When our heroes arrived at the Hephas Gym, they were shocked to see Shenelle just giving away badges and had no interest in battles. Cletus attempted to fix this, but he lost his battle against her and it made her more assured her way is just fine. Now, Davis is the one speaking up.

"What do you say? If you're so shred of yourself, have a real gym battle with me." Davis challenged.

"Shenelle, you must accept this battle." Terrance said. "That is the true responsibility of a gym leader."

"Fine. I'll do this battle if it means you get off my back, but when I win, you let me do what I want." Shenelle said as she wants this mattered settled as well.

"No way we're losing to someone who doesn't even take battling serious." Imperialdramon claimed.

"Right." Davis said as he refuses to lose.

(Davis' voice): An Imperial Flight

The next day, Davis and the others came back to the gym so he could have a real battle. It's not just about getting his third badge. He's got to show Shenelle that her way of doing things isn't right for a gym leader. Hearing that she's going to have a real gym battle, a lot of people came to see this.

"Wow. There's quite a crowd." Terra said.

"Word that Shenelle was going to have a real battle spread and a lot of people want to see." Cletus claimed.

"The gym battle between Davis and Shenelle will now begin!" Terrance announced with him being the ref. "Each side will be allowed the use of three pokemon. The battle will be over when all three of one side is unable to battle, and only the challenger is allowed to substitute pokemon."

"Let's get this over with, Davis. I have a facial today." Shenelle said. "Come out my steel beauty, Lairon!"

"Lairon!"

"No way am I losing to someone like you! Slotter, I choose you!" Davis called.

"Slotter!"

"Slotter... It's a cute pokemon, but water-types will be a problem against Lairon. Oh well, no matter." Shenelle said as she acted like it was no big deal.

"Why you... Slotter, let's end this quickly! Use Water Gun!" Slotter started the battle as it shot water straight at Lairon.

"Use Harden!" Shenelle claimed. Lairon hardened its body and braced itself. The water smashed against Lairon and Lairon was doing its best to ensure the attack. "Now use Headbutt!" Lairon charged right at Slotter to smash its head against it.

"If Water Gun isn't strong enough, we'll just simply use Aqua Jet!" Davis called. Slotter had water formed around it and the two pokemon collided. Slotter was the one to win that struggle as it knocked Lairon and did a lot of damage. So much damage that it was knocked out.

"Lairon is unable to battle! Slotter wins!" Terrance announced.

"Thats what I'm talking about!" Davis said. "What did you think of that?"

"Predictable." Shenelle said as she brought Lairon back in its pokeball and wasn't bothered at all. "After all, water-types are strong against rock-types." That wasn't what Davis was going for. "My remaining pokemon won't be so easy to beat. Come out my steel beauty, Metang!"

"Meta!"

"Davis won pretty easily, but this one is going to be difficult with Metang being a psychic-type." Terra claimed.

"You're right. Shenelle is a better battler than she looks." Cletus said.

"Now I'm sure to win this one." Shenelle claimed.

"We'll win this one just the same! Slotter, Aqua Jet!" Davis called with Slotter going in for another attack.

"Use Psychic!" Shenelle called. Metang used the power of its mind and caused Slotter to fly straight up and crash into the ceiling. "Now use Take Down!" Metang charged right at Slotter as Slotter fell down and smashed right into Slotter. That looked like a rather hard hit.

"Are you okay?!" Davis called. Slotter was able to get back up and could keep battling. "Let's try Aqua Jet again!" Slotter went with it as it charged right at Metang again surrounded by water.

"It's not going to work this time. Hold it down with Psychic!" Shenelle called. Metang used Psychic once again and was able to stop Slotter's attack. "Now use Psyshock!" Metang unleashed a psychic blast and hit Slotter with it. "Now use Take Down again!" Metang charged right at Slotter and smashed against it once again. Slotter got hit hard and tumbled against the ground. When it stopped, Slotter tried to get back up, but just collapsed.

"Slotter is unable to battle! Metang wins!" Terrance declared.

"Slotter, return. You did great." Davis claimed as he brought Slotter back in its pokeball. "No way am I losing this. What do you say?"

"I say, let's take her down." Imperialdramon said. Davis tagged Imperialdramon in with him stepping out on the field.

'Hmm... This one might not be so boring.' Shenelle thought. 'I better be careful since I know little to nothing about this weird pokemon.'

"Imperialdramon, start with Brick Break!" Davis called. Imperialdramon went right in for the attack.

"You never learn. Use Psychic and then Take Down!" Shenelle called . Metang did just that as it was able to stop Imperialdramon. After that, it smashed itself against Imperialdramon. "Now use Metal Claw!"

"I don't think so! Dragon Pulse!" Imperialdramon called. Metang tried to attack with its claws, but Imperialdramon blasted it with Dragon Pulse and knocked it away. "Now let's use Dragon Rush and end it!" Imperialdramon coated himself in his dragon energy and attacked.

"We're not beat! Now use Metal Claw again!" Shenelle called. Metang countered as it smashed its claws against Imperialdramon and the two knocked each other back.

"Metang countered Dragon Rush?!" Terra said.

"I can see why Shenelle is confident." Cletus said. Davis could see he wasn't getting anywhere like this.

"Imperialdrmoj, come back." Davis said.

"Already?" Imperialdramon questioned.

"If I'm going to beat that Metang, I need small and nimble." Davis said. Imperialdramon followed with it and came back. "Cubolt, I choose you!"

"Cubolt!"

"Now it's Cubolt. Being an electric-type, steel-type attacks won't be that effective." Shenelle said. "I wonder how much it can take. Now use Psyshock!" Metang attacked by firing a psychic blast." Metang battled as it unleashed the attack.

"Run in circles, Cubolt!" Davis called. Cubolt avoided the attack and kept running around as best as it could. Metang tried to keep up, but was having a hard time doing so.

"Metang doesn't know where Cubolt's going to attack from! Cubolt is too small and fast for it!" Cletus said as this was looking good.

"Now use Thunder Fang!" Davis called. Cubolt jumped right at Metang and bit it with an electrical current flowing through it. "Good! Now use Spark!" Cubolt coated itself in electricity and smashed itself against Metang with Metang getting knocked to the ground and was defeated.

"Metang is unable to battle! Cubolt wins!" Terrance called.

"So, have you changed your mind about battling yet?" Davis questioned.

"Not really." Shenelle said as she brought back her Metang. "Honest, things have gone just as you expect. Boring, outdated, and is so five minutes ago." She keeps acting like a spoiled girl. Davis has to win to prove there's more to battling than she thinks. "Besides, I still have the best steel beauty there is. Armorse!"

"Armorse!"

"She's finally using Armorse." Terra said.

"And that Armorse is strong. Davis might have trouble with this one." Cletus said. "When I battled that Armorse, it used Double Kick, Stomp, and Iron Head."

"But doesn't Armorse know any other attacks?" Terra questioned.

"That's what I was thinking. They might have one attack they kept in reserve." Cletus said.

"Let's finish this! Cubolt, start with Bite!" Davis called with Cubolt charging right at Armorse.

"Use Double Kick!" Shenelle called. Armorse turned around and kicked both of its legs against Cubolt when he got close enough. "Now use Flame Charge!" Armose surrounded itself in fire and smashed itself against Cubolt.

"A steel-type that can use a fire-type attack?!" Terra said as that was unexpected.

"That's going to be a problem as Flame Charge can increase Armorse's speed the more times it's used." Cletus said.

"Now use Stomp!" Shenelle called.

"Get out of there!" Davis called. Armorse raised its front legs to stomp down, but Cubolt managed to get out of the way. "Now use Spark!"

"Iron Head!" Shenelle called. The two pokemon charged at each other with their respective attacks and crashed into each other.

'That Armorse has some powerful defense, but there has to be a way for us to beat it.' Davis wondered until he realized something about Armorse

"Now use Stomp!" Shenelle called. Armorse raised its legs to stomp down.

"Dive under Armorse!" Davis called. Cubolt dived down and avoided the attack. "Use Spark right where Armorse is the most vulnerable! It's belly where there is no metal!" Cubolt jumped straight up and smashed an electrical tackle that did some damage on Armorse. That looked like it did it.

"No one has ever attacked Armorse from there before, but it's not good enough! Flame Charge!" Shenelle called. Armorse pulled itself together and tackled Cubolt in flames. "Now use Stomp!" Armorse stomped down on Cubolt and did some damage. Armorse kept Cubolt pinned down as it was revealed to have been knocked out.

"Cubolt is unable to battle! Armorse wins!" Terrance called.

"Cubolt, return." Davis said as he brought Cubolt back in its pokeball. Now he's down to just one pokemon. He can't lose this. "We've got to win, pal. Are you ready?"

"Yeah. I won't lose this." Imperialdramon said as he came back in the battle.

"So, we're finally down to the last battle. Let's get this over with." Shenelle said.

"It's going to end with us winning! Now use Brick Break!" Davis called. Imperialdramon charged right in and got the attack ready.

"Time to use Flame Charge!" Shenelle called. With Flame Charge, Armorse was able to avoid the attack and then smashed into Imperialdramon. "Good! Now use Double Kick!" Armorse smashed both of its legs and smashed them against Imperialdramon's back.

"Give them your Dragon Pulse!" Davis said. Imperialdramon turned around and tried to attack, but Armorse was able to avoid the attack.

"Good work, Armorse! Now use Iron Head!" Shenelle called. Armorse ran around Imperialdramon until it smashed into him with the attack again. This wasn't looking good. Armorse is just moving around too fast. "Iron Head once again!" Armorse attacked again and smashed into Imperialdramon again. He got hit so hard that he was knocked to the ground. "I think this battle is just about done." It wasn't looking good at all. It seemed like there is no beating Shenelle and that means she'll just keep being a lazy and spoiled gym leader.

"Come on, Imperialdramon! Get up!" Davis called.

"We... We can't lose..." Imperialdramon said as he tried to get up.

"What?! How can he still be able to battle after all that?!" Shenelle said.

"I won't let someone like you win!" Imperialdramon called as he was surrounded by cyan energy. It was something none of them have ever seen before. It completely outlined his body. Then, Imperialdramon took off at great speed and smashed into Armorse taking some damage.

"What was that?!" Shenelle questioned. "I've... I've never seen that before!" That seemed to have triggered something.

"I don't know what that was, but I think now is the time we end this! Focus Punch!" Davis called. Imperialdramon gathered power into his fist and smashed it straight down against Armorse with it dealing massive damage. Enough to end the battle.

"Armorse is unable to battle! The victory goes to Davis!" Terrance announced.

"Yeah! We won!" Davis cheered.

"That was awesome, Davis!" Terra claimed.

"Stupendous! What was that last attack you used?" Cletus questioned.

"How am I suppose to know?" Davis said.

"Unreal... I really lost..." Shenelle said as she was sure of her win.

"That was awesome!"

"Shenelle, will you battle me next?!"

"I want to battle Shenelle!" All of them want to battle Shenelle after that one. Perhaps this battle really was what Shenelle needed.

Later

"I thought battles were becoming a drag, but you proved me wrong, Davis. You really surprised me." Shenelle said. "Dad, I'm sorry for how I've acted. I think I finally understand." Terrance was really glad to hear that as it sounds like she's learned her lesson. "Here, Davis. The platinum badge, you've truly earned it." She said as she gave it to him.

"Thanks a lot, Shenelle." Davis said as he took it. "Yeah! The platinum badge is now mine!"

"So, where are you going for your next badge?@ Terrance asked.

"I don't know." Davis said.

"Maybe you should try Bacu City. Not only is it the most fabulous city in all of Grecko, but the gym leader there is rather tough." Shenelle claimed. "In fact, you can be there real soon because you can catch a train ride from here to go straight there."

"Bacu City?! That sounds wonderful!" Terra said. "I always wanted to go there!"

"It would be fun to travel by train." Cletus said.

"Sweet. That's where we'll go next." Davis said as the next destination was set.

The Pokemon Center

"So? What do you think, doc?" Davis asked as he was chatting with Professor Sassafras about what happened back at the gym.

"The data you've recording is rather interesting, Davis." Professor Sassafras claimed. "I've never seen an attack like this before."

"So what can you tell us?" Imperialdramon asked.

"No other pokemon has been able to do this before." Professor Sassafras claimed. "I'm detecting readings of a flying-type attack, but it seems to transform into a dragon-type attack when it's used against a steel-type. Probably because flying-type attacks aren't very effective."

"it's a flying-type attack, but could transform into a dragon-type attack?" Davis said.

"This is an amazing discovery. I'll continue to do research. Thank you for letting me to know." Professor Sassafras claimed before she ended the call. The two of them let it all sink in.

"Wow. This could be an attack only you can use." Davis said.

"I know. Maybe it is. Davis, the power I felt was different." Imperialdramon claimed. "It felt like... It felt like the time I became Imperialdramon for the first time...back home."

"Are you saying it came from your digimon power?" Davis said.

"Maybe. The power was similar." Imperialdramon claimed. "I just simply felt the power and took flight."

"Flight... Imperialdramon... Imperial... Imperial Flight! That's what we should call it!" Davis said. "This is so cool!" This new attack could be the start of something new.

Not only has Davis earned his third badge, Imperialdramon has learned a brand new and never seen before attack. With Bacu City as their next destination, there is sure more excitement to come.
