Bonus: Chapter One

"Thanks again for letting me use your training room, Mr. Valdez," Sam said as she was prepping up with training gear and her spear.

"Ah, it's all good. And you don't have to be formal, Sam. We're family now, so just be yourself with us, okay?" Leo replied as he ruffled Sam's hair.

Sam was really happy; after everything that happened, she was able to stay in New York and go to school along with Estelle. Plus, even though her dad is gone, she still has a place to call home. She has been to the Valdez's shop many times so fitting in with them went off smoothly. After she was all healed and ready to go back to Camp, she asked Leo to let her try the training room. Leo was confused but saw the determination in her eyes and couldn't say no to her, despite Calypso's concern.

"Still, I don't understand. Why do you want to go through the same training as Estelle?" Leo asked as he made some modifications on the training program through a monitor on the side of the door.

Sam replied, "After everything that happened, Stella saved my life and went through so much more. I realized that I can't let her do all the work. So I want to get stronger…"

Sam looks at her weapon. Thanks to Leo, the broken Spear has finally been fixed, and even gotten a little improvement. It's still shortened but there's a button on the hilt where if you press it, it extends it to a proper polearm. For some reason though, she detected a small amount of magic in it. Sam believes that when she grabbed it, it awakened its power. Why it reacted to her though is a mystery. And it's a mystery she is going to find out.

"...I want to be strong enough to fight by her side," Sam finished. "Can't have her do all the heavy-lifting."

Leo chuckled, "Alright, but I'm warning you. The simulation is one of the most difficult trials I have. It took Annabeth a couple of days and she's the smartest and wisest demigod I know."

Sam chuckled as Leo started up the simulation. She pressed the button on her spear and it extended into a proper spear. She gets in formation and prepares herself for training.

"Leo, I'm a hard-core gamer. I crave challenges."

The simulation started summoning clones of the seven demigods.

"I'm going to beat this trial in less than a week. Or my name isn't Samantha G. Stacy."

"Wait, you have a middle name?" Leo asked.

Sam nodded.

"Yeah… My dad was a huge fan of the Spider-Man comics and because of our last name… I was named after a certain character in the series."

Leo pondered at which character until it hit him. His eyes widened at the sudden realization.

"Wait… you mean…?"

"Yep… My full name is Samantha Gwendolyne Stacy."
