"Hello, Peter Parker, or should we call you Spider-Man?" said the woman on screen. "And yes, we know who you are. Rest assured, your secret is safe with us. My name is Mirage. We heard about you, calling yourself the newest Super on the block despite being the only one."
The woman, whose name was Mirage, explained that she represented a top-secret government division that needed Peter's unique abilities as Spider-Man to help stop an out-of-control robot. If Peter accepts the mission, he can get paid.
"The Supers aren't gone, Spider-Man. You're still here," Mirage continued. "You can still do great things. Or…you can keep on the ground level and play vigilante. Your choice. You have 24 hours to respond. Think about it."
As the tablet went off, Peter became suspicious at first. Still, looking at the old photo of his Uncle Ben and Mr. Incredible, he thought about the times he'd been Spider-Man and was intrigued. Peter could use this odd job to experience being a Super outside the mainland for a bit, and he can get paid well. (Plus, Aunt May could use some extra money, too.)
A business card appeared out of the tablet's screen, printing. Peter picked it up as it read, 'MIRAGE. (866) 787-7476.' Just then, the tablet's voice appeared again, beeping. "This message will self-destruct."
"Uh-oh," Peter mumbled as he quickly slammed the trash can on the tablet before it exploded underneath in a small boom. He sighed in relief. "That was…close."
Minutes later, Peter called the number on the card, and Mirage's voice answered. "Hello?"
"This is Spider-Man," Peter said, looking at his homemade super-suit. "I'm in…for now."
The following day, Peter told Aunt May he was going out to help someone. Then, he secretly donned his homemade Spider-Man super-suit and boarded an ultra-sleek jet heading to a remote secret location – the volcanic island of Nomanisan.
Peter sat back as he faced Mirage, who began briefing him on the mission. "The Omnidroid 9000 is a top-secret prototype battle robot. Its artificial intelligence enables it to solve any problem it's confronted with. And, unfortunately..."
"Oh, I know," Peter tried to guess. "It got crazy to think why it needs to take orders from its makers?"
"We lost control," Mirage said. "And now it's loose in the jungle, threatening our facility. We've had to evacuate all personnel from the island for their own safety."
"And just how am I going in?" Peter asked.
"The Omnidroid's defenses necessitate an airdrop from 5000 feet, so its cloaking devices make it difficult to track. Although we're pretty sure it's on the island's southern half. And one more thing, it obviously represents a significant investment."
"So…you want me, a new Super on the block, to shut down an expensive, learning robot made by the government on an uninhabited island?" Peter understood. "Sounds oddly familiar."
"You are the Spider-Man. And by the way, you won't go there alone."
Mirage had arranged another Super to help out on the mission – Bob Parr, dressed in his old blue and black Mr. Incredible super-suit (which was too tight).
"Bob!?" Peter cried in surprise.
"Peter!?" Bob was surprised as well.
"It seems you two already know each other," Mirage said.
Moments later, Mirage escorted the two to the shuttle bay of the jet, where they boarded a drop-pod.
"I got to warn you," Mirage said. "It's a learning robot. Every moment you spend fighting, it only increases its knowledge of how to beat you."
"We know the drill," Peter replied, nodding.
"Shut it down. Do it quickly. Don't destroy it," Bob summed up the mission.
"And don't die," Mirage added.
In an instant, the pod blasted from the jet and into the clouds above Nomanisan as Bob and Peter hurtled toward the island, where they were about to enter insane danger. Once the pod landed in the thick jungle, Peter crawled out first while Bob…tried to get out, but his belly wouldn't let him. So, he tore the pod apart to get out.
"They don't make pods like they used to, huh?" Bob said.
"Oh, the pods are fine for my size," Peter replied. "It's you who's out of shape."
"Right. So, why didn't you tell me you were going on a mission?"
"I was gonna ask you the same thing. I didn't know some secret government group would bring you in, too. Plus, I kinda, sorta don't wanna split the money."
"Don't worry, Peter, it'll just be a breeze," Bob reassured. "We'll be back home in no time. Oh, and I'm pretty sure they budgeted for the both of us."
"If you say so," Peter nodded.
"Showtime," Bob said as the two headed into the jungle.
Okay, so think about this situation. We have two surprising Supers who have never been outside Municiberg, wandering through a wild jungle to find an expensive prototype battle robot. Not to mention that they were on their two legs and feet, breathing heavily.
"I know Mirage is trying to be all mysterious and top-secret," Peter said, catching his breath. "But she did say the robot's cloaking is so difficult for us to find it."
"You're telling me," Bob replied, then he noticed giant claw marks on the tree and an x-shaped footprint on the ground.
Peter noticed something else – another set of claw markings on the tree. But it didn't belong to the Omnidroid, but something else. "Those claw marks… This may sound funny, but they looked like Wolverine was here."
"Wolverine!? But I haven't seen him or Gazerbeam from the glory days. In the papers, he was currently missing."
"You don't think…we weren't the first Supers being sent out here?"
"Can't say for sure, but Gazerbeam and Wolverine might've been here after all."
Peter's spider-sense suddenly kicked in as he and Bob heard a metallic sound.
"It's here!" Peter exclaimed as the Omnidroid, a giant hunk of steel with robotic spider legs, found him and Bob from behind. "I guess we found what we've been looking for?"
The mission was more difficult as Mr. Incredible fought the Omnidroid while Spider-Man looked on, trying to coach. "That's it, dance around it! Watch the claws! Keep it moving, keep it moving!"
Mr. Incredible leaped over and punched the Omnidroid as it flew straight into a tree and collapsed.
"All right, all right!" Spider-Man shouted enthusiastically as he ran to Mr. Incredible and shot webs at the Omnidroid. "You bad! Oh, yeah!"
"See, Peter," Mr. Incredible said. "That wasn't so tough."
But suddenly, the Omnidroid got back up without any damage, and Spider-Man muttered, "That doesn't sound good."
The Omnidroid charged at the two Supers as Mr. Incredible leaped over it again. Still, since it was a learning robot, the Omnidroid calculated that move and swatted Mr. Incredible mid-air, slamming him into another tree.
"Definitely not good," Spider-Man shouted as the Omnidroid curled into a rolling ball to crush Mr. Incredible, who quickly dodged the robot's attack. "Run!"
And so, Mr. Incredible and Spider-Man began running through the jungle with the rolling Omnidroid in hot pursuit. On the other hand, it wasn't as bad as when Mr. Incredible and Spider-Man leaped out and landed in the lava fields, where the Omnidroid was about to push Mr. Incredible into the lava.
"Bob!" Spider-Man exclaimed as he watched Mr. Incredible's situation - Omnidroid on one side, giant pools of hot, boiling lava on the other side, which was not good.
Now this is where Spider-Man realizes how very powerful Mr. Incredible was, for suddenly, he uses his tremendous strength to jerk-pull the Omnidroid into the boiling lava.
At first, Spider-Man cheered, and Mr. Incredible laughed in victory as he hurt his spine trying to spin. "Ow, ow, ow… Oh, my back!"
"Are you okay?" Spider-Man asked.
"I'm fine, Peter," Mr. Incredible answered, nodding. "I just hurt my back a little."
"More like a lot."
Suddenly, the Omnidroid emerged from the lava through the stone platform.
"Ohhh! Give us a big, fat break!" Spider-Man yelled as he kept web-shooting the Omnidroid and its sensor. "It's like we're not making a dent!"
Just then, Spidey suddenly had an idea. "Or maybe...we were never meant to make a dent. We were here to destroy its programming." He then turned to Mr. Incredible. "Bob, we have to destroy its CPU!"
"How!?"
"By making it hit itself!"
And that's precisely what they did.
When the Omnidroid grabbed Mr. Incredible with its two claws to rip him apart, it fixed his back as Mr. Incredible jack-knifed the robot's claw off its arm. Following Spider-Man's strategy, Mr. Incredible climbed inside the Omnidroid as the robot punched holes, unintentionally hitting itself.
Finally, it collapsed as Mr. Incredible jumped out, casually walking away and right up to Spider-Man. "I may be out of shape, but I still got it!"
"We did it, Bob!" Spider-Man cheered. "We did it! We won by a landslide!"
"Or by the seat of our pants."
At that moment, the two Supers felt that there wasn't anyone else to interrupt their success. Little did they know that while Mr. Incredible and Spider-Man were leaving the lava fields, a mechanical macaw watched the whole thing, zooming in on the screen like a camera.
Mirage and the mysterious employer watched Mr. Incredible and Spider-Man on a computer screen displaying the battle.
"Surprising," The mystery man said to Mirage. "Impressive yet surprising. We'll have to bring him back."
Later that evening, Peter went to the beach and splashed water on his face. Then, he collapsed on the sand and gazed up at the stars. "Oh man, that was intense. I don't know what I'm doing here."
Just then, Bob appeared. "Uh, hey. You okay?"
Peter looked up to see Bob. "Oh, yeah. I'm fine. That was some mission, right?"
"Yeah," Bob said, nodding. "I mean, also quite a workout."
"Still out of shape?"
"Yep."
Peter and Bob stared at the ocean until Peter struggled to say something. "Aaah, who am I kidding!? That mission was crazy, and you nearly got yourself killed!"
Bob looked at Peter in surprise. "Crazy? Kid, you helped out, too. You did great."
"I know that, but I'm not like you guys. This is all new to me, and I don't know what I'm doing! Okay? Congratulations, you revealed me."
"But you still made it out alive," Bob reassured Peter.
Peter sighed in dismay. "Forget it, Bob! I feel like I've been dragging you down long enough. I'm going home, and I suggest you do the same."
Bob stared at Peter. Was he serious? "Peter, look, I would if I could, but I can't."
"Oh, sure you can, Bob. I won't stop you," Peter replied.
"No, I mean... I can't go home because I might tell my family that...I was fired."
"Fired?" Peter repeated in surprise. "What happened?"
"Let's just say I didn't leave them on the best terms."
Bob quickly explained that his undercover job was at Insuricare, an insurance company, which was boring. But at least he made a difference without his powers, like helping people get the money Insuricare owed them from their insurance claims.
But one day, when he was called in to see his boss, Bob saw someone getting mugged outside the office window. He was desperate to help, but his boss wouldn't let him because he didn't care about other people like he did.
A frustrated Bob quickly lost it and threw his boss flying through the office walls. That's how he lost his job at Insuricare.
"So that's what did you in," Peter said. "If you ask me, he's just like everyone else."
Bob nodded. "Yeah, now that you think about it. We were supposed to help people. Someone outside was in trouble, and I had to do something." Then, he looked down sadly. "But I knew we would have to pack up and relocate again, so I couldn't tell my family that I was fired on the spot. I just didn't want Helen to worry. I mean, everyone just got settled."
"Okay…"
"It's complicated! You wouldn't understand because life must've been so easy for you, being the one and only Spider-Man."
"Sorry you felt that way," Peter said. "I mean, I probably dealt with a lot more stuff today than you all did in the history of the world, in the history of Supers, and the history of kicking butt. And that Omnidroid… I know Mirage said it represented some investment, but it tried to kill us. I guess she didn't mention it provided some chiropractic services."
"True," Bob nodded, then giggled at that last part.
Peter sighed. "Listen, I get where you're coming from, but… I can't lose someone close to my uncle, including you. Plus, you have way better options than this, and what would our families think if they learn we died here on this island?"
"I didn't think of that," Bob said sadly.
"I can't die out here on this island. I have a dream, a mission, and a reason or two to live! I've wanted to become a genuine Super forever! Because of you!"
Bob watched Peter in surprise as he looked at the starry night sky over the ocean blue. "I used to listen to my uncle's stories about you and the glory days… How you guys were so fearless."
Bob sadly looked down, staying quiet. He remembered the glory days, too.
"'Just be careful who you'll turn into, Peter.' That's what my uncle used to say," Peter continued. "'You'll feel this power of being a man. And with this great power comes great responsibility.' I know my uncle was trying to protect me…but I felt like that I was the most unique and spectacular kid in town, and I was gonna show my uncle these powers."
"Then what happened?" Bob asked.
"I couldn't save my uncle," Peter answered. "When I went out looking for my uncle, I saw him lying on the streets, badly wounded. I tried to get help, but he told me to move on without him and never give up hope. I know my uncle would never want revenge. He still believed in Supers like you and that you would someday return to the light. And who knows? Maybe if you hadn't saved that Sansweet guy and caused the El Train accident, you guys would still do hero work again and do things you haven't even thought of doing."
Bob chuckled. "Right."
"That's why I can't do what you did. I got to do it like me. So, in the end, it's all there is to it."
Then, Peter gets up from the ground. "Yeah, so, uh…I think I should stay home on the mainland. I don't want to do any more missions that'll land me in the morgue. Good luck, Mr. Incredible."
Peter turned to leave, got a white envelope full of money, and shouted, "YES! That was emotional!"
