Their hair flew wildly, and their hands cracked with energy as both women stared into each other's eyes. They could not kill each other like this.

"Back off!" Kagome yelled,

"We were fine till you showed up!" Kikyo snapped back

"I don't want him!"

They pushed and pulled, and their power danced, and there was nothing Sesshomaru could do without risking being burnt if not killed. Then suddenly Kagome heard a cracking sound and looked back. The well was cracking "No!" She whispered. Something surged through her and she kicked Kikyo in the midsection sending her flying back but Kikyo stopped her self with her feet firmly planted.

It was clear this fight was going to be till someone's death and Sesshomaru was not about to let his mate die. She was foolish to have her back to him.

He wasted no time in taking Kikyo's head clean off. This time, there would be no bringing her back. He trusted his sword into her heart and twisted, turning her to ask that floated away with the wind.

Inuyasha screamed. But it was his own fault. What did he think was going to happen? Sesshomaru turned to his brother. Kouga stepped and looked away. Sango and Miroku felt pity for their half-breed friend, though they felt no such thing for his now-dead mate.

Sesshomaru would make it quick, it had to be done. Inuyasha was half gone anyway; her dying would just send him further into insanity.

Miroku and Sango looked away, they knew what was coming as Inuyasha growled and thrashed like a wild animal on the ground.

"Join her, my friend, and be free of pain," He then stuck the blade straight through Inuyasha's back, into his heart, killing him. But he did so with mercy, not ill will. One can not live without their bonded mate. He ended his suffering.

He then slowly turned to Kagome.

She was touching the well, crying. She felt like this was all her fault.

Sesshomaru moved to her but was met with a barrier "Miko?"

Her tears fell. She could see the other side. But the well was breaking down, but she was sure, so sure she could come back. But she needed to go home, wanted to hold her mother, because she knew sooner rather than later Sesshomaru was right, the thing needed to be desroyed.

But being able to return was a risk.

One she was willing to take. She could only hope he believed in her, trusted her, knew her.

She looked back and nodded slowly and then hopped over the rim.

"Kagome!" His sword whacked against her barrier, but it didnt do any good.

He could not reach her. He could not stop her. He could not follow her.

How could she leave him like that? He thought that perhaps she started to care about him, but could he blame her? His mate was gone. He regretted not taking her earlier now that the only memory he had was of her lips and the feel of her hips in his hand and the swell of her breast. He wanted so much more. She was a forbidden fruit, and he wanted to break his own laws over and over with her.

Perhaps he wanted it more than she had. Perhaps he cared more than she had.

Inconceivable, how could a man with no heart want like that? Sesshomaru put his hand to his chest to feel his heartbeat, but all he could feel was pain.

His sword went lax in his hand till it fell to the ground with a thud. He was now convinced that killing Inuyasha was mercy, for he felt like nothing but a blade to his chest would relieve the sudden sharp heaven pain. It was enough to bring him to his knees, but he would not bend.

His eyes bleed, his markings went jagged, and the wolf and two humans rightly left him in his own misery.
