Kagome did not see eye-to-eye with most people in the Sengoku Jidai. Before becoming friends with Inuyasha, he had tried to kill her. Before becoming friends with Miroku, he had tried to swindle them. Before becoming friends with Sango, she had tried to kill Inuyasha. Before becoming not-enemies with Sesshomaru, he had tried to kill her and Inuyasha. Even Kaede had interrogated her a ton before trusting her. She wasn't expecting much in this era.
She wasn't expecting near-unanimous agreement between Sesshomaru and Naraku on Ryoga-san and his tendency to get lost in a degree not found outside people with brain damage.
"Let me understand this," Naraku said, as all these friends, acquaintances, and enemies stood together in a semicircle next to the smoking crater that Ryoga had created, for once not drawing weapons, attacking, trying to kill each other, trying to kidnap each other, trying to maim each other, and so on. "This buffoon friend of yours...fell into this land. By mistake."
"He gets lost a lot," Kagome explained, holding Ryoga by the collar. You had to keep him on a tight leash. All the time. Or else he would find another demon to pick endless squabbles with. "Don't mind him."
She was having a functional conversation with Naraku.
What the hell was happening.
Inuyasha had a grip on his rock-hard umbrella. Judging by his scowling and wincing, Kagome supposed that it weighed a metric ton of kilos.
Naraku frowned, thinking this over. "I first encountered this fool in Musashi Province. And now you mean to tell me that he traveled halfway across the country to our present location. By mistake."
"Yes."
Ryoga tried to say something, but Kagome clamped her hand over his mouth.
"That is truly mad." Sesshomaru said. "Even swine find their way to the pig pens sooner."
"Indeed."
"There are many imbeciles in this world."
Sesshomaru was having a functional conversation with Naraku.
What the hell was happening.
"So Kikyo's paramour will surely vanish within moments, given his ludicrous inability to follow the road." Naraku's lip curled. "And she will be devastated and spend her days searching for him to no avail, and her heart shall dry and wither in despair. That would greatly please me."
The Inuyasha-gang stared at each other blankly.
"You know what? I don't even want to know," Kagome muttered.
Ryoga squirmed and struggled in Kagome's death grip. She glared at him, and quite out of habit...
"Sit."
A/N: New Ranma anime coming soon...so happy! I wonder if they'll get new voice actors or ask the old ones to return...hope to see both the old and new in whatever's coming up.
