This was inspired by several Naruto/GX stories in particular Shinobi of Duel Academy by windstorm16.

AN1: I know Super overused category buts it all in good fun!
I am going to use the English names but sometimes use honorifcs. I know weird combination especially since the Yugioh series is famous for changing the names and even dialogue/themes when they get translated into English dub (unlike modern animes like Naruto and Bleach which are essentially direct translations)
Review or send PMs! I love to chat about anything. I am still working on other stories by the way but it is hard to get a full chapter out when you are not motivated!
This is basically a prologue and I think (when/if) continue this I will do the actual duel exams next chapter. It might end up being shorter than this one, word count wise but I gotta rewatch the episodes and even look up the deck of Crowler and other people Naruto will fight. Will make it more difficult then normal stories. By the way I do pretty basic decks in the Video Games so don't expect a lot of 'out there' decks. Plus, in GX no extra deck monsters exist Fusion monsters at this point.
It is simply Normal, Effect, Ritual and Fusion monsters at this point. (but it might change but probably on Synchro Monsters at latest)
Oh yeah cards like Pot of Greed, Monster Reborn, Graceful Charity are not banned.
Chapter 1 Arriving at Duel Academy
"I can't believe its already time for our little genius to go to Duel Academy!" a tall blonde man with a huge grin shouted happily as a very attractive and busty blonde-haired woman next to him rolled her eyes.
"Geez Joey you would think you were the one going to Duel Academy not Naruto-kun." The blonde-haired woman remarked putting her hands on her hips and smirking at Joey.
"Geez no need to be so mean Mai! My nephew is finally going to show the world what the second coming of the King of Games means!" Joey explained excitedly raising his hands in triumph. AN2:
A man with distinctive tri coloured hair consisting of black, red and yellow chuckled nervously as a beautiful brown-haired woman glared at her friend.
"Joey! Do not put pressure on my son!" Tea snapped at Joey who whimpered and stepped back in fear.
"Who me? I would never presume to tell what Naruto should do!" Joey claimed trying to pacify his old friend.
'Being a protective mama bear as usual…. I can't believe Yuge actually puts up with this all the time…' Joey thought as he looked away from his smirking wife Mai Valentine.
"Naruto. Are you sure you are all ready? Maybe we should wait a year." Tea asked sweetly her demeanour and tone having changed instantly when she shifted to her beloved boy.
A tall blonde-haired boy smirked at his mother as he yawned and opened his eyes revealing distinctive blue eyes. He did not inherit his father distinctive trio hair but he did receive the yellow which he called blonde and his mother's blue eyes.
"I wait another year and you will even be less eager to let me go to the island mom." Naruto pointed eyes but his eyes were soft as he gazed up at his mother's loving stare.
"But." Tea was about to start before her husband put a hand on her shoulder.
"Tea. He's right. We could wait another 40 years and you still would not be happy to let him go. It is his time to go his own path." Yugi said gently as Tea reluctantly nodded her head.
"Be careful okay and call us every day." Tea told her son who nodded with a grin.
"I promise I will call whenever I can." Naruto promised before he wrapped his arms around both parents who hugged him back.
"I love you." Naruto said simply and sincerely as Yugi placed his hand on his shoulder proudly.
"Choose what you feel is right Naruto and know we will always support you." Yugi said as a smile appeared on his face.
"I will make you proud." Naruto promised as they continued the hug for another minute before letting go.'
He then high fived Joey who grinned at him before ruffling his hair.
Naruto frowned as his eye twitched at being treated like a kid.
"Take care of yourself and try to get a girlfriend before the end of the year." Joey told him as Mai slapped him upside the head as Naruto sweatdropped.
"Whatever you said Joey-Oji-san." Naruto said with a weak smile.
Joey was quickly pulled aside by an irritated Tea who decided to give her old friend her feelings right there and then.
Naruto laughed before getting enveloped by a very warm embrace by the beautiful Mai Valentine who wrapped her arms around Naruto bringing him into her ample chest.
"Despite what my silly husband says." Mai begins as Naruto saw Tea pulling Joey by the ear. "We want you to enjoy life at the Academy and make friends. Do not feel pressured to have a girlfriend just because that is what you are told okay?" Mai told him sweetly smiling when she saw Naruto face turned red when she squeezed him tighter.
'Teehee still got it😉' Mai thought happily. She truly loved her husband and was loyal but she thought Naruto was very cute so she could not help teasing him whenever she could. She thought he had such expressions and was looking forward to seeing what kind of girlfriend he would eventually bring home.
"Hehe… Sure whatever you say Mai Nee-chan." Naruto said awkwardly rubbing her back as she gradually let go. Mai was old enough to be his aunty but he remembered when he called her that when he was a teen. He swore only Tea's own rage kept the sweet if not flirty Blonde woman from skiing him alive.
'I guess she really doesn't look like an aunty or mom doesn't look old enough to be a mom.' Naruto mused as his mother and his honorary aunty still looked youthful and beautiful and still attracted many fans of both genders.
After Naruto was released from Mai's tight grip Yugi coughed getting everyone to look at him.
"Okay now Kaiba has sent a private jet for us to Duel Academy so we can be there for Naruto's iniation so we best be off." Yugi explained as everyone nodded.
They walked outside only to brace themselves as a fancy expensive private jet was running on the launchpad with 2 men outside standing guard.
One man nodded to his partner and waved the gang over.
"Yugi-san! Naruto-san! And fellow guests! Please come into the jet! Mr. Kaiba has been waiting!" The man yelled. AN3:
The gang happily went into the jet and strapped themselves in while Joey was mumbling to himself.
"Sure when I ask Kaiba for some front row seats to a base ball game which I knows he could EASILY afford he pretends he doesn't know me. But when Naruto needs a ride to Duel Academy it is all hands-on deck to get him a jet…" Joey mumbled angrily. AN4:
Yugi and Naruto rubbed their heads nervously. Joey and Kaiba despite no longer being enemies were far from friends especially as Kaiba refused to fund any of Joey's requests no matter how small it was.
"Well Wheeler I don't remind inviting you on this jet so feel free to leave and get on a boat." A voice said snidely as the screen blinked before revealing Seto Kaiba's smug face on screen in a suit.
"What did you say Rich boy?! Come here and say that to my face!" Joey shouted outraged as Mai held him in his seat.
"Sorry does the monkey have hearing problems now?" Kaiba asked as Joey got even angrier.
"Kaiba. Please if you continue to banter with Joey Naruto will miss his initiation." Yugi asked politely as Joey pouted. Kaiba frowned before sighing.
"I suppose it would take too much time to get Wheeler out of the jet so just start flying pilot!" Kaiba ordered as the jet started to take off.
While Mai was calming Joey down and Tea was chatting with Yugi Naruto looked up at Kaiba with cool headed look.
"Godfather." Naruto said respectfully as Kaiba was still one of the richest men in the world.
"Naruto. I placed a lot of faith in Yugi's son so you better not let me down." Kaiba said bluntly although he turned around so Naruto could not see his small smile on his face.
Another thing Joey resented about Kaiba was his best buddy Yugi chose Kaiba to be the godfather of the his only child. Yugi explained it patiently that it was more for practical reasons having Kaiba be there for his son made sense but Joey still felt rather snubbed by the fact.
What was more shocking was that Kaiba actually accepted although he claimed it was 'to rub it in that loser's face.' (much to Joey's ire) Yugi could tell the respect he gained for beating Atem was still there even if Kaiba refused to admit it.
"Of course not godfather. I plan to be the very best and not just because of my last name or who I know." Naruto assured him as Kaiba gave him a nod of approval before ringing could be heard in the background.
"Sorry it looks like I will have to cut our chat short. I will be watching live your entrance exam duel so please make a show for me." Kaiba requested as Naruto nodded his head.
A few hours later the jet arrived on a special landing pad on the Duel Academy island where Naruto got off first.
His parents and their friends promised to join him after his written exam which Naruto waved off but smiled when he got there.
"Name please." One of the men standing outside the building asked.
"Naruto Muto." Naruto said simply as the man eyes widened before he looked up.
"THE Naruto Muto? Son of Yugi Muto the King of Games?" The man stuttered as Naruto sighed.
"Here is some ID." Naruto said as he pulled out some personal ID as the man looked it over and shakily pointed at one of the doors.
"Right through there Mr. Muto." The man said politely with a bow as Naruto shuttered.
'Geez Mr. Muto makes me seem so old…' Naruto thought with a sweatdrop as he entered the classroom.
To his great relief it appeared that the potential students were too busy focusing on their own papers to notice him enter.
He sat down to see a written exam in front of him so he quickly skimmed it over going over the pages.
'Hmm looks like multiple choice, and fill in the blanks mostly. I suppose ti makes sense as the practical exam will make us use on the field experience while this test general knowledge.' Naruto thought as he looked over question one.
"1. Vorse Raider is a _ monster?" read the first question.
'Okay I guess they start off easy. Normal' Naruto thought as he wrote in 'normal' in the blank spot.
He finished the rest of the questions with relative ease as it was basic knowledge and problem solving for him.
'Okay second last question. It looks like a multiple choice with more then 4 options.
"You have 100 life points left. Your opponents has 2500 life point left. They have Summoned Skull in attack mode (2500/1200) AN5: and Mirror Force face down. They have no cards in their hands.
You have Cyber Dragon (2100/1600) in defense mode, Ring of Defense (spell card), Ring of destruction (trap card) on the field. You have Cyber Dragon, Cyber Dragon, Power Bond (spell card) and Emergency Provisions (spell card) in your hands.
What do you do?
Play Power Bond facedown and activate Emergency Provisions on all your cards to recover life points and bide time.
Use Power Bond on your 3 Cyber Dragons to fusion summon Cyber End Dragon (4000/2800) with double attack points and attack.
Pass turn.
Switch Cyber Dragon to Attack mode and bluff opponents to not attacking.
Sacrifice one Cyber Dragon to summon a new one from your hand in attack mode.
Use Ring of Destruction on Cyber Dragon.
Use Ring of Destruction on Summoned Skull.
Use Ring of Destruction on Cyber Dragon and chain Ring of Defense.
Use Ring of Destruction on Summoned Skull and chain Ring of Defense.
Surrender duel and be honourable.
Naruto instantly sweatdropped when he saw some of the choices.
'Pass turn? Surrender Duel? What kind of answers are those?! The only way you pass a turn is if you cannot do anything! No one who surrenders a duel is not a coward!' Naruto thought furiously.
Naruto hummed as he to admit whoever created these questions may have actually thought out the possibilities besides the very obvious dumb answers.
'They real test you if you know some of these card effects. For somebody who has never heard of Mirror Force option B would actually sound good since the double attack point would give them enough attack points to defeat Summoned Skill and win in one attack.' Naruto mused as some people did not even use traps in their decks deeming them to slow to be effective.
'The right answer is I because Summoned Skull has the attack points to knock your opponent and you out. But by chaining Ring of Defense will prevent the damage you take while still doing the damage to the opponents so you can win the duel.' Naruto thought as he used the pen to circle the 'I' option. AN6:
'Last Question. Huh finally one about the Gods the Dorm rooms would be modelled after.' Naruto thought with a grin. It took much prodding from Naruto but Seto finally decided to explain the basics of the 3 dorms of Duel Academy and to say Naruto was not pleased was an understatement.
'When I show him pictures of what Slifer Red looks like I am sure he will change his tone.' Naruto thought as despite it being a test he could still hear potential students moaning about being placed at Slifer Red and the terrors of the Dorm Room.
"What is one effect not shared by all three of the 'Egyptian God Cards?'
This card cannot be targeted or destroyed or removed from play by Monster, Spell or Trap effects except by 'Divine' Type monsters.
This card requires 3 monsters to tribute/sacrifice for a normal summon. This summoning cannot be negated.
By offering 2 monsters to tribute increase this monster attack points to 'infinite' for one turn and destroy all monsters your opponent control dealing 4000 points of damage.
If Special Summoned from the graveyard this card is sent to the graveyard at the End Phase of the turn it was summoned.
Naruto looked it over and smirked. If there was one type of monsters his father and godfather were proud of it was the Egyptian God monsters.
Naruto knew the conditions and rankings of the Dorms were based on his Godfather Kaiba's preference of the cards. Obelisk Blue dorm was based on the one God card Seto owned during Battle city and was given over the top special treatment. Ya Yellow had still high-class lodgings due to Seto's obsession of having the strongest God card despite not having it. Slifer Red was based on Seto's dislike of losing out to Yugi during Battle City when their God cards were on the line and hence why the least amount of funding was used on it.
When Naruto called his Godfather out on this, he remembered the response very clearly.
"Naruto. You are too young to understand this but managing a private island for duelists is very expensive and the budgets needs to go where I find it most appropriate.' Seto claimed.
This was undermined with Seto closing his eyes and having a self-satisfied smirk making Naruto sweatdrop at his Godfather.
'It is C as that effect is specific to Obelisk while the other effects are the same for all 3 God cards.' Naruto circling the answer to the question in his pen. AN7:
Naruto looked over the test several times before put the test carefully in front of his desk. He peeked around and saw the rest of the potential students still scribbling on their pager and unlike him they looked stressed.
A proctor near him saw he had his papers finished and walked next to him leaning in.
"Are you finished?" The man asked quietly while Naruto nodded.
"Are you sure? The test is for a full hour and it has only been 10 minutes sir." The man asked with some concern as the kid in front of him did nto look like a cocky brat who thought he owned the world for finishing the test quickly.
Again, Naruto nodded with his hand that 'happened' to cover his name.
"May I please be excused as long as I return for the practical exams?" Naruto asked politely not wanting to wait 45 minutes here while he could be walking.
The man though for a moment before nodding.
"Pease be quiet and mindful of your time." The proctor reminded Naruto who gave him a grateful smile.
Naruto grabbed his bag and snuck out as the proctor gave him an amused smile.
The proctor took Naruto's paper before his eyes widened when he saw the name written on it.
'Naruto Muto?! He is coming to academy this year?! I mean I heard rumours about his age I never thought I would be lucky enough to be hear when THE son of the King of Games came to our academy?!' The man was almost giddy with glee but managed to keep a professional look on his face.
A certain busty blonde Magician giggled from inside her card while Naruto smiled down at his deck.
"You ready? Dark Magician Girl?" Naruto asked his deck when they were outside again as more giggles could be heard.
AN2: The original gang basically treats each other as family so Naruto knows his parent's close friends as his aunts and uncles.
AN3: I know I said I would use JP honorifics but I like the way Mr. Kaiba sounds better so I am mixing it up.
AN4: I love the richboy and Wheeler or Monkey Boy banter in the dub.
AN5: I am going to use (X/Y) for attack and defence. Makes it easier and easy to read.
AN6: GX takes place where card erratas (changes in card texts to make cards weaker/more manageable/less OP) don't seem to exist so I am not going to use the Erratas in my story. I mean come on! Ring of Destructions MAKES you take damage FIRST before dealing any damage to your opponent, you cannot deal more damage then their life points (but you can target monsters with same number) make this OP card basically very mediocre! I get erratas are so they don't need to limit/ban every card in the game who is OP but still very annoying. *DO NOT GET me started on the Crush Card Virus card! Growl!)
AN7: Same kinda thing as the erratas. IF the God cards play a role in the story I am using the Final Duel version of their effects. I WILL NOT USE THE TCG/OCG versions of the card which are so garbage it is not even worth playing them in the video games! So basically they get immunity from card effects except themselves (being Divine type), Yugi (in my mind) was capable of weakening Obelisk because he targeted the 'Monster' Zone Obelisk was on and since he stood there he was weakened, Ra invincibility to everything only last the turn he is summoned (afterwards he has standard immunity). Since Obelisk is a 4000 tank his special power is rarely ever used but basically destroys everything and if he does he deals 4000 points of damage (but if he fails to destroy anything the effect damage doesn't work). The damage is also counted as battle damage so Kuriboh could negate it by discarding itself.
